Hey this guy would like a buddy key. http://www.gamerswithjobs.com/node/40835#comment-924191

I don't feel like registering for him so here is his e-mail if anyone can help him out.  Not sure why he can't register for the trial himself though....

Anyway here is the e-mail

jack03832@live.com

I'm burnt out on fantasy, and would love the fantasy/sci-fi blend of shadowrun.

Bring back the Squats!

I hope it is more than just playing imperials. I like spacemarines, but I also want to be an ork, or maybe an eldar from time to time.

You left out like 4 posts not including the one that got you banned. Your responses in white, everyone else in a diff color. Also you seem to have been the only one to get banned in that thread. It will say fired below the user name if you've been banned. So that other guy isn't banned as far as I can tell.

Kab: Just wanted to add, i understand many people dont like this game. Any serious review should strongly warn any potential buyer about the many bugs and performance issues aswell as discribe exactly who the game is geared towards. That said I am personally glad i tried this game, i'm having more fun then i have in years in gaming.

Or maybe they know their job as a reviewer is to look out how the game is designed, judge it on those merits and inform the public how it works.

Aside from the fact that I pointed out twice in this article that this is not a review, the game is simply not very good. Compared with other MMOs on the market I can't come up with a compelling reason to recommend this game to anyone over far better games. Were I doing a review, which again I'm not (though I see I have been linked as such) my job would be to be honest with readers, not to be confined within only the scope of the game's abilities to meet its own arbitrary goals of design.

I'm glad you're enjoying the game, though.

Kab: The fact you are writing an article on a gaming NEWS site makes you a journalist. Writing a disclaimer (this is not a review) does not release you from your obligations as a journalist. That being said you have the right to write anything you want biased, unbiased true or false , but thats irresponsible.

I cant come up with a compelling reason to recommend curling( the sport) to anyone over a more exciting sport like football or hockey. Yet I recognize that many people love that sport, maybe for its more slow pace and stratigical aspects, idont know honestly. Maybe i dont see it and dont appreciate it yet its there.

I know you are new here so lets just clear up that this isn't a news site. If you want a news site that is why we link to the escapist and had the Press Pass at one time. This is a opinionated forum with featured posters on the front page. A community above all else.

Kab: Then if its a gaming community site dose it not owe it to the gaming community to give fair unbiased artcle?
My apologies. Even though this "was not a review" he did refer to himself as a reviewer so you could see how I was mislead.
That said i still dont see how that changes the validity of any of my points, just ask yourself "what is the purpose or goal of this community site". And does this artilce uphold those goals and purposes?

Just havta tell you the way I found this review er not review was on many other gaming sites people were talking bout the thrashing vsoh got on gamers with jobs. Now I gotta tell you im sure at least some people have been influenced by this.

Up till now everyother major site has given vsoh a fair review(not always good but always fair)I think up till now the average rating is about 7 outa 10 , i think thats about what it diserves.
This site says "game sucks, dont buy it, dont even try it". Think thats fair to the gaming community?

Let me guess: in your mind, "unbiased" means "agrees with kab"?

If I have problems with something and I write about them, that's not bias. It's experience, it's opinion, it's judgement. On the other hand, if my views are pre-colored by the track record of the company, personal enmity between myself and a developer, or some other connection not directly related to the game, that could be called bias. I can't say I saw any of that in Elysium's review.

Kab: Do you know the definition of the wor bias? Did you read any of my posts? I said basically vsoh would NOT be enjoyed by the majority of gamers, however it is enjoyed by many(myself included) that like its playstyle. So in essence your right (even though you were trying to be sarcastic) my view is unbiased since im looking at it from both sides.

The author on the other hand refuses to acknowledge that some enjoy this playstlye and refuses to even try and look at this from a different perspective. That is bias.

--then you post another post now deleted which leads to this--

Certis: kab is banned due to the personal nature of his attacks in a post now deleted. I'll be watching this thread closely.
thank you again! Downloading now

I'd like to check out eve, can you please send a trial key to

Brizahd@hotmail.com

thank you in advance

Yuan-ti would make for a cool threat

I'd like to see it and if it really bothered people have it as an option you could turn on or off. I know I'd have it set to on.

crafting being in or out won't make or break a game for me, but I do get bored of just combat being the only option to pass time in a mmorpg.

That said I am merely interested in DDO because of the twitch style combat. That in of itself is pretty unique and if it is done right might be enough to keep me playing. If it had other options though it would keep me around much longer.

I'd like to see Bag of Beans and Ring of Regeneration.

I beta tested one called Endless Ages, and WW2 online is a mmfps.
oh also would like to see a shadowrun game. I think it would find a niche because it's a blend of sci-fi and fantasy

I'd like to see a star trek mmorpg. I won't go into the details since there are a few threads about it already. Also a warhammer 40k mmorpg that was alot like planetside, but also had space combat and home planets ect.

Something I forgot but think would be cool is some kind of voice chat in a mmorpg. The key would be that you couldn't just hear everyone, but only within certain distance. The game could control the volume so people far off might only be barely a whisper.

I also dislike instant messaging, and server wide communication. I'd like fo it to require some kind of spell, or technology to allow you to talk across the world to someone. Wether it involves you having to scrye someone you know, or using a walkie talkie to contact someone. This would also add an element in that some people would use their magic or technoloy to listen in on other people's conversations. Might open up a cool market for information if it was done right.

Being able to mask, or somehow alter your voice on the fly like it does on the xbox would be nice. I could create my dwarf and then mess with the settings till I got the voice I wanted quite right.

I imagine much like how the ydo with names mods might have to alter people's voices if they made some that were just ear piercing or too annoying.

This is alot like arguing over what is art or what isn't. It soley depends on the individuals invovled. Being a newb to mmorpgs in general I'd download a few free trials and see if mmorpgs are even something that I would enjoy. Plus them being free you get to see how they differ yet remain the same.

This brings up something this website is lacking. It needs a place that shows without much searching what mmorps offer free trials.

There are free mmorpgs out there, but from my experience they are free for a reason, and not any good ones.

I think it is possible cause I hear of people doing it. I myself only play on mmorpg at a time, if I find that the game is getting old I might try out other games and jump ship if one better fulfill my needs.

I'm cheap I do not want to pay for a game I'm not playing. If I was playing 3 mmorpgs at the same time whenever I would be playing one I'm wasting money on the other 2. Seeing as in my opinon the games have become so similiar to each other or dumbed down it's not hard to discard a few.

I'd like to see a mmorpg with something else to do besides combat and crafting. Mosst mmorpgs have gotten the fight monster x times to level, and craft this x times down pat. Now they need to work on quest cause the last few mmorpgs I've played have had lackluster quest. Stuff like kill x number of creatures and come back" just doesn't cut it.

They want us to stay and play so they should make the game fun at every stage of the game.

The perfect mmorpg in my mind would be a game that had other stuff to do when you get tired of fighting or crafting. Ways to interact with the world and other players. Like say someone made Uber mmorpg, doesn't matter the setting to me as much but they have combat, and crafting but also they have recreational stuff as well. Like say bowling, golf, fishing, racing, and they also have an in game collectable card game. Ah they also have a guid system that allows for players to pool together and buy land and build on it. The guild leader can let players manage stuff on their own or he can toggle aan rts type interface and issue commands for people build here, gather resources, kill creatures here. This interfaceespecially comes in handy for guild wars. Players get rewarded for following orders by gettting points to earn guild titles or other benefits.

This game has a handful of races, but those races have been fully fleshed out with unique languages, and own style of weapons and armor. Crafters of a chosen race can craft their own stuff better than they can other races, but through hard work they can learn to craft other style of armor, and weapons. Learning multiple style of armor and weapons allows for that player to combine the different asthetic styles to create new unique looking stuff. Having some magical skill would in time allow for enchantments on said crafting materials.

Fighting wouldn't be level based but player sskill based, much like a fighting game is. Players can choose from many classes and as they level they get to pick claass or weapon specific powers or moves. How well the player larns these moves dictates how good they do instead of I'm high level so I can allways kill anyone 5 levels below me. Kinda like how Rune was, or a massively online soul calibur would be. No more click, hit the fight button and wait for your powers to cycle as you auto fight. Players with ranged attacks would have a 1st person perspective until they get into melee range.

Game A.I. should be able to handle perchers, and kiters. Also instead of just randomly scattered monsters waiting to be slaughtered sentient monsters would have their own towns wether it is above or below ground. The creaures would be scatterd varying distances from their towns. They would be doing specific random things like attacking npc settlements, killing wildlife, gathering resources, ect. So the player would come upon creatures actually doing stuff instead of just standing or roaming around a given place over and over. Sentient creatures would spawn in their cities, and if a group never reported back more creatures might come and investigate. Lone scouts might explore and observe players, or other npcs and if not caught report back and lead a rading party. The creature city itself could be attacked with either a powerful group or a large enough force. Under the right circumstance it could be occupied and turned into a friendly npc town, but it would have to always be on guard from the surviving former occupants, or their allies. The surviving creatures would set up a new town and it would grow the longer it was left alone.

Non sentient creatures would be random enccounters in their natural environment. I would try to get away from having creatures spawn in the same place over and over. Also much like faction if you have the right alignment you might be able to interact with normally agressive npcs.

There would be a pantheon, and the game staff would roleplay these on very rare occurences. Playing a priestly class would have certain bonuses and limitations depending on with God you worshipped ingame. Churches would have faction, and alignment that could be affected by player choices in game.

This game would also be pvp, but only from choices made ingame. It would be possible to play and not be involved in pvp, but it would require a certain playstyle. Like staying neutral in worldy affairs, or picking the right causes to champion.

Thiss game would be truly 3d, and you could fly and also travel below water. There would be dungeons, and towns in those environments that would require the right means of travel to see.

Not only could players own land they could also buy a ship, and this ship would be like a mobile house.

I could ramble on and on, and these are just ideas that I've come up with now and not fully fleshes out. Regardless I think they offer a fresh approach to a game that would keep me interested for a long time. It would come close to aproximatiing the pen and paper experience

Yea it looks interesting, but I was kinda disapointed that all the pics are outside 3rd person shots. I'm hoping they have an internal view. Also being a car game I hope they allow for people to team up on vehicles. I.E. I drive while my friend controls the turrets.

Howgood?

I didn't like it. I tried to play and get to level 20, but I got as far as 14 and decided enough. I couldn't take another "kill x number of this creature" I actually got excited when I got a mission and it was just to go talk to someone, and they then directed me to someone else. I was like okay cool something different. Nope in the end I had to "go kill x number of this creature"

The graphics are sweet, but the character customization blows. 2 different hair colors, and they're just a lighter, and darker shade of the same color? wtf is that?

The pk'ing never bothered me, no one ever tried to pk me, and the few times I saw someone get pk'd was because one of the people were being an a-hole.

I expect more for $15/mo so I'll be passing it up. Don't take my word for it, play the beta before gold, or wait for a trial offer and see if it's for you or not.

I got into it fine, would log in and see only 10-30 people on the server. I never got offf the newbie island but it seemed pretty small, and not a whole lot to do. The interface drove me crazy, and even crafting irked me. My crafting tool would randomly unequip after making something. The graphics need work also.

Anyway I stopped playtesting, and got the e-mail for the next beta 3 build but I'm not going to bother. I'm not saying ryzom is bad jus tsaying it seems really early for them to start playtesting since some of the stuff you spend xp on isn't even implemented yet. So it becomes frustration earning the xp and then buying a cool sounding skill and nothing.
