Diablo defined the hack and slash games. Everything after that was just copy paste sauce. The only games which were OKis were TQ, TL (that's pushing it), and Dungeon Siege. Even those were crap compared to Diablo 2.So I am a bit skeptical that games like TL2 and POE will be any different. They will be just another pile of steaming copy paste.

The only thing POE has going on about it was that skill map the size of Europe. Did I mention how bad the graphics are? Grim but ugly.

TL2, I haven't played that but from what I've read I am seriously not impressed. TL was crap. They forgot one of the "cornerstones" of hack and slash RPGs - MULTIPLAYER LOL! TL2 will be copy paste of Diablo 2 again with 4 uninspiring characters, cartoony graphics, nonexistant lore and no real dedicated multiplayer (similar to Battlenet). I guess the only thing that TL2 has going on about it is the mod support.

The graphics in Path of Exile are actually quite nice. The combat is Diablo 2 down to a T, too, so if you think it sucks then D2 sucks.

TL2 has dedicated multiplayer with saved characters on an account but you can also play multiplayer mods. Up to eight players in a game with mobs and bosses scaling to match you as well as individual loot drops.

The character classes are really very interesting and fun to play, as well as completely different to each other.

Maybe read up on or play the game? :D I mean, I know Diablo 3 fanboys are weak reading comprehension, but Christ.

how about like both? that is possible right?  or is that not allowed with you?  *shrugs*

Come back with decent arguments (even if there's a very low chance not to get banned after all the insults you're posting on most D3 related topics)

"OH YOU BUY GEMS OFF THE AUCTION HOUSE (which is undoubtedly to allow Blizzard to make more $$$) TO MAKE STATS WHICH YOU CAN PRETTY MUCH CHANGE AT WILL."

That's not customisation.

Also, the stat system sucks hairy balls. Torchlight 2 has every character requiring every stat (depending on build). Casters can require dexterity to crit and dodge and also for fumble recovery, whilst dual wielding melee characters require focus (the caster stat) to do executes (hit with both weapons at the same time), dexterity for crit rate and dodge and melee for extra damage. Everyone needs vitality for obvious reasons.

Double up on the stat stuff, too. Torchlight 2's stat system allows you to allocate stats to get gear OR you can wait until the level the gear auto-unlocks for your character at.

happy your are not going to play D3

:D

This is so fucking stupid... ofc it is a rpg. The people who tell you otherwise is just butt hurt becouse blizzard change their game. There is no rules that say that a rpg have too be open world. You chose a class, level up, pick talents and grind for gear.

Thanks for agreeing with me!

You don't pick talents in D3.

ArEf, don't you have anything better to do? All you do is hate on Diablo 3. You've already made a gazillion threads trying to bash Diablo 3. All your threads are stupid, deluded and twisted to suit your own argument. You say that Diablo 3 is not an RPG but TL2 and POE are?

And what's with the CoD love? Cause you seem to be trying so hard to put that CoD comparision in every single post you make.

Maybe because Diablo 3 is the Call of Duty of Hack and Slash games?

and?

call of duty had a great campaign to play (imo) and im hoping D3 will aswell.

all your posts are are just trying to get people to bite. they are a fair bit but im sure they see through the rubbish you are writing. because if diablo is not an RPG then neither is any final fantasy game, chrono trigger, xenoblade, dragon quest and the list goes on and on and on.

meowout

ive been stung by the hype bug a few times. mmo's get hyped and they are fun for only a few months ( still worth the money imo for me).

now i just wait till for about 6 months after realease for fix's and extra content before trying anything.

and besides..diablo 3 is comming out. stop all the hate guizzz. let it release and see if ya mates are liking it and join them if it is up to YOUR standard of entertainment.

MMMMM THE TEARS...I CANNOT CONTAIN THIS POWER!!!!!

i had closed beta since november and i wasnt allowed to post on D3 forums either.

but it was still funny reading the 'chosen one' threads ahahaha

Who just came up with the idea that an MMO needs a pre-determined peronal story which in most cases even is 100 % linear ?

They exist in SWTOR, TSW, GW2. Some are more and some are less entertaining. All have in common that you can enjoy them one time at most and they are completely unnecessary in an MMO. Imo these are wasted resources better invested into other features.

"other features" are done in mmo's now. bringing in an interactive story is an attempt to help the player level from 1 - cap without feeling a burden of grinding over and over and to actually enjoy the experience.  every mmo is linear if you think about it, everyone is directed to the end state of max level :P

some may like stories, some may not. TERA has bugger all story compared to TSW and SWTOR, maybe you should give that a crack if you havn't already

Every game I have ever played from early on has great customer service.

All but SWTOR of course... they never had any customer service in general.

swtor got back to me within about 12 hours of any ticket raised.

People need to stop telling us that this was just a tutorial and just a widdle beta.

This is what we were shown and this is what we will fracking go on. This is the demo we were given to decide if we wanted to buy and it was a bad demo. The End.

Or you could actually research the game a bit more and learn. You have more to go on than just the beta.. the demo is the starter edition, make your informed judgement then. Its free.

I have researched it and experienced what I was given. My decision is made. There are countless threads on this board that go into great detail as to why the game does not live up to the hype or development time that it has endured. This is an MMO board first and foremost and to put it blunt and short.. Most people are looking for feature rich and relatively complex game.

With the time that has passed between installments I find this title to be less innovative than the two that came before it. I also find it less innovative when compared to similar games that have already came down the pipe or are about to be released.

your first mistake was to belive anything from an mmorpg forum.

you do realise the beta is not for the customer but for those who participate to report bugs on a variety of system specs. the game is hack and slash dungeon crawler, why should it be complex? lol....if you want complex go play demon souls and dark souls. or even go and play a ninja gaiden game.

I know that all the gamers have not been around forever. May not play as many games. And are generally still curious and new to all the gaming world.

So in retrospect i dont blame them for all the silly theories like : People dont like D3 because its not MMO , People dont like D3 because its not carbon copy of D1-2 ... etc

So for their service. And to prevent further confusion , i decided to bring you educated answer...

Here it is:

Major problem
Minor problem
  • Xbox graphics - No high res textures on 2012 PC game
  • No server browser ( just auto connect to random game)

So what we have there.

D3 is now officially less complex than any MMO or ARPG out there. Even WOW is far more complex.
Every good game goal should be  "easy to learn difficult to master" , if they hope to have any longevity.
While in D3 we have only "easy to learn,  than autopilot"

There is simply not much left for user to do - no customisation. Just collecting (now severely simpler items)
Less experimentation, less variety, less thinking = game that gets boring fast

On top of that every character is the same.
Every barbarian = your barbarian. (skill wise)
They even look the same...

While Diablo 2 because of large variety is still actively played today.
I got bored with D3 even after few hours.

Because of above mentioned simplification.

--------------

Bottom line:

Diablo 3 is now simplified and dumbed down  to rank of some Iphone game, or kids game like "Free Realms"

That is your answer folks.

blizzard killing skill trees is certainly sad, but for me the simple reason i just won't go near d3 is the awful auction house thing. that's the final nail in my view.

by all means, have an auction house if you really want. but to charge us for it? pfft.

edit: i just don't see the whole "make money gaming" thing as a positive in any way shape or form. it's a game. the idea of working for money is something i associate with that awful thing called "a job". i don't want to think about real money when i'm gaming.

i just want to kill stuff, loot stuff, repeat.

um you can kill stuff, loot stuff, repeat. just dont use the 'evil' auction house lol.

il just be playing it with work mates. wont be worried about the auction cause we will be too busy destroying each difficulty one chapter at a time.

as for skill trees...really? does it really matter? you can mix and match runes instead for different builds to suit your play style. skill trees have been used in too many games these days. i for one am glad it is different. something new to learn.

D3 is not everyones cup of tea

You got it backwards dude, open world PVP, guild vs guild drama, ganking, THAT'S hardcore.

E-sport snorefests against no-names isn't hardcore, it's call of duty casual.

GW2 is like an FPS with 5 skills, woopdie dooM the casual of the casual

You don't even know what you're talking about.

Esport with tournaments is for hardcore pvp'rs that want to be competitive. Openworld PVP with ganking and griefing  is for casuals that just wants their pvp mixed with pve from time to time.

The noname players are not in the competitive pvp (Esport) but in the WvWvW

Still i don't care to explain it further. The big pvp guilds have already made a choice.

Get a clue, instanced e-sport PVP IS casual.

PVE mixed with PVP is hardcore, it leads to guild wars, PVP in open world dungeons, competition between guilds.

You speak like someone who started playing MMOs with WOW..

E-Sport PVP isn't hardcore, and it will never be.

It's ok, you can play a casual MMO, don't feel bad about it, but don't try to fool yourself.

Another MMO with hardcore PVP is ArcheAge, open world PVP.

GW2 doesn't even have open world PVP ROFL how can it be hardcore?

yeh mate, YOU decide whats hardcore and whats casual hahahaha.

time invested into a game determines how 'hardcore' or 'casual' it is. there are hardcore hello kitty online players who breath the dam game everyday. and there are casual UO players who might log on for an hour or 2 a day.

according to YOU if it doesnt have open world pvp its not classed as 'hardcore'. please go back under your rock.

cheers

We are talking about the game here, not the players.

As you just said, one can be hardcore playing Hello Kitty Online, but it's still a casual game.

cool, now you get to judge whats a casual game and whats not.

um...every mmo is a single player game with party options. you can level from 1-max level on your own if you feel the need to. you do not have a crystal ball, you can not predict the future. calm down everything will be ok.

capcom are the scum at the moment with disc locked content on street fighter X tekken.

(FLAME SUIT ON!)

obviously you havnt been in the MMO genre when MMO's were MMO's if you think all MMO's are single player games.

If you think capcom is bad you need to google playstation orbis (ps4) and read what their talking about doing with the games. Makes capcom look like jesus.

hate to once again cloud your crystal ball of all universal knowledge again but UO you could travel about solo if you felt like or make friends and adventure (build a neat house even)  with them just like EQ and so on.  you are not required to play in groups but it is encouraged for a greater experience and explore harder content. im sure you understand.

im not keen on any new console with the APPLE like restrictions. on the bright side EA is a close 2nd for americas worst companies hahahahaha.

is it a big download..i only got like 6gb left on my horrible australian restrictive usage.

Oh god lifetime sub for TSW? I am just learning about this.

Anyways if its true........ When the F#$% are these moron mmo gamers going to learn that lifetime sub = Money grab tactic. This game is going to be nothing more than another 90 day'er at most. Just another single player game with a party option. Hell I dont know why EA  doesnt add a chat box to ME3, DA, or any other of their high profile single player games. Add a simple chat box to those games then they could charge subs for those, and there would be idiots out there foaming at the mouth to throw their money at EA.

Oh the piss poor state the gaming genre as a whole is in right now. Game being released with half content for 60$ just to give you the rest of the game via DLC for another 30$. MMO are nothing more than single player games now. The talk of the next playstation and xbox is absolutly appalling on what they are proposing to do. And you people just throw your parents money at these companies. This is our future generation........ man kind is doomed.

play dark souls and say it is not rewarding when you beat a boss, or a bunch of mobs without getting hit.

but like others are saying its a personal thing. some might meh at the fact there is no loot whilst others feel acomplished for actually conquering a certain stage withing a game whether it is mmo or regular games.

wooooow you have completed the game? or is your crystal ball super awesomesauce?

im pretty sure any MMO can be casual. it is just how much time is invested into playing. not hard to understand.

and if the OP actualy read into the game the developers aim is to make it an easy to pick up and play game and offer technical customisation for those who would like to play the way they choose.  just wait for ZOMG WTF BBQ! NO DEDICATED HEALERS OR TANKS calls to be made. news flash the dev team were inspired by team fortress (not trolling). they are breaking away from traditional jobs in the fights. whether it works out....well it is up to those who play i guess. Since Swtor I came to the conclusion that premade character story lines are not really important to me in an MMO. They are more a nice to have. I hope they don't invest to much resources into this feature although I get the impression they do.

Here here. Premade storylines belong into singleplayer games, not MMO's (like above, SWTOR proved that)

You two are kind of right and where SW:TOR got it wrong is that there was way to much focus on the singleplayer story experience, when we should be playing MMORPGs to play with other people. So far it looks like Guild Wars 2 won't fall into that same pitfall.

all just an opinion.  swtor didnt get it wrong. you can have people in your party the whole way through your classes story line. even the same class. just change the social options so they can join in the class quests. once you hit 50 you can start raiding and such. it is not all doom and gloom and the game is going strong. so far all these forums trolls and their crystal balls are fail sauce. (not an opinion just the proof of these horrible QQ forums) (flame suit on)
