Some that I even played? Like EQ and SWG? Would that be the end of the world for you? You know, I can see that people don't like a game. But this stupid mindless bashing is really inapropriate. Actually most people I play with in WoW have probably played other MMOs before. So what's with the hate? Can't you just accept the fact, that WoW is a good game for 10 million people? Or are you just envious? |

Ok, I'm downloading the client right now. I am mainly a PvE player, though I don't mind a little bit of PvP once in a while. I also like to roleplay. Is Shadowbane a game for me, or is it just an all out gankfest? What servertype would you recommend? Is there any guild you could recommend? I thought about playing either an Aelfborn, Shade or maybe a Nephilim. But I'm open for anything. Thanks for your suggestions. |

If you want to be manly, why don't you join the Marines and fight the good war in Irak or Afghanistan or where ever else Dubya is going to start another war...But be warned, there is no "respawn" in the real world... Seriously, you kids really always make me wanting to come back to this forum. There's so much fun to be had here... :) |

You hopefully also realize, that without the PvE crowd joining you in playing Darkfall, you probably have nobody to play (and gank) with? Furthermore, do you guys even realize that your attitude towards PvE oriented people, really doesn't show you guys coming off as being mature? More like the 14 year olds you probably are. (My apologies if this is not the case nor the intention). Trust me, I'd love to try DF, but I'm certainly a PvE oriented person (with occassional PvP sprinkled in here and there). That doesn't make me any "better" or "less" than you guys. It's just what I prefer. The attitude of some people here makes me want to think twice about playing this game. |

But yeah, lets forget that fruitless discussion. The point is that WAR needs to come out first, and then we can argue if it's worth porting to the Mac. :)) Hope it comes out soon, but then I rather give them the time to polish it. I'm almost to the point of drooling, I'd love to play one of those Darkelf Sorcerers/Sorceresses. |

Originally posted by Liquidvison See, that's my point here. Most people don't have a clue about the Mac, but still give their "opinion" about Macs (Mac sux! Waaah!) Maybe they should try to use one before they start bashing it...just a suggestion. BTW, I've been using Macs since 1992, and almost never had to bother about a good game not coming to my platform of choice. And yeah, I totally agree, Liquidvision. I would love to play WAR on a Mac. You probably will own me, since I really suck at PvP. ;) |

Originally posted by Liquidvison Actually, we now have EVE on the Mac (sadly with out the Trinity high resolution graphics package, can't see why), thanks to Transgaming's technology that allows Windows games to be run under a wrapper that routes system calls to the Mac OS. Not the most perfect solution, but it works. There is a folder called "c_drive" in the EVE package. And when you look inside it, you can see a "Program Files" folder with EVE in it and other assorted stuff. So, obviously there is an easy way of getting games on the Mac, maybe the WAR guys will see the light eventually as well. Who knows? |

Hm, funny that you say that. Why would a Mac NOT be made for online gaming? It has everything a Windows PC has (being that they now use almost the identical hardware), so why shouldn't it run all the games that a PC can? And it actually can run those games, if you use Bootcamp. But I think that's not the point the OP was trying to make. We buy Macs for the OS, not (only) for their nice looks. And of course we would like the games to run under OS X as well. Because it is (IMHO) superior to Windows. But let's not argue about this. There's no point. Game companies by large still don't understand just how many Mac users are out there. Except for Blizzard, that is. Why are they the only one? One reason might be that they hate Macs, but "hate" is a word that usually is not in the vocabulary of managers (except for Valve maybe). If it makes money than they will develop for it. I think it's the same problem that game developers still don't see the a) adult market (people like me, which are at least 30 years old) and the b) women market. Most games are decidedly written for the male, adolescent market, leaving out literally millions of potential players (quite a few of them Mac owners.) This needs to change. Will it ever? I don't know. |

Oh yes, you're so right, that's why there's only millions and millions of them out there. Nobody uses them, and Apple is not one of the richest computer manufacturers out there...right... I just think it's so funny when people absolutely have no clue, and have the nerve to say it out loud. ;) |

I think I said it before, but I'll say it again. If everything the OP said will be in the final game, I certainly would give it a try. I don't know how long I could stand it (hell, maybe I love it), but I would try. That said, I highly doubt it will ever come out. Cya in WAR or AoC...or whatever... :D |

Good points Kaiphas, although we're probably talking about 8 million players, not 800... ;c) WoW is such a success, because it is polished and easy to get into. That's why a lot of people (me included) play it, despite its shortcomings (grinding). I never understood the WoW bashing. But people tend to stand out, that's why it's in to bash WoW, because it is popular with the "unwashed" masses. Me, I'm probably old enough that I no longer care what the "1337" folks say, I play what I like. ;c) But I would love to give Darkfall a try, if it ever comes out, that is... |

Hm, reading your last paragraph I would like to say something to you. I don't want to come off as rude, but maybe if you're reaching 30, you will realize that not everybody has the 1337 Sk1lZ like a 13 year old. We do get older, slower, and we still want to enjoy games. That's why the click and fight variety of games (like WoW and many other games) is very popular. This just for your information. Still I would say that the problem with twitch based combat games is not so much a problem that people don't want to play them, it is a very real technical issue. Lag has always been a problem in network based games, especially back in the 90s, when there were only 56K Modems. The problem is still here. How can you make a game world inhabited by 1000s of players that can literally fight each other at the same time and not expect to experience massive amount of lag? This is a problem even with the regular point and click games, how bad is it in a twitch based game? I think that the time is not right for games like this (i.e. Darkfall) When internet technology gets better and faster, we might see more twitch based combat games appear, but that will not happen for a few years to come. And then of course, these games will only appeal to a niche market of players, that love games just for being hard and punishing. Me, I love demanding games, but I don't want to be punished and robbed clean AND laughed upon by my "peers". I can have that in real life. No, thank you. I rather have fun. :D |

Hm...I don't see why this would make a difference. The screenshots DO look dated. Very dated. Nonetheless, I would still play this game, if they can pull of everything they are trying to achieve and the gank squads are not too obnoxious. |
