I have been wondering how class are in WarHammer.   Are there any sandbox abilities or are you locked in to a talent tree like WoW?

Can you build your own toon or do you have to be a certain class like Healer only, or Melee only?

*sniff* I miss old SWG P.

Ok, so there have server's that are just pay to play with no Item Mall, I like that idea.  I found VCO a very entertaining game, but the item mall got old fast.

This game is a pay to play version of VCO right.  No item mall stuff for real cash.

I am just wondering

What End Game do you guys think would be cool for a game to have.

I understand some would say no end game.   Well what would the players do.  Even in a sandbox enviroment, you could skill up everything so end game would be after all skills are maxed.

PvP for guild cities and rank maybe?   Collecting rare items/loot.   Nice House/City/Guild Hall ?

Just wondering others saw as a good end game.

Me, I would say PvP for control of cities or bases.   And the cities/base would have to give advantages to its owner.  Maybe even a collection of cities owned by a guild could be grouped to make small countires, lol.

With the wealth building and player based economy/Housing.   I love the crafting so inter-dependence is a must for me. I also like item wear P.  I guess that is my crafter side coming out.  This would make crafters and interaction more a part of end game activities.   Again this is my opinion.  Interested to see others thoughts and opinions.

Of course becaue WOW is the only real sandbox game.

Your character in the end game IS the sandbox.

The rest is prehistoric rambling of old age MMORPG's.

Ok, WOW is a sandbox game

Now...  change your Warrior to a bloodmage.   Even a Warrior/Bloodmage hybird?

frick, and that would have proven your point to me,

IMHO, sandbox is the ability to work on any ability for any player at any time.

2.) Hmm I am lvl54 now and havent seen a lack of content.  I fully expect by the time majority of the players are even close to max level, content will be fine and dandy.  Please if you would, list the other MMO's that had all of the end game content in play at lanuch?  I cant think of one P.  Although early on some did have issues with strictly quest leveling, but you can always group and gain exps for levels faster then EQ.

3.) Hmm,  Knockdown, stuns, roots, instance nukes vs heavy hitting nukes, fire vs electric (for me Demo).  Come at me just pushing buttons with no strat and you will be at the respawn soon. This game has more strats for combat than most other MMOs I can remember, like old SWG , with KD, Stuns, snares and roots, and for my necro friends, dots and pets. It is big fun for me.

Bottom line, play then post please.  Garbage like this quoted post show trolling at its finest.   No knowledge of the game, just crash it with unfact filled random blurbs.  The force is weak with that one P.

And why exactly do you assume I didn't play the game? Your childish attitude doesn't help the OP or anyone else.

I have the right for opinions. I posted what I thought about the game. But hey why trust me? There are more competent people than me talking about AoC failure.

Go read this. Then we'll talk..

because your facts are incorrect, so if you did play you're are very unobservant.   It is a FACT not opinion that you do not have to stay on the path but  you can explore the woods and hills.  Not knowing this basic fact, lead me to believe you havent played.  I have played games where you couldnt leave the path, this isnt one of them.

AoC will likely fail because

1. The World is too restrictive: each of the hunderds instances is a cell (some very small), movement is restrictive - just follow the path. So immersion suffers because the world feels like mosaics made of many separate zones and instances.

2. The game is not finished, missing content at higher levels and lack of end game makes it hard to enjoy the game after the first week. Funcom will resolve this eventually but by that time Warhammer will be out..

3. Combat mechanic, while interesting at first, doesn't live up to expectations when you group. It seems to chaotic and mindless and without any strategy.

it is fun ,  check it out.  A buddy key is always nice to try a game first.   But because so many people are playing now they arent avialable yet.    Once the servers populations settle down or they add more again, they will be available, so I have read.   I rated this game 8.3, and I would have to disagree with the above post, as a lvl51 Demonlogist, after I left the starting area at lvl20, the game is about 10x the fun, of course this is IMHO.   Good luck on the buddy key =).

edit:

You see the issue is that there is so much in your post that is plain wrong. Wow as I said was a very varied game with even better crafting and even better gameplay. The world is big and seemless and there is so much to explore in the beginning weeks of playing. Plus levelling was slower.

Your argument "socialism is death" doesn't explain anything. No argumentation about it. No clarification how you can derive this point.

Also your look at pvp'ers as angstfilled teenagers is crap. PvP is about competition and challenges. Killing X number of mobs is not a challenge. It is boring. When you meet players who dont (usually ;-)) suffer from bad AI, then they meet you in a different way.

Also you mention AoC but excuse all the shortcomings of the game and the company behind it, without taking into account how much they FAILED at making the game new and refreshing.

In DaoC one could REALLY fight over keeps and it would have been easy to implement incentives for real pvp. AoC was released with zero pvp incentive, filled with bugs becuase they didnt allow testers access to it before release, the game is stale with zones of player cities in instances no one ever need or want to visit... there is no showing off your city to other players and there is no random fights happening there, no integration with the game world.

Also Funcom completely fails with communication; deletes petitions ad libitum and generally do not address players' concerns.

So when you come here and post this incoherent nonsense, I can only say... yes the drug shows. But get the facts straight! Please!

Happy day :-)

Draccan

You left out  in your opinion about 5 times in this post, lol .   And IMHO your opinion sucks P.

This is the reply from Gamestop, Target and Walmart stores in my area.   I was talking to a friend at work about this game, so he wanted to give it a shot.   We went to 2 targets, a walmart and 2 gamestops, all were sold out of Age of Conan and we waiting for more copies to arrive. So..  the haters who dont play keep talking and more people keep buying the game an actually playing.    That is what the real public option is about.    I get full server login wait still at times on tyrannt server.

Rofl, IMHO this is a very good game, of course it has some bugs, what game doesn't.  But again IMHO, this is going to be a huge game (already has one of the largest sub bases now), there is so much potential and the PvP is a blast.  It will all come down to if  Funcom can deliver with the patches like they said, and so far I have looked forward to their patches as opposed to other games where you would shutter at the thought...

Played: Eq,Eq2,SWG,EVE,WoW,SoR,VoC,AO,DAoC....

You are right I just checked the poll it is only 78% that are happy not 80%.  Most want to see the state of the game improved, and I am one of them.  But, I am happy with the purchase and fortunate to not have seen abunch of the bugs people talk about.   Lvl 41 Demo,  Tyrannt  PvP.

I agree 100% with OP!

Conan is a game, kind of 'online action game'. But its not a MMO at all!

If u dont care about it and dont mind to spend 15 US$ every month in a game with 4829384023 bugs and a 'cloudy future', have fun and go ahead!

Guess what? I was so pissed about this game that i decided to spend more money and i bought a digital copy of Vanguard. So far, im in love with it... its a  improved WoW  in a sandbox mode. Just what i was looking for...

Wow explain that many bugs,  and why I havent seen them?   And cloudy future is a concern but you went to VG, rofl.

Fanboy (sometimes spelled fanboi) is a term used to describe an individual who is devoted to a single subject in a fanatical manner, or to a single point of view within that subject, often to the point where it is considered an obsession. Fanboys remain loyal to their particular obsession.

So anyone that could posibly like this game is a fanboy, lol.  I have a word for you

Troll:  Someone who creates meaningless post that are not even on the topic of the thread.

I would agree with the OP in this, if you dont meat specs dont buy this game and except it to work without issues.

AoC is a very good game,IMO.  I dont understand why is would matter if the game is a success or failure of you arent going to play?  Again we come to the true nature of your post,  TROLL!!  go back under your bridge.

I have experienced this on two different servers, so I guess the true public opinion has been stated there.  I am enjoying the game, I havent hit lvl40 yet (lvl35 Demo,  as lots of lvl80 did, I did not use any expoits so leveling isnt as fast as some cheaters!!) so I havent seen the lack of content or any of the bug issues, except for some feats not working, which is a big deal just not a show stopper for me at my level.   I play PvP most of the time, and dont really see why AoC is caughting so much flack.   It is a very fun game and lots of quest and missions,  I never have a problem getting a group, which is an issue in some games I have played.   Overall IMHO, this is a very good MMO, pre-CU and CU swg I liked better, but other than that, I cant think of a MMO I have liked more.  At least here there are lots of people playing and you can do more damage by paying attention.  if you are an afker it is very noticable here.  I gave Aoc an Overall 8.3 rating.

But I guess thats true... Broken Traders and Spellweaving disabled from certain classes is defently not for everyone

AOC is one of the most shallow games to be released as MMO game ever.  And the few parts that make it abit deeper and challenging are broken....

the Force is weak with this one...

Shallow? Explain that one, lol.   The game is a week old and has a strong fan base even here, where we all know the trolls live.   AA's werent available when EQ1 launched but now the are a very important part of the game.   A  list of up coming additions, ie. traders.. and fixing one spell for one class (Spellweaving -- ToS class) is hardly a big issue, even with the ToS peeps I have talked to in game.   I havent even started crafting yet, but I know there are like 8 different types of crafts, I have been to LP and seen trainers.  You have player cities and food/drink buffs and mail system and a decent storyline.

Just wondering which game are you comparing AoC to that makes it appear shallow.  I guess a better question is when are you going to actually play the game, ROFL!! because you obviously havent yet.

PS.  Get off the island, 10-15 hours of play time at most for me, then post about content and features.   That is the least you can be after a $50 investment in the game P.   This is MHO.

Who said it was the best launch ever ?  It is differently one of the best launches I have ever seen, but the best , I am not sure on that one.  I surely didnt say it was the best.  And btw Toyota BLUE is the best BLUE ever !!!!

The AOC launch for me was one of the best experiences with a new game that I have ever seen.

PC-Specs

Duo 6600 -

GTX 8800 -

2 Giga Ram -

Raid array 350 giga -

I played Vanguard's launch,  please this doesnt even compare.  I played EQ2 launch , AOC is 50 times better at launch, IMHO.   The game in its current state is better than many MMO's that have been on the market for years.   Now LoTR had a good launch, although I didnt like the game =(. But it had a good kick off, again IMHO.

Just starting week 2 in AOC, and yes once you finish the night missions you can leave the Island.

After that it is hunt and kill in groups no quest needed (you can do this also in the island, it just doesnt help you leaving. Except helping you get the levels you need to get some night missons).  However you do have an Epic quest at lvl30  and 50, maybe again higher not sure.

Last night I was in Conali Village (sp) grouping with a Bear Shaman, ToS and me (Demonologist) it was a blast.  We did get 3 missions that were done in the zone for the extra exp and gear.  But really we were just killing stuff.  I play on a PvP server and I love that part of the game.  Just remember groups deflect alot of PvP attacks =).

All in All I would give the game an 8 or maybe abit higher.  There are still alot of things to come , banks, traders (auction house), etc.. that arent active yet, but the NPC's are in game now for when it is turned on.

I do understand that if  AoC is giving you problems that this could be the "worst launch ever" in your opinion.  But alot of people arent having issues, this is appearent from the full server message I got last night.  I was queued for about 5 minutes ish, (4:30 to be exact).  So lots are in game now. They add 8 or so servers after launch, that is the sign of a health game indeed.  Unlike vanguard which cut servers after launch P.

SO....  just because you have an issue doesnt mean this is the WORST LAUNCH EVER, if just means that in your opinion it is .

As for the long list of post where people are having issues, check other popular MMO's they are pages of Tech issues also, even the might WoW still has bunches of tech related post where people are having issues.   When over a million people pre-order you are going to have lots on both sides.   I am just glad I can play the game and have fun doing it.  Cheers !!

Anyone know another way to get your minimap to redisplay after it mysteriously disappears?  Other that a total restart of the game?

Also any word on whether they will ever give us the ability to keymap ?

Or maybe have quest NPC show up on the map ?

I have ask and looked thru the town and cant find the 'Iron Shop'.  Geez , game are suppose to be fun , lol

IMHO, if you have ever played other MMO's I just dont see have you could possible enjoy this game.  I mean you left click the select items and to move ?  That has to be an oversite for sure, I have played a few clicky move games before , and all use right click to move and left click to target.  But hey that is not the case here.

Perhaps if I hadnt wasited 1 or 2 hours getting the game setup, bunches of people having login errors, I was able to just uninstall and then reinstall the game to fix mine P, but lol is that really a fix ?   UNINSTALL is proable the best fix here =).

but again IMHO, try it if you like the idea, maybe you wont be as disappointed as I am P.
