Like many people, I originally came to these boards looking for information about Vanguard.  I'm disapointed to say that what I found was simply the average MMO complainers getting a jump start on complaining about a game that they haven't even played yet.  For anyone else new to this forum, here's what I've found after about 15 minutes of reading:

#1  People talking like they've played the game.  When you say  "This game sucks" you're implying that you play the game.  How else would you know it sucks if you're not currently in the beta test?

#2  People complaining about SoE.  I know the quote by Brad McQuaid saying that SoE has no control over the game's development has been posted here, probably multiple times.  Yet, for no apparent reason, you still complain.  They're in charge of publishing.  Saying that SoE is destroying the game is like saying the 7th Harry Potter book will be horrible because it's being published and distributed by a certain company.

#3  People just being negative for the hell of it.  They've seen some screens, they've read the limited information about Vanguard, and they've managed to convince themselves that they know this game will bomb.  So, of course, first thing they do is run to this forum to post about their recent discovery.


I'm sorry to say that I generally feel worse about the overall MMO community after reading this forum.  I mean, some of you are grown adults sitting behind your computers and flaming a game that you haven't played.

I know they're out of Dev bucks but its no excuse to force the player base to pay for a game still in developement.  IMHO this is basically what Sony did with EQ2.

Beta 5 is basically a stess test / PR stunt in most games anyway so that means its not too far after that.

First let me start by saying I am an ex-vet of what used to be SWG and yes I hate what happened to it and it's just plain sad that a game that had such potential was flushed down the toilet.

Now dont get me wrong I am not posting to start an arguement with anyone, hey if you like the game as it is now then more power to you. However I feel something needs to be said to anyone playing this game now so maybe they understand better as to why the ex-vets come here and voice their opinions even though we dont play the game anymore.

Plain and simple we are all Star Wars lovers which is one reason the community in this game was by far the best in the MMO industry! When SOE did what they did they totally destroyed not only a game but a community of players and I will even say families since my guild was like a second family. Everyone knows when you take something from someone that is important to them they will fight until it is returned to them or corrected in some way.

Unfortunately this will never happen so the anger grows because we all know what this game could of been but instead the devs took the easy way out by trying a totally different system instead of fixing the system that was in place, why you ask? Because the Devs of this game changed to many times and the newer devs didnt know how to fix some of the things from previous devs so their solution was lets just re-do everything and go from there. This is why you see them trying to bring things back that they took out in the first place.

Anyway back to my point.. you will see ex-vets until this game is unplugged or old servers brought back because since this game was taken away from us we have a huge VOID that just cant seem to be filled by anything else and trust me we all have tried. I miss my characters, guild members and the great community that once was so even though we know its hopeless we still fight to let SOE know that they made the biggest mistake by changing this game and ruining what once was.

Its made by SIGIL, not SOE!! Soe is just the publisher, they take care of billing, the servers, advertisement etc...Sigil are the developers, they make the game and have full control over it and then also take care of customer support. In short everything in game is taken care of by sigil and everything else on the side that really doesnt matter soe does.

I finally found it!!

This is how I finally got one.. I took a printout of the announcement and the SKU# which for Vanguard is SKU 8165861 to Best Buys around in my area.

The reason some Best Buys do not know they have it is because it is not considered software or a game since it is a pre-release so it will not show up on their computers when they search for it. However if you ask them to search by using the SKU# 8165861 it will bring it up on there computer showing it is a pre-release!!

I am so glad I read about this on the official Vanguard forums and I am just trying to pass the info on here.

Yeah I cancelled my online order with them, didnt see any reason to wait for them when I could go to best buy and get it.

So far nothing has been said by the dev team as far as system requirements and most of us are specualting it to be pretty high due to the graphics.

I would wait to buy any type of upgrade stuff until we have a better idea as to what to expect. A lot of things can happen before beta ends so the best thing to do is wait until we get an official word on the matter.
