I agree...I like how Turbine keeps developing classes so people keep playing and advancing them.

You do LOTRO a disservice mentioning it in the same sentence as AoC..d'oh! I did too!!!!

In Turbine's defense, the books and movies leave a lot of room for interpretation as far as Moria is concerned...we only see about 1/1000 of the place.  Remember, there are far fouler things than orcs in the deep places of the world....

I gather the "alien" looking monsters can be mutated orcs and trolls, from working too close to the lava...

I played L2 also and I agree what people call a "grind" in LoTRO is a walk in the park compared to L2, I'm not a grind-aholic so it took me over a year to hit lvl52, I ended up hightailing it and letting my friend take over the account.  I traveled throughout the mmorpg wilderness until lotro came out and I've never been happier (except that I chose the $9/mo plan instead of lifer, but oh well).  Anyways, I took longer than alot of people to hit 50 in lotro as well, but the depth of the quests and characters made my trip well worth, with more than a few scenic routes at that ;). 

Sit back, relax, and DO THE QUESTS...you'll be glad you did ;)

Great news for us, bad news for the haters, they don't have a foot to stand on, hehe.  They have an option to extend as far as 2017 as well, and to develop other Tolkien stories.  Dare I hope that there'll be a Silmarillion-based mmo in the future as well? 

Anyways, for the time-being I'm more than happy with LOTRO and will definitely be playing it well into the next decade (unless all they say about 2012 being the end of the world is true).

I'm not giving up...though I am gonna go on with life and not even look at SoG until next week and hopefully the most grievous kinks have been worked out.

When the game's at the starting screen. Anyone else encounter this? I read that they were having trouble with account authentication. So that might be it.

j/k. seriously though, this game is crap. i can't even log in. i just get a damn run-time error. somethin about a missing file. this is what happens when u go peer-to-peer for distribution. and since i paid $60, they could at least have sent me a cd or something with the game on it. or at least enough to patch everything when i log in. why is farlan so cheap?

If these files do not appear in that directory, you will need to turn on hidden file types. To do so, please select the "Tools" option at the top of your open foler, then select "Folder Options." Next, click the "View" tab and select "Show Hidden Files."

The problem is that there's no info or news on the website...basically the only option is to sit and wait until they get they're house in order. I really want this game to fly, but it seems that when the going gets tough, the servers shutdown.

No SoG until Thursday...they're postponed so many times already...wouldn't surprise me.
