Mark on Comparing City Sieges vs. WoW or DAoC
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 4/01/08 3:35:14 PM
Best end game rvr(pvp) i ve seen by a long shot. This game is appealing to a huge crowd and thats what they want. It will be the next big MMO imo :) |

Poll: Are you going to play AoC in May?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 4/01/08 2:47:33 PM
Hard to say if WAR sticks to it. I ll be honest with the recent reviews i ve read on it and still alot of time to go i say yes, but if it takes longer i m not too worried i want it to be as close to perfect as possible. All reviewers i ve seen so far say it s playable now, in great shape etc. So if they re adding 4-6 more months i ll say it will be good and thats all that matters to me. Delays suck yes but if the product is better because of it i can wait more. |

I tend to try any mmo coming out. I was going to play WAR for sure and thought since it got delayed why not pick up AOC. I now have decided i m sick of jumping games and will wait a long time after release to judge for myself. I don t like alot of things they re doing for me personally, so i have to wait a while to see. Trial etc would help. I can t see me picking it up at all tbh because when WAR comes out i ll be playing it instead, hands down no questions asked. I don t want to spend 4-8 months into something just to drop it which i will for WAR even if i like it. Make a long story short no not anywhere near release or ever. |

Warhammer Online : Age of Reckoning: How You Look - Trophy System and More

Perfect. I like being different from everyone else if possible and this does this. Not having stats on it is great no need to have everyone picking the same things as the article read. Love it! |

As far as FPS Avery no ne can say i m sure :) I agre with that , but.... I m sure you have to agree AOC will have more problems due to lag in big fights then WAR. This is what you get when you want awesome graphics :) |

Am i wrong here i thought a guilds keep is attacked when a guild says it can be? in a certain time frame. Or do you as questing actually get a message saying keep is declared war on get here now? If so then i take it back but my understanding is it s nothing like that at all. What i mean is out questing or whatever i m told enemies on keep no one saying hey we re attacking you come fight us. Element of suprise is what i m saying i don t think this happens in AOC it s well known when you re getting attacked. Please tell me if i m wrong :) |
|
|
Yes but it s still a predetermined time, which to me = no suprise, bad implementation imo but to each their own. To say you re not fighting for something worthwhile in WAR is a little odd to me but no need to go into it. AOC is too limited for my style and time i can put into a game. |

Yes especially in the early days of DAOC it was awesome the whole server competed in rvr i remember at least 100 hibs, 150 mids, and probably around 200 albs all fighting over a relic taken by the hibs from the albs. Us mids decided to mess them over and take it from them . Was a HUGE fight at a mile gate and everyone on the server knew about it through alliance chats of each realm could participate. Not just one guild fighting another. To me this is far more epic feeling, spontaneous, full of suprise, on the edge of your seat "oh crap our city is under attack lets get there now and defend" feel. Like i said don t get me wrong i know why AOC is doing the seige thing their way but the feeling of realm pride and overall rush of fun from the huge fights is gone for me when it s a guild , deciding when another guild can attack. To each their own. |

As stated it really comes down to your play style i m not going to type it all out but instant action = WAR Relying on guilds in some facet wether it be in one or wait for mercenary = AOC up to you want to log in and get at it now or wait and plan up to you they both have their ups and downs but as i said WAR s playstyle is much more my style and with lives being alot more intense nowadays i would say alot are this way as well. |

Originally posted by thebigghost Hmm ya this has nothing to do with the question really. I could say the same for mythic as i had great experiences with them but as stated above the GM s won t be there during a siege and if they are well i wouldn t want to open that can of worms. |

Yep fair enough but to look at the pther point theres only 6 Main cities to fight over and once inside some great rewards are inside. So it s definately somethig to fight for :) As well leading up to the fight over cities theres alot of pvp/pve that contributes to get you there. Basically it s a never ending fight and tides will turn back and forth till one side opes up the city siege stage. I respect your thoughts and have nothing wrong with AOC i just like the constant battles all over in every aspect to contribute for your side. Damnit just talking about it is making the wait even harder. Damn my typing is bad these days. |

I hope i didn t offend anyone like i said they both have good ideas. I was just stating for me that reason alone makes me pick WAR :) |
|
|
Hehe don t get me started :) think both have decent ideas but for me i prefer Wars better. I ve stated before only 1 thing makes me prefer Wars and that is suprise factor. I m not fond of a guild pre determining a time when an enemy can attack. I know why they re doing it but takes away from the immersion etc for me. Besides War is designed by the masters of rvr so it will be good, i can almost guarentee that. |

2 reasons why I think RvR will fail.

That to me is a huge population imbalance. When you need a guild to have fun first and second have a couple guilds owning the server in all aspects make a huge imbalance the faction war. Tides turn in faction wars all the time , but with guilds owning servers most people or what i remember from Shadowbane etc leave the server or game completely out of frusteration. |
