I have to say that they new improved Water effects are quite nice for a Game Engine this old. |

Originally posted by coxyroxy And no one here is comparing FFXIV to WoW. Nice way to derail the thread. I ended canceling my subscription, people like to point out the UI but to me it was more than that. * The inability to write a complete sentence because you are given a limited amount of characters (one might able to write an entire book in Kanji on the amount of space they give, but one can barely write a sentence in English) * The inability to create new chat channels, tabs, change colours, lack of filtering (you can filter almost everything but not all) * Unable to search for a specific item in the Market Ward. I understand they are changing the wards by giving different names and suggesting what should be sold there (the main word is suggesting, a person with a retainer doesn't have to follow SE suggestions at what should be sold on the Woodcutters Ward) * For a game the emphasizes on Player Crafting the social tools are severely lacking. If I want to have something made, I either was countless hours searching the market wards, player bazaars or shouting to see if anyone can make me a simple item like Iron Nails. If there were a Trading Channel this wouldn't be a problem. * The lag even on remote areas is still annoying, specially if you are a caster class. Switching from Active to Passive mode (or vice versa) is unresponsive at times. Like I'm running and I pressed to go back to Passive mode but it only took effect almost 30 seconds later. People that say the Lag will get better when folks spread around the areas and in levels are fooling themselves. Lag is present everywhere. * The inability to do more quests after your initial 8 is to say the least annoying. If they want people to level horizontally that much, they could have made 8 levequests per Class and not overall. Instead folks resort to Grinding on mobs in obscure corners/caves and get overly aggressive when someone shows up.
These are just some of my issues with the game and of course what might not be might cup of tea doesn't mean others won't enjoy the game. |

The server might be closed to new character creations since its currently full. Check the Lodestone to see which servers are open and those that are closed. |

Even with all the misunderstandings, in the end I have no problem with it. The amount of Turbine Points one gets for completing deeds (15 points per deed completed), gives you more than enough TPs to buy all the SoA content. |

Kinda bummed but its not the end of the world, since one can earn enough Turbine Points with Deeds to buy all the Quest packs for all SoA zones. |

Originally posted by Smikis I'm assuming that you really didn't play NA release of WoW. Even though I enjoy WoW tremendously and played it on and off since its release and have Cataclysm pre-ordered, WoW release was a nightmare. The server queues at least for Lothar (the server my guild chose to play in) was around 30 to 45 minutes for the first 2-4 weeks. Getting stuck while looting where you couldn't do anything else because you were not only stuck in the kneeling animation but you were also waiting for the server to give you the items you looted. You couldn't do anything, the only way to fix it was to log out and log back in...which of course people dreaded doing that since we had the bloody queues to deal with. I also assume you didn't enjoy the several days of server outages while Blizzard constantly tried to track down their Database/Server problems. Just by looking at my account I got several days of free game time from Blizz when WoW was first released. Also the excuse of people taking the most populated server is idiotic, ALL servers when WoW was first released had Queues and were overpopulated. Now, even despite all of WoWs problems at release, the game was A LOT of fun to play, it was quirky and charming. Even though people don't enjoy WoWs graphics, I find it Art direction wonderful. But like I said, lets not delude ourselfs in thinking WoW was perfect when it was released late 2004. Regarding FF14, I find the game charming and it actually made me interested, so I pre-ordered the game. I know it has tons of problems and some of them are just downright annoying. For example, what's up with the chat system? If there's a way to create new tabs, I haven't found it yet. Having to use a patch or a program like Windower to play the game in a proper borderless Windowed, having also that same program to give me a hardware mouse and keep an eye out for the game client since it likes to set itself in Low Priority on my computer, making the game sluggish!? I'm hoping SE will fix these problems but for now I'll still be there on launch day. |

Has there been any indication when Beta NDA will be lifted?
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 8/31/10 11:50:44 AM
Originally posted by artemisentr4 Beta has started already with a small number of Testers. I'm guessing they will only lift their NDA closer to Spring/Summer of Next year, which is when the games is "supposed" to be released according to Bioware/EA.
EDIT: BTW there are some websites with some leaked screenshots and videos of Beta. Just google it around, since we can't post it here on MMORPG.com (against the rules) |

"Extended" version and Echoes of Faydwer.
The Tavern (General) « Everquest II 8/21/10 1:37:50 PM
You have access to the content but not the races or most classes if you don't buy the Race Packs and/or subscribe to the Gold Membership for the other Classes.
EDIT: BTW if I'm not mistaken you get access up to ToS but not Sentinel's of Fate (unless you own a copy of SoF) |

Anyone else suffer from videogame purchase addiction?
General Gaming « General Discussion 8/19/10 11:38:45 AM
I don't think that me and my better half consider ourselves addicts regarding the purchase of games. We are collectors of games, we don't really purchase Digital Copies (I think the only Digital Copies that we have, might be a few PSOne Classics that were released on PSN). And yes we don't really have the time to play much of what we have, I personally have finished around 10 games this year and to be honest it would take me several lifetimes to probably finish all of the games we currently have. Here's a small sample of what we currently own.

It looked very nice. If this is their first Space Combat iteration at release, then I can only imagine if they decide to open Space Combat even further by giving you more freedom and perhaps the ability to roam the galaxy (non rails) in the future. Very excited about this title. |

EverQuest II: Free To Play Service Coming Mid-August
News Discussion « General Discussion 7/28/10 10:55:15 PM
Originally posted by just1opinion But you do have to admit that over time people will slowly leave the game for greener pastures, don't you? This leads to how can the old servers capture new players? RaF simply won't cut it. My only concern regarding the F2P is how SOE just decided to close the Trial on P2P servers and instead channel new players to the F2P experience instead of the 14 day trial. I personally think that 14 days to try a game is more than enough to make up someone's mind if they really want to invest in a game or not. Personally, I would've prefered if they had just created F2P servers that any EQ2 Classic subscriber could access to it (without having to pay for EQ2X as well), also allowing F2P subscriber folks the chance to see on their list the old servers so that we might entice them, they wouldn't be able to transfer their characters from a F2P to a P2P server but at least it would give folks that started with EQ2X, a chance to move on to EQ2 more easily instead of having to worry about 2 subscriptions and which one to cancel. In end my concern is not so much about F2P or P2P but how will the old EQ2 be able to get new players, because folks that might invest on their character in a F2P won't be willing to cancel EQ2X sub and move to EQ2 if the process isn't simple enough or if there aren't good incentives. TL;TR, in short they could've just added the F2P servers to the same list as the older servers and apply the same restrictions they apply to the Exchange servers regarding character transfers. |

EverQuest II: Free To Play Service Coming Mid-August
News Discussion « General Discussion 7/28/10 11:02:08 AM
Originally posted by Kazara Character transfers are one way only from P2P to F2P Servers, which basically means the death of EQ2 Classic as we know it. People are all happy and giddy that they don't have to play with F2P players, but the reality is much grim. SOE is removing the Trial from EQ2 Classic, which means no more NEW players to try EQ2 Classic, the only thing they will keep is RAF, but honestly who will go around Forums asking for a RaF key and wait when they can just quickly create an account and log on to EQ2X? EQ2 Classic will surely die now. There will be no bleedover unto the old servers and people that play on EQ2X will no want to start over on the old servers since they don't allow character transfers. |
