To me, this is a perfect example of how our (Mine at least, the US) country is falling into the socialist mentality.

"We paid for a service or product, which currently lacks a feature they promised(not entirely on release) and now we want big government with its laws to protect us and attempt to get masses of money out of it."

This is absolutely pathetic, those in support of this are nothing but socialists who don't want to run their own lives, to be responsible for themselves and their decisions. Big deal, no DX10 YET. You want to drag our legal system into it? Big GovCo?

Please, I implore you, stop gaming. Go vote for Obama and hide in your homes, unemployed and collect my tax money to life off of. Let someone, everyone else take care of you.

See this is what happens when ppl start talking about politics in a gaming forum u see this idiots saying things they dont have a clue...

Yeah socialism is about living unemployed and sucking money outta big corporations O_O

All sueing is is you want to waste some of your time going through the court system to earn some extra money you do not really need you selfish bastard. Pay for the damage and that is it. Funcom should pay you for the game price nothing more at the most. quite being babies about it, it is just a game after all.

Did he really said all that crap?

So what if some poisoned food makes me sick the Restaurant all they have to pay is for some medicines and a checkup? What kind of responsability is that...

Oh yeah i fall in some mall and break a leg because there wasnt a sign and all they pay is for the Doctor and the medicines? Who pays all the time ill be with a casket without being able to do thousands of things? that doesnt have a price...

no. You cannot sue a MMORPG. Right in their EULA it states they are not held liable for changes in their game and development.

You cannot sue a game for coming out broking or sucking. Any lawyer will laugh you right out of the door. Especially for $50 or $80.

An EULA doesnt protect any company against false advertising they could write God is Black in the EULA and that wont go over the law

Well there are also some projects that dont end like that...

It is too easy to call crappy an MMO from this side of the wall, when ur on the other side the developers side making even the smallest MMO may seem like a great sucess

Also there is this neverending trend of MMO makers always promising stuff they cant deliver, first they start all ambitious and then they start cutting anything that seems to difficult...

Look now at what they did to Warhammer from 6 cities to 2 cities, 4 classes less, etc etc

In Age Of Conan also they started all ambitious and the PvP is meaningless because there is nothing implemented about it

Btw, i was reading the last posts and there is this game called Fiesta Online wich yeah is the typical asian MMO with all the grinding and stuff

But it has 1 interesting feature, Kingdom Quests, they are like a raid it has a matchmaking system where at determinated hours the server opens like slots to do the quest and anybody can join, and it is great it is fun, it isnt something that feels like a job, a bunch of guys that doesnt know each other gotta beat this dungeon and kill the boss at the end..

And yeah it is pretty nice to see how ppl work together without knowing each and i also think thats how it should be

-It takes too much of my time.

-It sets a timetable on my playtime. (be on at XX.XX because that's when the raid starts)

-I can't do what I want in the game.

-People take the game much too serious.

-I don't like to use Vent.

-Too much drama.

-Playing becomes work, and I don't want that really.

Anyone else feel the same way?

I hate raid will always hate them and i refuse to play 5 hours in a row to kills some gay boss mob NO THANKS... i like to do whatever i want get up of my chair whenever i want...

And i want to have FUN...

Dont get me wrong i love grouping and killing a mob boss and all the teamwork, but in short periods like the instances in WoW not the 8 hours marathon raids...

And the worst part is the point of killing the boss and the fact that ppl does the same raid 10 times to get an item... LORD

I had the same problem is so freakind idiotic that a game comes with 30 days free and that they ask for a credit card before u use those 30 days

It maskes no freaking sense...

Thank god i used a friends credit card without any problem i was getting pretty mad and i was going to return the game

No way in hell im going to spend 30$ extra without knowing if i may like or not the game and then i would have 3 months

You guys are missing the real change in the direction of mmorpgs, and thats it going from PvE focused games to PvP focused games. Developers are noticing that in order to give a long lasting meaning to the game they need something that keeps changing and that is pvp
New era = PvP

There isnt a succesfull PvP mmorpg out... if one of those games manages to do it well it is going to be a huge hit... it is going to be like counter strike in online Fps...

Lol gotta love the old shadowbane argument or the old pvp games have failed argument, how many REAL pvp games have been made? 2 or 3? how many PVE games have been made  thousands and just a few shine...

i totally agree with the writer

Nothing in this world compares to the feeling of danger, the conflicts betwen ppl and the community response, like when u are in ffa pvp zone and u got some guy close to u and ur thinking is he planning to attack me

And all the alliances and wars...

It makes the whole game feel more like it is controlled by the players and it is more immersive like when one guild member attacks a member from another guild and that causes a war u feel like your writing history

One of the best experiences i had in a MMO was in Neocron boy that was so nice

2 cents from this guy .

P.S.: What exactly do sales have to do with anything?

Are u really asking that? u kidding me?

Your buying a PRODUCT.... sales reflect the acceptance of that product by the public in a few words it means it is a great product ppl is buying it week after week it means ppl are encouraging other to buy that product...

Dont get me wrong i hate WoW i think it has nothing innovative but still u gotta accept they took all the best things of the old generation mmorpgs and implemented them perfectly into a one non innovative free of bugs mmorpg...

I dont think age of conan is going to take ppl from LOTRO it is a totally different crowd Age of Conan is 100% focused in PvP, LOTRO is all about PvE with only one aspect of pvp monster play

Im playing LOTRO it isnt the best thing ever... but it is ok... i just bought to pass time until age of conan comes out... see age of conan isnt dragging me from LOTRO i always had planned that... i bought LOTRO with the intention of leaving it

Dont think there is too many guys like me

Gee, you don't get it do you?  Your perfect MMO would be perfect alright only you and a few select others would be playing it.

Ever think what permanent death would do to the support group.  Constant petitions about how such and such game glitch killed them or they lost connection....etc.   It be a support nightmare to say the least.

What you left you off your little treatise, is that MMO's cost money to make, and must have a certain level of playerbase to support it.

What you propose would have neither.  Next time think a bit before you write something so ignorant.

Actually you should really think before posting ;) makeing yourself look like a fool.

Where is he wrong , any MMORPG that enforces perma death for ALL players IS going to have a very small, and like as not very unprofitable player base. Just because someone does not have your viewpoint does not make them wrong or misguided.

Both sides are merely opinions. Personally, I believe perma death when implemented correctly could allow for a better nextgen game with more immerrsion, danger, and social connotations.

The problem is with the current crop and design of EQ clones scattering the landscape, permadeath isn't appropriate. In a better designed game with a more intricate world, it'd not only be appropriate, it'd allow for a far deeper and more indepth gameplay than the current treadmills populated by stats mongers where the term death has absolutely no meaning or relevance at all.

Permadeath will come and it'll be the nextgen of game. I'm sorry, the instance based static respawn design limits MMOs. It in no way enables them as so many think.

/agree...

There is lot of limitations to make a game with all this features

First it needs money lots n lots of money... then great developers, a nice publisher that wont push something so revolutionary and lastly the hardest part is planning how it is going to be i think thats the toughest part even harder than coding...

Hardware and connections also limit how big mmorpgs can be... look at shadowbane... there was no way u could have good fps in a big battle it was crap...

And the last thing is time... such a next gen game could take more than 6 years...

So u just decided nobody is going to play a game like that because u know whats on the minds of the millions of mmorpg gamers...

Thats such a stupid reasoning...

U cant say if ppl is going to play it or not, or basicly u cant say for sure if it is going to be GREAT or not because nobody has done something like that... only muds... and that doesnt count lol...

Companies wont do something like this not because it wont have a big fan base but because it is going to be HELLA difficult  they gotta reinvent the whole mmorpg genre to do something like this

Well lets hope Age of Conan has huge sucess, even when they dont add all that much realism they do implement some new things that take mmorpgs in the right way

Meaningful PvP, Real time combat, a combat system that takes ehmm skill?, etc...

Granado espada is just another wow clone with a new theme... god lord asian games suck so much... is like they have a factory of mmorpgs cloning..

And the worst thing is that asians buy those mmorpgs... god lord...

I guess they just dont know anything better

I think we will be able to see something like that in the future...

There is too many problems still about PvP centered games

One of the main things is performance we saw what happened in Shadowbane...

Another thing is how difficult is to make such an open game

And the worst element is PEOPLE yeah.. ppl in games tend to act like retards and in most open games they tend to ruin the whole experience...

But yeah i like all the ideas and i want to see a game where ppl can form guild, towns, even a new country !! i want to see a game where politics play a role a game with rebels, nations, bandits, etc a game where u can build whatever the heck u want to build...

I hope one day we can see a huge project like that

Wow so many stupid ppl why post if u are not going to add anything? stupid posts like "It sicks nobody is going to buy it" brainless....

Well i like the idea of permadeath but i dont see it implemented in todays mmorpgs they gotta change almost everything, and i dont see it like something viable in a game thats purely focused in combat

I see something like that possible in a MMORPG that triest to imitate life like u start as a kid u grow up, get a job, depending in the timeline maybe u train as a warrior or as a crafter

I have seen 1 or 2 mmorpgs that had this idea but they just didnt make it, that kind of revolution can only be done by a big company with a big budget...

I like the idea just not in todays mmorpgs archtype....

Another thing u gotta consider is the human fact in mmorpgs u can make a great game with all those ideas but if the ppl playing it is inmature they are going to ruin the whole thing trust me

I really want this game to be all they promise it is going to be, im really in doubt that it is going to be that good as they wanna make us think but who knows

I just wish it is that good because it really is something different for the genre some fresh air...
