I was busy with other MMOs when SWG was having it's day. I'm looking forward to this version o when it's released. I'll definitely jump on at the beginning (if  future reports continue to roll out generally positive).

Bad things happen to good people sometimes. Their system has software that flags based on defined patterns. It would be nice to have them look at a specific account. to confirm, particularly if a person goes to the effort of calling them as did the OP. Regretfully, this is not the case. Thus the 1 in 100 non-botters are put out with the trash. Doesn't make it any easier on those affected of course.

Over the years, I've reduced previews to a 'tip-of-the-iceberg' starting point. I take them with a grain of salt but also look for a tidbit to tickly my fancy. If the review has nothing that sounds interesting, I table the process and occasionally poke back into forums to see what other folks are saying. If there IS something that sounds interesting (getting harder for me to find these days) I start poking into the forums, looking for online videos etc. I choose my own dooms (not to be confused with game!), you  might say but don't mind a starting point now and again.

I hope they do something about the bots but dout it very much. Hiring 'A NAME' is more likely to be a PR thing to help calm the angry 'real' subs than it is a way keep the bots from botting.

I am really disappointed. I bought the new 'special edition' from D2D, installed without a hitch and now I can't get past this stupid credit card  'not 3D card Verifiable...etc'. A complete waste of 22 dollars. I rarely get angry at companies but this is BS.

I've seen some stupid things from MMO companies but this is right up there near the top.

Actually there was an announcement that items wouldn't be availableat the start. I ws under the impresion however that it was CE itemsonly and pre-order items (which affect all playing atm) were going to be in so I remain confused.

Dead Server Walking....It can't hold though I am sure they will minimize the downtime given thier efforts so far.

I played open and closed beta but limited my time/levels in game. I wanted everything to be relatively 'new' when I play later today. Basically I was looking forward to the opening but that was it. I woke up this morning and I have to admit I'm excited! Not so much that I won't accomplish anything for the next 5 3/4 hours but enough to make sure that at 3PM (my time..EST) I'm ready to log in.

Should be loads of fun and looking forward to seeing you all in game!

Servers Down!!!

As someone pointed out there are 10s of thousands of people lining up to grab names. *shrug* I logged on basically so I had a character made and to confirm they didn't have issues with pre-order/early access.  If someone quits because they don't get their name of choice thats kind of sad, but I suppose I wouldn't want to have people like that on my server anyways.

4. Auctioneers. Players can setup sellers anywhere they want (in cities) and such and it can get really annoying. I hate this system.

6. Bots/gold farmers: NCSoft has a very, very weak stance towards bots and farmers. They usually take a very serious approach in what they say and what they plan to do, but rarely does it turn into action.

I will be playing but those two points above do leave room for comment. It would be nice if there were limited areas for sellers or at least specific areas where sellers CAN'T set up. I hate porting in from somewhere and having sellers sitting on the flight pad or 50 'BUY FROM ME' hitting me in the face when I get to the city.

Bots - That worries me a bit. I lived and loved L2 for 3.5 years. On one hands I truly despise them but on the other hand, once you know them you can usually forget them. At least /ignore <name> works nicely for the idiots who spam advertising.

And in answer to the OP, I am playing because I think the game is amazingly beautiful, difficult but not impossible and just generally a lot of fun. Personally I think it's about the 'prettiest' game out there and still playable without a mongo gaming rig.

Updating the drivers as has been stated is a good thing to do. You might also (if the drivers update doesn't fix the issue) go to the video settings in game and try resetting to defaults. I had a couple oddities in game (no mobs/npcs visible in the Abyss, for instance) and resetting to default popped everything right back up.

yeah, i prefer the Asian Voice overs, would have been nice if they let you chose them,,but no biggie

Agreed. Once in a  while I'll grimace a bit but it won't be anything to make me stop playing.

GG's concept is good in theory. In practice...it can be somewhat lacking. It does curb some of the casual botters/hackers but overall it causes a lot of problems.

On the subject of Vista (64 bit) though, I have no issues and my machine is locked down fairly tight. I haven't yet tried Aion on WIN 7 simply because of a lack of time. (And WIN 7 is on my work laptop which I need for...work)

The voices are alright. I think i picked Callous and it seems a bit gruff. Sort of 'Don't make me talk to you as I don't want to hear my own voice!' The NPCs voices are 'Meh...' at best but again not a game breaker (I do think they should re-work some of the weasels' voices, those don't fit at all).

I knew the CB toons were going to be deleted and honestly the voice I had in CB...I didn't mind it. I would love to see the OB toons carry over into the game but thus far they are doomed as well. (L2 was supposed to delete the toons but ended up keeping them).

I'm torn between putting in time to seriously work my toons in OB in the hopes they 'live' versus poking around and playing with alt classes knowing they are doomed.

I will note that I was in CB and stopped playing in the mid-20s as I didn't want to 'know' too much of the game at release.

1. Graphics - SOme folks are saying anime/cartoony but the bottom line is that they are quite beautiful (someof the humanoid mobs are a bit odd but not to me a game breaker)

2. Music - Give me the soundtrack for the car. Great stuff.

3. Controls - Good but with some tweakings. Some folks like the auto-run to target, some don't. Was vexing to me as a melee initally then tab targetting took over. The profanity flter is silly/strict but that's NCSoft since day 1. What can you do?

4. Servers - Today has been troublesome. After the Account Management page came up I changed my PW and logged in. 15 minutes later I logged out and took a nap. There was mad lag, clipping, rubber banding. OW. After an hour and half I logged back on and all was well. I did see a few other folks rubber banding but I had no issues even on high. (I have a good PC but a far cry from a gaming rig)

5. NCSoft communications and clarity - This has always been an issue for them. I never got an email about changing my PW to log on. Once I managed to actually log onto the forums, I saw what I had to do (Acct Mgmt was down at that point) but I never got the initial 'Do This!

6. Crafting/Collection - The collection quests kind of steeer you to keeping up with gathering to get the XP. The crafting isn't difficult nor particularly tedious. It's not a game breaker either. Crafting helps but it won't make you super man(or woman).

Overall. I enjoy the game. It's not a 'This is the last game I'll ever need to play' but it's fun, pretty and generally enjoyable

Gotta love how the NSCOFT Account Management page is down due to SCHEDULED maintenance. They are so full of shit!!

I feel dumb for missing the email that told us to reset our passwords, but... I can't even find one!

I didn't miss mine but all I got from them was 'Thank you for creating your presales game account! Once you are approved for beta testing, or you activate the game with the serial code from your final product, you will be able to log in.' (last week and I was in CB months ago). Nothing about changing the PW.

For anyone seeing that error. You have to change the PW on your game account or you get 'ID or PW doesn't match'. The account Mgmt site is down though so you can't make any changes.

It's irritating but what the heck. I'd rather have them have this issue today (reminds me of the first days of L2..similar database issues) than when the live game opens up and our characters are permanent.

Agreed. There's nothing remarkable about the tutorial/items though some of the perks you can get might be amsing at some point. They should have an option to run the tutorial or skip as folks want. If they skip auto-jump the toons to level5 with the perks and let them start with none of the 'junk' quest items.

I played in the CB a few months back and tried very hard to test the game. I do actually 'test' when I'm in Betas, not just try a game to see if I like it. This one thought I just couldn't force myself to keep going on (not the worst by a long shot) but not the best by an even longer shot. I'm a bit disappointed that things are still in such rough shape. *shrug* Such as it is.

I turned off the comic outline and then played around with smoothing and anti-aliasing. Now I have quite a nice screen wherever I go. (Other than the floating radiation. Not sure if I've messed a setting or that just needs a bit of work).
