In a way i agree with this but I disagree that it is a reason not to buy. I would say it would be an excellent and valid reason for not joining guilds that just 'pop up' out of nowhere though. I'm not talking the long term folks who have had websites out for a while, beta guilds which carry over or groups of folks who migrate from other games en masse. The folks to be careful of are the 'any 6 characters can get togehter and make a guild...' as was shown in one of the podcasts a while back. Actually, that brings a point up. Do guild dissolve if there are less than 6 (and I suppose do they devolve when a large guild loses members?) Anyone know? |

The OP said 'they heard....' and if so they would stay away. They didn't say they heard that and were boycotting the game at this point. I tend to disagree with his/her idea that two different model types would make the game unacceptable but to the folks who are knocking him/her, read closer before you bash. |

I'd never go back. The only good thing to come of the AoC failure (in my eyes..everyone has to make up their own mind) was that I was worried about being torn between AoC and WAR. As I've long since resigned from AoC, quandary solved! |

I doubt they will institute IP blocks. If they did I would think Asia might be more likely to keep down the gold sellers (some at least). |

I drove to my local Gamestop and bought it at the counter. That way if someone snarfs up (other than shipper) I have people to speak harshly to on a face to face basis. |

The players were there. The promotions/advertising was there. The hype was all the way there. The only ones not there were the game developers. Poor implementation and poor customer service. As several people pointed out, games kill games. There are enough 'Big Titles' out there (and even the F2Ps that have some heart) that folks won't stay with a game that isn't good. Sure a small handful will always hang around for one reason or another (and if they enjoy, good for them!) but to be a continuing commodity, a game has to be good. People even understand that things don't always work right right out the door. That said, if things aren't fixed post haste, people have other choices. AoC and those who put it out did their own damages to FC. Whether they could have avoided these damages or not, I don't know. I tend to think that at some point (or several points) FC threw up it's collective hands and said ' That's it. We have to go with what we've got and pray to Crom that miracles happen.' (I feel the same way before exams now and again! |

If all the content of the 3 cities (per side) have been rolled up into one, that means nothing is lost. I didn't see anything about quests specifically mentioned in the 'massive' fortresses but I can't imagine they have a huge place sitting in each realm with no quests. 'Sure..throw some walls down there..they'll all flock to it and defend...we don't need to add content since they just need a place to duck from arrows...' In general I just feel a bit miffed that the Humes and Chaos monkeys get the big cities in their respective areas. I don't know about Chaos but the Emperor only ruled over Human lands. (Maybe there will be Demi-bosses in the form of racial leaders in each fort or something).
Oh well. I'm still salivating over it all. |

Thats how I read it as well but not knowing how many CB testers there are I couldn't say for sure that all 100K would be covered by CB/pre-Ces. Some CEs may not elect or be able to do the PW for scheduling reasons and some 'nice' CBs might elect to 'allow' room for folks who havent seen the game, so some Standard users might get in as well. |

I did miss a post and happily did I now read it (I have the CE pre-ordered). I would surmise that CB is unlimited access but limited in options for configuration, view, UI etc and the hardware requirements and less. CE will get the invites next week as the post says. PW and OB will have full config but be level capped and will require a different DL than the CB which would be limited (routed) to certain server clusters specifically designated for the CB. The PW/OB will be the full version. The PW they will use to specifically stress test the servers by adding additional 'simulated' loads to the machines, over and above what the actual players will be creating. (Standard cluster testing). I'm not in the CB (YET) so I can't verify the first and the 2nd and 3rd and just speculation but unless there's another post to clarify, that's how I (happily after #5) read the information. |

It really depends on how old your machine is, I suppose. If it's a 'new'-ish unit, and you plan to have it around for gaming for a few years, I would upgrade. |

Preview Weekend is designed as a special event. They dont do player invited special events during a closed beta. Plus the Preview Weekened is obviously being done with the Final Client which isn't available for download until the 15th and isn't activated until Open Beta. I'm not sure where your brain seems to reason out that a preview weekend for pre order customers would happen before the game is 'finished' or out of 'closed beta' atleast. It has nothing to do with us getting into closed beta. Thats merely a treat. Besides if they wanted 100,000 people to have the client by this weekend they'd have to of started letting us download the mega huge client a few days ago.
I think the 'we will allow our CB testers in....' is offering some confusion. Unless I've missed a post somewhere, pre-orders get OB access. CB is still by invite. The weekend before the OB is active, they will have this special PW and the pre-orders will get access to to this. Think of the PW as a 2 (or 3) day head start to OB only but because the CE buyers paid more (presumably) THEY will get special invites to the PW first, access to downloads of the client early and so on. THEN the CB testers will be invited in with the expectation of 100K users total for the weekend to stress test. I would assume if the total number of CE/CB takers does not equal the 100K required, the Standard pre-orders will be in line for the next round of invite to the PW. In the event that 100K CB/CE users is met (likely, IMO) the Standard Ed pre-orders would be in line to log in 3 days (unless server tweaks are required) later in any event when the OB opens. My guess too would be that the CB testers will be wiped or limited to certain servers which will have the appropriate level/content caps applied. So all in all, the way I see it is CE will get a 3 days head start in OB over Standard though some lucky Standards will get in on a first come first serve (limited) basis. |

Woohoo! Now I can plan a vacation week around the launch. Seriously though, I wish they would give a concrete date for the OB. 1 Week before, 2 weeks. The sooner the better. Not knowing is a bit like a Christmas where you have no idea of what (if any) gifts you are going to find. edit: On another post I found some OB info though the 15th won't likely be the actual beta. Just the file downloads and registration. See below. |

P? Interesting. Core 2 Duos should be very happy. I wonder if they will require some processor affinity setting if you have the Dual or Quad core rigs. Given the general flood of the market it would seem kind of silly if there wasn't out of box support for multi-core but we'll see.
I suppose they made the game 'happy' for slightly older machines not only to try to stay in the WoW marketability range but to gain some foothold on unhappy 'specced out' players for AoC.
I can't wait! |

Under the Admin heading it read, "The Admin window is the tab where Leaders and members with the appropriate permissions can..." I wonder if 'members with appropriate permissions' means Officers specifically or if it means that specific non-officers can get guild level admin privileges. (An alt who doesn't want to be listed as an Officer, as an example).
Anyone have any ideas? |

One major change since computers( and cells with text, mobile PDAs etc) became a mainstay of life (or so says my 86 year old grandmother who couldn't survive without her email/IMS) is the disconnection of people from people. Anonymity is a wonderful advantage (not that people are EXACTLY anon as very few mask their IP when directly connect to the INet) for people who would otherwise be small-minded and nasty to a very few to become loud and obnoxious to many..with no effort!
Another unfortunately fact is that people rarely look 'for the other person's perspective' or if they do, they think "I could deal with that" and don't take into consideration that everyone is different. Not just from the perspective of race or heritage but from general experience. To give an example of a term which is bruted about more and more is the word 'raped'. '....we PvP'd and i raped him...' or ' ....that gaming company took your money and disappeared..you got raped'..... I doubt very much that most of the people who use the term really know what it is like to be raped and if they did I think it unlikely they would use the word so casually. But it's has become more and more common for people to use the concept. I can't change that my my stomach turns every time I read that in casual print....People just don't realize what a single word can do when uttered casually and without forethought. Anyway, that's all for me. I hope someone sees this and maybe give a bit of thought before they casually smash people in the future. |

The interceptor looks a little too sporty for a desert wasteland, IMO but overall looks very nice. I would choose a dune buggy with a turret mounted machine gun in the back (sure, it's a bit 'Road Warrior' but if it works thats all that matters!) |
