Sigh... I am right there withyou man. Nothing I do seems to advance me. Adventuring feels like work, crafting is frustrating at best and dipping is soooo boring and overly difficult in the nooby areas. I just cant have fun no matter how hard I try.
Only reason I bought this pos is because AoC got delayed. Cal |

Questions from a perspective buyer
General Discussion « Vanguard: Saga of Heroes 2/02/07 7:39:43 PM
Originally posted by parrotpholkI will add a lil. 1) The graphics leave much to be desired on high or highest performance. However on the high graphics settings you get like 5-15 FPS. On the low settings things look like pifall from Atari. Very blocky and very hohum. Same windmill same tree every other 10 feet. 2) Ditto the character creation if laughable at best. Like parrot said 4 faces and 4 hair dos. Lots of differant classes and races but still they all look the same within the races. 3) Questing definatly more exp however after lvl 10 most of the quests (90%) are group only. 4) VERY slow progression, I often play for hours without any real sense of accomplishment. The crafting exp goes VERY slow as does the "adventuring" exp wich you cant tell is going anywhere because there are no numbers to see as far as exp. Its just a gold bar that hardly ever moves. 5) Basicly Diplomacy is the only differance. The combat is very grindy feeling and frankly leaves you kinda scratching your head. And I will add #6. This game was just plainly and admitadly by the devs released early and is not finished many of the games aspects have yet to be added and they are changing things daily. There are MANY many many many bugs to be worked out and frankly it is in bad shape in that area. I wish I had waited a few months before I bothered. Perhaps in 3-6 months the game will be playable but at this point your only asking for a headache if you play this. Only reason I bought and tryed this game is because DaoC was delayed until Oct. XP changes ruled out casual players now
General Discussion « Vanguard: Saga of Heroes 2/02/07 11:53:39 AM
I can confirm some of Ops thoughts.
Crafting was definatly changed bigtime. They even said so in the last patch. I logged in and suddenly I could not make things that I could make the day before. They stated quit clearly they wanted to slow the progress of crafters. Secondly "adventuring" exp has definatly been slowed as well. It was a horrible grind to begin with. Between lvls 8 and 10 I think i killed at least 500-600 mobs to get those lvls. It was not fun to say the least. There were notes in patch about decrease in exp but its not like you can tell in game because there are not numbers involved in expp just the gold bar that moves about a milimeter if at all after killing a mob. I said this before but if there were actual numbers involved at least you could make some sort of calculations as to what you have to kill and how many so some kind of planning could go into it. Without numbers going up it feels like you do not accomplish anything at all. I was in a group the other night and there was 4 of us all lvl 10 and we were killing lvl 12-15 mobs and I thought my exp bar was broken thats how slow it was moving. It was laughable I finaly gave up after the 200th mob and I didnt see my bar move. Frankly its easier to get exp by your self. So much for the group based aspect of the game. Besides most of the "dungeons" that are group based are mostly totaly bugged and or broken. When you try to zone in half the party gets teleported to one spot and half to another and it is basicly a waste of time. We tryed to do riftseekers and it was laughable. It kept zoning us out side then back in half the party at a time. It was impossible and not to mention the mobs respawn so fast you cant get the party back together with all leaving and trying again. We gave up and moved on. This game is a grind in every way immaginable. Cal |

Its a 6745MB DL lol. took me about 4 hours with a cable connection. I have heard of dial up people (poor souls) DLing for 24+ hours.
Frankly you should save yourself the head ache. The game was released admitably by the devs way early as they ran out of money. Paying for beta of yet another MMO isnt worth it. I have been trying to play it but I wont play past the 30 they give you free as there are waaaaay too many bugs and the combat system and graphics are laughable at best. Try it in like 6 months and maybe there will be a playable fun game. Cal |

I have a similar setup to you and I wish I hadnt bought the game. On highest performance wich is the only way to get FPS above 8 it looks like pitfall from Atari back when I was 8. DEFINATLY wait for some sort of free trial.

Why was vangaurd released if it's not done
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 1/31/07 5:41:19 PM
Listen the OP is right period. This game is bug ridden, more bugs than an Orkin commercial even. I have been playing it since friday and almost every single thing I have done i have encountered bugs. Broken missions, broken buttons, mobs that disapear while your fighting them but they can still hit you, Broken doors, When you zone you NEVER know where your going to wind up, when you zone you never know if your going to come out on the other side wearing just your underwear, Over powered mobs, Numerous diplomacy bugs, numerous crafting bugs, broken work orders. The bug list is retardedly long for a game that was this hyped.
Those that say that this is not a grind game are also nuts. Between levels 8-10 I killed arroximatly 400 mobs. I dont know about you but spending 5-6 hours doing nothing but killing the same mobs over and over counts as a grind to me. Not to mention there isnt a number involved with exp, theres just a bar that very slowly fills up as you kill. At least if there were numbers involved you could make a few calculations as to what you have to kill and how many so some kind of ryme or reason could be added into the equation. Also I have the game set to "highest Performance" as this is the only way to get FPS above like 10. On this setting the game looks like some old Atari games I used to play when I was 8. Before you say it, I know it must be my POS comp not this unfinished game right? The shout channel is nothing but people whining about this is broke that is broke why did sigil release this game in this stage. Now with those things said, It does look like it could in a year or twos time be a very nice game. the diplomacy and crafting look promising however they are just not working properly. Combat is an utter failer and is completly broken at this time. Combat is neither fun nor productive. At least it doesnt feel productive in the sense that after killing so many mobs your hands hurt your exp bar has barley moved. I sure you can count on this game to frankly just be another hohum release that goes nowhere. I was pulling for this game and didnt beleive the beta testers that were saying it was in bad shape but I now see not only were they right but sigil and soe should have listened to them. I could have been a great game but it just is not finished and people will not buy and pay to play a broken game. I have played almost every single MMO that has ever been released and have watched so many sold in this condition with devs and vanbois touting how it is going to be AWSUME in six months just pay your monthly sub and keep you mouth shut. Im sorry but too many people are wise to this stratagy and wont have the wool pulled over thier eyes anymore. 2-3 years ago sure you could BS a community into this but way too many players have wised up. WHAT THE F*%# DID DDO DO TO MY COMPUTER!?
The Rusty Nail (General) « D&D Online 1/25/07 7:23:52 PM
After installing the game for the very first time after purchase I had a complete system failer and had to reinstall windows. There was a bug in the game that over wrote some important windows files. It has since been fixed. You must have bought the extra special edition.
