LOL Still another one who didn't play Wow enough and still thinks he can say something about it.

A dungeon and BG is purely for balancing purposes made seperate.

You don't want to be interferred with another group if you down Illidan ...No graphics load screen if you jump right into the dungeons BTW.

TBC/Outland is the epitaph of complete open 3D world (air, land ,sea, underwater ) without ever seeing a loading screen. And you land with your flying mount everywhere you want.

Played well over 200 hours in WoW, played since Us beta, EU beta, EU live.

And ive played mroe games then WoW, games where you can intrude on others raids, games where you can be intruded on. I want that action where you have to not jsut kill the bosses, but guard against other players. Best time i had in WoW was fighting azurgeos and being interupted by a ally guild and all hell broke loose, 3 tries later we had a PvP force defending and we succesfully killed the dragon before the bodies of the ally guild.

2 months later os sumthing, Blizzard warned us and others that wed get BANNED for pvp or trying to take over a raidboss in the open world.... on a PvP server...

Instancing gives good things also, i wont argue that. But to MY LIKING wow uses it to much. And to much of the population is in instances all day, making the word seamless a joke to the game.

Be honest !!! Your loading screens take sometimes far more than a minute.

The fact that it DOES take loading screens to even enter a building is proof the game is too heavy on graphics that can not be loaded in the background.

Meaning lazy programming, louzy gameplay.

Entering a building loading takes 5-10 secs for me. Loading the game first time takes closer to a minute.

Loading WoW for me whit all mods i had (granted alot) took 2 minutes.

IMO, the loading screens are acceptable so far. Apparently you dont agree. Perhaps this game doesnt suit you.

The FACT IS - allmost all the "fanbois" by now have seen the loading times and are accepting them, which is a "proof" that they love the heavy graphics and can take the loading screens.

Im sorry you feel its to much. And yes there are more loading times then WoW, but calling WoW seamless is a joke imo(!), to much instancing endgame.

Look at games like EQ2 (and if you are comming from WoW only, then i cant really help you) that has about the same if not more loading times. Its not a phenomenon that hasnt been done before really... Dont understand why everyones acting like loading screens are a new thing in the gaming or mmo buissness. I guess many ppl judge a mmo game based on how seamless it is, and to a point i do to (cant play guildwars with a gun pointed at my head couse its so unseamless and instanced)

But heres a rude awakening, its all a matter of OPINION. you think loading times suck, i think they suck. You don't think AoC is worth the loading screens, i do. All we can do is argue about our opinions afterwards...

There are people that are having problems with high end computers today also, thats the problem FunCom has in their hands now at release. Its nothing we can talk away, its a fact.

To the other guy, i come from Lineage2 with the seamless worlds expecience, i hate the massive instancing of WoW.

Yet i still forgive Funcom for the extra loading times replaced with the awesome worl graphics. Its seems this game is not gonna fit all the seamless-extreemists thou, and its understandable. But the truth then is, can you live with it like me and enjoy the rest, or find another game?

Not every mmo is made to be seamless, FunCom made their choice on that one.

I read on the official forums from a few guys who team up, ganked there way throu and went 2-3 zones away to explore.

I dont remember their words exactely, but it was in a summary bigger and wider zones out in the snowareas where they went (or sumthing like that).

He also spoke of how the first zones where perfect for the beta event with how "tin" they where forcing ppl  into fights naturally.

Anyways, you can take my words for what you want, this is my impression of how other zones are gonna look like. I usually want the open worlds to comming from Lineage2 and feel its alittle closed of. But the graphics are worth it for me.

deal with the truth?

I can deal with the truth that you didnt like the experience youve had so far with AoC, sorry.

Its rather you who cant deal with the "fact" (lol) that there is a shitload of people here that had an awesome time in the OB. And cant wait for Release.

for me? Aslong as release works as good as OB did for me, im there for the ganks and loves of many others!

Why? Becouse OB worked great for me, the miracle patch didnt do squat for me, worked 100% same as pre miracle patch. Guess i was lucky pre miracle patch :p

Im running 8800 GTS 640 mb Ram (the g90) with a clocked 4400 Core 2 duo, 4gig of ram and Vista 64. No problem what so ever on highest 4x AA bloom...

I feel for the ones who didnt get it to work properly (my friends laptop are having some problems, but hes not here hating - he still got his preorder from playing from my comp thats how impressed he was). But i didnt expect a new released game to work for everyone... heck atleast it is shaping up to work for many enough compared to the last few big releases weve seen...

Haters should understand that while yes there are people having problems, there are many who dont... And the actual game when it runs is just awesome

Take it as you want.

FagerCraft - feeding the trolls on mmorpg.com since 2005!

P.S after this beta, i sure as hell became one of the fanbois

damns already, was planning on boosting up a necro 13 this evening...

Guess its ranger for me then.

Hpw about something like this?

http://feats.goonheim.com/necromancer

Change the mage feat where you gain hp for MP fpr PvE i guess :p

To early to say really..

Seriously, this game got problems all over the places, and you complain about this.

...

Had a long post here about talents and shiyt.. but meh.

If this is a turn off for you, im sry. But your a minority and if you think this is anywhere close to other problems or even yet gamebreaking... your sadly mistaken.

-"Next Gen"- Hot or not?

Alot of people call World Of Warcraft a next gen game (meaning it was a next gen when it came). I agree it took alot of aspects to new levels (on good and bad).

Guess what, World Of Warcraft was one of the biggest copy cats in the mmo history. And still its praised as a next gen game. Hence your comment about one thing in AoC being to similar automaticly fails it as a next GEN game is invalid.

Not saying its gonna be next gen.. Next gen is to general of a statement. Define what _you_ mean with next gen. Couse many will see it as next gen, many will not. Im sure there lots of ppl who also argue that WoW is next gen or not (when it came out). So the argument your taking on the "next Gen" approach is just silly.

Xp 32bit can handle something like 3.1 gig ram.

Putting 4 gig in would give you 3.1 gig approx i believe. Im not too sure about this thou, someone with more knowledge migth be able to answer this better.

ah 7600->8800 vs 2->3 gig RAM...

Personally id go with both (RAM is DIRT cheap these days). What ever you buy, make sure your moderboard can handle it, that the PCI port is compitable and that adding new RAM works with your current ram and so on ;)

1)

Id just like to ad, that i ran this beta with a 1 and a half year old rig, upgraded only from 2 to 4 gig RAM due to VISTA. I ran on High settings with a stable 20fps (its stable so its ok) in Tortage city daytime (laggiest place i found). And im running a dual screen, showing vista with allt he bling on on the second screen!

I think the problem ppl are havings are more connected with software and computer configurations and drivers then there actual hardware. Heck there are ppl saying they run fine on Low with 1 gig ram (ok yeah i cant prove that, skip it if ya want, still..)

Ive tested a few drivers so far, and theyd differ a good 10 fps from worst to best. Currently the newest 169.x drivers work good for my card, and the newest beta driver (the newest a week ago sucks so bad it aint funny). Just to give a heads up what a decent configurated computer can differ with same hardware.

But yeah it has high reqs, but ppl with 1year or newer gaming rigs love Funcome for it, and we do not care that the game wont have 10 mill subs becouse of it.. so its basically a screw you guys with old or crappy rigs. I feel sry for you, but still i dont want my graphics taken away becouse of it! Guess im a little evil.. >_>

2)

Class balance... where do i start... its lvl13... - sry but im gonna do it.. compare to WoW (as most gamers know about it). How balanced is the PvP at any level even max level in that game?

You know what, im not gonna bother here.. ppl whined on nukers at lvl13 alot.. in the pvp weekend ppl whined at melee (with all the charging nukers died like flies apparently). Not only does Funcome need time to balance this.. Players need time to find the true  unbalances, and your not gonna find em at 1 weeks playing at lvl13. Otherwise i guess its true, its unbalanced.. it is..

3)

I dunno why funcome is doing that really, they said that there researched showed PvP and PvE as the highest and RP-PvP as the runner up. And they chhosed those 3 to start of launch with. Other rulesets where to unwanted to bother. (dont remember where i read it, trust me or dont i dun care :p)

I dont feel much about it since im gonna play pvp server, but i see the problem... Apaarently Funcome sees it but said it was to minor at this point

4)

The faces was... wierd yeah.. And with all the sliders for all the wrong stuff (give me more hairstyles and colors... who cares if the cheeks has 100 different stages, i want 100 different hairstyles for crying out loud!)

The animations rocked the hallway bigtime thou, not quite asgood as Lineage2 still... but best try so far IMO (note the IMO flamers please)

No offence, just a honest reply from my "feelings" from playing the beta on the points you brought up. I respect your concerns, especially on the character creation!

^Topic.  I have about 250 bucks to upgrade to a new video card.  If for a bit more money i would get a huge upgrade or vice versa thatd be cool.  Thanks guys!

A tip for you sir. If your using a medium GFX card already that atleast run low/med settings, and only have 2 gig RAM. Figuring out how to get 4gig RAM migth give you a better boost then a new GFX. a GFX card can only do so much before the RAM has to empty itself all the time,

Then again 2gig with a nice handled Computer on XP is enough also, if your GFX is really crappy..

Anything under 2gig RAM and your out of the legue wichever card you buy really.

Then again, games with over 100k subs are pretty awesome games no matter what really.. And its enough to fill a couple of servers..

I sure as hell didnt have fun in wow or EvE becouse the subs where low/high... aslong as theres enough to go around on a server. Heck i play lineage2 on Lionna server with about 1k avarage players on.. works wonders (the bigger servers got from 3-5k online, but they are more botinfested to..)

Its like the EvE devs say, if we get over 200k subs, were doing a hell of a job and profiting...

Its not about the subs ppl, get over the 10m wow market and start focusing on the ppl on your server... Couse even with 10 mill players playing wow, there servers seems more dead then many other games with all the instancing...

Id bet a AoC server with open pvp actually happeneing (god lets pray they dont go heavy on the minigames) and sieges going on, it will seem ALOT (yes alot) more alive then a random WoW server (not counting there battlegrounds, nor AoCs minigames),

WoWs greatest times imo is on new server where ppl level and gank the shit out of each other over hunting grounds.. when it shifts to BG and Raid farming... its dying.. (not saying instancing is bad, but to the wow extent... well thats for another thread)

/end rant

P.S for those trolls and flamers in here, ill give you a hand. Im a Blizz Fanboi. And i also look at AoC possitively so i guess that makes me a AoC fanboi too, there you have it. Move along.

The most logical choise i see FC making would be:

No NDA on open beta, or lifted a few days in. NDA still active on close ones.

Seriously althou i worry they dont have enought to show past lvl20 (yeah i played Vanguard and almost preordered DnL (luckely got to try at friends place, saved me some cash))

Im still approving of game designers not releasing info before release. I mean its only in the mmo buisness ppl seem to want to have the guides ready of last boss at lvl1 beta stage and knowledge of the first fotm class before they even preorder the game. I sure as hell dont wanna know how ganon fights in next zelda game before they sell the game to me...

Then again, only in mmo buisness over 50% of the games released are unfinished or hardly playable, in difference to the other game markets (althou they sure as hell aint bullet proof either).

Still i love the idea of a game developer only hinting at some good stuff and keeping NDA. And hopefully the good stuff for once can deliver! at launch!

This is getting riddiculuse, spoiled brats keep whining omg noes its not open i have to pay to play the beta, the horror!

Why not take it to another level!

OMG only fir 50k players gets to play!! WHY IS TEH MADNZ NOT ENDZ! Thz is not 'U'PEN BETA!! I CANT PLAY IF IM NOT FAST ENOUGH! /wrist!

(I adhorse many new threads with this copypasted in!)

You dont pay to play AoC Open Beta, the open beta is avalible to Fileplanet premium members first 50k. By open they mean its not AoC Devs that decide the players anymore, its first come first served.

It certainly as hell aint a closed beta atleast, since that would imply AoC team would be choosing the players.

Also no amount of $ is going to AoC from this either. So its not a scam FunCom is planning on you, blame fileplanet >_>

In all the commenting about not caring about delays due to lacking PvP functions..your forgetting one key thing: for PvPers, the PvP functions are the only things that matter on release because that's all they're paying for. While PvE players may dabble in PvP and therefore not care if it's a little lacking at first, the PvP hardcore feel that it's a slap in the face not to have it all NOW...in fact they mostly feel slightled that they even have to go through the PvE storyline to even keep up with the items and such so they can PvP.

Personally, I say tough s*(@ to them because I'm a PvE player/dungeon crawler, but I can see why they would claim failure if what they want isn't in.

I agree the basic elements of PvP is a must at launch for the general public. However ill bet you more PvPs will stick to the game if the basic mechanics (you can actually fighta and duel on a somewhat balanced system) then if the game has it all at start but the basics are lacking, killing the normal fights aswell as the advanced mechanics like wars and sieges.

I stick to it with L2 as a perfect example, PvP combat was going crazy on the first months even if sieges took about 6 months to arrive. Hey look at WoW (NOTE: i severly HATE the BG concept) it only had basic combat at start, no BGs, no arena.. ppl fought eachother in epic fights on hillsbrad... Classes where unbalanced to ne end and bugs everywhere, but no major once. It was very playable.

I think alot of people are seriously confusing the sucess of mmo game launches to content. Vanguard didnt fail on the lack of content, EvE did NOT become a success becouse of content (at launch), WoW didnt have battlegrounds, pvp objectives or heck raids at launch... Lineage2 ... heh.. yeah..

Lets just say Lineage2 had extremly few quests, and fields of mobbs and a XP bar. No gear above C grade for a long time and so on. Lineage2 did not have siege unthill abour 4-6 monhs after launch, only empty castles.

i can go on. These games are all today in som sucess (dunno about VG thou, but i hear its getting better), heck many of them are considered to be all in the top games today by different players.

Im not saying there can be no content however, all these games (excl VG) sticked throu becouse what they did have was playable, you could kill mobbs without hickups and lag. You could actually run around and do most quests without bugs.. still there where major bugs in mosts, example WoW and the loot bug that ran rampant the first months.. crazy shit with a 50/50 % chance to have to sit 2 minutes after you loot.

VG in my opinion failed becouse to much content didnt work, and there where major flaws making the game unplayable (memory leaks running rampant). However when i didt get to play the content without hickups it was fun.

A certain amount of content surely has to be there, however if it aint working.. it shouldnt be put in. And endgame stuff has a severly lower impact on the big playerbase then the midgame/startergame. As shown with EvE, WoW, L2 adding the endgame as it comes served them all well. Malking sure the playability didnt make players leave.

Imagine yourself playing two games, the first one has few starter quests, nice graphics that dont lag to much and awesome starter dungeon with no flaws. While the quests are few theres still enough to go by. The crafting system is simple and working, nothing major "oooh" about it, quite week system compared.

The second game has shitloads of quests, a crafting system that is so big you feel you never gonna master it all and 3 dungoens before lvl10!. The graphics are nice however lags as hell on to many random spots and the quests are booring and many are not working. 2 of the 3 dungoens are  to buggy to complete in random groups couse stuff like elevators make ppl DC (VG pun intended).

now wich fucking game would you actually even have a chance to see the endgame of. The first is a perfect example of L2, the second can be compared to VG...

Playability, basic mechanics like combat, quests, crafting system must have playability. If it doesnt dont put it in.

Im with you sovrath ;)

Finally a game with Graphics, design and animations to rival Lineage2's UnrealEngine art.

However im also eagerly wathcing AoC for its... "open" PvP system to hopefully Rival L2 and EvEs PvP systems. This game still seems to lack alot of the finesse in animations and design still thou. The new trailer was nice, but severly edited.

And not to forget Spellborn which hopefully will also bring a new era to Arena-Style PvP/gameplay togheter with the "make your own look" system. Also lack animation design astill sadly.

Warhammer you say?, well hopefully it'll be the next WoW in line, with hopefully focus on World-PvP.. like oldstyle WoW. But i stopeed follow this game with all the extended releases, which are good but gives me headaches to recieve ;) - so i wait and see.

I definetly wont swollow all the warhammer Hype, as the Hype meter sais nothing, just look at games like Vanguard, DnL (lol) and so on... you will just get dissapointed by eating all the hype.

On a sidenote, i believe it will be many years unthill we see another game with a playerbase like WoWs. Numer 1 reason is most WoW players game from the "outside". These new games will mostely get players from the other mmorpgs, and most likely spread out. This is why even a "small" mmorpg title like EvE is considered one of the best mmorpg out there in its area (open PvP, Sci-Fi, Sandboxgames etc....).

WoWs playerbase size is coused alot by all the comercials they did to the gamers outside the mmorpg land. WoW grew like a monster while not taking or killing other games (to an extent ofcourse :) ).

Also just becouse many of these "new" mmorpg players liked WoW, does not mean they are what ppl in here call western-players. Many of these gamers have yet only played WoW... How do you know what other games theyll play?

Personally id say Aion looks ALOT more like the WoW style then AoC does... So according to the Western-Styled logic more WoW players would jump to Aion making it larger then AoC!

Shees..

And aslong as a game has enough playerbase to actively fill 1 big server, the game itself can be as good as any other to the ones on that server. Just look at games like EvE. Many players there wouldnt touch WoW with a 3 meter stick.

p.s - English is my second language, im perfectly aware of spellingmistakes and others errors...

Its quite amusing to see everyone putting the blame on bots and ebayers to the death of L2. Sure they are adding to the killing of the game, however...

Back in C1- C2 , the game flourished amongs the MMORPG-Players who was into the korean style games (Comming alot from games like ragnarok and such). Back in those days the grind was id say atleast 15 times as hard then it is to day in the grinding department(to lvl 75).

Heck level 40 was comparable to lvl 70 in time needed.

Yet still there were shitloads of ppl partying up 9 man teams and had shitloads of fun grinding away. And the Farmers back then actually harrassed players... not like the bots today which more often then not even move for live players.

The number 1 reason this game died, was and is becouse of the developers, and its becouse today you grind to 70+ easiest in duo/trio on hunting grounds that are much easier then the group areas. This is also a place and size where sceond account buffers flourish. This was to make soloing easier, which only ended in ppl soling with OOP buffs, which ended in a XP rate much higher then supposed.

When ppl start to go solo or small groups/buffbots instead of the exciting groupdoungeons... well the ppl who have fun grinding the dangerous but usually more rewarding places with friends move along... and along they moved.

This started to show in C3, while some ppl 60+ still grouped then in ToI and various places, more and more quit or got second accounts or rerolled damage classes with buffbots.

C4 was all about buffaccounts, by now almost everyone had leveled their own buffer, or used their old main buffer with there new dmg class.

I can rant on... Today mostely all players still playing are those who still got friends and stick to the old way of grouping even with the slower rate and harder difficulty. Or the ones who embraced the cheatcodes to get past the grind/game, to the PvP.

Top 3 reasons the L2 game died out amongst the normal legit players:

#1: Solo/duo on easy mode > 9 man hard mode (Both in XP rate and Adena rate)

#2: The easy way of dualboxing togheter with the best XP places

#3: Ebayers and Botting (which grew expensionally with #1 and #2) - this spot was held by Farmers before the wave of bot programs.

When point 1 and 2 didnt exist in C1 and C2, even with cheater controlling the servers, the legit normal players just got mad and wanted revenge. Even when farmers where harrassing and ebayers controlling in C1 and C2 the game was still very much alive.

This is the thoughts of a old time Lineage2 hardcore fan, legit since C1 (excl having 2 accounts), who have fought the farmers (and enjoyed it actually) and cursing at the XP/group changes and botting programs since C3...
