As TB said if this were anyone else but Blizzard, most would be up in arms. The torch weilders would have burnt down the other companies HQ by now and impaled the survivors on their Pitchforks..

Oh Joy, another "leaked release date" thread. Where is it leaked from, by who? Its not leaked at all, its invented.

Ever heard of photoshop?

Retailers use PLACEHOLDER DATES when they dont know the real release date, because their system needs to have a release date for preorders generally.

No date is accurate until ANet confirms it.

That is all.

Lighten up a little, it was an article someone saw it and decided to share it, it's not the end of the world, and it's just speculation. There's no harm in that.

There is zero chance this date is accurate.. ZERO.

September, maybe November is my quess considering what still needs to be done.

Didn't a photo showcase a few Jerseys with these numbers on them in the A-net office some time ago? Could have sworn they said 28-6-12. Anyway it's a coinkydink if nothing else.

This. Also it is not a scam. Most people buy Diablo games to complete them 100 times.

I know, pretty weird when you think about it.  I mean doing the exact same thing over and over, good thing MMORPG's aren't anything like that.

Good thing the average MMO takes more than 20 hours a play-through.

@OP I think everyone understands the philosophy of hack and slash games. Most I'm sure are aware of the random nature of content as well as dungeon layouts. The problem is this design is ancient at this point, not to say people should stop making them, but I think it's telling why many do not charge top rate premium prices for these games anymore. TL2 is 20 bucks as an example.

You say not to compare it to Skyrim or others, why not? It's the same price... It's not about the game offering a few different difficulties and random content, it's that one play-through should IMO at least take 60 hours to warrant the price of admission. By most accounts it won't offer anywhere close.

Keep in mind this isn't rage I'm expressing, just looking at what you get for the asking price and I don't feel you get enough.

Skyrim is amazing game well worth its asking price. But what makes you think Diablo is any less ?

WIth WvW server populations will be of great importance so I hope they think about this type of thing.

This has got to be one of the dumbest things I have ever seen a company say to the public.

Anyone that played D2 should know this.

That's the main issue, most of these kids never played D2.

They like to act like they did though.

+1 to that

LOL @ this series of posts. The issue isn't not knowing what an arpg is about, it's that the game is overpriced compared to it's competition. Just LOL

You guys are silly. All this talk about only 12 hours of game play and the need to tell us your glad you didn't waste your money.....what else can you do for 12 hours that's lots of fun for 60 bucks? Even Disneyland costs more for a day of fun and this game you can keep playing after 12 hours. Seriously people are silly on forums.

I'm just going to assume you didn't put a whole hell of a lot of effort or thought into this question.

I guess you could say D3 is the iPhone of the ARPG genre, TL2 is the Windows phone 7 and POE is Android, atleast you know with D3 what you will get works and is polished, the others might offer a little more but you'll need to work for it and what they do offer probably wont be as polished or user friendly as D3.

I'm sure as far as the bells and whistles go D3 is superior, I was just hoping this old dog ( ARPG's) would pick up some new tricks along the way.

My guess is that OP powerballed through everything. He's a self-proclaimed Diablo / Dungeon crawler head so he's pretty advance at how to crawl mindless through stuff. I can't see you actually exploring through the entire realm. Collecting the lore books and all that achivement stuff.

Thing about Diablo has always been about running through on harder difficulties so I disagree with you there OP. You run though the difficulties and while trying to get the phattest gear you can for your toon. If you honestly did that all within 12 hours then more power to you, but more than likely that isn't so.

I'm not saying that it is not at all possible to run through the game in 12 hours, but there's no way you are truly going to cover the breath of the game in that amount of time. You should probably take a little more time to enjoy the game imo, but maybe speedballing is your crack.. again no problem with that..

Just that your opinion is probably not that of the average to high-end Diablo player may experience. There's always Hardcore setting. You could do that and run thru by yourself and tell us how long it took you to complete on Insane.. LoL

How's that sound?

Does this really work in this day and age though? Where's the substance, where's the options? What took so damn long to deliver another repeat content grinder? Be it a 12 hour campaign or a 20 hour, it just doesn't sound like there's a whole lot to justify $60 and over a decade of waiting. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems you can get more out of something like TL2 or POE at least for the asking price.

Over 10 years of waiting for 12 hours of game-play? That's just...just..well... it's something!

I am near the end of Act 2, got to find some guys blood and I have spend just shy of 11 hours (one character), so theres more than 12 hours, it depends how you play.  Looks like I'll get about 20 hours out of my first play through, then I have co-op and additional difficulties to further level up and get abilities.

I guess 20 hours is a little better, how is the co-op, same campaign or do they change it up in MP?

Thanks for the replies folks, some good information here.

I don't know, I played TSW beta last weekend and yesterday I was so excited to play Guild Wars 2 stresstess, but I kept thinking of TSW and couldn't even stand 30 mins of Guild Wars 2's quests.

funny i had the exact opposite feeling.. i wished TSW would incorporate more world DE's would make the game so much more fun..

But, have you ever thought about the point of the dynamic events? I didn't feel intrigued about them, whereas TSW makes you want to know what the quest is all about especially the investigative ones. But, Guild Wars 2 does still have better PVP that is what I am buying GW2 for and not for its PVE.

I played through most of kingsmouth and most tiered quest basically end up being kill x quests. For instance the one you kill the "named" mobs all over the map is basically just running all over to kill one guy. Then the one you go to the beach to kill those ugliys the next tier kill 4 more of these other guys who are right next to the ones you just killed , next tier kill 4 more and so on. Many many quests in TSW are like this, some aren't and there are lots of fun ones like using the differn't ammo such as landmines to blowup zombies but overall I had a ton more fun running around and joining DE's in GW2 than i did running around kingsmouth.. I also found no one in TSW wanted to group much but had not a single issue joining up and fighting in groups in GW2 right away.. GW2 is just put together more in a way to encourage people to play together.. TSW i soloed almost all of kingsmouth and didn't even see a reason to group up expect for the instance

oh and TSW pvp from what I have played is pretty awful.. also some MAJOR imbalances with certain builds but guess that's expected with so many options, Rift has this issue with the soul builds and I'm sure this game will suffer from the same problems.

Every quest in any game is going to boil down to kill this, pick up that, touch this, move that. It's your presentation and the way in which you incorporate the players imagination that counts. DE's are essentially (when bareboned) kill this infestation, bring back the apples. It's how they've included the infestation that matters. Just like in Skyrim it's how they present go kill the bad-guys, it's your reasoning for killing those bad-guys that matters. IN TSW it's the intrigue of following the plot just like a typical hidden object, solve the puzzle adventure game which is where TSW seems to borrow from in a lot of ways. Given teh Game director that comes as no surprise.

I've seen a a lot of chatter on the use of filling multiple roles in GW2, but one thing I've not heard much at all about is counter roles in PVP. I'm going to use examples familiar to myself as I wasn't a huge fan of GW1 so I'm not fully aware of the nuances used in A-nets systems. I've seen it compared to Magic a lot, which I am just as oblivious to (never played).

Now say a caster is specialized in Fire magic, is there a way to build up a resistance to that roles dominant trait? Say another is a firearms specialist dealing kinetic damage, is there a way to build a resistance to that? I'm not asking in terms of gear, it could also come from skill aqusition. Are these types of options available in GW2? Like say a thief could build himself to be a solid counter to a Necro?

I hope this queston at least makes sense in regard to GW2

Another question is does damage type make any difference in GW2, say SWG style where there were different types of damages each with a corresponding resistance?

With the way it seems many ranged attacks have cone damage as well as the ability to freely fire into groups, I just wonder how easy it's going to be for ranged specialists to stand back and fire at those locked in melee combat and completely devastate them. This is a problem in a lot of games recently a very annoying problem.

Elikal in regards to the first negative you mentioned in your Impressions Video, the Overflow Server is there to prevent server queues from forming up. But I think that most people would agree that the Overflow needs to be tweaked so it cannot separate party members from each other.

Although, I must say that I agree on just about everything you've said (save for the squishiness of elementalists).

It was just absolutely frustrating to come to a point where you could not team with your friends in the game, without logging in and out for 20 minutes hoping the game would by random chance put you together. I just expect a MMO *must* have some solution to allow you to "click this button get together with your friends in the same zone NOW". That's really the only negative to me that mattered. And I am totally baffled an otherwise mindful company like ANet actually overlooked this issue.

Also lack of regional chat kinda sadens me. It's not a kill criteria, but definitely a big letdown that you just can't ask people in your region or have a chat.

Well if you look at what they're doing with it, as it's really a reaction to another more widespread issue (not being able to play at all). The loss of the ability to find firends for a short time is a pretty fair compromise IMO. Granted they may fix the "friend" issue later. I think in the confines of it's purpose "overflow" it's a damn fine idea.
