Thx for the replies, guys.

I asked about it (mounted combat) because of this thread titled ''Can't mount in mounted comat''. Here is the link:

http://uoforum.com/threads/cant-mount-in-combat.56023/

*IF* mounted combat is still available in the game, just as F0dell54 mentions, I think we might indeed hook-up in the game and have some fun:)

PS! I have also heard that this game had recently received a ''face-lift'' a.k.a a graphics upgrade or something like that (to make the game look better), is there any truth behind this rumor?

Thx again for all the replies : )

Hello!

Im just wondering something.

Is there any PVE mounted combat in this game?

Umm, basically think of the mounted combat in Everquest II or something basic/simple like that.

Im not asking for/demanding something as fancy as Mount&Blade style mounted combat in an MMO :D

But im just wondering if I have the option of riding into combat anytime I want - without getting off my horse first every time I wanna initiate combat?

PS! Maybe we can fight mounted whenever we want on the ''open World map'' but mounts are restricted in dungeons etc, I would be perfectly okay with it :)

Im sick. Cought a cold and fever. Got headache, tiredness etc, the regular.

YET ALSO at the same time (STILL a year after surgery) unfortunately I am suffering from lasik related complications (dry eyes, mild to severe pain in both eyes, fluctiating vision) etcatera the list goes on :(

Thank god lately my eyes have been getting SLIGHTLY better. I recon ANY positive signs better than having none at all at the moment :) Don't wanna jinx it though :D Seeking medical assistance tomorrow ofcourse.

Well, ok.

Than, why the hell am I telling you all this?

Because I need a rather addictive (lol or at least interesting) RPG or MMOrpg to play as I am right now (YES I KNOW. The issue can be VERY SUBJECTIVE, so I am asking for *YOUR* personal opinions regarding the subject matter at hand, not mine :D ).

Simpler gameplay mechanics, easy of use, and user friendly and so on.

Not too many statistics.

AND what the heck do I mean by; ''easy on the eyes'' ? I mean that the gameplaygraphics shouldn't be too fast/too Quick!

Not too many stuff to keep an eye on on the secreen.

AND preferably ''UNSTRESSFUL''. Sure some minor level of stress/excitament is not only acceptable, but also appriciatable. ALAS, too much of it could me a hindrance to my enjoyment of the game as I currently am : (   (So a 40-Man raid for Life or Death in any mmo (that still has it) and or EvE online PVP isnt my cup of tea, *RIGHT NOW*.

lol. I have recently tried an MMO that might be called soft-core during the beginning levels at least (Wildstar), AND UNFORTUNATELY - FOR ME - even THAT game felt a Little ''too fast / too convoluted'' right now (requiring faster reflexes, and Eyes straining to keep up with all the speed, Graphics, and colors and so on).

FINALLY: Why have I explained all that ''boo-hoo im sick'' stuff?

SO that people (hopefully) wont hate me when they read my post, thinking (in their minds) that I am just an other Carebear who is after changing/destroying the games that players that are ''more or less hardcore'' are enjoying now. For such is not my intent or desire at all. I am just looking for a game that would better fit my current predicament, is all.

Thank you for your time and attention.

Please do exonerate me for any and all spelling errors that I made during the creation of this post.

Cheers :)

Sorry for repeating what seemingly everyone else have said here, but looking at that picture, I immediately thought of;

Ahem; preparing the robot voice........ ''Battlestar Galactica (the original series)''.

Oh, yes and that armor looks horrible.

My bad.... HONESTLY my bad. Apologies.

I have already played Half-life games as well (and enjoyed em immensely, especially II), but forgot to add'em to the list.

About Firefall: an excellent suggestion :) I might en up playing it if I find nothing else that I can fancy, but seeing that its one of the very few games that I might be interested in (given my preferences detailed in the OP) I wanna ''keep/save'' it for a while until something else shows up on my radar.

About the joke: yeah, Tabula Rasa was an interesting game (IMHO)......... WAS :D

Hard Reset: HEHEHE ROFL! :) U guys read my mind exactly! Killer robots from Earth or elien robots from outer space!!?? :D

Alien Isolation; Dang, its the only ''Alien (trademark) game that I HAVEN'T been interested in, for some reason. I dunno why.... I tried it at a friends Place and it simply felt underwhelming to me (no disrespect meant to the fans of the game).

XCOM: Yupp, add Xenonauts and even Falling Skies, as well. An outstanding suggestion (perhaps the epitome of humans/Earth vs Alien invaders theme), BUT SINCE THEY ARE STRATEGY GAMES (with the exception of ''the Bureau'' that I listed in OP) these aren't exactly what im lookin' for right now.

I Think that between me and you guys, we have created a historical list of all ''Humans vs Aliens'' type of shooters that we can think of, eh?

Do please lemme know if you have any other suggestions regarding a game of choice with human vs Alien theme :)

Cheers.

Auch, Dammit, how could I forget Crysis and Destiny lol :D

THANK YOU for your replies, bros :)

But I already own both games and finished all the Crysis games to boot :) But you had no way of knowing that and otherwise your suggestions were excallent.

Well, the game can be an MMO, or singleplayer (with or without a multiplayer Component), but I need (at least) a samblance of mission/Campaign structure. (So...... not looking for an ''arena game'' ). Can be either first or third person.

Games that I've tried (and liked) so far:

Resistance series (1,2,3), /// Gears of War series (all of'em), /// Halo series (about all games that I can think of uhuh), /// Crysis Series, /// Dead Space Series (at least nr 3 had necromorphified aliens? : P ), /// Various Aliens vs Predator games, /// XCOM: the Bureau, /// Earth Defence Force Games (console), /// Warhammer 40k Space Marine (..sorta?), /// Destiny (waiting for further updates/expansions for this game), /// Doom/Quake/Unreal/Duke Nukem series (various iterations)

Not exactly what im looking for:

Borderlands (1,2,Prequel) : Totally AWESOME, one of my favourite game series ever (love coop in it), BUT it ain't the kind of game that I'm looking for right now (too loose Campaign structure and not much of that ''desperate fight for survival against aliens'' vibe IMHO).

Killzone Series: Loved the earlier iterations EXCEPT the latest PS4 version (ugh). Alas, as far as I can remember, Helghast ain't exactly aliens (more like somewhat slightly ''mutated'' humans) so, not what im looking for.

Serious Sam, Duke Nukem, Painkiller: Yeah, both legends on their own, but im looking for something a liiiiitle more ''serious'' right now, pun intended (Think Resistance, Gears of War etc).

Metro 2033: Already finished the first game. It was Amazing. Bought both the original AND the enhanced edition of the second game. Corrupt save file issue (brand new very powerful computer fully updated, no other issues with other games).

Bullet Storm: Cool game, finished it, but wasn't really much about aliens anyways, if memory serves.

System Shock 1,2: I've Heard they are Amazing games, but a Little too old for my taste.

Bio Shock series: Played em'all, awesome games once again, but not really vs aliens / fight for the survival of mankind in face of Alien anslought : D

Stalker Series: Love'em...... but mutants and such, not much about aliens, me thinks.

Dead Island / Dying light games: Zombies, and further mutated zombies they may be..... but they arent aliens, eh?

Now thinking of....

Hard Reset: (is this vs aliens or ''evil corporations'' ?

The Order 1886: I KNOW that it ain't exactly about fighting aliens, and Heard that it has quite a short Campaign, and no multiplayer. But IN YOUR OPINIONS, what do u guys Think? Worth a shot for a bloke like me ? :D

SORRY for the uber-long post, I had some time as my new mobile phone was updating / restoring old profile from Itunes heheh. Cheers :)

Super-Mega-God of NECRO mode - Initiating! :D

I could create a new post, but mine is still on the first page of the forums after about 2 years, so I thought it would be needless to duplicate it :D

My question still stands, SORT OF.

SInce 2013, have they made any changes to ship-to-ship ''naval'' combat, at all? Has it gained a more ''important/prominent'' role in the game somehow?

I tried the game back in the day, but only tasted the lower levels. Generally speaking; it was fun while it lasted, BUT early level ship battles (at least for me) felt rather underwhelming. Why? No directional damage at all, so u just stop somewhere and spam your 3-5 attack buttons all the time without doing much anything else........ at all :D

FURTHERMORE, outright sinking enemy ships usually offered much less XP and rewards such as loot in comparasion to boarding them, so I almost ALWAYS had to board enemy ships in the end (for turn based ''on-foot'' combat) which in and out of itself was fun .......... sure.....

BUT it STILL somehow ''sucked'' in my opinion, coz if all u wanna enjoy is ship-to-ship battles without* having to engage in turn based on-foot combat EVERY BLOODY TIME u win such a fight, you would be knowingly giving up a sizeable amount of rewards (as mentioned above), which in turn made the whole deal less fun to play (for me).

What I mean is; sure, exploring the floating islands/continents ''on foot'' or on a mount was interesting, and fighting in turn-based melee/magic/ranged combat could feel like a breath of fresh air from the airship battles.

But IMHO the ship battles were far too few in between, and even then - since they ultimately (almost) always ended up in boarding actions anyways, I personally felt that I had never gotten the chance to fully explore/enjoy this ''naval'' aspect of the game :(

But maybe, (after about a couple'o years now) things have changed a little?

Maybe now there is greater emphasis on ship-to-ship combat on higher levels? Or they made such naval/air encounters a more involving/interesting/rewarding experience somehow?

Well, I dunno, so im asking you bros! :)

@Reklaw: An excellent suggestion, sir.

But, may I inquire about the ''single player qualities'' of the game (Dying Light) ?

Is it possible to complete the main campaign and sidequests in single player and is the game STILL fun in your opinion even when its played without the aid of other players? (Yes, I know, its all VERY SUBJECTIVE, so im asking for your OPINIONS, as I said :) ) ?

I am asking this coz im playing Dead Space 3 in ''couch-COOP'' mode with a friend. I have 2 computers. One of them is a rather uber and very new stationary computer, the other one is a laptop.... an ASUS ROG laptop from 2011's. The ROG plays Deadspace 3 without breaking a sweat on highest settings (connected to a (ultra) HD tv), BUT I fear it might not fare as well when playing a new game such as Dying Light... I suppose I should inquire further into this issue, matching my Asus specs with the recommended system requirements of the game. Can also post it here if anybody is interested.

And I just have a few more questions, if I may.

Even though the game is played in first person shooter mode (which I think it is), do we still get to customize the clothing of our character? Is there an inventory screen of sorts where we can see him/her dressed? Can we choose to outfit ourselves in some or other sort of armor, or anything like that?

Cheers!

PS! Why am I talking wierd like that? Coz im brainwashed by the uber-awesome scavenger bots (with personality pack DLC) in Deadspace 3. They just sound so polite, funny and ......... so very British :D

Well, first of all, allow me to apologise in case this thread has been posted in the wrong forum section.

I am looking for a game similar to Dead Space 3, be it online and/or offline.

BUT, what the heck do I mean by ''Dead Space 3'' ? Survival horror, ''sorta rpg elements'', etc?

Please allow me to explain, bros!

What im looking for is;

-A game with a sci-fi setting.

-Preferably played from a third-person perspective.

-Preferably survival-horror elements, (preferably, BUT its NOT a ''must'').

-Get to customize the appearance of my character via selecting different suits of armor etc.

-Get to customize the ''stats'' on my armor (or otherwise a similar ''leveling-up'' system or something).

-The ability to choose and customize my weaponry (or to be able to build'em from ground-up'').

-Some sort of main storyline missions along with ''freeform/side-mission'' gameplay.

And basically; here is a list of game that I have already tried/played etcatera; Mass Effect Series, Deux Ex Series, Wasteland 2, Wildstar, SWTOR, STO, Firefall, KOTOR I&II, Fallout Series, Dead Space Series (Well, du'h :D ), Eye; Divine Cybermancy, and XCOM games (not really what im looking for right now, but anywho :P )...... and maybe im forgetting something...

Much appriciated if anyone could help me solve this puzzle :D

Thanks for the replies guys, puts my mind at ease.

Much appriciated : )

Greetings!

I want to run FFXIV on my PS4, and my friend - who happens to have a PS3 - wants to run his game on the PS3 (Surprise! :D )

The question is (as the title suggests);

If he runs FFXIV Realm Reborn on his PS3, and I run mine on my PS4,

can we STILL play/adventure together on the same server?

PS!

Before asking the question here, I have googled it and the answer to my question seems to be '' yes '' .

But just asking here to be sure :)

Thx for all possible answers : )

Regarding the first question;

Well, we all have our own opinions, and I am not* going to state my personal and subjective experiences with EvE Online as facts here.

All I can say is, I effing love the game :D But IMO it demands too much time (as I said, in MY  HUMBLE experience)...... UNLESS..

Unless I am doing high-sec PVE agent-missions.

Only than do I feel like I can login to the game, get a few missions done, and have fun doing so (even blowing up NPC internet ships can be satisfactory to me cuz the graphics look so damn sweet while I'm doing so).

But, I have to ask..

I recon it's been about 3-4 years (with the emphasis on 4) since I last played EVE online. Have there been any improvements to high-sec *PVE* content ever since?

High-Sec exploration, agent missions, wormholes (I think they used to be low/nullsec only but just asking to be sure).

Umm,, anything?

Regarding the second question;

I checked up on the recent update released for the game, and noticed that clone grades no longer exist? We all prolly have our own different versions of what ''hard-core'' means when it comes to a particular subject or a game, but I am asking about YOUR opinions here :) DO you Think that the game has become any less ''stressful and/or hardcore (etc, however you wanna define it) over the years? If the answer is yes, how so?

Thanks for reading and any possible answers.

Well, IMO the title says it all :D

What's your opinion? Take the plunge and start playing now, or wait for future updates that will prolly put this game on higher levels of the pedal of epicness?

Naturally, I searched for info (on the internet) regarding the game (to make up my own mind about it), but a few pointers and opinions would be appriciated :)

Add me to those surprised by how close GW2 and Wildstar are.  Either Wildstar isn't doing nearly as bad as recent press/hype would have us believe, or GW2 is in a heap of trouble.

So, umm,, honest question, which one is it?

Wildstar ain't actually doing so bad or it is GWII thats going down the hill?

Well, ofcourse I can only speak for myself.

I have previously played (and infact-enjoyed) MMO's such as Star Wars Galaxies and Auto Assault.

Both are dead now. And, yuup, I even enjoyed playing Auto Assault, it was a really good MMO, IMHO (if you like the vehicular combat and on-foot Town exploration thingy in a post-apocalyptic World, that is).

Sure, Auto Assault had some technical issues regarding the Graphics, Controls, and some bugs, so in the beginning I HATED that game, BUT after spending some time to reconfigure Controls and Graphics (etcatera), I LOVED IT.

Than, a few years later, it was shut-down :(

BUT there was STILL HOPE, yet. NCSOFT had promised us that they were releasing a new sci-fi MMO called Tabula Rasa, and that we were gonna get some free-stuff in TR for being previous AA players.

Well, guess what? Tabula Rasa's servers were shut-down soon after, as well.

Than there was Another (IMO) sweet online game (debatable if it was truly an MMO or simply a multiplayer game, but I wont go into it here) that was called; Hellgate London.

Yuuuup, same fate. It was shut down, as well. Another Company took over it, I tried it, and it was in such a horrible condition (from my experience of playing that version of the game) THAT I couldn't really play it.

Than another favourite of mine; Pirates of the Burning Sea. I know that SOE shut that game down, but they transferred the rights to another Company to run the game. Needless to say, I never Heard any good things about that Company, but hey, SOE was never so great, either (in my experience) and who knows, maybe its Worth it to give the new Company a shot? (I did the character/account transfer thingy back in the day, but I dunno if they still have my stuff, otherwise I would have no reason to play it).

And this reminds me of another MMO-ish game that was shut-down recently, called; Age of Empires Online (The title explains the game pretty well, me Thinks! :P)

Well, I bought that game, ALONG WITH dozens of DLCs on steam sales (STILL the whole thing probably cost me something like 50-70 euros) and this time the game was brought-down Before I ever got a chance to play it.

(Yeah, my bad. It was online since 2011 and I didnt play it, there were so many other single-player and MMOrpg's to go around I couldnt make it to my poor AoEO, sigh.... :D)

Earth & Beyond was my first MMO, ofcourse cancelled years ago, and also there was a Matrix Online(??) Game that I enjoyed playing (called... whatchamacallit...?) that ones a goner, as well.

Aion is another MMORPG that I really like, but we all know that NCSOFT transferred our accounts from their servers to Gameforge or what that new EU Company is called, and IMO, they are nowhere near as competent as NCsoft staff when it comes to running MMO's, and they seem to be slightly more greedy, too.

BUT ATLEAST im glad that the game is still alive, really :)

Warhammer Online was one of the few games in which I really had enjoyed the PVP(/pve) aspect when the game was released, and it is no more.........

Than, finally, we have Dragon's Prophet, with rumors inbound as to what is going to happen to the game, AS the Company seems to be in trouble.

Maybe the game will continue its existence for many more years, or maybe (hopefully NOT) it will be shut-down after 6 months from now :(

And another MMO that I purchased (but didnt play this one YET) is Wildstar. Now, even Before i have a chance to play the game, I keep hearing about Company lay-offs and etcatera.

Usually, such procedures are followed by even more noticable server mergers (if possible), a move to the so called ''free to play'' game-model, another Company buys the intellectual rights to run the game, or the worst-case scenario, the game will be shut-down permanently (NOT IMMEDIATELY, but first the updates will die, the population will begin to leave and than it will be a dead city even long Before its officially culled lol).

Why am I telling you all this stuff?

Most of the games I mentioned above are not just games that I have Heard of, but actually games that I 1-Purchased 2-Enjoyed playing (at least some of them)

I usually buy them when they are released (collector's edition - usually, with pre-order bonuses)

OR

I buy em when there is a sale (as in the case of Age of Empires Online)

So, either way, I usually pay for em, one way or another.

I buy MMOrpgs (at release) for full price, coz 1-I wanna support companies making them (if they have released an MMO that really seems to be interesting) 2-Than I keep the MMO I bought at release (collector's edition with preorder stuff) until the game is further updated with bugfixes and content, and until I have spare time to play it (work, family & friends come first, than games).

BUT NOWADAYS, im almost becoming too scared to pay full price for MMO's anymore. As the (MMO) market is so saturated with new releases (almost) every day, that THEY ALSO SEEM TO BE DYING DAILY uhuh...

Many MMO's that I payed full price+ for arent online anymore, and hell, I couldnt make it in time to play some of them in the first Place! :D

Its not the end of the world, but as an avid ''MMO-genre supporter'' (or whatever you wanna call it), im beginning to be more cautious about my wallet when it comes to such games.

I MEAN, SURE, AN MMO CANNOT BE KEPT ONLINE FOREVER, I know it, you know it, we ALL know it. But (IMHO-as far as I can tell) some mmo's seem to be going down so fast after their releases nowadays (OR AT LEAST plagued by very serious difficulties that the companies face), that it is sort of becoming too dang risky to invest in them anymore.

I mean, I can STILL buy and get into MMO's, but maybe not the collector's edition with preorder bonuses for FULL-PRICE. Maybe I'll wait until they go down in price, or until they are on-sale.

Maybe I wont buy them anyways UNTIL they go ''free2play''. And even than I wont spend that much Money on the game.

Sure, I can do that. BUT WONT THE DECREASED CUSTOMER FAITH IN THE PRODUCT (AND THUS THE SPENT MONEY ON PRODUCT) hurt the MMO industry negatively (at-least in the long run) ?

Well, just sharing my opinions about purchasing and/or otherwise investing in MMO's in todays world. So, what do you guys Think? Am I the only one who is starting to have decreased confidence in the MMO industry nowadays? :D

^^Heheh..,

Yeah, im just glad that I could activate the SSD without melting my computer or having to read loads of books/online litterature (I had enough of that during the years upon years I spent in university ).

Please.. no more books... :D

Problem Solved! I Think...... :D

Sorry for bothering you guys here like that, but I really wanted to make sure that I dindnt mess up my rather expensive computer by doing something stupid, thats why I asked here.

Now I think the new SSD is working well as it should; but feel free to discuss the issue further here if you want to (OR provide me with more heads-up : P) or otherwise this thread can be shelved&/deleted etc.

I have a rather new (only 5 Days old) computer.

It has already Windows 8.1 installed to its C: Driver by default (and I have NO PROBLEMS with that, I DONT want to reinstall windows onto a new disk or anything like that).

I have just bought a new SSD (Samsung EVO Basic 840 1TB)

And I want to ADD this disk to my system WITHOUT changing anything else.

The disk has been physically installed on my computer and connected properly by the technicians at the store from which I had bought my computer.

They ALSO made sure that the new SSD is recognized by BOTH Bios AND the device manager in windows 8.1

BUT they told me that they did not create a NEW VOLUME (?) for it,

which basically means that even though it is physically installed, and both bios and windows recognizes the disk, IT IS NOT USEABLE as of yet.

They told me I have to Active it (create a new volume??)  in diskmanager or something like that.

So I googled it, and ran: diskmgmt.msc

Upon doing that, I immediately got a question like: (Checked) Disk 1

MBR or GPT?

I googled it a little bit more, and chose MBR over GPT (legacy, fewer possible compatibility issues etc)

** BUT NOW, I dont know what to do after that :( **

And this is what I need help with.

..

Here is a little info about the disks on my computer:

I have a C: drive (windows installed on it)

and a D: drive (Good'ol fashioned harddisk 2TB)

E: (dvd rw)

F: (SSD 250gig)

and

G: (SSD2 250gig)

ALL of the above are seperate physical disks

NOW, I want to ADD A FINAL DISK, MY NEW Samsung EVO Basic 840 1TB.

And Im guessing that it should be the H or I drive or something like that....?

Than;

What should I do to enable it for use (as yet Another extra disk) in windows?

Thank you for Reading, for your time, and any possible answers :)

Thanks alot for all the replies I received in such a short notice.

Not thanking as a formality, but actually thank-you :)

Now, im thinking like I will be mostly fine with the graphics cards that are already inside my computer, and if anything, I ''MIGHT'' need a better CPU, perhaps..

BUT, here is the thing (just a little update);

My 690s are equipped with a MINI-displayport 1.2 (among other connection alternatives)

But the new screen is only capable of (REGULAR-SIZE) Displayport output.

Meaning that; they are incompatible, at least incompatible without any intervention from my side.

So, I thought about getting a Displayport to Mini Displayport cable (found one already in a local store),

but would that mean any reduced graphics quality and/or lag etcatera?

Thx again and sorry for peppering you with questions!
