Nope.

During the games build and beta, people did argue for more "survival".

But everything but Ammo crafting was whined down by the melee crowd.

Tho they did use the excuse "keepin it real" when it came to ammo... Never could get em to use the same excuse for water, food, healin... Ya know, the things that affected everyone and not just the ones that didn't want to play a sword and clubs game.

Well, Perfect World, before it had a international version, was said to have 30 million players in Asia, mostly in China.

If we step outside our bubble, we'd see that WoW and western games are smallfry in the asian market.

Heck, if we're speaking numbers... Look at Facebook games. Many of em have large number of players. Some that are as simple as click a button 13 times a day have over 500.000 players a day log in and click those buttons. Others more "complex" has millions of active players (And they don't even come in chinese/asian versions).

And heck, EA has even gone and bought one of the facebook game developers for quite a nice sum.

So I don't have a problem seeing "different" numbers than what we would call normal in the markets that are not the usual Western MMORPG's.

Why I Quit FE

Calling it a WoW clone might be waaaaaay out there in Lalaland, but I'm sad that FE wasnt your cup of tea.

I hope you find what you look for.

Hmm, not quite top notch textures on the soldier armor and weapon there.

More like something you would expect from a closeupshot from a RTS a few years back, or a MMO even more years back.

Low resolution, little to no detail, jagged lines, no shading... and less..more.

If I didn't know better, I would have guessed it to be a never released armor and weapon from release version of Anarchy Online.

Quite not up to snuff to what they used to show us before there was a beta of SGW even... (And the beta gfx.. well it was more similar to you being shown a lamborgini while waiting to get your "car", but once in to drive said "car" you got a Yugo instead).

A good respectable list from Jon.

I would have selected different on a few, but I'm not the one writing.

No respec sounds harsh, but if you have too many it causes real issues. About one a month is right and it should be quested for.

They do say they are working on some sort of respec feature:

• Respec: We will probably have some manner of very limited respec options in the future. What would like to help the people who spend a few points wrong and want to fix those mistakes, not folks who want to rebuild their whole character. The specifics are still up in the air, but it will be expensive, slow, and limited.> http://forums.fallenearth.com/fallenearth/showthread.php?t=23799

Overall I personaly don't feel it's harsh not having respec, I don't know character limit per player, but already know you can have 3 characters atleast, also it's a MMORPG, you don't have to reach lvl cap asap, take your time, get to know the game before jumping on the ride to cap lvl, perhaps you make a few mistakes, learn from them and make another toon that's better, but keep exploring with your main. But I do know many players who do want respec, I would even say probebly the majority of people into this genre.

I'm actually looking forward to respecs.

I'd rather be able to explore different "roads" with my main than begin a altaholics game. Kinda like SWG did it. No being locked in one mode of play, but able to change as you change. Most people I play with prefer to grow attached to one character, instead of having an army of alts... In my gaming circle, alt armies kinda unattaches you from the game and the ""world". It becomes more of "just a game" than a "virtual world" when you're either set in stone or have to use a alt army.

Ofcourse, there is no denying that respecs WILL be missused by FOTM players, but should really one segment of the playerbase deny the fun for the rest?

So, I'm looking forward to respecs, because I like my one character and I don't care what the FOTM'oholic does today or tomorrow.. While I play for years, that kinda player has bailed out to the next big thing to FOTM anyway...

Chased by a guy on ATV?

Aaaaw, you shoulda shot the ATV, he woulda backed down then hehe

FE is the kinda game where if you see something in the distance, not near a highlights or settlements on the map... Probably you should head out and see what you can find.

I did that in Alpha, and found many intriguing places... Places I have now forgotten, so I have to start watching the horizon again, looking for interesting things to get to.

It sets a presedence(or however it is spelled, I'm Norwegian, sue me!), for dime and nickle you  for content that the subscription is supposed to. pay for.

Great example of this is SOE and SWG's cardloot. Offering content that the players have been dying to get for years...Only to those that pay extra.

So, for Blizzard to spend countless hours on developing a webshop... It's not just to sell you a pet or two... It's the first step of getting into your wallet and have you pay for the content you're supposed to get in your subscription.

But hey, call it QQ'ing as much as you want. When the day comes and you have to "microtransact"  yourself to get content... Don't start QQ'ing.. Cuz we told ya so.

Have to look at where you are too... Grand Canyon?

Maybe we'll see more if they build towards Las Vegas :P

If the world was a MMORPG, I would have wanted it to be a sandbox.

If the game offers excelent character creation, that allow me to make "my" character and not a clone....

If the game offers excelent clothes choices, and not classbased or tierbased few armorsets and thats it...

If the game offers skills and free building of characters, and not classlocked...

Then I stick with one character, and love it.

But, since there's not many games like that, the games I play, I end up using more database space for the developer than I really need to, or wish to.

the things in my post still arnt fixed so yes the list is unchanged

andto the other poster,,if you dont scribe, you cant post on the official forums  so this is one place to keep getting the word out about FE.

Uhm, the official forums are split in 2...

Subscription and non subscription.

Finally a MMORPG where you can play that american padded handball game that they claim is a world sport.

:P

They closed it down, for never to be heard of again.

I watched it last night.. and if THAT was SG:W? Um.. it was pretty crappy... >.>  I really, really hope that isn't an indication of what the playable game would be, or rather, would have been?

As for the show itself, I had lots of problems with it, a clone of BSG only one of many.

*sighs*

Expect crappier if they ever get anything out the door. The beta was....horrible.

What we saw in SGU was nothing near what the beta showed. Even the GFX was different.

Never has and never will.

As far as respec goes, i don't think there should be one to respec, i know people like to min max their characters but who cares if one is slightly less powerful than another.  There are character planners out there that will help you plan you build level by level if you are that worried about gimping a character.   if a respec option is added it needs to be some long drawn out process to do so and can only do it once.

People said the same about SWG, yet it was one of the most loved features of SWG.

It wasn't the min maxers that used it the most, but the regular players. The ability to keep your character throughout a games lifetime, rebuilding him to your playstyle as you change or explore other playstyles, is way stronger than playing the "alt" game.

Yes, min maxers and "FOTM" people will be using it, but, why punish everyone to play the alt game, because the few would be trying to be the FOTM?

I don't think they should allow respecs, the problem with that would be that everyone would level up as crafter type and when they cap out at max level switch to whatever pvp/combat spec they like with all their gears made, may be an unfair advantage, or if they do allow respecs maybe allow one at level 20 or make it very difficult to get.

Crafting is "real time"...

So not only do you have to wait for crafts to be done, but also have to go harvest a crapload of resources to build what you need to level up.

So it would be very time consuming to level up with crafting compared to regular play. Fine for a crafter type, but a combat type that tried to level up by crafting to "exploit" respeccing? He'd be going back to combat before he had gained 3 levels :p
