My all time favorite game is DAOC, so I obviously love the big fights, but that just looked like a big stale mate. Not my idea of fun, or amazing. I still remember my time in Shadowbane. I was part of a guild called Deathead Legion, and well we owned the server. For people who are going to play this game, hope one guild doesn t become that big, it even got boring for me on the winning side.

You negative nancies are worse than lawyers trying to split hairs. It's simple, anet has clarified multiple times that there will be no advantage. In plain English. You can go ahead and try to re-interpret it however you like, from information that you don't have. But it doesn't hold a candle to what anet has said more than once. Why not simply wait to judge if they are true to their word by seeing what is in the cash shop? Or are you really chomping at the bit hoping it is really bad? Pathetic, either way.

Bingo, yet entertaining.

I think it s funny watching all these people get all excited over really nothing. The system looks like all win to me.

Because they haven't dropped the bomb yet.

Damn, you have inside info, do tell.

It's exactly because we DO NOT have all the details.

Honestly. How can people in this forum see the announcement of a cash shop and say "ALL WIN!"?

You can pay or not? Seems all win to me. We have choice, strange people would like that. Get used to it, MMOs are not going to be sub games soon enough. I personally like it.

I think you are missing the point of what Pay to Win is.. Not that I am saying Pay to Win in GW2, I am saying I despise cash shops. But back to the point.

In a Cash Shop it's not about you. It's about the other guy. He's using the cash shop extensively.

I m fully aware of what P2W is, and I m saying I could care less what other people do with their time and money. If I can play it my way, I don t care whay Joe Blow buys from a cash shop.

We don't have all of  the details, while it's a little early to flip out, it's also way to early to say it's all win..

Fair enough, but I don t take gaming as serious as some people I guess. I love gaming, I play alot of games, but I don t freak out over something we know really nothing about, and well games in general.

You are freaking out over the thought that the cash shop might be pay to win before you have enough information to be sure, that is taking gaming very seriously.

Lol, not at all, I said nothing of the sort. Actually I said I could care less, not really freaking out.

I find it funny watching all these people try to twist logic every which way in order to avoid admitting a cash shop system is turning out to be pay to win. Call a spade a spade.

Lol, I guess I don t care enough if someone buys what I can accomplish by playing. I also think it won t be P2W, but whatever, we can t say whos right until it s released. So why try to argue that point.

I would much prefer a monthly fee over this. What you have in the game should reflect what you have accomplished in the game imo, vanity items are ok though.  Anything that can be bought for gold loses alot the sense of accomplishment for people who put in the effort to obtain it with this system, I play EvE and I don't like PLEX either.

Please offer servers with a monthly fee and no RMT Arenanet, I'm sure there is a demand for it.

You left out one important part of your logic equation. All games like you describe already have gold farmers , who in turn sell it to "p2w" players. So the system exists already in every game. Anet has diminished gold farming, and at the same time, made gold a second tier currency.

The only currency that impacts game play in a competitive way, is Kharma, Tokens, and unlocking skills. The only way to obtain those currencies is with game time played.

Gold farmers exist in every game yeah, making RMT easily accessible to everyone will increase the RMT significantly and isn't a solution to the issue as far as I'm concerned. If they kept vanity items as the only items purchaseable with gems then I would agree that it has no real impact on the game, they didn't and you can clearly pay money instead of spending time to obtain items that affect your character or accomplish things.

The argument that you can only buy time conveniences is silly imo, if you don't put in the time then you don't deserve whatever it is you want, earn it like people used to do in games.

Good god, worry about you and not what others are doing. It s not a race, and if someone wants to bypass stuff who cares. Just play it the way you want.

It's funny you say that since the reasons people use RMT is to get ahead in "the race" or to look good. Not many people would spend money in a single player game's cash shop, with similar items. All online games are competitive in some sense, you compare yourself to others to see how you look and what you have achieved.

Not in the least. I could care less what other people have done or not done. It s a game, if people decide to take the easy route then let them. I play my way and could care less what others do. It doesn t effect me in the least.

Im still trying understand where you think you can buy items that give advantages? How fast one levels or obtains something doesn't impact you in any way. No more than if you played 10 hours a day, the guy who plays 12 will have the same.

The fact that gold farmers already provide this in every game out there makes the whole uproar a silly point. But the brilliant part of what Anet has done is remove that advantage to a large degree by making gold a second tier currency.

You cannot gain kharma or skill points without time played. And those are the only direct competive interactions with other players. Which in turn, makes a wallet warrior mad as hell. Because he can't BUY the Sword of a thousand truths, even by using illegal paths like gold farmers.

Now if that elite skill sold in the CE is available at level one, now that is p2w IMO.

The problem is, people aren t reading. They re just scanning through the posts and getting a muddled idea of how it works.

Wow.

What the hell happened to earning things in game? Isn't the point of playing video games fun via rewards? If people are allowed to purchase the reward; doesn't that defeat the ENTIRE purpose of the game? All you have to do is pull out your wallet and you can unlock that extra content......terrible.

Like I just said. play it your way, who cares what anyone else does.

Who cares what other people do, play it your way. I don t see the big deal about this. If this game was like a WOW treadmill, then sure, but it s not.

How big is the file? Canada is run by greedy companies and have crappy bandwidth caps that hold our technology back..

Just curious.

Lol, I go over the cap every single month, and I m never charged for it. On the phone with a Shaw rep, and they said, it s implemented, but so many people are against it they haven t started capping, and probably never will.

I believe that they are trying to herd off people from the Tera beta that starts this weekend.

I doubt they re even remotely worried about Tera.

I really like the combat in Tera. However, I'm so exhausted with the hub-to-hub quest progression. It's not that the game is bad or anything; I'm just completely tired of the funnel-formula.

All games do that, you'll be lucky to find something different.

I ll agree, but some games hide it alot better then Tera. I really tried to like Tera, and was rather excited about it, until I tried the betas. It s just very average to me.

ArcheAge could be our only hope for this, or World of Darkness, or PlanetSide2, or just play EVE.

Planetside 2 I ll be living in once it s released, i ll agree with you on that statement.

the game wasen't for you.

i ve been playing every Beta and so far been having a blast.   got 2 chars level 32, have done lots of grouping, and been exploring alot.  to me is the best looking  and most fun MMO available.   i will play Tera along side with GW2 so won't ever gonna be bored!p

I agree entirely the game isn t for me. I tried, I really did, but it just doesn t grab me at all. I m looking for DAOC rvr mixed with a decent pve game, I won t even mention what game I m looking forward to, thats for another games forum:)
