POLL - 70% of DF Beta Testers feel game isn’t ready - Needs to be delayed.

If you are not a beta tester, you wont understand. The testers are loving the game, its more than just a world. However, many see these rabid haters who have no clue what they are talking about via forums. Its not hard to say "delay the game until we test all the features and squash the bugs." Essentially OP, you are turning a neutral poll into a means to be negative. This is a big undertaking by a small company, this is their first mmorpg. Did you know team fortress 2 was in development since 1998? Prey took over 10 years to develop? Games like WoW were in production long before it was announced. Just saying you cannot judge a game by how long it takes to ship what they feel is a finished product. Most mainstream games with bigger budgets and bigger teams take anywhere from 4-6 years to develop a mmorpg. The bigger and more complicated the game, the more it cost, the more time is needed. Games are better when they are delayed, rather than released early, which happens way too often with these big publishers. We can all agree it wasnt very smart of Aventurine to give a release date to begin with, like Blizzard they should keep it in TBA status. The haters calling it vaporware didnt help, and probably influenced Aventurine to give a release date when they shouldnt have. Either way, they have learned not to bother with the average gamer, because as many of you have shown them, you are not reasonable. People over the internet are just retards at times. Anyways, just dont judge the game till its released. Dont judge it because of its development time, that doesnt matter, especially when you look at the facts. Dont judge it because a developer is trying to do PR and did a bad job at it. Judge the game as a game for a game when its released.

If anyone has a spare buddy key I'd really love to have one. Also, I'm new to the game I'd love it if someone could, so to speak, show me the ropes. I really like PVP and I really liked DAoC back in the day so I'm sure I'd love this if I could get in with a bunch of friendly folks. Email: sjones204g@gmail.com Thanks |

If you're familiar with EVE's bounty system then you know exactly what I'm talking about. In EVE, if a character has a low enough security raiting (a red in UO, basically) then other players can place a bounty on their head. When another person looks at said criminal's photograph they'll see the word "WANTED" scrawled across it along with the amount payable to the first person to lob off his virtual head (or jettison him into space, as it were). Here is the official forum's thread about this topic Now. Do you guys think that DFO could have a bounty system like EVE's? |

UO: 2 years DAoC: 1 year WoW: 3+ years Not everyone's first MMO was WoW. I'm dying for Darkfall to come out. |

Well for starters you can have a clone that saves your skill points. If you die you resurrect at the station where you've stored your clone. You lose everything on your ship as well as your implants. However, if you have insurance for your ship it will mitigate your loss.
For me, EVE is all about the planning and general geekery like numbers and averages and stuff.
Also, I couldn't play EVE if it weren't for EVEMon. I'd get quickly overwhelmed with managing my 8 characters. Even with only one character it certainly increases the fun factor by 10.

I'd play LOTRO if it weren't for the goofy character animations when they run. |

Maybe not burn things but I think thats becoming less common with people moving to portable players. Also I buy a console because I know it will get the big name games I want and I know Ill be able to play them. Companies are starting to hold back on the PC because they can sell so many more copies on consoles. Now I do enjoy working with my computer but I don't hae the cash to do it often. I make a one tim epayment for a console and don't have to worry about weather or not it can handle Mass Effect 2 or Halo 4.
The price difference between a DVD reader and DVD writer is getting really small lately. According to Newegg you're looking at about $25 for a DVD burner and about $17 for a DVD player. |

Calling out the claims of Aventurine / Tasos OR why I DON'T believe

My guess the reason they aren't/won't do preorders is because those are normally done for games that are sold in boxes. I'm willing to bet there will never be a Darkfall box.

Except that UO didn't have "groups". Even THAT is a carebear concept but I don't hear people bitching about that. |

Thanks, I kind of got bored from chanting "Darkfail ROFLMFAO!". Besides I realized I don't really want it to fail, since everyother MMORPG is a steaming pile of PvE grind anyway. I'd just appreciate it if Aventurine got thier shit together and started being honest about the situatuion of Darkfall. Some claim they are and just decide to refrain from giving information until neccesary. I feel that with thier past record of setting dates, missing them and not saying anything about it, the onus is on Aventurine to prove to me that this is the real thing and not just another circus. I'm really just waiting for SGW (prefer sci-fi), but if Darkfall was to be released as promised it might set MMORPGs back on the right track. The ideas of player housing and PvP with consequences, also real live events like having an invasion or story arcs each month need to be re-introduced to MMORPGs. Just having a shitty PvE grind and leaving it at that with boring non consequence PvP as an after thought has gone on too long in my opinion. I played MMOs where you picked a side and had something to fight for, now you pick the OP class, so that you have something to grind for!
That's it. I'm not, neccessarily, insulting Adventurine I'm simply stating the obvious. I love the concept of Darkfall and I've already taken the 22nd and 23rd off work, I just hope i don't have to reschedule. |

I think Darkfall is going to end up in the same space (no pun!) as EVE. In EVE you don't min-max so much as you just get the skills you need for what you want to accomplish. It's obvious what is needed. You wanna kill people with Drones? Get drone skills. You wanna do some mining? Get some mining skills. |

Much like American copyrights, they're only as strong as the legal team the backing company can afford. Adventurine would have to spent a TON of money to enforce an NDA overseas. There's another little contract kinda like an NDA called a EULA (end user license agreement). We all agreed to the Microsoft EULA (unless we're using something else). The Russian courts threw out a case that tried to enforce RAMPANT software piracy in Russian schools. Microsoft spent lots of money to fight it. In the end they got nothing. EULA's aren't enforceable. NDA's aren't enforceable. Copyrights and Trademarks are barely enforceable. |

you wanna bet
Yes I do. Give me the Aventurine NDA to sign. I will sign it and release as much info and videos as I can everywhere I want and there would not be a damn thing they could do to me because for 1 they would never know it's me.. and two... they wouldn't waste their time or money on trying to enforce an NDA from a video game..
I've always thought the same thing. Maybe I'm a criminal at heart or maybe I like a little chaos with my morning bagel?
