Hold on a sec, gamers, EU is simply something else
General Discussion « Entropia Universe 1/20/08 5:41:56 AM
I opened this thread expecting to see a debate on the European Union, how disapointed I was to find its this game. Probably not a good idea to use abbreviations that are used by a country in topic titles. Im sure if you used "USA" people would be asking "WTF???". |

I did a search, but im struggling to find set figures for game sales, all im getting press editorials. I'd be interested to read the set sale records. That said, its been common knowledge that Console game sales have been surpassing PC game sales for decades. And as was said in the video, the newest reason for a lapse in PC game sales is the culture of downloading games from torrent. I download movies, music, but ive never downloaded a game. Purely becuase I know that downloading games is jeapodising the industry and the quality of future games. Bleh. I doubt Torrenting is going to be completely tackled, and even if it is there are other methods of downloading, so the only way this is going to go for PC gaming is with MMO's. |

Your missing the point completely. Nobody is saying adding a race based on African Physiology is bad. |

Warhammer has lore thats been written decades ago, everything they put in now, they do so at the whim of Games Workshop. Even if they wanted to, Mythic couldnt make the decision to add a race of african physiology. This is something you need to to take to Games Workshop. |

I also recall AO added a perk system before WoW hit the shelf, it works to the same degree as the WoW talent system if a little less complex. |
|
|
Well to be honest the game would be pretty bland if it didnt include some form of specialization. We know classes arent skill based, every goblin squigg herder has the exact same skills, they need atleast some way to add customization and uniqueness. Besides, WoW's Talent system is a copy of D&D's Feat system. MMO's evolve, stop going off on these "zomg they copied" rants...

Asking if people "think" something will be factual is an interesting way to phrase your question. If you want an informative answer I'd definately seek revision. My answer is dont presume anything. Wait for a information from Mythic which after a quick google there doesnt appear to be any. |

Could a Medieval game work WITHOUT magic.
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 1/02/08 9:38:19 PM
Interesting Idea, looking at this logically, you'd need to break it down into categories, PVP and PVE.
Looking at PVP first im going to base my assumptions on an emphasis of realism. I presume there will be no healing during battle, this would encourage players to work together as a unit and band together in numbers. Instead of risking it alone. Then we have a load of Zergs running around, which results in only noobs and the daring soloing it. Battles are large and involve numerous players. Perhaps the Devs could then add some kind of group formations...
Phalanx - All players in the unit use a great shield and a short sword. They advance in the greek hoplai style, their shield covering their body and reliant on the man to the right. This was employed by romans, in early Medieval eras, warriors learnt to use this tactic and both sides would advance until shield clashed and it became a mass pushing, spitting and biting match. Spearwall - Counter against Cavalry?
Thats all that comes off the top of my head, but hell, I'd definately give the game a try. As far as PVE goes, it could be much more flexible, from cave raiding with monsters inside, to simple quests to kill encroaching hordes. I think a morale system like LOTRO would work best, not hitpoints.
Its an interesting concept, as long as the game doesnt turn into the mass ridiculous battles that hollywood likes to churn out (braveheart, last samurai etc).
