So when did Real Money Trading become okay?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 3/25/12 12:44:45 PM
The only difference between MMOs with cash shops and without is that the ones with them aknowledge that people can RMT You can go buy gold to get better items and stuff, hell you can even buy bind on pickup items and crap in almost any game if you look hard enough. And really Video games, or MMOs really are one of the cheapest forms of entertainment there is. It's no surprise that someone will buy stuff in game to save real life hours if they can. |

The only thing this changes is the illusion that people don't buy gold. A significant portion of every game populatin buys gold and funnels money away from the game now it's going to be safe and easy to do I can't wait. |

Feelin like I really missed out on WoW ;/
General Discussion « World of Warcraft 2/25/12 10:33:38 AM
If you havn't raided before then you might want to try it out, you don't have to do it in WoW but it is usually pretty time demanding depending on what game you do it in. Then again I have raided in almost every game besides WoW so I don't really know if the raiding there is super special or something but it dosn't seem to be. IMO if raiding is the only thing you feel you missed out on then you didn't miss out on much. |

Only issue is Mythic and EA have PQ and RvR trademarked so no other game company will use those terms |

Do you like doing dungeons in MMO's?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 2/18/12 1:19:05 AM
I love dungeons in MMOs they are usually the group activities and always the coolest places to explore. Playing SWTOR recently all I really wanted to do was just run the instaces to level up. I think it was a combo of the only way to group and the exploration/boss fights I play healers mainly so anything that makes me put some effort into healing is a ton of fun and bosses usually do it. Also I love solo exploring dungeons trying to get as far or as deep as I can just a lone. Really questing in the open world to level is the one thing I hate more than anything in MMOs at the moment. |

Is Raiding a weekday activity? PvP weekend?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 2/18/12 1:12:55 AM
After playing a lot of MMOs and doing multiple raiding guilds and PvP stuff. I have noticed a trend that raiding seems to be done mostly on the weekdays. I would usually find Fridays and Saturdays as free nights in a lot of guilds. And PvP, well it happens all the time, but there is more activity on the weekends.
What do you guys think based on your experiences with either one or both? Is PvE Raiding a weekday activity after school and work, while PvP is dominating those who play more on the weekend?
Here is a poll on just the PvE raiding. |

"guild housing launched in EQ2 and saw Qeynos and Freeport die virtually over night."
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 1/07/12 8:13:11 AM
Originally posted by MMOExposed Both cities are kinda the same thing, developers have to give the players what they use to build the cities Darkfall had player made cities that were designed by the developers and only able to be built one way and a lot were pretty cool and different. Thats what I don't really like about the GW2 thing cause its such a big area, assumeing they have nothing important in there then it would be ok, but if your instanced house in the city was just like your place to put things/decorate like in FFXI it dosn't bring people away form the city because everything else they do is in the city. and it's just one doorway that everyone goes to. |

Houseing dosn't make sense with cities If you want people to live in the cities they would need apartments, houses are usually far away from cities and built around smaller communities best thing is for instanced apartments something like FFXI where you have your mog house Other than that there is simply no room in a city for houseing it takes up way to much space. Unless you do what GW2 is doing and gives everyone a whole district where they could have their house but that seems a bit much really. |

I want to create an MMORPG, how much money do I need?
Help Wanted « Developers Corner 12/17/11 9:26:28 PM
You need the right people, thats about it. People will get stuff done more than money will, find the right people with the right drive for what you want to do and the money really shouldn't be as big of an issue, yes you will need alot but the people are what are going to make your game. |

I know they are not MMOs but a game with the same type of view and combat system would be cool. I know of path of Exile which is not released yet so that dosn't work also there is diablo 3 which is not released. So is there anything that is out there, persistant world would be prefered. I like the random drop items but thats not really an MMO thing so the game dosn't have to have it. Basically the one requirement is the view and controls be a 2D type game over the top view, I don't care if you move with the mouse like diablo or with wasd. Thanks in advance. |

You can try ffxi if you can get into it, it takes some time but it's very group dependent. |

How do you tell if someone is cheating? they insta one shot everyone from across the map. Maybe someone is radar hacking or crap but I doubt it. There are more bad players that think their the wtfpwneveryone that guy must be hacking if he beat me, than there are cheaters. |

First off whoever said don't rush in dosn't know what their talking about. You need to rush in and rush in tactically. Rush in, out run, out flank your enemy and accuracy and twitch don't matter when your stabing them or shooting them in the back. It's not really about memorizing the maps as much as it is about knowing where your enemies are, know what direction they are in so you know if your exposed or not. Also there are alot of different ways to play FPS if you have crap accuacy like myself you can use guns like shotguns or LMGs which simply rock cause you just hold down the button and crap. Not to mention that veichles or simply repairing and caping points can be alot of help and alot of fun it's like playing a healer. The hardest part is figuring out how you like to play games like BF there are soooo many different ways you can play BF3. So if not rushing in is not working for you, you should try rushing in get a shotgun ot LMG rush in and hold down fire.
But yeah like some people have said people who have been playing FPS for years will have a significant edge over people who don't, don't worry about it. You need to try different things in a FPS every time you play until you find one way where you don't die as much cause everyone always dies I've only had one BF3 game where I did not die and that was an exceptionm especially since the way I play I tend to die alot. Also I find that singleplayer FPS of any kind makes me worse at multiplayer it sets up bad habits and crap i don't play singleplayer ever at all just can't do it. but yeah, I love MMOs too It's definatly more relaxing. I miss alot of the older slower paced more social things in MMOs.
