General: NeverDie Announces Hunt: The Thing
News Discussion « General Discussion 9/23/11 10:31:18 AM
You mean the second movie. JC's version was a remake itself, alhough it followed the short story accurately versus the original version staring James Arness as the Thing. |

I already played DAOC 2, and canceled. It was called Warhammer Online. |
|
|
There is no DAOC 2 because MMO sequels have a rocky history. AC 2 failed, both Ultima sequels were canceled while still in production. EQ2 is the only success story and it had a rocky start. No one else has really tried a sequel likely for these reasons.
Edit: I forgot Linneage 2, the only big success story in sequels. It was a huge leap in graphics and gameplay which likely accounts for it's success.
So that would make the score for sequels 1 win, 3 losses and 1 draw (EQ2). |

Thank you to those who actually read what I posted and gave helpful replies. You pretty much confirmed what I could tell in those 5 minutes, that there is nothing really new here.
BTW: The games I am looking forward to the Fallout mmo, SWTOR and The Secret World. I was looking forward to The Agency.
I think the real issue is that I'm burned out on Fantasy games in general. Between MMOS, CRPGs and tabletop games I've been playing fantasy genre games for 30 years now. It's a bit played out for me. |

I've played a lot of MMOs and just because something is new is no longer a reason to play. I'm looking for MMOs that are fun from the begining to the end game. I'm looking for innovation and a new look at the genre because honestly, I'm getting burned out on the standard formulas. Which brings me to Rift. I got bored in 5 minutes. I won't go into the specifics of what I don't like or do like, that's not really the point. The point is I got bored that fast in a new MMO. There was no sense of discovery or newness at all, everything felt like I'd done it already.
So what exactly is the appeal for Rift. I'm not looking to rag on the game I can see a lot people that really love the game and I say enjoy, but I just couldn't make myself play past those first 5 minutes. It felt so mind numbingly boring to me.
Please don't tell me I need to play more than 5 minutes to truly grasp the game, if a game can't catch my attention in the first five minutes then why should I plod along the boring part to get to something good, the whole game should be fun.
So again, why is RIFT worth my money? Please I really want to like this game but if the most exciting and engaging part of the game is the box cover, I can't justify the cost. |

General: Pirate Galaxy: Fully Featured Facebook MMO

This isn't a new game, just the Facebook client is new. |

Acronyms come from the Pen & Paper days as every RPG tried to title itself into a snazzy acronym (D&D, V&V, T&T). |

How likely? Very likely as they already announced it and yes I paid for the lifetime and if I remember it comes with the ability to play a former Borg. |

Originally posted by Colonial Actually AoC has the same rules as other games and many players were shocked at being banned over their explicit conduct in a game with naked prostitutes and foul language dialog by NPCs. Go figure. However allowing a random invite into your private team without warning them about your use of foul language was your mistake. You don't know how old that player was or who was watching their screen. Even if it was a young person who didn't care what you said, their parent could walk by and see what you wrote and they could have filed the appeal. Your are right to assert that private chat among consenting players should be perfectly fine, however you added a non-consenting player to the mix and the CoC clearly states that it doesn't matter which chat channel you use when saying anything offensive, it's still a violation. Next time you need to screen the random adds to your group. |

They are pefectly within in their rights to publish any piece of crap they want to. I don't have to try and make a better game any more then I have to make a better car or dishwasher. It is perfectly within my rights to take my money elsewhere. Deal with it. |

Would you purchase DarkFall without an Open Beta/Free Trial?

I wouldn't even play it for free, why the heck would I pay for it. |

If you do not like sandbox games - DO NOT BUY DF
General Discussion « Darkfall 2/16/09 2:51:55 PM
LOL! To the OP: I'm sure plenty of people won't be buying DF and it has nothing to do with liking or disliking sandbox games. |
