Also i can t remember the number but there are alot of armour sets for each class, throughout their levels. The nice thing about the armour dye is it s layered, so if you played DAOC you ll know what thats like:)

There are many, mnay ways to customize your chars.

Q: Customization is pretty important to me. I hate looking like everyone else in game. What sort of options will there be for character customization?
A:
Warhammer Online is going to have armor dyes as a customization option. In an ealier podcast, Jeff Hickman mentioned that these would probably be relegated to colors normally attributed to armor. Also, in recent interviews it has been stated that you'll be able to get trophies to hang from your armor. In a recent entry in Paul Barrnett's blog, he mentions that there will be a sizeable amount of facial customization as well.

This is the thing, it s popular on initial sales. The whining and bitching as you say are from alot of people unhappy with their purchase, here and on other forums. So i would say it s safe to say it s popularity isn t as high as some think.

Problem is they will claim that most people dont play/own the game and those who do suck at the game or (my personal favorite) have computers that are outdated and can only run WoW.

Ah yes this is true.

Considering how popular the game is; its surprising there's so much hate and whining on these forums..

But the facts speak for themselves - the game is doing well. So the whiners can have fun bitching and complaining until Warhammer comes out; at which point they can start the whole process again.

Okay Gestalt,

Let me ask you a question:

What did Funcom promise that was in the game that isn't that so DIRECTLY effects your enjoyment?

I am tired of generalities, I would like specifics.

Don't talk about performance because that is up to the individual user. I run the game on HIGH with 30-50 fps regularly and you can look above to see my system.

Don't talk about sieges because unless your guild has a Tier 3 city and you are level 80; otherwise you are just playing the waiting game.

As I mentioned before, the only promise that I think could be considered "dishonest" was DX10 but even then, I would hope someone would be playing for more than graphics.

Sorry and I do not mean to be an ass about it, but I am sitting here looking at an advertisement in a magazine and I see nothing that was promised about the game that I have not experienced and I am level 40.

I will admit the game isn't perfect and has issues (no more than other MMOs I have played at launch), but I seriously think that to think Funcom is worse than some other companies or to put them in a special category where you give them the doubt before the benefit is a bit too much. You want to see dishonesty? I recommend looking in to what insurance companies do to their members.

At this time T3 cities are not able to be built, so any guild able to build them couldnt.

And if they are that far along and have that many resources harvested and saved up that much gold, then good luck to them. I am in one of the largest guilds, with a lot of members, and we just built our Tier 2 keep....and thats with 100s of members donating.

I wonder if this is Amazing Avery's other account?

I frankly don't give two sh*ts what the disgruntled whining half the community has to say, but Funcom, does care. They are listening to us, you whine when you don't feel justice is done by this game, and well, looks like you whine when they do offer what you were whining about to begin with. It's all very amusing. I for one say Kudos, to Funcom, for realizing what we want and going above and beyond in scope of those offerings so desired. If you don't like it, well who gives a sh*t really?

It seems you do :)

Also a game can be really good in beta, but once it goes live a ton of unexpected crap can happen and cause people to flip out.

Exactly! :) I can't speak for any game in development and even if I could, I wouldn't. No game will launch how the gaming public wants it to be. It will have bugs and issues and things will be missing or broken. To think a game will launch perfectly is to have a delusion of grandeur. So the question is how broken will the game be when it launches. LOTRO? Not broken that much but had a few issues. AOC? Fairly broken. WOW? Fairly broken. Vanguard? VERY broken. All had issues and all got better. Heck, I know a lot of people who say vanguard is a great game now (believe it or not).

Its like movies. Have you ever noticed how big name movies NEVER live up to the hype? go back and read reviews of some big name movies and see how people reacted. I guarantee you will see things like "I was expecting more"; "it wasn't as good as I thought it would be"; "it should have been better".

And you are sitting there going, "people! Did we watch the same movie? I thought it was damn good!". The hype killed the movie; it wasn't that it was a bad movie, it just wasn't what they expected.

As to the "half of a movie/steak" comment: I would be upset since a movie is two hours or a steak is a dinner. But if I play 15 hours a week/60hours a month, that is about 25 cents an hour. I can earn that 15 bucks back quickly - even in a game that isn't finished.

And yep save the quote! :) I will stick buy it.

I would safely say LOTRO broken, with all it s components in at launch as promised:)

You expected a mediocre game, and you admittedly got one. Why are you surprised other people are not in awe of it, or they simply felt the game wasn't as promised? Some people expect more than combat and exploration out of a game that has a required 15 dollar a month price tag. Heck, you can do that in D&L.

The "trolls" get it. You fanbois don't. I am very happy you are easily amused, but some of us aren't.

I am no fanboi and if you read my post history, you would notice that I am as hard on AOC as many "trolls" but, unlike many of them, I have a fair and open mind. I do not expect perfection as many of them do. I did expect more out of the game, I just figured that all of things I did expect would be encompassed by the term "fun". I am not going to waste my time detailing my expectations here.

Is $15 that much? Really? What do you get for $15? Well it bought me a quarter of a steak last night. I got 2 movie tickets for $16 dollars today. I bought three books today that were about $15 each. I have 3 small bags of jelly-Belly's on my desk that were close to $15 total.

$15 a month breaks down to a little less than 50 cents a day. Well damn then - I will skip that Snickers bar tomorrow during my break. $15 doesn't go far anymore and I really do not have that many expectations for anything $15 can get you anymore.

Yes, the game is mediocre. I think WOW and LOTRO and TR and EQ2 are mediocre. Do I think they are worth $15? Nope, not anymore because I am bored with them and they are no longer fun for me. Is Age of Conan worth $15 to me? Sure is because, even in its current state, I find it fun and interesting. Perfect, no. Fun, yes.

And the trolls here "get" nothing beyond their own twisted view of the game. All they desire is the perfect game and they will continually be disappointed. I can't wait for the complaints and comments as to how imperfect WAR, Aion, TCOS and Darkfall will be. They will be disappointed again because those games will launch in a state equal to Age of Conan.

Woah, can t speak for Aion , TCOS, or darkfall, but i can tell you from abeta testers point of view. War is in a better state to release then AOC is now or probably 2-3 months from now. Also on the $15 a month, i agree it s not much, but to pay for IMO an incomplete game is wrong. Would you go to the movies if you could watch half of it now and the rest in a few months? Or would you eat a half eaten steak? I know i wouldn t.

True, o agree but the core mechanics are there is all i ll say :) Yes people hype themselves up alot i agree. That said i m pretty confident without getting too excited that WAR is safe :)

You might want to post this piece under a blog and not your front page section mmorpg.com.

Anyway I knew that this game would be huge so I made sure I pre-ordered from a reputable company. Any time you order from a compnay other than EB games/Gamestop you take a risk. They specialize in hot games and have the best success at fulfilling pre-orders. Even then they mess up somtimes. Thats why you have to follow up on yoru order and be prepared for a limited quantity being available. I  made sure I logged in all keys (pre-order, early acccess etc) in a timely manner. I even pre-ordered at two retailers  just in case. I got my copies and had no problems.

Worst article I have ever read on here.

Theres alot of truth to the article though, this is why to someone who likes it will say this. Where were all you guys when the reviews were out after just the starter area. They were all good reviews, where were all you guys saying oh well it s not really a fair article it s not a full review. Instead all i saw was thats bang on this game is awesome, etc. I can understand it seems biased but theres no difference with this one as there are with the glaringly obvious paid by FC ones.

I couldn t think of one game that really comes close to DAOCs pvp. To this day i re sub on and off and always have fun in it. That said when the servers were packed it was even more fun. There is a new server come out in aug/sept called "Origins" server and they re taking the frontiers back to the old days(which i liked better). There will still be some things in the newer DAOC on this server but generally it will have to feel the old times had. I for one will be playing the new server alongside WAR when it s released. Now lets hope this rumor thats been around that they ll package deal sub price with WAR and DAOC, something along the lines SOE does.

Wow if any company wanted a game this way they should re think their entire company.

What you say seems reasonable. The only flaw i see is that down the road more games come out and taking the hit for the now to have a lasting product graphics wise for the future won t really matter. People will get bored move on try other things. Thus why take the hit now when you could even make more money? Just a thought.

Or don t buy it wait for a trial, judge it without spending money. That would be the smart thing to do IMO.

I paid for a beta game with many basic game aspects simply missing.

You like the game - fine. Feel free to express your opinions :)

As will I. My conscience does not allow me to simply chalk up the money I paid as "bad luck". I was promised a game that simply did not deliver.

I still subscribe to other MMOs and have a blast playing them :)

You were promised a game...but you haven't given it a chance to deliver. The game has hardly been out a month. You cancelled n left before it had the chance to finish up. Games usually get better with age. Most ppl seem to forget how badly many games started up. Many start with things in the game not finished up is my point. Try the game out a bit more...what did you give it...a few days? a week? Obviously not long enouph. Many of the promised features you cry that you are missing shouldn't much affect you till later on in the game. Or did you max lvl n do all the crafting n build a city within the first week?

Thats not the point at all. He/she has every right to complain if features aren t in that were PROMISED to be in at release. If they weren t there would be alot less backlash about it. FC made a mistake, now they re scrambling to make up for it. This isn t acceptable and no one should be paying to test it out at all. Bugs, unseen things fine, but features promised at release and not there is ridiculous.

I wonder if the earliest reviews that had nothing but good things to say about AOC upset the fanbois. Nope it didn t now some later reviews showing alot of it s downfalls are giving it around a 7 upsets them. Lol this is what happens when the real game is being reviewed not just a little bit. The problew is alot of people can hit max quickly , so to review a game a few weeks old that has proven to be easy leveling, can have fair reviews of near to end game.
