The argument is that B is preferable because hey, at least it keeps the game running. One of many problems with this kind of thinking is that there were never only these two options. For example, lets take a look at a former SOE developers perspective: "I wish at the very least we'd have been open and honest. Like, for example, told you, "Hey, you will probably hate this, but here's what it is." What I believe Jeff is suggesting here, is that if SOE was determined to completely revamp the game, they should have at the very least been open and honest with people that one game was ending and another one was beginning. Close down the current game, with plenty of notice, and give people a free months time in the new one. Even if SOE chose to do the NGE, they could have been ethical about it, but they weren't. Now let's look at an option that would have been even more preferable to most players. Just stick with the original game system and fix the bugs and issues as promised. The whole idea that SOE had only 2 options: shut the game down, or do exactly what they did to everyone, is simply false. It's not an accurate reflection of reality at all. I agree with you 100%. If SOE would have done what Mr. Freeman suggested..we would all probably be happily playing EQ2 or Vanguard right now and looking forward to the Agency and the DC mmo. |

ITs is ALWAYS better to shut the game down rather than destroy a persistant world. Always. (IMO) |

Hmm ..maybe someone should post on the Bioware boards that a dude at SOE is spilling info on one of their games. Could be fun. |

Wouldnt SOE employees get in trouble from LA for leaking unannounced info? Just asking..I have no idea how that stuff works. |

In a meeting, they asked how they could get away with releasing such an unfinished product. Hey Fickus, thx for the response. Pardon my ignorance, but would you mind clarifying the difference between "fighclubbing" and earning the rank legitimately? I'm just not sure what you mean. Also, if I remember right, the FRS was out of the game long before the NGE, is that correct?
Basically, you just got a bunch of Jedi from the opposite faction( or BH's), and they let you kill them till you get rank. Then you let them kill you. The amount of XP needed to get master and the rate at which XP decayed pretty much required every person on the server to be a jedi pvp'ing in the FRS every night lol. There was just no possible way to do it if i remember correctly..it was just too much XP and it decayed too fast. Its been along time though so Im sure someone else could explain it alot better. And yes..the FRS went bye-bye with the CU. |

When the FRS was still in game, you could "fightclub" to get the rank of Master. There was no way to do it legitamately. |
