SWG preNGE

Darkfall - if that game would have had:

- player housing with decoration and cities, both built where players want them.

- some sort of skill or attribute cap, spell school restrictions.

- better gear outlook customisation

I would have sticked with DF over 18 months. Only game where the open world reminded me about SWG despite the scifi/fantacy setting difference.

No, you don't.

Betas are not a demo / trial! Do you see the analogy between try and trial? There is no such analogy between try and beta and that is for a reason.

Pre-ordering / pre-purchasing is for people who are entirely sure they want to have something. If you just want to try, play the free demo / trial which will be there at least after launch.

If you don't admit that offering beta acces as a bonus for preorder doesn't feel like paid beta, you make me think you live in denial.

Of cause we can go to court and see your terms are correct, I pressume, but "if it walks like a duck, sounds like a duck, what is it?" Majority of us feels like it was paid beta.

Yes I do. And as a bonus for prepurchasing the game they promised access to beta weekend which they weren't delivering when I made the post.

First, you sound like a spoiled brat.

Second, It is kinda sad and frustrating. But they promised "access" to the beta, which is what you have. Unfortunately crashes are a part of what comes with this type of stress testing. The servers will come back up.

Lastly, you're part of the problem. People getting pissed that ArenaNet is charging people for early access. Did you buy the game because you wanted the game or did you buy the game because you wanted early access?

Honestly I do know I sound like spoiled brat, it comes when you say your mind clear, usually people don't do that good for them.

Secondly I dont think it is all about crashes. In Europe end all servers are so packed that they can't handle the extra population and thats incompetence in A-nets end. After all they had time to plan this and controll it.

Lastly I actually prepurchased the game because of a beta Access, which I'm not getting. If early access would not have been part of the deal I would have waited.

And for bonus info, I dont mind bugs in game, I mind not getting in at all.

Here we go again...

Come on fanbois and justified minds tell me it's ok because it's beta and they can't have a ready product yet.

We all know they fxxked up this one. Just admit it and I'm satisfied :)

I spend my coin to be able to access Guild Wars2 beta weekend event.

Arena.net you need to figure it out fast because I dont think I'm alone in here frustrated about your inablility to complete operation...

I have been kicked out 3 times now.

Been stuck in log in room with my 2 different chars for 2 different servers 6 times.

Been in stuck that black screen after my initial storyline finishes 3 times.

So I have been restarting my computer for GW2 jamming it during the first 2 hours for 9 times and I haven't even been maniacly putting pressure on getting in the game.

But, I was promised access in beta for prepurchase!

They should have sold out digital edition(access the beta) a lot earlier.

Sigh!

For now, for the Ultimate Sandbox, play Darkfall,

then wait it out for Archage, besides that, sandbox is a quite dark path. Its a nitch style, and doesnt get to much attention.

R.I.P - SWG

I don't think DF is a true Sandbox game. It is a skill based yes but some of important Sandbox elements are missing. It would need more player freedom building cities, players houses, crows, mines, where players want not predetermined places. Houses should be more decorable. Cities and villages and even player houses should give a controll area which would produce higher amount of materia and other bonuses for their controllers. Armors and clothes should be dyeble and you should be able to wear some garments above armor. There is more but that was a fast cap of my 2 cents...

Also R.I.P. pre cu SWG

It's not a sandbox because it doesn't fit your extremely narrow description of a sandbox? Name one sandbox game that lets you do all the thing syou asked for. SWG was the only one I can think of. So you can't name that one.

My clan just returned to darkfall and we're having a great time. The population is scarce, but we have brought in over 30 players this week alone with more on the way.

Ok you feel my description of Sandbox is extremely narrow. I'd say my list of things that should be in Sandbox game is pretty wide thats why Darkfall isn't "true Sandbox" in my opinion. It has: huge open world, skillbased system etc but it needs more sand in its box. Mortal Online is much more Sandboxy than Darkfall, even with its shitty old school UI, and especially after Awakenings patch hits in (in a year or two : ).  And what is this nonsense that I can't name SWG as Sandbox because you did it before me?

I get the feeling you get irritated because I criticise DF. I played it over 18 months and had a blast+ton of fun with it. But I can still look at it pretty objectively and say it lacks huge amount of important Sandbox elements.

World of Tanks is a great game for getting in fastplay, thrill and excitement.

It is also very much liked by many PvEers who usually can't stand PvP.

Hello mate, IMO the only sandbox worth playing is EVE.

I have tried so many over the years and none of them are any good. I just played Mortal Online for a few days, Awful Awful game.

Sorry I can't help you, the game you are looking for sounds good. :)

I just started Mortal online for 2-3 weeks ago. The rough old school UI + hardish learning curve made MO difficult to approach. I could play about an hour or two per day for the first week before frustration arrived.

Then I got over the UI and actually made decisions what direction I want to develop my character and it got a lot more interesting. Actually it was my 3 characters: 1 fighter(mage), 2nd miner and 3rd crafter and switching between those characters and their roles I found a lot of fun too.

I'd like to hear why kanester thinks it's awfull awfull game. I'd give it a shot :)

I got about a week into Mortal Online, and then I quit, the UI is awful, and the gameplay feels real clunky...I am looking for something a bit more recent feeling.  If i wanted to play an old game, I could simply go play SWGemu.

They are preparing Awakening patch which is supposed to overhaul UI + other major features in Mortal Online. We'll see how that comes out, sadly small indie companies seem to take ages to bring these to daylight...

Ugh permadeath... say goodbye to PvP because this game will hardly have any. Gank-tastic.

do u even have the work to read a lilte about the game before posting?

only the incredible stupid and careless players will suffer permadeath. what is a good thing.

What's to prevent this town Prince from simply calling the Blood Hunts on tons of people just to be a richard? Imagine if the Goons take over the game...

I think it is interesting to guess how fast this prince can be thrown out of the office? And then face the consecuenses of his actions to the newly elected Prince...

No, I didn't read any of the links, OP lacked any kind of summary and mentioned permadeath out of context. But atleast I got the right side of things in replies. Still didn't need to read the links tho.

No summary I'll give you, but phrase " player elected leader with permadeath rights " out of context or not, is informative enough to make a conclusion that permadeath isn't most likely all over the place.

Not a fan of vampires, thanks to my wife and daughters love for all things Twilight lol.  But I take it with perma death this is another FFA PvP sandbox?

This quote is the only info I have and I dont play EVE:

"McDonough said World of Darkness will be based along the lines of EVE, as it will be more of a player-controlled “sandbox” with “essentially no rules” but at the same time it will be accessible and inviting to the non-hardcore. Still, it will be a very bloody game, and violent making it a very mature game. "

Hi all!

I spent my 55 coins on digital preorder. I played semi casually about a month and a half to get to lvl 50 and had a blast!

Now one night out with my friends cost me those 55coins and more.

2 singing classes cost me those 55 coins.

I buy 1.5 times take away for me and my wife with those 55 coins.

To actually play hours every evening for month and a half with 55 coins is well worth the money imo. I do not feel that I was tricked or fooled by Bioware.

Did I want swtor to be a thempark - no, but I think it was very well done themepark game and even quite polished at launch for MMORPG standards.

Was I happy the end game lacked content - no, but what game has had tons of end game content at launch, feels people are comparing the end game in swtor to the games that have allready had years to create it.

Sadly in every themepark in the endgame I end up sitting in queue for pvp-instas.... swtor, rift, wow, WAR, AoC... maybe it's time for Sandbox games and here's my wish list for Sandbox :)

I think your game sounds great.

For me the perfect game is close to yours.

It would be just like Darkfall, but with a large developer that can take care of the small details better, A skill cap and stat cap that's easily changeable. If I want strength today, then I have to sacrifice stamina or wisdom, or maybe 2 of 5 stats. To me this would lead to builds of the month, and I like that strategy component.

Plus, my favorite fun part of the game is the sea battles, but they need a much much lower cost for ships

They also need way more PvE and harder MoBs and areas in the game that range from easy to so hard most people think it's impossible and complain that it should be simplified.

They have player crafted gear as tops, houses, and the houses have some small meaning, I like the world, the water, almost everything about the design of the game. I think they ruined the game because they couldn't deliver on side things.

Any modern game should have built in voice and a clean and customizable UI. It should have more tools for clans, battle groups, or some other UI type chat/voice amenities. It should be more like getting on Xbox/PS3 in the way that it's just easy to understand and navigate, but like the PC in the number of options.

Sandbox means to me that the players develop the world as much as possible. I don't think there's any black and white just grades of gray. Right now Eve, Darkfall, MO and those type are more sandy because you're not guided toward battles and you can take and keep fortresses.

I might use a wrong expression here but Darkfall felt to me like Fantasy MMO. Roleplaying in a sense of character progression was there yes but there it stopped for me.

I wanted to see player building his house to the spot he wishes. Then meets a guy who builds his house next to it. In few moths there would have been a small town. They chose their location because there was good defendable mountains that gave protection in north and a river which gave a great fishing bonus for them as the river was part of small terratory, area their houses gave them "controll" over.

I allways felt that DF devs made a mistake leaving opposing spell school limitations and skillcap out of launch. Then they jumped through hoops and loops to cover their mistake, letting everyone master everything, by trying to controll combat roles with choise of armor.

Some how i feel allied cities should have been adjecent to each other to force more terratorial combat. Now all alliances had a city in every continent so ther was no chance for that. Would have been nice to see borders moving while the war progresses now it was just all colors from the pallet thrown all over the map. They also could have addes material bonuses for controlling good wood land and mine rich hills as again part of terratory not just inside a city.

Feels like I'd have more to say but now got to go :)

Hi all!

- Skill based.

- No forced classes. Possible prem-builds for helping out some. But certainly a cap for the amount of points that could be distributed to prevent players to be masters of everything.

- The difference between a veteran and beginner should be a lot closer than in most games. A veteran should be killable for 4-5 beginners. So more towards player skill based than simple best gear dominates.

- Loot based on what you have killed -> no gold coins from bears stomach.

- Players make the best gear in world. Gathering material for quality crafting needs a skillfull player who has searched and studied from where and what the best material is aguired from. + player build mines, grows, blacksmiths etc. Ok 1:1000 drop ratio for random epic-artifacts-armors-weapons, but, to prevent camping, from not predetermed hard mobs.

- Player housing/villages/towns/castles, player lead factions with taxes/politics/controll areas which would be adjecent to other own factions areas with guard towers and clear borders to make open world war changing the map and the story of Empires(factions).

- Elections inside factions.

- Bounty on top ten faction leaders heads for other factions + bonuses if they stay alive long.. You know they used to capture nobles few hundred years back in battlefield and common men rarely dared to touch Nobles. These son's of Lords and Dukes were returned to their own side in exhance for gold. In mmorpg I think just extra reward for killing them would fullfill the idea. And if they were elected as leaders they could resieve minor buff which would crow slightly (the reward as well) as long as they stay alive. You could think of it as another objective in Faction war

- Collective markets between faction towns.  This is basicly AH shared between same faction members, could be usable for neutrels as well with a little tax.

- Religions which determine guidelines for enemies and allies. Living lawfully and enforcing these rules would grant blessings for individuals and everyone worshipping the religion Simplified example you have a god Winter and wolves. Worshipping this god would open up new skill for it's templars and spells for it's priests. More you'd attack ie evil creatures higher your affiliation for this religion would crow and your spell and skill would be more effective with risen "religious commitment". This would get interesting if a religion would work inside a faction and factions and religions interest would cross... I see politics and civil war approaching :)

- FFA playerkilling with and aligment punishment for inside faction/religion player/npc killing. it is very important that everyone can kill everyone. But you'd suffer the consecuences for doing so among your own faction religion. Players keeping up order in world is favorable, I'd still go for few safe hubs in world.

- Semi fullloot for player kills, players could secure let say 5 most important gear pieces they have. Put your money in bank or be ready to loose it :)  When you have killed you mobs, looted them and collected few pearls. Your travel back to home town to bank is a lot less boring when you actually have to watch behind your back for robbers and opposite faction members who would gladly take your fat backbag and enjoy it's content. I just think loosing everything makes a game too marginal. Thats why I feel players should be able to secure certain number of items that they will not loose while they are killed.

I'd maybe prefer gritty closer to realism fantacy setting but anything with these lines would go :)

You had UO until elections, but after that the list gets weird.

Here's a little further explanation. We might not share same opinion in taste of games but I can hardly see my ideas weird.
