Diablo 3: Preparations Didn't Go Far Enough
News Discussion « General Discussion 5/17/12 12:52:57 PM
As TB said if this were anyone else but Blizzard, most would be up in arms. The torch weilders would have burnt down the other companies HQ by now and impaled the survivors on their Pitchforks.. |

@OP I think everyone understands the philosophy of hack and slash games. Most I'm sure are aware of the random nature of content as well as dungeon layouts. The problem is this design is ancient at this point, not to say people should stop making them, but I think it's telling why many do not charge top rate premium prices for these games anymore. TL2 is 20 bucks as an example. You say not to compare it to Skyrim or others, why not? It's the same price... It's not about the game offering a few different difficulties and random content, it's that one play-through should IMO at least take 60 hours to warrant the price of admission. By most accounts it won't offer anywhere close. Keep in mind this isn't rage I'm expressing, just looking at what you get for the asking price and I don't feel you get enough. |

"SWTOR Not a Priority for Development"

This has got to be one of the dumbest things I have ever seen a company say to the public. |

Originally posted by expresso I'm sure as far as the bells and whistles go D3 is superior, I was just hoping this old dog ( ARPG's) would pick up some new tricks along the way. |

Originally posted by Opapanax Does this really work in this day and age though? Where's the substance, where's the options? What took so damn long to deliver another repeat content grinder? Be it a 12 hour campaign or a 20 hour, it just doesn't sound like there's a whole lot to justify $60 and over a decade of waiting. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems you can get more out of something like TL2 or POE at least for the asking price. |

Originally posted by expresso I guess 20 hours is a little better, how is the co-op, same campaign or do they change it up in MP? |

Over 10 years of waiting for 12 hours of game-play? That's just...just..well... it's something! |

Bold Prediction - The Secret World Will Be Game of The Year.
General Discussion « The Secret World 5/15/12 1:08:52 PM
Originally posted by Aerowyn Every quest in any game is going to boil down to kill this, pick up that, touch this, move that. It's your presentation and the way in which you incorporate the players imagination that counts. DE's are essentially (when bareboned) kill this infestation, bring back the apples. It's how they've included the infestation that matters. Just like in Skyrim it's how they present go kill the bad-guys, it's your reasoning for killing those bad-guys that matters. IN TSW it's the intrigue of following the plot just like a typical hidden object, solve the puzzle adventure game which is where TSW seems to borrow from in a lot of ways. Given teh Game director that comes as no surprise. |

Roles/Counter roles... A question for those doing nothing but WvW
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 5/15/12 12:53:03 PM
I've seen a a lot of chatter on the use of filling multiple roles in GW2, but one thing I've not heard much at all about is counter roles in PVP. I'm going to use examples familiar to myself as I wasn't a huge fan of GW1 so I'm not fully aware of the nuances used in A-nets systems. I've seen it compared to Magic a lot, which I am just as oblivious to (never played). Now say a caster is specialized in Fire magic, is there a way to build up a resistance to that roles dominant trait? Say another is a firearms specialist dealing kinetic damage, is there a way to build a resistance to that? I'm not asking in terms of gear, it could also come from skill aqusition. Are these types of options available in GW2? Like say a thief could build himself to be a solid counter to a Necro? I hope this queston at least makes sense in regard to GW2 Another question is does damage type make any difference in GW2, say SWG style where there were different types of damages each with a corresponding resistance?

With the way it seems many ranged attacks have cone damage as well as the ability to freely fire into groups, I just wonder how easy it's going to be for ranged specialists to stand back and fire at those locked in melee combat and completely devastate them. This is a problem in a lot of games recently a very annoying problem. |

Beta Impression: Now with Audio
Beta Weekend Event Reviews & Impressions « Guild Wars 2 5/15/12 11:14:13 AM
Originally posted by Elikal Well if you look at what they're doing with it, as it's really a reaction to another more widespread issue (not being able to play at all). The loss of the ability to find firends for a short time is a pretty fair compromise IMO. Granted they may fix the "friend" issue later. I think in the confines of it's purpose "overflow" it's a damn fine idea. |
