While it's not exactly an MMO in the truest sense (it is multiplayer), Neverwinter Nights and Neverwinter Nights 2 have amazingly robust tools available for creating player-generated content. I'm a big fan of both of those games, and I've even tried my hand at building some content. Just Google NWN 2 mods/content or whatever, and you'll see what I mean.

Yah what's the problem with asking for keys?  Way to be rude.

go down to the end...

and 1 how was that rude

2 was i even talkijng to you

3 do i even know you...

Yes you are correct; you're not allowed to ask for the beta key on RoM forums.  However, a MMORPG community forum, like this one, will have people asking questions or asking for help that they otherwise could not on other forums.  So...

1. It was rude of you to say that you would report these people, myself included, for asking for others' assistance.

2. No you weren't talking to me, but your response does concern me since I asked for a key as well.

3. No you don't know me, but again this is a community forum; expect strangers from the community, who can see your posts, to respond from time to time.

that is why i said I WISH!

Well, you can wish all you like; the fact is, YOU are the one being stupid and obnoxious here as the entire point to this thread is to assist people who were unable to acquire a beta key for whatever reason. I had multiple keys to give away, and as I have received keys from many generous forum members for other MMOs, I felt that we, as a community, should work together to garner more testers/more publicity for RoM, which can only help its progress in the end.

Due to the "invite a friend system," this type of thread serves to facilitate the process, and it has apparently worked since many people have received invites/given invites due to the existence of this thread.

Anyone who has been a member of MMORPG.com's forums for the past several years is well aware of the fact that threads like this one are often created on these forums (anyone remember the Mythos invite thread?). They only serve to help the community in the end for multiple reasons, the least of which being that this prevents duplicate threads from being created as all key requests can be consolidated into this thread alone.

Now, go troll somewhere else...

EDIT:

Also, I am OUT of keys, so no more PMs, guys. If you've already PMed me, I'll keep you on my list in case I receive anymore invites. But again, if you send me a new PM, I'll just delete it.

Also, a lot  of you (not all of you, of course) seem to be looking for a way to just "try out" the game, so to speak. It might help if you explain WHY you want to test the game so people who have invites to giveaway can make a choice as to whom they wish to distribute the key to this way. I'd rather see people who actually want to test the game get invites rather than "gimm33 k33z pl33z!111!" people getting invited. If you just want to preview the game, wait for the open beta, please.

Also, if you are given an invite, remember to DELETE your e-mail address from your post.

And if you have an invite to give out, POST in this thread and inform people so they can PM you instead of posting their e-mail address.

(Okay, unless I can convince anyone else I know to give up their invites, that's the end of them. But... I know a few more people who might be willing to invite someone, so, if you're truly interested in testing the game, don't hesitate to post here. And... for the umpteenth time, if I have given you an invite, I honestly hope that you'll come back here and give the one CB invitation you are granted to someone else from these forums.)

Remember, in return, I ask that you both come back with your extra invites and try to issue them to people from these forums who have asked for one. Again, this is a closed beta test, and our primary purpose is to test the game so we can improve it before it  goes live.

If you're still looking for a beta invitation, post here in case I manage to come up with any more, or in case another closed beta tester has an invite which they would like to give to someone here.

Actually, I like many things about WAR or I wouldn't keep playing. My biggest complaints would be related to atmosphere; NO, not the dark/gritty environment, which I LOVE, but the lack of looping music, the lack of an ability to walk (sometimes I like to roleplay my character, so always running seems pretty unrealistic), the inability to sit down on the ground or in chairs (no /sit feature at ALL?), and, as the OP stated, the usually empty cities, which exudes a feeling you don't want to get from an MMO... ever.

Take AoC for example... At launch it ran more like a slideshow for some people and was as buggy as hell, but what a KILLER soundtrack it had, which left a very good first impression in my case in spite of its other flaws. What a difference a little music can make. WAR isn't nearly as buggy as AoC was, but the game doesn't feel as "movie-like" due to its lack of any amazing music. Sure, what tracks I have heard are pretty good, but there are far too few of them, and they really should add a looping option. The constant sound of drums in the background gets on my nerves after a while.

The problems I mentioned are minor but certainly impact a new player's first impression. I'm hoping that the music/emote issues will be addressed in the future, so I'm not worrying about it right now. And even if they aren't, it's not game-breaking.

Thank you so much!

I sent you the invite because you're the first person who has given me a non-hotmail/non-yahoo e-mail address, which the RoM invite system doesn't want to accept.

Remember that you will have one invite that YOU can send out once you create your account, so you can invite your fiance using that. In return, I only ask that when her account is granted an invite also, you make sure to give it to someone else who might be looking for a chance to get into the closed beta, and so forth.

EDIT: See the original post for an update. I have another invite available.

Did you miss out on the chance to get a key for the Runes of Magic closed beta test, but you still want an opportunity to test the game? Well, closed beta testers now have the ability to invite ONE of their friends into the closed beta test.

So, if you need a key, you can request one here or PM me and I'll see if I can hook you up with one.

  • Note that I -will- need the e-mail address in which the key will be sent to, so it might be better to PM me. If you do opt to post your e-mail address here, remember to REMOVE it from your post as soon as you receive an invite so as to avoid spam-bots, or, as another member suggested, add (at) instead of @ or (dot) instead of "." or something similar to this when posting your e-mail address.
  • REMEMBER that you can only use NON-yahoo/hotmail e-mail addresses. Live.com addresses WILL work. If you PM me with the wrong type of e-mail address, I won't respond as you obviously didn't bother to read this post.
  • If you have an invitation to give out, I ask that you post here so that other forum members can PM you with a request instead of having to post their e-mail addresses.
  • Keep in mind that this IS a closed beta test, and your job is not simply to preview the game, but to help make it more polished via actual testing, giving feedback, and bug reporting. We all want this game to succeed, right? Well, it's up to us players to contribute as much effort as possible, then.
  • Lastly, If you are given an invite, your RoM account should be granted a beta invitation when you create it, so in return for receiving one from an MMORPG.com forum member, try to give the invitation to someone who is ALSO from these forums so that we can continue the inviting process and garner more testers for the game.

It's a shame since adding the forum to the list would surely bring more people to visit it, heh.

This is just BS... I PAID for my account a few days ago and today I get an e-mail stating that they "froze" my account.

EDIT:

And, yes, of course I'm contacting customer service. Still, I honestly don't understand why this happened since I was successfully billed for my subscription.

Also, before anyone accuses me of bashing the game, I actually LIKE AoC and will gladly continue playing if this is resolved in a timely manner by a CS agent. I'm just very frustrated by this.

EDIT #2:

Well, they did fix it, so I guess all is well in that regard.

I'm one of the "whackjobs" who should "eat dick"  (because I liked SWG's pre-CU version?) according to the world's most pathetic developer (Dan Rubenfield), and I also happened to be one of the people who left SWG shortly after the CU launched. Ironically, the link the OP provided is the first glimpse I've EVER had of Dan's blog entry... and all I can say is... wow, that guy really is a dumbass. Talk about adding insult to injury. You know, I'm really glad I quit SWG now, and I'll never look back again.

Moving on to RG.... *dies of laughter* Wow, the guy can't read, can he? It almost seemed like a canned response, kind of like the GM responses I used to get from my SOE tickets in-game (thinking back to SWG again). Oh well; at least I can clearly see why TR plummeted to its doom like it did. It's sad... I really want a sci-fi MMO to play.

I don't think it's racist to say people in Norway are more likely to support AOC  ,it's conjecture but it does have some logic as  Funcom is based in Norway and people should be patriotic towards it for reasons of national pride and "home grown is good " etc etc

I live in South Africa and if an MMO was released I would play it due to it  being South African and also if it was a bad game I wouldn't publicly denounce it or I would defend it ?I think that's normal

Then I can conclusively state that you and I are fundamentally different in that regard. I play a game based on the amount of enjoyment that I derive from it rather than the location of its development...

As someone who was on the fence about purchasing WAR after playing in the beta, I finally gave in and bought it just over a week ago. It has some minor issues, such as random CTDs at times, but overall, this game is much more polished than many other MMOs were at this stage after their release. If you enjoy PvPing, I think it's worth a shot, anyway. I know I'm enjoying it, although you shouldn't go in expecting too much, which I never do. I always do my research before purchasing any game so I know exactlty what to expect, which leads to far less disappointment in the end. The lack of looping music is probably my biggest gripe so far.

Overall, I give WAR an 8-8.5/10 in its current state (I'll rate it higher once the capital cities and two classes are back in), and I'm sure that Mythic will give us some great content in the future. But take my opinion, and anyone else's for that matter, at face value - it's an opinion. If you really want to find out if you'll like the game, you'll have to try it for yourself.

Honestly, as an ex-WoW addict (I finally quit once and for all a few months ago after having played since launch), I actually like WAR better, and that's saying something. Of course, I was an avid PvPer in WoW, so keep that in mind.

Well, just for the heck of it, I plan on reinstalling and playing the day that the servers go down. It'll be a nice addition to my MMO scrapbook of screenshots.

It's funny; those are the exact words I said to my friend a few minutes ago. But I'm not surprised. RG leaving NCsoft made me wonder when this announcement would come, although I wasn't expecting it quite so soon.

I don't really care about the crappy compensation being offered to us active-subscribers (not interested in the Aion beta or CoH), but I didn't spend much on the game, so whatever.

And if you've come from the WAR or AoC forums, then this is hardly a bitchfest... yet.

But, in my case, I was already prepared for this in the respect that I reactivated another MMO subscription, so I'm just moving on.

While the game was far from perfect, I'm still disappointed to see this since there are so few sci-fi MMOs to choose from as it is.

It sucks, but not much you can do about it. At least there are some other sci-fi MMOs in development right now, although I'm not holding my breath.

EDIT:

Torak, I'm surprised that there aren't MORE duplicate threads, to be honest. I guess was expecting a huge bitchfest, heh.

Why am I mentioning go on a date?  That is what an MMO does, it takes the player on a non-romantic date every time the player logs in.  It might be a solo movie or a small group bar hop or a big house party raid.  But it does that with a different skin.

Some people will say "Blah blah sandbox blah blah blah sandbox".  Well that is fine, some people are that self-directed and such and enjoy it.  And even in my above date example you can find women who would be perfectly happy free forming it up and just going out and doing whatever.  But this is a rarity.   And usually if you try it you are vaguely seen as weak unless you are a very dynamic person.  Does it happen?  Yes but it is by far not the standard.  Most people like structure and direction.  Man or women.  Its just the expected role in a romantic situation that a man provide that direction.  But it could easily be the role of anyone when they are the host of a small party for example.

Love the undercurrent of sexism in your post.

Lovely grammar as well. Keep up the good work.  /sarcasm
