I hear the "pay to win" scenario being thrown around alot. This in NOT what lotro's model about, you can buy helpful items and stuff to make adventuring less, let's say, tedious, but the gear, weapons, items you need to be successful in game will still come from drops and questing. I like what Turbine is doing and I'm SOOOO keeping my founders subscription! Party on! |

Lord of the Rings Online: Turbine Announces Free to Play
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 6/04/10 11:00:45 AM
Well, I presently pay the $9/mo sub, as for f2p, I think it'll help me level up my alts better due to all the freeloaders coming on (j/k...lol). Just hope they'll continue my present sub and hook me up w/unlimited stuff...maybe even expansions. We'll see. Though I definitely do NOT think this will kill the game. The dynamics will change appreciably, but not kill it. LOTRO's still my main game and will be for some time. All in all, with today's economic problems facing the US and the looming debt crisis in Europe's economies, I think this decision is smart and far-sighted on Turbine/WB's part. |

Lord of the Rings Online: Mines of Moria Screens
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 9/26/08 12:36:23 PM
In Turbine's defense, the books and movies leave a lot of room for interpretation as far as Moria is concerned...we only see about 1/1000 of the place. Remember, there are far fouler things than orcs in the deep places of the world.... I gather the "alien" looking monsters can be mutated orcs and trolls, from working too close to the lava... |

Lord of the Rings Online: Steefel on Mines of Moria and Book 13
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 4/11/08 9:13:49 AM
I played L2 also and I agree what people call a "grind" in LoTRO is a walk in the park compared to L2, I'm not a grind-aholic so it took me over a year to hit lvl52, I ended up hightailing it and letting my friend take over the account. I traveled throughout the mmorpg wilderness until lotro came out and I've never been happier (except that I chose the $9/mo plan instead of lifer, but oh well). Anyways, I took longer than alot of people to hit 50 in lotro as well, but the depth of the quests and characters made my trip well worth, with more than a few scenic routes at that ;). Sit back, relax, and DO THE QUESTS...you'll be glad you did ;)

Turbine extend it’s license until 2014
General Discussion « Lord of the Rings Online 2/24/08 11:23:16 AM
Great news for us, bad news for the haters, they don't have a foot to stand on, hehe. They have an option to extend as far as 2017 as well, and to develop other Tolkien stories. Dare I hope that there'll be a Silmarillion-based mmo
Anyways, for the time-being I'm more than happy with LOTRO and will definitely be playing it well into the next decade (unless all they say about 2012 being the end of the world is true |
