I cant see paying a sub for a game that is one dimensional. Too many good shooters out there today that do the same thing. Even with vehicles.
However, if Fallen Earth were to grab up the combat aspect including vehicle controls of APB (from the youtube stuff I seen) then I would pay $25 a month for a sub fee.
Fallen Earth has a crap load of stuff to do in game. The graphics are good as well. The only thing that keeps me away is the character model animation and the combat. The concept is there , but the execution is like a 6 year old designed it and everyone left it alone cause it would make him cry.
APB, from what I have read and watched, just doesnt have the substance. A lot of folks are comparing it Crimecraft. Crimecraft was AWESOME with the combat. Other than a couple of problems with balance issues, it is by far the best FPS maps and combat I have played to date. And the no jumping was a boon. Graphics, control responsiveness, hit boxes (meaning where you were is where you are and not 2 feet behind...not lag but the player location looks to be in one place, but the game map sees you in another ) everything was spot frickin on. Its problem? Crap to do outside combat. Why pay every month for that?
Unfortunately, I see APB going that route. I hope it doesnt. |

Beta is down for a couple of weeks.
Pre-order the game is your best bet at this point. |

True reason why this will flop
General Discussion « All Points Bulletin (APB) 6/04/10 7:27:54 PM
Aimbots killing the game? Of course... If RTW can block them.. cool. But, how can I know this as a potential buyer if they have rampant cheating going on right now? Cant they have members of their own staff as an additional duty use aimbots and block them that way? How can beta testers test something if they are being dropped by hackers? Seems defeating to me.
I think what the game will have the most problems with is content. Why would I pay $15 a month for a game that lets me do 4 on 4 or 5 on 5 combat when I can do 16 vs 16 for a flat fee? Customization? I can do that with mod packs. Community? Most games have em, and even tighter with server teams helping to get rid of the cheaters and reporting them.
Honesly, what is RTW bringing to the table that will cause me to part with my money every month? A handful of weapon? Cars? CoX has content and community... is it a FPS nope... but Battlefield is free and a huge pool of players for that fix.
I am not dissing RTW and their work they put into this... but what makes them so damn special? I am afraid I cannot see it after all I read and seen. |

EverQuest II: Why EQII? Character and Quests
News Discussion « General Discussion 5/17/10 5:07:35 PM
I dont think he is referring to a class being removed... I think he is reffering to the changing of the classes and skill/spells so much that it is a redesign of the class itself making it no fun to play at all. |

Release date and payment model confirmed
General Discussion « All Points Bulletin (APB) 5/01/10 1:07:47 PM
I read a comment saying "We are still talking about the priceing?" Only thing I will say on that is ,,, ,Duh (points to thread title)
Whether this is a MMO or not, is not the point. Age of Conan could be argued it is not a MMO with only allowing X number of people in an instance. Since the game revolves around instanced gameplay. The problem I have with the pricing model is they are half assing the hourly rate. They are making it to where they make a lot more money for those who think they will only have 20 hours to play and end up spending $14 or $21 in the first month just on play time of 60 hours. They may or may not go monthly sub for whatever reason, cause of the commitment issues people tend to have. And that is FINE. The problem is the prices of those hourly rates sucks. It just shows they are trying to grab every nickel we have, and then dime us on other things (waiting for more in the future, but it may happen).
Also, the $50 you are paying for the game does NOT translate into 50 game hours.... as I stated before in a post on the second page. Every MMO gives you the first month Sub for free. In this case it is a $10 value. But it is only 50 hours. This translates to roughly $1 = 5 game hours. So if you are paying $7 a month, that should equate to 35 hours or something very close. But it does NOT. This is a brazen statement to me. I may have to counter my preorder cause of this. Having a good game is one thing. Having a game that tries to suck not only your free time ( a willing sacrifice) but your money as well? I dont like it.
When Katrina happend, or when soldiers (not just US) responded to the Sept 11 attacks, there were several games that stated they will offer discounts/ free playtime/ free rent to those persons affected. That means a lot. Even though some of it is just in game currency, not a huge deal, but it shows they are looking out for their playerbase. I dont feel that with Realtime... unfortunately. Or it could be because of EA. I don't know. |

Correction,,, I misunderstood the payment model. 20 hours, which I will assume will bleed over payment cycles, so you pay as you go. Then it goes into how much one game hour is worth... Well, if they are giving you 50 hours for free with the purchase of the game, and it is industry standard to give the first month for free then start the sub process, 1 dollar is equal to 5 game hours. So you pay $10 a month for 50 game hours + That being said, they are charging $7 a month. That should be $35 game hours of playtime. Not 20. I just feel like they are AT&T or Telecom or whatever the phone service in Japan is... trying to nickel and dime the customer. |

Originally posted by Shastra They said $9.99 so, 10 bucks, but that is just semantics. Casual or no.. make it mean a difference, knock off half the price of a sub or make it FTP. Otherwise it honestly makes no sense to drop a dollar or three off the price to play for 20 hours a month.
Again that is my opinion. |

I feel the pay model is BS. You are going to give me 20 hours for $3 off a month? No thanks. If they are going to do that AND have microtransactions (and they will have it) is either Free to Play or pay half the cost of the sub which would be $5 a month and be given the 20 hours to play. I mean... come on, 2 or 3 bucks difference between 20 hours and unlimited?
Sounds like they are feeling the market out before trying to find their payday mean. I don't blame them, but let's not forget the gamers. |

Final Fantasy XIV: FFXI to FFXIV – Jurassic Park to The Lost World
News Discussion « General Discussion 4/16/10 12:51:49 PM
I honestly wished I played FFXI. I gave it two solid tries.. but the controls and UI did me in. Yes it was made for a PS2, but come on... how hard is it to do a solid port to PC?
If FFIV has similiar content, updated graphics and the UI and controls fixed... I will give it a try. Otherwise... sorry. |

General: Lord of Ultima: Not Quite the Heir Apparent
News Discussion « General Discussion 4/05/10 9:28:59 AM
It is a time sink. As I said. It's just one of those things to do when you have some down time. Running just one city is pretty easy once you get developed. When you get to running 3 or 4 cities (havent gotten that far yet on this game, but other games) and you start managing them, you get to spending a crapload of time managing them. |

General: Lord of Ultima: Not Quite the Heir Apparent
News Discussion « General Discussion 4/05/10 7:41:51 AM
The game isn't that bad. It is what it is. A time sink. The browser based quality really isn't that bad. Calling it ultima is just something that others can be familiar with. I have played a few of these types of games and this one is the better of them I think... granted I haven't done PvP yet, but I will.
They could have done this with any IP out there... EQ, Warhammer, DAOC, heck, they could even do it with Mafia Wars LOL.
Oh and the link to the interview is STILL busted. |

Boycott it! It's a commie game!
LOL.
Sorry.
This company owns IGG http://investing.businessweek.com/research/stocks/private/snapshot.asp?privcapId=39795216 Sky Union. I was going to say Korean FTP... But after seeing IGG website, I wasn't far from the mark. Does this mean we can play with the gold farmers and RMT in a happy and cozy environment? |

LMAO! You tell me of a game that is in 3D with a "cutting edge" engine, being built for less than a year if it has a shot at being anything but mediocre?
This has to be a prank,,, or a feeler as to whether or not gamers will be receptive to this concept.
If anything, White Wolf universe is far far more the better choice in making a vampire/werewolf/supernatural MMO.
Let's see how this FTP pos goes. |

Well, that was it right there. The only real problem I had was the apearance. Looks like I am in business :D
Thank you. |

I have all the guild wars dudads (aka expansions). I would prefer to use a Prophecy ranger ( due to the appearance) but play on Nightfall. It was my understanding that doing so required to be ran to lions arch or something, then porting over. Unfortunately, you needed to be a certain level. Did they make an easier way of doing this yet? moving between chapters? Or am I forced to play the game the way it was 2 years ago? |

Acceptable amount of classes in an mmorpg
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 11/07/09 8:06:02 AM
It's not the number of classes that are important.
It's the amount of diversity you have. Champions doesn't have classes, they have powersets. The more you got, the more diverse builds you have, and thus a more personalized experience you have.
That right there is a key ingredient to success for a game. I have been playing Dragon Age... while single player, and a couple of classes, it is very diverse. |

Fallen Earth: Post-Apocalypse? There's an App for That

Is Fallen Earth already Busted and should it still be in beta?
Fallen Earth « Fallen Earth 10/29/09 6:34:27 PM
Thanks. I like my name too heh.
But, the fact remains, RMT is illegal in ALL mmos. And I am certain it is somewhere in the EULA, cause that damned CoC is pretty detailed.
