wonder where will the new PvMP area be

Can't  wait until Isengard next year!  Wonder if there'll be a romp through Orthanc and how they'll play that.  Also wondering if  Fangorn Forest will be introduced

Ok, fine...now get to updating already...I want to be in Rohan by Summer ok!!!!  lol

I hear the "pay to win" scenario being thrown around alot.  This in NOT what lotro's model about, you can buy helpful items and stuff to make adventuring less, let's say, tedious, but the gear, weapons, items you need to be successful in game will still come from drops and questing.

I like what Turbine is doing and I'm SOOOO keeping my founders subscription!  Party on!

Oh and crafting as well!

I've never been a "search is your friend" forums cop, but GEEEZ people!  Even when the information and facts are right in front of you, you still believe just the opposite is going to occurr, guess that's why Palin is so popular in this country...lol

I honestly thought this was some kind of joke.

I guess DDO has been doing even better than I thought, because I was under the assumption that LOTRO still had a decent population. Crazy time for the genre.

The game is doing well it has over 300 sub and has been growing since it was released just like Eve. However, through ddo they saw what a f2p model done right can achieve. They wouldn't have done this if they didn't think they would make more money.

I hope the 300 subs is a typo right?...lol

So, I just bought the game a few months ago, but cancelled before my free month was up - does that mean that if I rejoin the game, my account will be gutted?  I'll lose my warden character, unless I pay for it?  I'll lose my wardrobe tab?  Access to skirmishes?  Etc?  Or because I bought the game, I'd get to keep basics like that?

I'm not sure how long they keep toons if you drop gameplay, you should check faq's on lotro.com or something...

Oh, and this caught me COMPLETELY off guard!  Now...WHERE'S THE ROHAN EXPANSION!!!!

Well, I presently pay the $9/mo sub, as for f2p, I think it'll help me level up my alts better due to all the freeloaders coming on (j/k...lol).  Just hope they'll continue my present sub and hook me up w/unlimited stuff...maybe even expansions.  We'll see.  Though I definitely do NOT think this will kill the game.  The dynamics will change appreciably, but not kill it.  LOTRO's still my main game and will be for some time.

All in all, with today's economic problems facing the US and the looming debt crisis in Europe's economies, I think this decision is smart and far-sighted on Turbine/WB's part.

It was as if a million Star Wars fans cried out at once, and then were silenced...

SOE? Really, Lucas Arts? You are the Bart Simpson of the universe, and SOE is the electrified snack on he counter. And you Just. Don't. Learn.

Homer Simpson's more like it...

I liked the clone wars games for the Wii, but this game has SOE behind it.  Only means one thing...$$$$$$.  SOE is so greedy, I won't touch any of thier games.  They hook you in, then next thing you know you'll have a $50,000 credit card bill in the mail lol

Aww, they ain't THAT bad...maybe $10,000...:P

I like to feel some kind of connection w/my toons, a "history" sort of...never been big on raiding, so I don't think I'd bite.

ship'em to north korea w/full disclosure of what they did, kji will have some good sadistic ideas for them

Aaah, Earth & Beyond...I would totally jump back in that game if it ever came back.  I found the storyline captivating and the exploration aspect was A+++

I agree...I like how Turbine keeps developing classes so people keep playing and advancing them.

You do LOTRO a disservice mentioning it in the same sentence as AoC..d'oh! I did too!!!!

In Turbine's defense, the books and movies leave a lot of room for interpretation as far as Moria is concerned...we only see about 1/1000 of the place.  Remember, there are far fouler things than orcs in the deep places of the world....

I gather the "alien" looking monsters can be mutated orcs and trolls, from working too close to the lava...

I played L2 also and I agree what people call a "grind" in LoTRO is a walk in the park compared to L2, I'm not a grind-aholic so it took me over a year to hit lvl52, I ended up hightailing it and letting my friend take over the account.  I traveled throughout the mmorpg wilderness until lotro came out and I've never been happier (except that I chose the $9/mo plan instead of lifer, but oh well).  Anyways, I took longer than alot of people to hit 50 in lotro as well, but the depth of the quests and characters made my trip well worth, with more than a few scenic routes at that ;).

Sit back, relax, and DO THE QUESTS...you'll be glad you did ;)

Great news for us, bad news for the haters, they don't have a foot to stand on, hehe.  They have an option to extend as far as 2017 as well, and to develop other Tolkien stories.  Dare I hope that there'll be a Silmarillion-based mmo in the future as well?

Anyways, for the time-being I'm more than happy with LOTRO and will definitely be playing it well into the next decade (unless all they say about 2012 being the end of the world is true).
