better, worse. any big changes to auction, pvp, questing, raiding? pretty much what's the low down on eq2 today as oppose to eq2 a couple years ago?
previous game xp bout 4 years in EQ and close to 4 in WoW retired in both, currently messing around with PotC and actually like the game, thinking WAR may be an awesome game but who knows. oh! dabbled in a bunch of MMOs including maybe a month of eq2 |

Originally posted by LuckyRlol that's exactly what i'm afraid of if i download, patch everything i may only last an hour or so before i uninstall. I have to admit though according to mmochart http://www.mmogchart.com/Chart1.html it has a bigger player base today then it did 5 years ago and with that many active accounts i don't see it going away anytime soon. |

Let's face it love it or hate it WoW is the king of the hill when it comes to MMO's they make the most $$ have the most players by far. By every means it's the game to beat when it comes to MMOs. My question is what game do you feel has a chance of knocking WoW off the top of the hill to become the new King?
My research (which isn't much) makes me come to this conclusion that there is no game to date that can knock WoW off and become the new king. I don't think there is anything in development that would be able to do so either. There is one game that may put a dent into the shiny purple armor of the WoW Juggernaut and that is Warhammer but I only see a slight dent or maybe a few dings in the armor. Another possibility is for an eastern mmo to become extremely popular on the western front perhaps Lineage 2? Although again i don't see much more then a dent in that toony shiny epic breastplate of the Death knight known as WoW. It seems to me west and east gamers differ greatly when it comes to MMO structure and playing. It also seems that more eastern players are more acceptable to crossing over to the western front then the other way around. With all due respect to my eastern gamer bros i do think the Korean gamers are the most geeky dedicated hardcore gamers on the planet.
So what's your opinion, suggestions and/or questions about this topic? thx |

I don't think there is a game out there as well rounded as WoW. If it's pvp you want i dont think you'll find anything that comes close to WoW arena, bg's but i'm sure you'll find better world pvp since WoW's always sucked. Warhammer may be for you if you're a more traditional MMOer then perhaps eq,eq2,LotR I heard Lineage 2 is very good but haven't checked it out yet. |

Originally posted by nomadianBeserker class was out when i played my highest level toon was a 66 bard i did get the omens of war expansion but didn't get to involved with it and left soon after the release. Playing a bard i had a quick mana/hp regen but the 30 second out of combat thing seems to be a much needed feature for many classes. I guess no more standing around trying to buy a err kodiak intellect or ki whatever it was called. the auction house, bazaar or whatever do you still have to be logged on and in trader mode to sell your wares or they finally come up with an automated system?

I thought EQ (1) had get lore but started losing it after PoP and was gone by time i left at the expansion of Omens of War. There is very good Warcraft lore some of my favorite lore is about Thrall it's an awesome story but Blizzard def will sacrifices lore for gaming convenience every chance they get. playing 14 day trial on LotR atm and at level 6 it still stays true to the lore but then again what a level 6 know?

Man i used to love this game and although i left almost 5 years ago it's still my first MMO and the best memories were made playing this game. I played WoW at it's released and that game was very enjoyable for me but something about eq that just stuck with me. Anyway what's it like these days? Still alot of servers? graphics improved since omens of war? Do you see newbs playing the game for the first time still? I think the reason i missed this game the most is because i played a Bard and every other game i played didn't have a class that came close to the uniqueness of tan EQ bard. btw I did play eq2 and hated it. |

Originally posted by Wrender I dont know if they are paid employees that do that or just obessed gamers although i may be considered at one time as one of the two i'm def not either anymore. I really wasn't trying to knock the game i think it has potential I just didn't want to get too far involved before realizing that the game lacks in too many places. I like the positive responses about the game and it makes me look forward to playing it more. I enjoy WoW pvp the battlegrounds etc so i'll miss that but it's not the only thing i enjoy. oh as for graphic settings i keep them low so that maybe why i don't see the graphics being better. anyways thanks for the advice i'm going to play some more tonight. |

Originally posted by shamuonrye I totally agree with you, too me it seems the more life like devs try to make an MMO the less life like it seems to me. Maybe because i know that's what they're shooting for and i'll be a little more critical of the anime because of that. |

Last MMO i played was WoW from it's released before that EQ stopped shortly after Omens of War expansion. So far in LotR I have a level 6 guardian and level 4 minstrel. The game seems pretty good but is this a real MMO? I was kinda disappointed that after I finished my newbie quest that i was sent to an instance which was okay then sent back to the same map of the gaming world but it's a different zone or instance. In a way it's cool because it makes it seem as the gaming world is involving but on the other hand so far it seems i haven't been in a real MMO gaming world and despite a few people i passed on the way when doing Quest this game has a very single player feel to it. grant it i'm only level 6. Also compared to WoW the combat animation isn't that good it's almost identical to EQ and the fights take too long, i mean how many slashes and stabs can a piglet take before it kills over? apparently about 50. the graphic engine is about the same or maybe a little more advance then WoW but the artwork fails in comparison. With that said pls remember i'm only lev 6 in the game. So where will this game take me? I had a sparring match which was fun is there any decent pvp down the road? Raiding, grouping, the economy, what's the level cap? Overall i know i gave this game some crappy reviews but it still holding my interest so it cant be all that bad. |

lol no i can't make a 3rd option of "i dont give a damn" because then no one will choose between the two other options =p I have to agree with you about pve vs pvp i'm more toward pvp these days myself.. |

I'd like for mmo makers to stop the leveling
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 6/08/08 7:36:42 AM
A lot of people including myself like the leveling process more so than the end game. I have to admit though i do hate the time sink and would like the leveling process to not be so darn repetitious but unfortunately most MMOs whether leveling or endgame are just that repetitious. |
