People have been playing first-person shooters for a long time now, there never was any real online "PvE" component to any first-person shooter and those who I presume that desire PvP over PvE nowadays are those who are more aligned with an FPS background.  Now with more and more people coming to the MMO genre these same people desire to kill other real players and not NPC's.  Fighting live players can be much more unpredictable than any AI to date which in turn provides ENDLESS gameplay in a single battleground as opposed to conquering a new instance and memorizing boss mob strategies.

What WAR offers over other current PvP systems is a feeling of REAL contribution to an overall effort, not just BG's (e.g. WoW where its nothing more than a self-fulfilling honor grind.)  WAR wants you to feel like you're apart of a constant war waging battle against others in furious PvP to gain the ultimate prize; the opponent's capital city!

Goblin Shaman, not Orc Shaman.

Ditch WoW and get ready for WAR!

WAR's PvP/RvR will dominate the market.
I await WAR with no substitutes.
Your solution: www.warhammeronline.com

Every class can solo, every class can kick some serious butt.  No more "healers in the back."
Why WAR gives me wood:
  • RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX - KILLING ENEMY PLAYERS!
  • GETTING EXPERIENCE FOR KILLING ENEMY PLAYERS!
  • QUESTS AIMED AT: KILLING ENEMY PLAYERS!
  • RAIDING AND RANSACKING ENEMY CITIES WHILST; KILLING ENEMY PLAYERS!
  • GETTING LOOT OFF OF DEAD ENEMY PLAYERS!
  • GETTING TO LVL 40 BY JUST DOING RvR/PvP (aka KILLING ENEMY PLAYERS!)
You can't do all of that in any other one MMO out there, period.  (UO comes close)
Also, Exteel is a fun alternative...  more arcade style, but quite enjoyable.
It's been attempted...  the game was insanely fun, but got canned at the last minute.

If you're looking for the best, WAR (Warhammer Online) will be offering everything a PvP'er could possibly desire; gain exp for killing other players, loot player's bodies (randomly generated loot, but still), real world PvP objectives that actually matter, RvR/PvP oriented quests, etc...  you could literally get to the highest lvl by just PvP'ing.  And I assume endgame content will be PvP based as well.  *crosses fingers*

[Unfortunately it won't be out until roughly Spring 2008.]

I'm glad to see Sega has finally made an announcement regarding PSU, I remember the trailer as well and I had been hoping to hear about it sooner.

I'm hoping for a few things in this release:

1) Cross platform gameplay, where you can play w/ people on PS2 and PC, such as FFXI.

2) Better netcode.

3) More diversity in the quests and zones.

Oh well, we'll see.

More screenshots:

Fun video thrown together by the guild leaders of "Eternal Omen" on the Warsong (PvP) server. Pyrotekk and I have come together to bring you a challenge of random jumps, rebounds and falls known only as "Mount Tricking".

We have the video hosted publicly at:
http://www.viper118.com/mount_trix/

You'll need WinRAR (
http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm) to open it up and extract it. Feel free to leave comments. It's kinda short, but enjoy!

Uh oh. Might have mis-typed your email. May want to talk to the MMORPG staff to see if they can check what you filled out. Or maybe it's just a little slow getting to you. I dunno.

"Let me see if understand you... If I put my sword down and you put your rock down, we'll kill each other like civilized people?"

Yeah, I e-mailed the staff and hopefully will get this straightened.  And I did get the e-mail from MMORPG.com titled "MMORPG.COM - Ryzom Beta Contest Update!", so I haven't had any problems receiving e-mails from the account I put in my MMORPG.com account profile.  I've also been carefully examining my "Junk E-Mail" folder which my e-mail program dumps probable "spam mail" into, so there's no way I could've accidentally deleted it.

I still haven't received my confirmation e-mail from The Themis Group.

*sigh*

I'm in the Korean beta, this game has real potential, no other MMORPG has combat such as this.  (Just wish I could read the text, lol.)
