I had a level Warrior in Everquest and you know what I remember most? Pressing ‘1′ to initiate auto attack then alternating the pressing ‘2′ to Taunt and ‘3′ to Kick. Exciiiiiiting. Who thought it would be fun to create a class that has access to absolutely zero abilities whilist everyone else runs around shooting lighting bolts or fly kicking mobs in the face. I had a freaking /sit macro - a /sit macro - on my hotkey panel just to use up space. /palmface
 

Druid (Everquest)
You know what absolutely drove me mad? Spending hours getting a full six man group together, holy trinity of classes included, to camp one of the spires surrounding the entrance to Splitpaw in South Karana only to find that a single Druid was already camping the whole damn place. Kiting everything that moves to earn himself a ton of exp and plat. Bastards

Never argued with SOE doing it to make money, either, but don't pretend it has no benefit for players and the only reason SOE did it was to make money.  It's disingenuous, because clearly the system does have benefits, which I outlined.  I also outlined that Live Gamer offers nothing more than what was already available before its existence.

To get past that spot in PoN I remember having to invis (it decreases aggro range) and jumping at a point you can make it to the other side? I haven't played in years but kind of remember the spot you are talking about.

I don't know about EQ2 impacting player population. I quit for World of Warcraft, see SOE messed up EQ1 beyond fixing. Warrior was the crappiest class, and SOE kept screwing them. Heck from the beginning Warriors were screwed. World of Warcraft had Warrior right, they didn't have the hate for the class SOE and even Verant did. 

Don't believe me? Look at the "Bring back Classic" post on Steelwarrior (the website in the day for warriors, they lick spittled SOE boots to much and didn't support the horde of casuals enough and paid for it), the poster was told to get lost, Warriors were a dirt class in classic, and you will get no support from Warriors to return to those crappy days. I was embittered to the point I was drooling for WoW to kick some EQ1 butt, and boy did they! Guilds of Elitist jerks had to fold and they even had to server combine, LOL.  

BTW, warrior was and probably is played by more players as their main, don't screw them or you will not succeed. Having three tank classes with one completely unable to solo, one overpowered solo (SK), and one with virtually unlimited aggro (Paladin), and you can't solo or get groups, and the largest group of players will hate you and move games, exactly what happened. Heck Warriors even had a stand-down of some sorts they were so pissed.

Nope, SOE shut the servers down when World of Warcraft also known as Everquest Improved launched.

No, and most people don't box in WoW, multiple family members play in households now. EQ1 was ONLY remotely successful due to it being the ONLY game to play. Now WoW is the only game to play, that is if you want to see other players. EQ1 had a zillion faults, I played it. Screwing up the Warrior class as badly as EQ1 did was the #1 mistake. Every single warrior I know which is hundreds, quit for WoW due to the screwing we got in EQ1. I am sick of SOE games wqith their anti-melee bias.

I  TOLD THE TRUTH ABOUT HOW BROKEN WARRIORS WERE AND THEY DARED SANCTION ME?! THE DEVS ARE USELESS AND SHOULD HAVE HIRED OUTSIDE HELP IF THEY CAN'T FIX MELEE, LOOK AT THE  WARRIOR STAND-DOWN! ONLY EQ1 HAD A REVOLT LIKE THAT!

Dual spec was just brilliant, it made my Warrior even more fun to play. After being bent over and screwed repeatidly by SOE, Blizzard makes the most played class even more fun! Kudos Blizzard!

Necroing this old thread just shows how bad this game is, was, and always will be. SOE is just milking the $1.95 a month it can out of this turd. This whole idea of returning to an EQ1 is early days type playing made me LOL. This is the result, we hated EQ1 gaiming and melee especially sucked and I wasn't putting up with another Casterquest farce.

There will be a fifth time, I see it in your future. BTW, Kung Fu sucks as a fighting art (though there are many other benefits), take Muay Thai, Judo, or Brazilian Ju Jitsu, Judo is pretty inexpensive in most places.

Hope you enjoy your game with no players! Thats all you will have and WoW clone after WoW clone will be launched, expect EQ1 to be cancelled soon as it starts losing SOE money which isn't far off.

With the 51/50 server winning I think your argument is a joke, EQ1 players want quick advancement beyond even WoW.

"Kicks the shit out of any other game", WHAT A LAUGH! They were FORCED to add mercs for lack of players, by what confused notion does EQ do anything but suck wind? The game is horribly boring and should just be left to die with the rest of SOEs products. They don't even have enough players to be anything but a joke, WoW is huge and EQ stinks and has from the beginning.

On top of that Sebbon made 63rd not 47th with his CLERIC and 10 AA's on Stromm I believe...in 6 days played so obviously not an easy class to play and 6 days means there is a serious flaw in EQ game play as it took me longer in WoW to level my warrior that that.

Of course, we always knew that. It is the MMORPG HATERS that can't handle SOE getting their asses handed to them by a grossly superior game that post drivil here about what age the players of WoW are. The players I have met in all but two cases were MUCH nicer than the idiots I met in EQ were. I seldom met anyone helpful or remotely nice in EQ. Most were swindlers and liars, and would whine like mad unless they got their precious way. The raiders in EQ were the worst scum with spawns arriving every seven days and no instancing: SOE encouraged and did everything they could to encourage hateful behavior.
