Well, i like the fantasy-roman setting and all. Hope they get their act together, keep some players for a while so they can develop the game further, i would personally dip in, but all this negativity sorrounding this game is scaring me :D:D

a while ago i got a message from Trion worlds that their servers had been hacked and that i should update my login information......which I immediately did, and played for a few more days until my subscription ran out. (dec 30 2011)

Yesterday i was checking mmo news etc and got the sudden mmo.gamer lust to play Rift again for a while, and than i'd notice they had a ''free-come back weekend'' (whatchamacallit) going on..maybe? So i thought, why not?

Well, i tried to login to the game, but my attempt was promptly refused.

I tried a few more times but....nada.

Than i tried my OLD password, which was, not suprisingly-also refused.

THAN, i thought that the free weekend game-time thingy DID NOT APPLY TO MY ACCOUNT, so i decided to check my master-account on RIft/trion worlds homepage to re-subscribe to the game.

This is when things got kinda sour:(

Couldnt even login to their website.....anymore. Ok, something is definetly wrong here. i tried to look up their customer service info (which i thought would be hellishly hard to do) BUT TADAA!! It was really easy to find their support call number!

And when i called them, I waited in line like for about 5 SECONDS before i was hooked up with a properly english speaking customer service representant (well i dont live in an english speaking country, but its nevertheless appriciated).

Anyways, after a few questions, just within the grasp of minutes, NOT ONLY my account was accesible to me again, BUT i also immediately received a free 2-week playtime from Trion.

Problem solved, kind customer serviceman, PLUS 2 weeks of extra game time? Well trion, you are forgiven! :D:D

I say that coz i really dont go around buying any god damn gold etc in online games, (who the heck would it need in Rift anyways :P ? )

AND i have been playing MMORPGs casually for the last 13 years.

i wont call myself an expert or an mmo veteran (even) BUT i do know my way around to protect my account information (at least I had hoped so)

I dont exactly fall for the ''fake'' emails to snip my acc.info either. And im careful not to login to wierd websites that would use keylogger etcatera.

-So now that the problem is solved, the QUESTION is; why the heck could i not login to my account anymore? Do you guys have any leads?

I recently installed Hellgate Global (resurrection, whatever) with a huge anticipation and great hopes, AS I THINK I WAS ONE OF THE FEW PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY ENJOYED the game back than.....

But boy, oh boy, was I wrong!

GRAPHICS!! Its the ''NEw'' graphiczzzz!!

Back in the day (if memory serves;D) we could run Hellgate in dx9 and dx10 versions, and there were several bugs plagueing the game, and the memory leaks etc were especially bad in the dx10 version, SO I USED TO RUN THE GAME (more often than not) in DX9 and it was still a shweet looking game.

BUT NOW!* :(

Yeah, sure, u cant run the game at all now in dx10, AND ITS OKAY, BUT* the problem is; even in DX9 THE GAME LOOKS MUCH, MUCH WORSE THAN IT EVER DID BEFORE... dang....

At highest settings, the current hellgate global looks like the original hellgate londons lowest settings that were available.

Because of the reasons mentioned above (graphics bugs, performance issues, memory leaks etc) i-do-understand the reasons behind why they have taken down the dx-10 options etc,

BUT TO MAKE THE GAME (ALMOST) LOOK LIKE THE ORIGINAL DOOM? Devs, r u freaking nuts!? Its such a huuuuge downgrade even i (a fan of the original game) couldnt play it anymore:(

Hope it gets fixed soon, i think its still beta or something,,,?

Dude, i understand your frustration, but you bet your angry,angry a$$ that it was prolly the store and not Bioware that is responsible for this.

Just get a refund or a different box/key.

Yeah,,, an update that is centered on a ''rohan theme'' with no horse riding is..........´kinda wierd. Lol Imo they should introduce horse fighting to the general game, where in most open areas (you can choose to fight mounted if you want to.........kinda like in everyquest II) ALTHOUGH, i think they are avoiding it coz they dont wanna come up with lotsa a newly required animations for the mounted combat function. One can hope though............. Like you, i had thought that if they were ever gonna release mounted combat, it would be now (

If it's your contention that F2P encourage this type of behavior then you are just plain wrong.  Marketers will always look for new ways to deliver goods for a price and will always attempt to get the most for their products.  F2P is just the latest iteration.

BUT its THEIR money, so why does it bother me? I dont think that every singe ''f2p'' currently on the market is ''p2p'' ALAS i beleive if it keeps on going the way it does now, it can get out of hand.

Haha, the little mmo gamer in me is scared that soon all mmo's will turn into f2p models, and soon all those fp2 games will actually become pay-to-win games, depriving me some of my favourite pastimes :D

(Yes, the devs/publishers have the right to release it, people have the right to buy it, and i have the right to post my opinions about it:p)

If you are going to compare two things (on a basis as inherently silly as sub numbers), if your approach is inconsistent, then so are your conclusions.

IF* you'r refering to the post that I made above, than you have totally missed the point that I was trying to make. Basically what I was aspiring to explain was that I am not really concerned about the number of subs that MMO's have in the Asian market, and neither do I think that I should be atm. (Some games here in the west might indeed have originated in the East, but im still not concerned by their eastern sub numbers, whereas the numbers they have ''here'' at least seem a little bit more relevant to ME(personal thoughts about the subject).

Im not Asian, and I dont live in Asia, and im not currently doing any business with Asia.

Yes, there are games here in ''west'' that DO originate in Asia, but so does the ''noodles'' and we aren't really that worried about it, either.

*IF a game is dead here in west, BUT still alive in Asia, IT WILL STILL BE dead to me........
