Mythic, why didnt they just make DAOC 2
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 4/11/09 8:50:40 PM
Too bad they cancelled the development of their Sci-Fi MMO in order to concentrate on WAR. Playing in an uchrony where the Roman Empire runs the universe would have been really fun. We had very few informations on the game mechanics, but I always hoped it would have been DAoC 2 in space. |

I like all those different clothes; just hope there also will be a lot of customization with dyes, separate armor parts, etc. And most of all: face/body customization. (Right now, nothing beats CoH/CoV, but it isn't about armors...). |

I know of course it's still beta and those things can happen. But "ouch" I re-rolled an alt to see if I'd like to play a mage. Already having a Sacred Flower Cloud Mistress (hybrid), and liking Black Clans I made a Brotherhood of Thieves toon and upped her up to OC5.
Leveling can be fast in the first levels when you know what to do. I of course had a pause after reaching OC1, bought books and upped a couple passive skills while AFK. I could not be aware of a possible rollback cause i did not disconnect in between. This morning I checked and was... LS10. :-( "Lost" 19 levels! That kinda hurts, hehe. |

Hey, I Had an Idea Too! (check it out, it doesn't suck like your idea)
MMORPG Game Concepts « Developers Corner 12/21/05 8:57:21 PM
I guess this is supposed to be a joke. Errr, no? Well, why would people play in a virtual world that seems so close to a well-known gray reality? When I play MMORPGS my first expectation is about something special that is also the core principle of Sci-Fi or Fantasy worlds and novels: The Sense of Wonder. Where is the "Sense of Wonder"? |

do u play in 1st person or 3rd person
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 12/21/05 8:34:26 PM
Same for me: 3rd person view. And I agree with n2sooner, Eq1 1st person view was well made, I used it once in a while under certain circumstances. I usually can't stand 1st person views. That's why I dropped Necocron two days after starting... |

From what I know about the new system and the revamp, I will say: No! By the way, what will happen to the Creature handler class? |

I am interested in playing Coh, need info pleeease
Paragon City Hall (General) « City of Heroes 12/21/05 8:18:32 PM
I read a very interesting article a few weeks ago about CoH. While many other mmorpgs focus on high end content where you need to grind fast if you want to enjoy it and start the "real" game, CoH on the contrary is all about the way to the final ding. The journey is more important than the destination. And yes, what's left when you reach lvl 50? Maybe some missions you still have, just for the pleasure of defeating all the Archvillains (like the Praetorian series). Then what? Well, like many others, including myself, reroll and start/test another archtype or another powers combination. You might consider it as a very fast paced action game, a kind of massive multiplayer beat'em all. This is also what I enjoy with CoH: you can connect to the game after a hard day of work and have fun almost instantly for just an hour or two if you want. Easy to get a team, no farming cause no items, nor loot. Just pure action and fun. Of course, you can fine tune your Hero as you begin to know the game better. With some practice and some reading on the forums you'll find many ways to choose your powers and template. No 2 heroes can be the same even within a same archtype. Not to say the "look" cause CoH has maybe the best character customization ever, with a <insert astronomical number here>-illion combinations possible! |

Poll: Do you plan to play DDO from what you know about it?
The Rusty Nail (General) « D&D Online 12/18/05 11:33:03 AM
As far as I know about D&DO I'm still skeptic. I really never liked the rules and mechanisms of AD&D during my 10 years of table RPGs. As a GM I looked around for more flexible systems and we tried many with my friends. Chaosium system, Dragonquest, MERP, Rolemaster and finally GURPS were the best we tried and played. Without AD&D, I think the history of RPGs would be very different. On another hand I guess many devs are way too much influenced by the concepts underlying the mechanisms (levels, xp, stereotyped classes, etc) and it had a huge impact on MMORPGs. There are many paths to explore still. |

Is your first MMORPG your favorite?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 12/18/05 11:21:53 AM
My first game was DAoC and I just came back to it a month ago, due to a friend telling me about Catacombs and the changes to come with Darkness Rising. So yes it's my favorite. By the way, CoH is also my favorite, been playing it since release. On another hand I tried a dozen ones. Anarchy Online, on another hand, is a game I still come back to from time to time. |

Is this game a copy of Everquest or an original game?

Yes! And the devs also stated they want their game to start the new generation of MMORPGs, learning from the experiences of WoW and Eq2... |

It's not just only a difference about buying/earning the items you need or want. It's also a solution to the "problem" of buying gold or items through unofficial sites. And also a solution for the problem leading to that: the fact that some people DO NOT have enough time per week in order to get through this endless-hours-high-level-raids and enjoy the game in par with others. And if this paying system works, why not? By the way, if you like challenge well... earn the rewards instead of buying them. No one forces you. |

Why SilkRoad Online is a game to Pass on
Open Beta Discussion « General Discussion 12/18/05 2:57:10 AM
I agree with most of Tiabs's analysis and I think I'll go and test SRO. Kill stealing should not be the sole reason in order to evaluate the interest of a game. By the way, it's just how the game is coded. Maybe they will change that. And if not, well... "technically" stealing does not exist as long as you consider you do not "own" the mob. You can even use role-playing to justify your action: "Why do you whine? I just helped you with this bad creature who could have hurted you!" The fact is KS is a concept that appeared on other games not only because it's how the experience reward is coded but also because of players rules of conduct that emerged and became "customs"... |
