You're right!

Seven level 80 characters and now you can't join your friend on "another server" because they are all used up?

You should quit! HAH! That would show them!

No, really.

We all voted.

You should quit.

If I had to guess, it's that 8800 card. Check the official forums, if I recall, they have been having trouble with those cards.

Also, if I remember correctly, EQ2 is not coded to take advantage of dual or quad core, so those suggesting such upgrades might be in error.

Sorry to necro the thread, but I just bought the game two days ago at my local Gamestop: I got the Limited Edition (in-game bling, paper map, poster, etc.) retailing for $59.99 for $14.99.

Really, cost is not a reason not to try the game.

I'm certainly not going to try to talk you out of your opinion, after all, that's what opinions are for.

You might consider trying the trial, however. You might find that after you get past the "look", that there is a pretty deep and good game there.

We're lucky today though, because if one game just can't do it for us, there is another one, a different one, that  just might.

Hope you find a good game to play!

Been playing D&D for 32 years.

That means I am old.

I can say for certain that this edition is unlike, in style and outlook, any edition before it.

Whether that is a good or bad thing remains to be seen; the reason being that unlike many previous editions, we have not received the bulk of the rules/content with the three core books. We will be asked to spend more money for what at one time were iconic classes, races and monsters (just for example).

This, if nothing else, validates the comparison to online RPG's.

Bit by bit, dollar by dollar, we we receive the rest of 4ed. Then, and really only then, will we be able to offer a truly informed opinion as to its worth compared to previous editions.

Hi Jon,

I do appreciate that you all noted right away that this was a review of levels 1-20.

I simply have to question the value of a such a review of a product in which so many people have complaints POST level 20. I hope that we can soon get a review of the same quality on the game as a whole, not just the intro levels. I suspect that would be much more valuable for potential customers trying to make up their minds whether to spend their money on this product at the moment.

Best,

Jeff

Sorry, you only get 9 questions per post.

Actually, Bahumut covered it very well, the only thing I would add is that I found a big difference between E2 and WOW, in that for me, I was drawn into the story of EQ2. Wow, after the first year, just became a grind.

In EQ2, I can do a lot of things to progress in other areas not tied to trying to get the next best gear.

Give it a try, the demo is free.

Best of luck.

I play on Antonia Bayle and my wife plays on Lucan D'Lere. Both servers are populated well (AB much more so) and healthy. Both are RP preferred servers.

On another topic: Crafting, if you understand how to do it, is very lucrative.

In fact, my wife made 15 plat on Saturday with her weaponsmith crafting.  She's played the game about 7 months now.

I suggest you try EQ2's trial, mostly because the game has changed so much since release. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. But if not, all you have lost is some time.

Hope you find the game you are looking for!

He's not making it up. Like it or not, it is an issue that people who are considering the game need to know about.

I suggest that you cruise the various EQ2 boards and learn a bit about the character classes and such. It will help prevent you from wasting a bit of time with a part of the game that might not interest you.

Good Luck!

You can go to Neriak at any level, there are a few quests there that are very doable at low levels. If you want to check out the crafting game, you have to go to Neriak anyway, as it is the closest.

Enjoy the game!

It tends to be more common with a lot of the so called "veterans". As if the world owes them something just because they played since launch. And the "attitude" that you are refering to, this is not an attitude that is expressed in game. It is a reaction from my observations of the game. I was just on a few minutes ago and two level 20 characters said they were looking for a group. The reply they got was "You are a group" How shitty is that?

As the thread title says. It's not the entire community that is elitist. But the elitist community that does exist will be the downfall of the game.

The point of my post is not to lable the entire MMORPG discussion community. It is to call out this poster, that has this elitist attitude. It tends to be more common with a lot of the so called "horsing around" posters. As if the world owes them something just because they did not get their way. And the "attitude" referred to is not an attitude expressed in game, it is a reaction to my observations of whiny posters who get upset because Muffy did not get treated like the Goddess I know that she is. I was on a few moments ago and someone made a joke about two players being a group and since Muffy has made me pay that night for not being treated like a Goddess online, I have lost my entire sense of humor and perspective on the game.

How shitty is that?

As the thread title says, it is not the entire posting community here that is elitist and feels entitled. But that elitist and entitled community (however small) does exist and will continue to be a source of much entertainment on these boards.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot!

Prick.
