Thanks alot for all the replies I received in such a short notice.

Not thanking as a formality, but actually thank-you :)

Now, im thinking like I will be mostly fine with the graphics cards that are already inside my computer, and if anything, I ''MIGHT'' need a better CPU, perhaps..

BUT, here is the thing (just a little update);

My 690s are equipped with a MINI-displayport 1.2 (among other connection alternatives)

But the new screen is only capable of (REGULAR-SIZE) Displayport output.

Meaning that; they are incompatible, at least incompatible without any intervention from my side.

So, I thought about getting a Displayport to Mini Displayport cable (found one already in a local store),

but would that mean any reduced graphics quality and/or lag etcatera?

Thx again and sorry for peppering you with questions!

Thank you guys for the prompt reply :)

Here are my system specs:

Intel Core i7-3930K

2x ASUS GeForce GTX 690 4GB

Watercooled - No Issues with overheating etcatera

Asus ROG Xonar Phoebus (with Control Box etc)

Corsair Vengeance Low Profile 32GB DDR3

500gig SSD

3TB Hard Disk

Mobo?? Forgot about it, something MSI I guess.

Full/Maxi Tower Case

Windows 8 x64 OS

+

ASUS VG278H (The screen that was recently broken :( )

Logitech Z-906 Sound System

This thing was the king about 2 years ago, not so anymore... ofcourse.

BUT I digress, the machine, at 1920x1080 has been perfectly capable of running any game (including newer ones) at ultra/max graphics settings.

So, would this system be any good at running contemporary games at high/max settings USING THE NEW SCREEN that im thinking of buying (ASUS ROG Swift PG278Q) in its NATIVE RESOLUTION (2560x1440px) ?

PS!

Yeah, I know (and thus admit) that the term ''contemporary games''; can be a little vague, some games released this year could demand a crazy system, while others could be a lot more modest in their system requirements, But I hope you get what I mean :)

A little background information:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Very, very depressed.

Not only am I now wearing an Eye patch AGAIN,... (about 5 months after lasik-gone-bad)

But im also horrible at keeping my balance with one Eye closed, ESPECIALLY when im dancing around Cables (lots of em) behind my computer&tv desks.

Result: Lost my balance, tripped over  and knocked my precious computer screen down; ASUS VG278H

Resolution: Get a new gaming screen: ASUS ROG Swift PG278Q (this is what I set my heart at, love at first sight lol)

Bad news: Computer specs rather good, BUT IMO, I MIGHT STILL need a more powerful Graphics card to pump out the Graphics at the new-higher resolution of 2560 x 1440 / 144 Hz.

(Been unable to work last 4 months because of mild-to-severe Eye pain, rather broke, so this gonna hurt, but gaming, gf & friends is all that is keeping me from commiting suicide lol :D )

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So, anyways, back to topic;

For the resolution of 2560 x 1440,

Would you recommend: 2x GTX 690s (meaning a total of 4 GPU's - a.k.a Quad SLI) (OBS! THIS IS WHAT I ALREADY HAVE!)

OR

Would you rather recommend a: GTX TITAN Black (or one of its sc/oc variants)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Im thinking like, upgrading to a GTX Titan Black from 2x 690s DONT seem like its worth it at a glance, but than again, even though IM NO EXPERT, I recall reading several times (and observing sheets) that the 690s start scaling very badly (in comparasion to other/newer top-tier cards) once you go beyond the good old 1920x1080 resolution.

So, thats why im asking here.

I need to buy the new screen as soon as possible, so any answers given is reall appriciated :)

My love of steam:

1-Lack of need to MANUALLY patch my games to latest version (installed game (almost) Always comes with the latest version preinstalled)

2-(Almost) All my games in one library (or whatcha wanna call it)

3-I have speedy internet connection: Can quickly browse, choose and download/install among my couple'o hundreds of games without having to find the actual disks themselves. (+no risk of ''loosing'' my game discs)

4-A decent amount of information about the game is quickly available via the games store page and forums, to which I can access using my very same steam account: A.K.A dont need to create a new account for every new game forum (not unless I want to do that, too)

5-Internet Connection: EVEN IF my internet Connection is down, I can STILL activate my steam client in ''offline mode'' and play my (ALREADY) installed games.

5-Crazy Sales

WHAT I DON'T LIKE about Steam:

1-What if the service shuts down: Ok, they will prolly warn us Before they shut-down, so we can all download our games to our harddrives Before it happens......... but imo its risky business. Coz, what if the hard drive (on which I have installed all my games) gets damaged?.............Ok, thats why I should ALSO copy all my downloaded games (installers) to a back-up drive. Ok... Now how the heck am I gonna find such a couple' of drives to install about 300 games x 2 and who's gonna pay for it ? :D

2-I open the steam store page;

Oh, here migh be an interesting game........ooooops! Its still in early access.

But here is Another one; ooooops, its shovelwere.

Yeah! Finally found an interesting game... dangit, early access again

And, this one.. it ain't ''greenlighted'' yet.

This one's shovelwere again.

And this ones practically an Alpha...... Kickstarter, perhaps?

Love Steam otherwise, though :)

BUT YEAH, I kinda tend to agree with OP, I guess.

I mean, Ubisoft installer, Origin, Steam, Blizzard/battlenet installer thingy, Perfect World installer etc etc etc... Feels a Little like soon every dang game (or at least Company) will have its installer/client running as a background application on your computer, eating Resources.

Suuuure, u can try manually disabling/enabling every time u need / don't need em,, (or change it from the options for each one)but meh,,, feels like a Little too much trouble.

And I recon some clients dont run on your computer all the time, they only activate when u wish to run a game that they are related to. But still,

IMHO, a few such clients (about 2-4ish) dont bother me much at all, but too many of em, and (again, IMO) it kinda gets a Little frustrating.

Just my two cents about the subject.

I'm thinking of picking up Divinity: Original Sin but I'd like some opinions first.  I've read reviews that say the game is a ton of fun and others that say the game play can be tedious.  What do you guys think?  As a frame of reference, I grew up playing turn-based RPG's on the C64, so I'm no stranger to the format.

Thanks for any help!

look, if you are going to read reviews then actually look at "why" they are saying the game is tedious or "why" they are saying it's fun.

Just because someone uses an adjective doesn't mean that adjective applies to you.

So go back to the reviews and actually read them.

Otherwise I'm going to say "fun".

Take that as you wish but honestly, why would you listen to any of us as you don't know where any of us come from and what any of us like?

Ur right about the reviews, but otherwise - with all due respect - I think there is nothing wrong with him (/her?) asking questions  to fellow gamers.......... about a game.

Sure, what is ''tedious'' or not can be very subjective, indeed (general consensus about the subject not withstanding, if there is any at all), but IMO it wouln't hurt to know  what other players think of a game before a gamer makes his/her mind to purchase that particular game or not.

But.. heheheh,, you can be right in the end. Because; since what is ''fun or not'' can be very subjective, it can be misleading as well. What if we make a fellow player shell out $$ for a game that he ultimately wouldn't like (in lieu of our advice) or make him skip a game that he otherwise would enjoy throughly.

Oh man, this is getting too philosophical for me now... and im drunk so dang early in the morning, prolly not a good combo, but there is a first time for everything, eh?)

So, just one more thing before I bail out ; we don't have to make any decisions for the player asking for advice. (We prolly couldnt, anyways - even if we wanted to :P) We (ehm, those of us who own the game, at least) can just post our opinions about that particular game and let OP make the decision to buy the game or not based on the feedback that we give him (along with any and all data he deems to gather from other forms of information sources such as gaming site reviews etcatera).

CAPTAIN OBVIOUS AWAAAAY!!

I cant deny the fact that I really enjoyed playing WAR when it was released, both its PVE and PVP portions.

@ OP; as in.... internet spaceships?

Star Trek Online

Battlestar Galactica Online

Dark Orbit

Pirate Galaxy (sorta, atleast)

Taikodom (as others said, sadly seems dead and stuck in beta)

Vendetta Online

Ace Online (uh,ok, this one's really far fetched)

Andromeda 5 (haven't tried it yet. But looks kinda ''cheap)

This is all I can think of, right now.

For $$ sake!

The OP is 109 years old, give him a break, lol

...........:D

Blizzard had also immortalized another person. A red-clad dwarf, in memory of a WOW gamer who had such a character in-game.

Come cataclysm, I couldnt find that NPC (in memory of that fallen player) anywhere anymore.

So, I wouldnt trust Blizzards Word too much about Robin WIlliams, either :D

PS!

Also, a fan of Williams here. Sad to see he is gone, especially if he commited suicide coz of depression etc. :(

Oh, and ONE more thing. I am no WOW expert, and havent looked everwhere in the World for that '' dwarf character of the fallen player''. So maybe he is still around and I havent seen him, yet..

I keep Reading about it here and there (both from devs and players),

but at the same time, I dont see any posts as such indicated that it has been officially released yet.

Than is it in early access or something?

If that is the case, when is it going to be (officially) released?

As usual, thx in advance for any&all possible answers :)

I am typing this post on my mobile phone.

I have preordered Wildstar Delux edition and got a key from my local game-store for the game. The salesperson told me that she wasn't sure, but the key that I was provided with there ought to be a preorder/beta acess key or someting like that. And that i should register that key for early-access and extra in-game stuff.

The question is, how?

I ALREADY have a (very old) NCsoft account, (That I can STILL USE to play L2 and Guildwars etc) so, should I try to register it there first?

I am afraid of registering myself on the wrong region or account...

What should I do?

Thanks for any/all possible answers:)

IMO, the space-combat sections of this game is too fast-paced for a Star Trek game, where the ship battles are actually supposed to be a ''stately affair'' according to the old starfleet command user's manual.

Thus, I'd rather wish that the developers would slow down the pace of ''ship-to-ship battles'' in the game, and add deeper and more tactical options instead to choose from.

I mean, have you guys seen how fast the player ship auto-repairs itself (and revives its entire crew in this game) ? This is what you get for having such a fast-paced combat in a Star Trek MMO, IMO.

Hey guys! I'm making a new MMO! It's gonna be the best MMO ever made! It's gonna have all the stuff everyone wants and it's not gonna have anything anyone doesn't want. All you guys will be able to come home now.

Here's a pic about the concept.

(New MMO Concept)

But srsly........WTF

Smed posts what is, for all intents and purposes, a random Internet pic and says, "Spiritual Successor to SWG" and the MMO World goes BAT S**T.

To answer the OP's question, I'm thinking this is one big troll.

HEHEHEHEH ROFL :D

Omigosh! SWG is back you guys, its back!!! Opens wallet and starts throwing money at SOE..........lol

Thx for the answer.

PS! Haha, dammit, it was such a long time ago that I played LOTRO, but looking at this thread, I can already tell that this game has a pretty decent community to hang out with! :D

Im thinking of starting a new character too. The expansion's supposed to be released today, but its not released yet as of this hour, right?

Heheheheh! Ur right on the Money!

Thank you for all your replies :)

Thanks to your suggestions, some hard work, and some luck, most of my problems are solved now.

PS!

Lol, im trying to run the defrag command, but it immediately shuts itself down...

I recently had some trouble with my computer, so I spent a whole week in front of it, trying to get it in working condition again. The problems were SEEMINGLY unrelated and random, but it was like you had to fight with almost every single program that you install on your computer to get em working again.

Anyways, after a whole week's of battle , it seems that I have finally won (hopefully) but during that week I had to do a FRESH REINSTALL of windows at least 4 TIMES.

And after  each single process of FORMATTING-REINSTALLING (never reinstalled  a fresh windows without completly formatting all the disk drives first)

......now it seems that my disks are working slower.

Despite it being a fresh and fully updated version of windows (yeah, really, windows update and all the updates for my computer Components such as Gfx, soundcard, DirectX ETC are there)

windows starts kinda slower than ever (althogh still not that bad, just slower than usualy, ''not actually slow'' BUT THE GAMES ALSO SEEM TO BE TAKING LONGER THAN USUAL TO LOAD, and this once is actually noticable with most any games I tried now.

PLUS, some programs take longer to initialize than what they used to, despite it being a fresh and updated install of windows.

SO I thought of defragmenting my disks to make it faster, even if doesnt help, it cant hurt, right?

But OOOOPS! My system is installed on the C: drive, which unsurprisingly also happens to be an SSD drive,

and after GOOGLing it, it appears that defragmenting that SSD drive is not only NOT RECOMMENDED, but also even can be dangerous to my SSD.

So, I ask you guys, should I defragment my SSD? IF NOT, what other alternatives are there to defragmenting an SSD (WITHOUT this leading me to reinstalling windows one more time) ?

Thank you for any possible kind of advice,

Cheers!

PS! Here are my system specs:

Windows 8

I7 3930

x2 Geforce GTX 690 (4 old 680 cards in total)

Asus Xonar Phoebus Soundcard

32GB Ram

500Gig SSD

3 TB Harddisk
