You forgot something about Blizzard though.  Like any of the blizzard game, they won't anything until it is damn well ready.  More importantly, they released the game with "EVERYTHING" they promise to avalible for the player base.  PvP worked (although not perfectly balance and have few bug), PvE dungeon plenty, mostly bug free quest, and crafting implemented and functional.  Although not perfect, most of the problem with WoW early on have to do more with the server than the game itself.  The problem with so many people getting angry at Funcom is because like vanguard, they release a game that still play like beta and lying through there teeth about it just to sell more copy.

Although I must concede that most company don't that the luxury of unlimited budget and time like blizzard do.

LIE!!

There was NO battleground!

And I know there was more... just dont remember cause I quit it after 2 weeks... but the forums were as bad as any other... and if the server downtimes they had is considered as "nothing" than Age of Conan had a GOD-LIKE release... lol

Please AOC nuthugger, do not dare to compare this piece of a game to WOW.  WOW will always be number one when you compare it to half rate games like this.

I was all behind this game, even before most of you knew anything about AOC.  Played AO way back when Notum Wars(First AO expansion) came out, hell FUNCOM's AO was pretty much my first MMO.  But you have to call it right down the middle on this one, AOC nor pretty much any other MMO can hold a candle to what WOW was able to pull off.

WOW was a huge sucess from the beggining  and pretty much had everytyihg it promised to have at launch, AOC on the other hand?... lol I don't think so.

It looked good on paper, to bad games are not played on paper anymore.

Always sounds good, but then the hardcore guilds come along and dominate you.  Then it all comes full circle as to why games don't incorporate it into MMOs where gear is your strength.

Thats pretty much what killed Shadowbane if I remember correctly (well that and the fact that it sucked graphics wise)...

You act as if all MMO's are created the same, with the same amount of money poured into them.... That is surely not the cas, expecially with AOC.  Lets not forget the bought the fights to Conan prior to this game comming out.  Im sure that alone did not come cheap, at all.

Like the guy said right after this post you have no freaking clue what you are talking about.

BFR's and armor spam destroyed this here Massive First PERSON Shooter.

I called it last year on this one, I made several post about how it was such a poor choice by the developers to use the same or so called (revamped) game engine that they used to Anarchy Online.

Anyone that played Anarchy Online and participated in big PVP fights back in the day when Notum Wars was realeased knows exactly what im talking about.  This game engine is utter crap, and should have been shevled along time ago.

Funcom is a great company and makes very good MMO's but their in house game engine ruins it for them.

AoC may have gone gold, but the game has no longevity. Leveling is more linear than WoW, it's basically a console game (even past Tortage/lvl20).

Hype and 'promises' from the FC team may have brought them initial sales, but they wont keep the subs unless they have a HUGE HUGE HUGE content patch wtihin the first 2 months.

Indeed.

I call BS, if indeed this game "has no longevity" tells us your reason why other then a so called opinion from someone who probably is not in beta.... Give us some examples or just continue to troll.

That just plain silly, this is 2008 not 1998....

I absolutly despise going into stores and buying things like this..Mainly due to it being such a freaking hassle and noone knowing anything about Pre-Orders.. Usual they have to go in the back and ask a Manager who then has to dig around the back and find them.

Can I atleast order it online for a instore pick up?...Sheesh.

If you know anything about Computers at all (hardware wise) or can just read directions you can find on the internet just build one yourself.. That would be the cheapest route.

You can also buy a barebones system which is the the backbone basicly (motherboard, cpu chip, Case, Power supply, cooling system) from off of Ebay, check out the computer stores they got there.. I think I paid like 400 dollars or so for mines a year ago. Barebones systems come already put together,  then you can hit up a site like New Egg and get the rest of the stuff (Vid Card, Sound card,  Ram) which is easy as hell to install (seriously a monkey could do it).  You can do all of that or you could just hit up New Egg and buy everything from scratch, your just going ot have to put it all together.

Actually this is something that the beta testers should be able to speak about.. Since hopefully they have tested this aspect of the game indepth.. However the the lack of replys from them to my question leaves me to believe they either have not tested this, have not seen this thread or do not want to reply to my thread.

Funcoms first MMO had huge problems in PVP lag wise due to the games engine.  If you do some research you can check it out for yourself and not take my word on that.  I was sceptical about these huge Siege battles when I learned they will be using that very same gamming engine just a upgraded version of it.

So I will ask agian beta testers,  while you were in beta did you guys actually do extensive test on the world PVP aspect of this game, And if so how as it?

As for meaningful world PvP, it's in the game, just not this external beta build.  The client size needed to remain relativly small for this test, as a result what was delivered is only a handful of the PvP mini games in order to give people a taste of what is to come, and for Funcom to collect additional PvP balance data.

Has PVP(not mini game PVP) been tested extensively though? Not just at low or high levels but ALL levels?

I really do not want to play WOW version 2 in a Conan setting with the instance PVP crap.. I want real world PVP back in my life, PVP and PVP were I actually feel like im fighting for something.

First off let me say that Balance in PVP is a huge selling point in my book.. I understand that there will always be some class that will do better in pvp then others, but what concerns me most is if there will be one or 2 classes that are way overpowerd. And from early reports that appears to be the case.

I really just do not understand how classes like the Ranger for example could have been overpowerd for so long in closed beta without any Red Flags going up...It makes me wonder what you people that were beta testing the game and the developers were really doing. If things like that were allowed to slip by perhaps its due to the fact that PVP was not really tested to much in this game.

For a game that list one of its major selling points as PVP and for them to not have thoroughly tested it tosses red flags all over the place for me.  What other hidden things in PVP have they yet to test? What other classes suddenly become overpowerd over others at certain levels.  I know alot of you WOW people will come in here saying PVP is not suppose to be balanced at all levels, BULL****.  First of all this is not WOW.  Second of all Funcom's other MMO (Anarchy Online) had PVP AT ALL LEVELS, meaningful PVP not the instance crap... You start owning land and pvping over it at level 20ish, and tons of people did.. I had to defend my level 20ish towers/land every day hours at a time.

So now that im done ranting I would really like to have a beta tester fill me in on how much PVP has really been tested in this game, and how serious Funcom is taking it.  So far it seems to me that they want to make a WOW clone and just instance PVP out since all I have been hearing about even before this PVP weekend, was the instance PVP games....  Maybe they plan on making a expansion like they did in AO that will bring in World PVP later...I dunno please fill me in with some info.

I have no issues with people partaking in the mini games as long as that's not the CORE of the pvp experience.  As long as the mini games don't provide rewards that people would otherwise be getting from all the work they do in the border kingdoms then I'm fine with it.  WoW has made me a bitter person towards any sort of Battlegrounds scenario.  The only solace I have is remembering how it worked in DAoC and can only hope that they keep it like that.  Even though DAoC's battlegrounds did reward you with Realm Points it would only work for the lower levels below the max level.  Once you maxed out on levels you'd be thrown out into the border kingdom equivalent areas and would have to fend for yourself.  You couldn't hide behind a set amount of people and hope that you'd fall through the cracks and still manage to benefit in some way.

Im with you I can't stand the fact that WOW became such a instance pvp driven game.. Funcoms other MMO Anarchy online while revolutionary in may ways also had some great PVP..

I would hate to think that this Company would try to become another Blizzard now and just go with the pvp in a bottle crap that is in WOW... World PVP is where it is at, and if AOC does not provide just that then what the hell would I want to leave WOW for?.

This better not be some writing on the wall that they probably will not have much World PVP...

My worst fear about the game appears to be right on the money.

Early word is that combat system is just as bad as I thought it would be....

Well first of all unless something changes this game will not have an open beta. 50k paid fileplanet subscibers is not an open beta sorry. I can call my cat a dog all day long that doesn't make him one. They said they would life the NDA "sometime" in may. So what they will lift it a week before release; that doesn't inspire confidence. Don't get me wrong they aren't obligated to do a real open beta or lift the NDA at all. If this game is actually good then I think it's a mistake to try and limit information. Now if this game is a pos then it makes perfect sense but I guess I'll find out here to some degree when this client is done downloading. This should be interesting if nothing else.

you don't understand though, i can't think of any game much less an MMO that the NDA was lifted until after a form of open beta has started.  AOC seems to be keeping to this standard if they keep to their word and lift it shortly after the initial rush is over after may 1st

WOW was the only MMO I know of that lifted its NDA prior to a open beta of any type.  But then agian everyone was loving the game so why not.. You would be hard pressed to find a bad review of the game back then, which is why I think more then anything it was such a huge success.

And this guy is admitted into Beta's,  while people like me who have been with this game and their other  MMO from damn near the beggining get left out in the cold.

Wonderful...

It took them over a year to actually finish it.

Crap Shadowlands will go down on my list as possible the worst expansion to a game ever.  That expansion alone killed Anarchy Online for me and many others.. What was a PVP dream game for me turned into a barren waste as everyone that I used to PVP agianst or knew left shortly after that crap expansion hit.

Damn....
