In general it's pretty even across the board. And if you figure at least 300K (A lot more I am sure but just to pick a number) these votes only equal 1% of the total votes. ...so far. Go WAR!

I made a request in the hopes that someone might take it to heart either in the OB or at release.

Nothing more.

Okay, I know it might be a bit much to ask (it isn't really but in general it tends to be) but I would ask some of the folks who absolutely MUST rule in scenarios to go a little easier on new folks.

I was in the same Scenario repeatedly on day 1 of the PW. I already knew the scenario from being in the CB last week. A lot of new folks who didn't know also joined. Khaine's Discipline is a hard one to get for new folks. Let's face it. Grab both flags, easy right? Not when Khaine levees his Discipline. People want to know why 'God' kills them.

Then we have the 'OMG. This is the worst we've ever done' and ' Geez. WTF you people don't F'ing...etc'. Okay those folks knew exactly what they were doing the first time they ever entered a Scenario. They are UBER. No Question. But please be a bit more polite to newcomers. Stop running around for a minute and explain. Folks WILL get it and that ends up helping everyone in the long/short runs. All on the same side, right?

Also, especially in the early (1st Tier) scenario, you get a lot of new players who jump in based on a quest they get early on. At least 3 times I ran Khaines and I was the highest level at a whopping 7. All my team mates in those instances topped out at .........WOOHOO 4. Sure we got steamrolled. They were new, didn't have the skills the opposing side did (at least 4 of the Chaos team were 7 or 8 in level). What the heck do the UBER LEET players expect?

It was fun watching some of the same people queue up with me and after running it once or twice, getting the hang of it. Of having a healer stay back with me at the flag with maybe a tank to guard (I was running an SW). Of having people follow out to the edge of the blast radius and then figure how to run back up and tap the flag before Chaos did etc. When Casters figured how to tap an enemy at range to break them from getting our  local flag. FUN STUFF FOLKS! Enjoy it!

End Summary. Be polite and don't knock someone because they are new. Tomorrow, when they aren't so new, they may save your life.

If you don't like and know you won't like it with no reservation, then it's best take yourself out of the running.

For me, I find it rather amazing primarily because I never used to PvP and now I just can't get enough. Once I got my first character to 5 or 6 and jumped into my first Scenario (admittedly, I was lost when I did. I just started killing red guys figuring that was safe) I just could not get enough! Unless I have some quests that I have decided to cap first, I queue up ASAP and jump right in (I don't leave groups if I'm in a PQ, of course). I love it!

I was in the CE CB. I think the characters should be wiped, Eldars are fixing the issues we identified and I will be in the early start.

nanner, nanner, nanner back at you!

Ha Ha. Yeah. Yesterday with my 'You are first in contribution. Gain +400 to roll' and I ended up 13th in line with nothing. (Not that I minded, I really needed the INF).

In all honesty, this sort of thing evens out the score for folks that can't do as much. There will always be folks with 'better' gear 'hogging the show' so to speak. This more or less gives folks a chance to still 'win' if they contribute something.

They better have a miracle patch for the open beta.

Says the chronic naysayer. I see they added a bunch of stuff on the character creation screen that wasn't working before.

*Not all the servers in the list put up earlier are running, atm. Only 6 or 7 including one Oceanic. We'll see if they are added based on requirement/needs or if these are the ones for the OB/PW.

I was wondering the same thing along about 4AM as I poured my first cup of coffee down my gullet, looking with bleary eyes at a list of servers and message telling me 'Game is not available, please try again later.'

Truthfully I did not expect to see anything alive and functional at that hour. I surely wasn't. But it rarely hurts to try, right?

I figure along about the same time access to the CE CB went up a week ago, so about 12-1PM EST. That's ONLY a guess so don't quote me.

Mythic is in VA so it's about 6AM where they are now. I have no idea about the server dispersal, whether they are on site or located around the globe in strategically positioned operational centers. In general, I would say 'KICK THOSE BAD BOYS (and girls so I am not gender biased) OVER AND LET'S ROLL!!!!'. In specific, I would say let the folks at Mythic have their coffee (I'll even send a couple of gallons if it will help), let them rub their eyes,  wake up a bit (they are probably asleep t at the keyboard right now) and roll out once they wake up a bit more.

I rather enjoyed the way they implemented the quests in such as way as you are lead into the first couple of tiers. There's alwasy something to do and you don't feel lost (for the most part). One thing which was noteable was that I didn't see people doing a lot of 'Where XYZ mob?!?!?! OMG This SUXS. WTH I can't find NUTHING in this game!?!?!?'

(Okay maybe that was a bit  more than what I have come to expect from games but  it isn't TOO far off, heh)

Bottom line is that the chats were often pretty quiet aside from groups and scenarios. And the one or two times I asked a question, I got an answer. Was quite refreshing.

Nah, you have to contribute. Hell I came in one half way through a boss fight, tanked the rest of it and it told me I didnt contribute enough to the PQ to roll for loot.

On the flip side. I have been in PQ's from the verry start, had max INF, gotten first on the contributuion and placed 16th. (Not placing for loot seems to happen more often than not at least for me). IMO the random roll needs to be cut in half at least. It should be based more on your contribution than how lucky you are. This is probably my biggest issue with WAR so far. I am NOT  a lucky person and the PQ's are so much fun. But to do it for loot is utterly pointless for me.

Oh and one more thing. It seems the loot bags are in this order (green)minor loot bag, (white)minor loot bag, Enormous loot bag. Thats all I have seen anyway. I have placed first 7-8 times and only once did I see an enormous loot bag, most of them where green with a couple whites. So even when you do place first you still may not get the best loot bag (more often than not, even in one of the podcasts showing off a PQ loot bag Paul turned around and said "Cool, thats the first time I have seen that tier of loot pulled").

Ditto here on all counts including joining in on a boss at the tail end. I've been first in total contribution but placed in a non-loot position (usually more like 6-10th). The one time I pulled an Enormous, I was 2nd in contribution but with a 400 or 500 bonus to my score (the person who was first in  overall contribution was so pissed she actually quit the group. I felt bad because it was a fun coordinated group we had going. *shrug* Oh well.)

I am sure they put in the rolls to give folks who roll all the way through a PQ but don't have the skill set (newbies, for instance) but still do their best (i.e. taking a poke at a boss and killing a few  Stage 1s or 2s) a shot at pulling something nice an encouraging them. Also, there are always going to be 'ninja' killers who do their best to try to out-score everyone else at the expense of others to get all the loot all the time. The rolls eve  n out this affect and keep 'normal' playerrs from getting as discouraged.

It took me a couple of runs in a PQ to figure out  'contribution' and then a couple more to figure 'bonus rolls'. After that, I just shrugged when I didn't place high enough to get a bag and settled in to wait for reset.

One notable note for me was that while most of the items in the loot bag were 'unusual' crafting materials (or cash was always at the bottom of the list), I never saw a weapon or armor I couldn't use. From that I guessed that the loot bags will always give you something potentially 'usable' even if it's a bit less than what you have and choose not to implement. Anyone else get something they couldn't use?

I’ve seen some, but not much on this subject. Hopefully one of you beta testers could answer it. I believe I speak for most casual players when I say that we are the group of people who don’t want to “live” a game and have it totally encompass our lives, but just play to have fun. We don’t play 24/7, but fit our game time in after playing the much more interesting game called real life.

Anyway, is WAR the type of game where you don’t stand a chance unless you play until your eyes bleed for months on end in order to obtain the most uber leet gear so you can pwn the latest noobs? Or is it the type of game where someone who has a life can come into the game to have some fun PVP action and actually contribute to the battles going on?

If it’s the former, I won’t be a lasting subscriber. While I know there is a market for that type of game, it’s one I will not be playing. If it’s the later, they’ll have my money for many months to come.

I think one of the best aspects of the game is that you don't have to progress at all. Okay, maybe you should aim to get to level 7 or 8 at least but you can do that in an hour or two. Then you have these options: Today I feel like poking around with a quest or two; or Today I feel like doing some PvP/RvR. If it's the latter, you can run around to one of the easily accessible PQs (can be marked on map for you!), getting in queue for a Scenario (which all end after about 15 minutes if one side hasn't score the max points by then) or you can mosey on over yonder (not far, usually within a 2 minute run) to the local head to head open RvR going on. If you feel like PvE (primarily) just open you map. The quests are generally on the same map (unless they are a lead-in quest designed to bump you to the next set of maps.)

Gear? Well once you run a couple scenarios, you usually gain enough renown to get some good stuff (for the level) at the local RvR weapons/armor seller. If not, if you do a couple of the PvP quests you'll get enough to keep you going until you get a couple green drops. And any character (as long as they play) will add to the overall 'backbone' of their side. Winning the WAR. Sure having blue gear helps but if you look at a green and a blue, there isn't much difference.

To give an example, I had a Blue bow that some fellow was offering to sell (he had a sword-master) so i offered to buy. Once I had it, I got a 'green' bow as a renown reward (or maybe a regular quest, I don't remember) and the green ended up being +.1 DPS and .2 or .3+ to the speed. I only kept the 'blue' equipped because it had a small bonus (+6 or 7) to ballistics. As I was trying for max damage in the local Scenario the blue did a couple more points of damage. I could have done almost as much damage with the green and probably not even have noticed the difference. (The blue bow had been a lucky drop for the guy who sold it to me off some normal type mob, in case anyone was wondering).

Anyone can have fun in WAR if you like the game. That's the bottom line.

With a small nucleus team though, greater numbers can be beaten or at least denied the objective as the Beta was recent (and I doubt this will change). Of course folks have to work together and occasionally you are still going to die but thats 'taking one for the team', if you win in the end.

One thing I noticed a number of times (I was running Scenarios as fast as I could queue up) was that occasionally you could pull a 'green item' (stats) off a player's corpse. Were those just random drops that the game 'generated' or were they non-bound items folks were carrying? Anyone know? I died a few times but didn't note any lost items. That said, I never carried to many non-bound items around with me.

(I did find it highly amusing to use the scavenging skill on players' dead bodies and pull 'Blood Engorged Leeches' and whatnot out of the Chaos players I was helping to kill/defend against!)

I was shocked when I logged on here and saw this post was continuing from yesterday. Amazing.

You can PvE or you can PvP/RvR, which is it's heart. It will probably have something for all MMO'ers if you give it a try.

Personally I love it. I've always hated PvP but WAR did something (I haven't put my finger on what as of yet) that makes me love it. That however, won't make it better or worse to YOU. Try it for yourself. Make up your own minds.
