Yeah, right.

You disputing this post ?  Lol, you have to agreed becuase this is the truth, so stop whinning about bugs, all games have them.  At least I havent heard of an account being hacked in VG , at least not yet.

VG FTW.

Actually, yes, I think I will dispute this post !  Where are the links to the data that supports the OP position that these are *current* problems with WoW users.  Or that these are problems caused by WoW itself, and not by other (player) usage issues.

I am sure if I had posted something of this sort on V:SoH problems, without substantiation, you V:SoH supporters would be all over me for posting unsubstantiated drivel.  However, when one of you VanBoiz posts obviously Trollish Drivel, you are all over praising it and giving him attaboiz.

What a buncha hypocrites.  Try applying your own standards to yourselves before flaming others.  Especially folks that are trying to help innocent players NOT make the same mistakes you have made; and so adamently refuse to admit or acknowledge.

Last Post on this Topic.
Fire away.

WoW 's home site, forums, support.   That is where these came from.  I said in the thread it was from WoW support forums, easy enough to check.  And the about the 7th support issues listed had 3/21/07 in the title.  That would lead one to think they are current issues.   This whole thread is to show that all games have issues and bugs that go on for years sometimes.  Even with those issues WoW has millions of subs, so those calling for the fall of VG because some experience bugs is silly.  I have experience very few bugs in VG.  Some have experience enough to cancel their account.  I am sure some have cancel they accounts in other games for bugs.  I know if my account got hacked into I would proably quit that game as well.

And your "without substantiation" statement makes no sense.  I told you exactly where these come from, I am not hiding anything, these are true post.   And at least I play VG and post in the VG forums unlike some, who post and trash VG without playing the game.

The truth will set you free Shoal!!!   And this is Anti-Trollish Drivel thank you.

Oh yeah, I think this is the wrong forum sorry.  These are todays post in the WoW support fourm not VG.  My Bad.

Someways I guess VG and WoW are the same, but I think playing VG is more fun personally.

No offence im really glad the OP is having fun in his game of choice because that is what he has decided to pay for playing. He is also very lucky and fortunate to either have not experienced the game breaking issues many many others have or indeed he has the ability to play past them. That is indeed a true dedication.

However this game IS NOT without its SERIOUS issues currently, and before you buy a retail package i would STRONGLY reccomend trying the game out on a buddy key or trial if possible. It would also be worth taking a look at the OFFICIAL technical support forums where current PAYING SUBSCRIBERS to the game are trying to gather assistance for issues.

The technical support forum activity is a substantial factor in the argument that this product still has a long way to go before it can be considered by the AVERAGE gamer a trouble free play experience, ABOVE AND BEYOND the normal glitches expected of an MMORPG product.

Mag

Dude, 30 complaints, some potenially for the same users and others just critcisms with over 100k subs, and it is has only just passed the second month.  I personelly havent had one of the problems mentioned above.   Serious issues would imply that it effects a majority of the people playing, which is not the case.  Most who play without incident but post.  So of course you see all the people that have issues posting.  And VG wasnt not meant for the average gamer, it was said from the start that it is for hardcore players.  With the correct hardware VG is a great game indeed.  It is funny that people will trash a game because THEY have preformance issues, while others arent having a problem.  I play MMORPG to play with others not solo, although it is a myth that there is no soloing in VG, so I am defending against falsehoods and statements with the only propose is to turn people away from VG.  Not help people work with configurations to make the game better but the statements like "DONT TRY THIS GAME" or  "THIS GAME IS A POS".

If VG genre is the one you like, you should without a doubt try the game, you might like it as I do, or you might not as some others dont.  But I am not going to tell you not to try it.  Anyone who is truthrully tring to help other games wouldnt say "Dont Try It".  They might say it wasnt the game for them, so never be influenced out of tring a game in the genre you like, that has a soild fanbase just because someone here says not it.   And if the $50 is a big beal to spend, well then you proably have other RL issues you need to attended to instead of wasting time in a MMORPG.  Again all this is in MHO.

It will never surpass WoW for subscribers (not that WoW is an MMORPG), but it will surpass it as the next generation online fantasy world for a mature audience. Meanwhile all the whingers who have nothing good to say about the game, may I say how happy I will be if you no longer continue to play.

"At least my CPU won't be burning a hole in its ass loading your waste of a character onto my screen!!!"

Hahahaha.

I am sorry, I just had to. Vanguard a next gen mmorpg ? You do realize that wow and vanguard are nearly the same ?

Oh? ...is WoW a persistant world? Yup Can you make many different kinds of boats and ships in WoW? Nope, and was never designed too. Can you buy plots and build on them in WoW ?nope, and was never designed too. Can you own a flying mount and fly anywhere you see at will ? AFAIK you cannot do that in VG ATM. Does WoW have diplomacy? Yes but wow does not disguise it as a kiddies card game, we pick up a sword and earn our favour through killing. How deep is the crafting and harvesting aspects of WoW ? Agree, very weak. Can you see over 9km in WoW ? Nope, and why would I want too? Does WoW have 19 playable races? Has 10 races, but I dont call a human body with a fox head a race. Or a human with darker skin and funny eyes a new race. What is the faction system like in WoW? the more you kill and do quests for a faction the more friendly you become with them and the more stuff will open up.

All I remember from my beta days in WoW is that I could make " choo choo " sounds and the whole game looks like a saturday morning cartoon. And this doesent? gawd look at that uwful use of bumpmapping. I like WoW's wit and ease of play...but Vanguard has numerous features over WoW. Now that Sigil is stomping out the bugs left and right....AND ...still adding new content weekly You mean adding in the stuff that was planned to be in retail... they are playing catch up nothing more....VG will be a major player here in a few months. Not likely with WoW populations...but dominant in the mmorpg arena. Dream on.

Play Vanguard ! The game that sucks less than the rest ! no!

Come on join us, VG sux, Join us.

Hey blue text guy, lol you just proved his point.  Is VG the same as WoW,  no it wasnt designed to be.

*  There is NO computer you can buy today that will run V:SoH on even medium qualitiy settings at consistent good frame-rate.

*  Even on a $5000 system, on Highest Performance, you will still run into sub-15 fps rates at the most inoportune times (like when other characters are around, or you are in a town).

*  The game is in a horrible state.  Think Anarchy-Online at release with a *slightly* higher framerate.  CDT bugs, Rollback bugs, Inventory bugs, Quest bugs, all abound.  It is a mess.

*  It is being worked on, but that is really not a good thing.  V:SoH is a good six months to a year from being ready for Release.  What you will be paying $50 +  $15mo is the chance to Beta the game for the next 6 to 12 months.  Do you really want to do that?

I really recommend that you find a different game to play; LotRO maybe.  At least until the work is complete on V:SoH.  Then get a trial (there will be plenty), and try it out.  For now, trying to fix V:SoH with Hardware is just not possible.

Good Luck

Intel Duo 6600

2 gig corsair RAM

8800 gs Nvidia  (sometimes a little choppy, 7950 I have heard works good also)

4 125giga 7200 WD drives in two raid arrays

DVD player/burner

Case w/ 750 watt PS

Window XP home edition sp2

$1900 (us) at tigar direct after rebates.   I play and never get under 20fps , most of the time I am at 80-110fps.

So... after a few more days (and I am not playing this particularly intensely - just an hour or two here and there) I can add a few more thoughts -

1) I love the fact you can get a cheap horse at level 10... a nice early landmark, a nice sense of achievement. I hate the fact that the second a mob aggros me the horse disappears. What's with that? Also, my horse's jump is competely stilted... it sort of jerks up in a 'jump position' and I rise. There is no fluidity.

2) Early grouping has left me thinking... gak - I have been here before! There is a quest called "tainted" something which seems to be the instance-style group quest of choice for level 10-15 characters, in Kojo (or whatever my zone is called). You are teleported to an area with 4 sub-areas (you are teleported to each of those also)... in each area, which is like a box surrounded by walls, you just have to clear all the mobs, twice (huh? I cleared, and now I have to clear again?), then kill a boss. This is in NO WAY epic. Seriously, what a bore.

The fact that I effectively have to do this - to comply with the grouping philosphy , and subsequent rewards, of this game - rather than go off exploring on my lonesome or in a pair - to discover this great world in interesting ways - is very uninspiring. Look, I love groups, but just clearing four confined areas twice each is in no way an interesting activity.

Even more boring, the tank died, at one point, and could not come back in. Ya wha? Something about a locked instance, What garbage. We had to start again for him to continue. All over again.

I was one of two druids, which are designed as dps spellcasters but have a couple of heals. Well, for whatever reason in this fight both of us were dpsing away, we had no other healer, we forget to toss in a heal at the right moment and the tank dies. Meh, well, so we should have been more alert but not the end of the world right? Dust off and continue? No way! We have to abandon the quest and start again... and recriminations fly.

Now, I am certainly not going to judge a game on one encounter, but what struck me is that because this is essentially - in adventuring at least - the SAME GAME as EVERY OTHER MMO - people immediately forgot they were exploring something new, and started behaving like bored min/max level cap players in their old game. How depressing. Yet, I confess feeling similar.. this being such a similar game in terms of play mechanics (so far, and it is early days, but it seems clear enough anyway), well.. I guess I also (while not saying anything, as it is not really a big deal) feel a little irritated by people messing up in obvious ways. I have been here before, in other words, many many times. It is boring.

3) So.. off I toddle after this joyous experience to some location where I have been sent - an asylum - where I wonder if I can play a little solo. Well, it turns out the mobs are too high for me, so no... no huge deal, except looking at the asylum - here are essentially a bunch of mobs just standing still waiting for me to pull them one by one, in order to collect the 7 whatchuma flips that the quest giver wants.

This is 3rd gen? I am afraid not. It simply is not.

This is 1st gen, with nicer graphics and a few more knobs and twiddles.

To me 2nd gen was WOW - scripted encounters, where interesting things happen, people crack jokes at you, things appear to transform, and mobs are wandering around doing interesting things.

In 3rd Gen I am looking for a substantial increase in immersion and gameplay... a significantly enhanced experience. Sad to say, the 'VISION' seems to have translated - from my experience so far - into a step backwards.

3) This has been said before, but everything is a little too... um.. clean. Where is the grit and detritus of a lived in active world. The big bridge in my starting zone is completely antisceptic. Not even a bird has ever pooped here. Clearly, when I am not looking, a gang of slaves is constantly scrubbing everthing to a spotless sheen. Wish I could see em .. that would be interesting. As of now, trouble is, I do not believe in this bridge. It has no history; it has no life. This world has almost no life.

4) I am chopping down trees, but for what? I don't really know.. no-one needs my wood; least, I have not met anyone who does. There should be a lumber yard where I can hand it in or something. Full of sneering lumberjacks drinking ale on their time off.

ALL THIS SAID>>>>

I will continue playing some more, because I DO like the prospect of exploring this generally pretty environment. I am hoping that things will become more interesting in terms of my toon's life plot.

But the fact that players 10 levels in are already acting out the same kind of frustrations as they did presumably on the 13th run through LBRS in WoW is a really, really worrying development . It speaks to me that this sense of 'wonder', the sense of 'hey - this is cool' is simply not there. I have not met anyone yet who said 'hey, this is cool. Or.. phew... that was fun!' So far, it seems, even combat in City of Heroes/Villains was much more dynamic intense and fun... At least the mobs there shouted insults at you. And did strange things that made them seem alive.

Bleh... so sad given how much money and effort they must have spent on this. I really wish them luck, and will play a little more for sure. But if nothing changes substantially, I will not be one of the golden converts to regular subscription. Argh! Now I have to wait for Age of Conan or Warhammer! Do I have to slake my MMO thirst in the meantime with LOTRO? ugh... no pvp.. choices choices

What game are you playing , I think you are in the wrong forum bro.  In VG I solo often and have for all of my 32 levels, and duo is great EXP.  Not sure what the instance comment was about, or the box/walls thing.  Seriously,  you are not describing VG I play.

Yes lets all go to tentonhammer and silkyvenom where we can get one sided opinions from Sigil and Vanguard fanboys at least here there are opinions from both sides of the spectrum.

That was not exactly the brightest statement I have seen here today.

You obviously have not looked at those boards for weeks or even months.

I looked at both of them a few days ago and saw dozens of "Go back to WoW noob" posts on both of them. At least the vanboys at mmorpg.com have more to say than that...

Go back to WOW noob, ok now you have seen it here as well.

LOL,  there is very little honest and accurate anything in these forums.   Try it if you are curious.  If $50 is a burden to spend, then you proably shouldn't be playing any online game that requires payment.  You should be looking into advancing you RL fiscal status instead of worring about an online game one P.  I like VG and play it regularly.  I gave it a 7.8 rating.

I like item repair, I like death penalty and I like VG.  Remove those and I should just play EQ.

Death should have a HUGE price.  Items used over time should decay, I acutally perfer the old SWG way, where eventually you have to replace the item.   Please dont cave in to the "DUMB DOWN" crowd.  If a toon dies, than they make a miscaculation or mistake, it should hurt.   If I spend 3 hours in a dungeon using the same weapon and armor it should need to be repaired.  That is the VG that 200k people have bought, please dont change game play midstream as SOE is known to do.

All the servers were at medium last night, is that not enough to keep the game profitable?

Vanguard is going good for me.  There are bugs, although I have seen very few of them but I did have a client crash last night. Hopefully that issue has been fixed in this patch.  I like the game play (combat), the harvesting and the diplomacy mini card game.   Some dont like it, but I do.  It is currently the game I find myself playing each night that I get to play online now.   The population on my server has increased from what I have seen in the city areas,  which is a contrast to alot of the people here saying after the free month populations would decrease, but I have no hard numbers to support that, just in game observations.

I would give it a try, but a heads up my pc is as follows:

Intel DUO 6600

2 gig ram

4 125gig 7200 rpm HDs in 2 raid arrays

8800 nivida

XP sp2

And I run most of the time on the 2nd highest graphic setting.  VG takes abunch of resources.  I guess I am a Vanbio now, I built this PC just to play VG, lol.  Although some others have had good proformance in VG with lesser hardware.

I do recommend this game to fans of the genre and I rated it 7.8 on the MMORPG ratings.

Also the crafting system is intense to say the least, but I havent done much of that at all yet. ( Bio Engineer, Master Chef - SWG )

31 lvl bard, 126 lvl Diplomate, 302 harvesting skins, 212 miner.

What specs would you use if you goal was to build a PC to play VG with highest settings on?

Current Rig

2 giga ram

6800 nvidia ( newish card for me, DDR3 )

Pent 4 2.4ghz

It's going to be hard to guess without a budget in mind. If you have unlimited cash to spend on it, get the best there is. How much are you looking to spend?

2000-3000 American dollars.  The best can be a matter of opinoin.  Sometimes the rated best graphics card might not run a game as good as a lesser rated one, and so on.  Just looking for people that are running at peak and their current config.
