I requested a password reset 2xs to 2 diff accounts (email addresses). After an hour+ I just made a new account. That went right through. Would have liked to use my old AoC account but *shrug* |

Who else went out on a limb to support Funcom through Lifetime?
General Discussion « The Secret World 4/05/12 2:09:50 PM
Some words of wisdom.
The credit card processing goes through a Euro processing source. My credit card company flagged it as fraudulent (possibly). I called (my cc company) and approved it but the Funcom service didn't 'take' the payment even after I did. I had to go in, opt for 'other payment options' and add the same card in under a new name. Then no problems. Never was overly impressed with Funcoms payment options/website....
2 online chats with customer reps + maybe 15 minutes sorted it out.
Looking forward to the game. |

I think most of the previous posters weren't holding keyboarding as the ONLY way to go. Just trying to be helpful. That said, I really didn't care for the system. I got used to it easily enough and it wasn't enough to make me not want to play the game but it wasn't enjoyable. I didn't care for the fact that (it seemed) all the mobs/quest requirements (other than the lead in quests designed to bring you to a new zone) were almost in sight of the hubs you were fighting for. *shrug* As always some fans will rabidly defend it and some some on the other side will rabidly attack it. For me...it just wasn't something I liked. If it was a box price and no sub, I'd probably grab it but paying a standard sub for something I likely wouldn't play more than 1 or 2 times a month (if that) made no sense. |

The Secret World: The Freeform Progression System

Looking forward to this and more so after reading this article. Apparently not the for the 'easy' WoW-at-heart folks? |

Originally posted by Burntvet Well I tend to agree with the 'corporate BS is shining through' trains of thought but on the subject of sending 'What can we do to get you back' emails, thats just good customer service and smart business. Some folks like to be heard. If the email bots send one of these out to everyone who has cancelled (at very low overhead), even a small percent of ppl coming back is a win and very smart business. |

SWTOR marketing campaign is huge

(When the gf was showing off her new purple robes or something.) Oh well. |

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Riccitiello Confirms 1.7 Million Subscribers
News Discussion « General Discussion 3/09/12 5:22:19 AM
Yeah. Not sure about the 2 million 'opened boxes' by June. unless they figure say the Asian servers will get them another 300K of boxes OR their new 'trial/friend invite system' will corral that many friends at least in the short term. I would be more interested in what 'vast majority' (poor PR terminology) entails and /or how much of the 'vast majority' don't log in for a week or more at a time. I like the game (and wanted to love it) but it's kind of dry the 2nd and 3rd time through. I have a 6month sub (subbed 1st day I logged in, I think) and my remaining 3.5 months is out there. I'll log in to play a bit and chat but for now, I'm pretty much done with it. |

Game of Thrones: GDC 2012: Game of Thrones Goes Sandbox Warfare
News Discussion « General Discussion 3/09/12 5:12:27 AM
Sandbox, skill based, whatever. Swing an Axe get a point in AX skill. Browser based is less than a highlight to me. I immediately figure they are going to focus on tablets, smart phone and the impending WIN8. I was concerned about the 'plenty to do...killing bears, wolves etc'. Time will tell. We'll wait and see. |

Guild Wars 2: One Million Beta Sign Ups Tell the Tale

So they had a 48 hour sign-up and then locked it out? That's disappointing. Oh well. |

Well that was quick They fixed what plagued PvP.
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 2/24/12 4:16:28 PM
They may have fixed some of the things in PvP and I am glad they did...but they didn't fix the big exploits in time. Folks coming up to the 50s are going to find (where there ARE populations of active 50s) that they die a lot. Alot more than lower lvl pvp matchs because those active 50s already there are frequently geared in the really tip top stuff. They have been PVPIng (and some cases exploiting) for more than a month (in some cases 2).
I like the game but it isn't (as someone stated) a place where I can hang my hat. I wanted the same thing. Disappointed but such is life. |

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Possible 'Legacy' Species
News Discussion « General Discussion 2/22/12 5:20:29 AM
Some folks will want to try a new race/same class. Some have (apparently) saved a class until a race (if they are lucky) is implemented. For me I leveled 2 characters, one to 50 and one to mid 40s then went to a new server. Having a long list of mid 20s and 1 30, I will play the 30 to legacy to see the unlocks but it's unlikely I will re-roll again. I like this game but .... somewhat disappointed. |

Complete and Total Garbage at 50
Reviews & Impressions « Star Wars: The Old Republic 2/07/12 5:01:36 AM
Originally posted by Lanfea Same here. Disappointed but still enjoying playing the game (switched from Smuggler to Operative to see the 'other side'). PvP is okay but I do hope/wish they would implement cross-server queueing. It would allow those of us on less populated servers/early hour players to still get some pre-50 killing in.
*shrug* Still hopeful but I cancelled my sub so I don't accidentally forget when the time comes to decide. Rather have to log into my account and pop a CC number back in than get billed when I have decided that the part is over. :/ |

Servers down..... again.....
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 1/31/12 5:24:34 AM
Today's downtime is planned and scheduled but I do empathize with EUs who have to contend. LAST time they were down I assume they wanted to patch something big like the valor crap in Ilum. (Only reason to put a game offline during prime time/weekend hours for all the players is fixing something game unbalancing or game breaking) and didn't pull it off. Then a rather lame 'fixed d/c from game servers' etc etc (which I personally still get *shrug*) So today is expected and maybe will fix whatever they didn't pull off this past weekend. I really don't care very much anymore though I am sorry for the folks who planned/wanted to play today. |

What would have retained you ?
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 1/31/12 5:14:15 AM
Better management of their teams. Initial balance (tiers) in PvP instead of giving the first 50s an opportunity to farm for a month and then separate them out. The BIG holes in farming valor, whether by design or by exploit. ( I am re-rolling and look forward to seeing new story lines but once I hit 50 with all the 50s in BM gear....I do not look forward tot he bloodfest. Maybe not as bad as a level 15 with the 1st 50s but still not good) Lack of communication to the players.
I know a good many folks who were in my guilds and on the 2 servers I play who planned to wait the first 6 months, who have since elected to come BACK after 6 months if there is a apparent change and either un-subbed after their free 30 or are letting their next paid 30 run out. For me it's this: I like the game. Have been playing since day...3... I think but there are some big issues at hand and I honestly think they broke some of the game (PvP) irreparably *there is no real 'catch up' to even out gear unless they tier that out valor ranks or something.) I subbed for 6 months and even with my disappointment would likely have done 3 (they already billed me for the 6 so I am with the game that long at least). I hope things happen. I hope change occurs. Time will tell

Swtor caters for a certain demographic.
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 1/31/12 4:56:12 AM
Mainly white men in the USA is a narrower demographic. There was a fair bit of talk on the servers I was on where the female players felt disappointed that they didn't get more man 'eye-candy', lol. |
