oh what a great time! Being TEF'd was great because you HAD to be extra aware of your surroundings. Going into the rebel base to scoop some faction points meant you had to be REALLY careful when you came out....you might find a whole group of rebels waiting to pick you off! I'd always run out and try and get aboard my swoop as fast as i could and try to just keep moving..... On more than one occasion my swoop got blasted and I found myself....shall we say...in a pickle!!! hahahaha |

I won't lie, I thought about it this last week too.... I have a few folders of old screen shots from Pre cu and when I look at those and I see the literally over a hundred ppl in one place on my radar, I remember that it is all just a memory and the truth is much much more desolate..... Better to remember a good memory than to go back and find a shell of emptyness.

I found the problem to be a malware app running. Ran spybot and resolved all jerky motion. It actually affected other MMO's as well.

OHHHH>..one last thing to add about Second life. Adults only. So under 18...Bye bye!
There is a teen version of SL, but then I have no experience with it so can't comment on it.

HAHAH...I see you spent all that PRE NGE time on Mustafar getting the gimmick trinkets...they made some great decorating stuff on that one.....Then 2 weeks later....BLAM. Book closed. I have been tempted many times to resub or activate my old character on Bria.....Tempted....but never did it. ...And I never will. I must hold to my convictions. Faxx |

I keep seeing ppl ask how they can make money in SL...
A couple things... I know personally several people that make their living in SL.... And I assure you, unless you plan to invest MONTHS UPON MONTHS of time to learn the in's and out's of SL, move along. Friend number one: A true master of codewriting. Spent ALL his waking days in SL writing code for virtual casino games.... He made about $400-$500 bucks US DOLLARS a week. He was constantly under the gun because hackers tried to exploit the gambling code so they could bilk him. Stress beyond words. Finally, after years of his effort, SL banned casinos and ALL HIS EFFORTS went into oblivion. Friend number two: I don't know her very well, but I know her boyfriend very well... She is a clothing designer. She has spent MONTHS UPON MONTHS designing, marketing, selling, etc. Clothes to sell in SL. She makes approx $400 US a week according to my friend. Friends and rumors of friends: Real estate. Yes just like RL, you always HEAR about ppl making their living doing real estate, ...and I know some that do just that, but they keep their day jobs too. But they spend alot up front also. Just like RL. So....unless you got MONEY and time to educate yourself, don't plan to get rich in SL this route either..... How I, MYSELF, made money..... I used to dj. It paid for me to afford my monthly paid account, and my cost of "living" in sl. lol. best fun I ever had. I've made life long friends, met my now living with me girlfriend, and....still enjoy the hell out of it. For those that think it's just a "sex game"...move along. you're wrong, and you didn't take the time to get deep enough into it. For those that say it's laggy, uhh..ya. Name one other MMO where even the land you walk on was created by the player that owns it. ... Every tree, every person, every single "prim" in the 3d realm was created, scripted, placed by users.... There is no greater depth in any other sand box...period. And until computer power, and bandwidth can accomodate the truely uniqe structure of SL, it will lag.....most MMO's die with age, SL just keeps getting better because the users are the content providers. Do a google search for "Second life in the news" and see. and last... Am I a fanboi? Been in SL over 2 years now, but I log in only casually these days due to time of RL job. Played SWG for 2 years before that. Keep a WoW account active for my kids. "Ike Brewster" |

To give a proof that the SWG community WAS the best ever.... I made friends in that game (from 4 years ago now) That I talk to daily still to this day...and we've not played any games together since the NGE. The guild I was in had 12 members fly from CAli, AZ, Tenn, ...they all flew into Dallas to meet a member who was there on a business trip.... It was over holloween (2 weeks before the NGE) and we had the best fun we'd ever had.....It ended so suddenly. Anyway...by comparison.. Every MMo I've played since the NGE hit....not one new friend that translated beyond the game. (And don't tell me it's something I did different either! lol) There is one game that matches the social lvl of Swg...though most of you will laugh when you read this...but it's Second Life. (I don't call that a 'game' though just in case you wondered) But the community in SL is broad and diverse ....and....most ppl there actually went into SL FOR the social reasons....But when you consider SWG had that lvl of community without trying (as opposed to SL being MAINLY intended for social community) it speaks of what SWG really was.....The most unique game ever made....and it's such a shame SOE didn't spend enough time IN their own game learning what was broke and improving THAT...rather than fall to the 'WoW-eyed' sickness. Faxx I paid in over 2 million credits for my house maintenence.....the week of the nge....anyone think my house is still there? (My last guild was the city of Concordia on Rori and I had a Large naboo there...hehe) ..and on Bria, most of our cities were lvl 5....There were no new cities by the time NGE hit due to population density..... |

2000M to the East of Mos Eisley on Bria..... I had a small tat house, no there was no city there, just a buttload of houses going up...it seemed to be more and more crowded on a daily basis.... I would sit in my house...watch the radar screen, decorate it.... Always there were some nearby critters...always. I'd go out and shoot them just for fun.... Soon, the population got so high that Squill started spawning all over the valley....and being so close to M.E. noobs would wander into the area and find themselves under attack from these pests.... My entire "neighborhood" of vets there would always help keep the population down. Making friends is easy when you lend an assist to a noob so they don't get killed. Best times I ever had were in my little tat house. And yes, 10 min shuttle waits were THE BEST thing for the game's social growth....When modal chat came out it totally started killing off the community....before that time whold entire groups could be chatting and laughing it up while on a major hunt....once modal chat came up the groups fell to silence beause you could no longer chat and fight at the same time.....dark days from then on. I swear to God I'm still waiting for Torres and Smed to get what they deserve. Do not think for one minute we're going to "get over" anything SOE. Faxx of Bria |

LOL...I have a friend in SL that build (painstakingly I might add) a fully habitable version of the Tatooine medium and small house. Except he put in tintable windows where you could make it transparent or click to make it like SWG had it. (Only $500 Lindens too! :P ) Oh best to mention NOW>...... If you're under 18 yrs old, don't bother checking out SL...Adults only. (thank god)

I just signed up for EU, Game loads up fine, but whenever I try to move AT ALL, I get this horrible jerking motion on all the rest of the terrain...only my avitar moves "smooth" I'm running a brand new gaming rig that runs EVERY other game at above 60 fps, including other MMO's. I have a 15/15 Mbit Fios connection as well. Anyone else got issues with movement causing jerky behavior?

As an ancient member of Stonet myself, I can say that the loyalty is to trek and it's vision. Of course the web site is important, it's one of the best trek forums I've ever seen. What you have there " vs." here is this.... that entire site is dedicated to Trek and specifically Trek online. So ya, everyone there wants this game to be great, myself included (And it's been a LONG time since i logged in over there, maybe even a year) but the ppl I know there are great fans of a great vision of what the future could be. And it's not simply wishful thinking. Ok, so PE or whatever they call it now had a bad week..... so what. They are WAY too far from taking pre-orders or subs so they would not bother to waste hot air and tell us the game is ok still right? Don't tell me it's some PR move to save stock value (lol @ that notion) Cheers to all my old Sto-net friends.... you know who you are. Faxx. p.s. the OP sounded a bit hostile at that fine community in my humble opinion. |

Eradi, one hour is like quitting World of warcraft before you launch your race and give up while in the character creation mode. lol. the game has a MUCH higher learning curve than ANY other listed on this site. I have seen a recurring theme with alot of posters who obviously do not give the game any serious shake, but are quick to say "it's just this....or it's just that...." Let me offer some FACTS about sl: Contrary to the normal quick hit "it's just sex jobs" comment: I have played SL for a full year now, and I have been a DJ, a host for games, a greeter for clubs (not all clubs are R rated) I was a bartender too! lol There is a massive Trek community, star wars community, firefly even! lol. you name it: it's there. The crafting is hard. period. do you know why? Because WHAT other MMO gives you power to completely control the virtual world? hmmm? name ONE! I can put a tree in world and it will stay there if that's my land....or turn it to snow...build a structure the way I want it...not just have a choice from ten houses.....you can't learn that in one month, let alone one hour. Can you people grasp what I just said about building? You have ALL control in it!!! YES, there is a massive sexually adventurous community....so? I don't rush to the first strip club I see and declare the game a bunch of pervs either! the world is MASSIVE. I have to say it's refreshing to find a place where the 14 year olds aren't acting stupid like retards....beacause the game is for adults only! (my favorite feature in fact!) Now...all that being said, it's NOT for everyone....so if you want WoW graphics with massive panoramic scenery....not gonna find it...The reason the lag is high here is because someone had to create EVERYTHING you see in world....and EVERY part has to be loaded....no cookie cutter trees here....no cookie cutter hills or water....it's all unique....so ya, bandwidth is throttled all the way up...and it's still slow to load...but I'd trade that everytime over seeing 30 of the same tree and house. Also....no other mmo allows for the creativeness as second life.... People design things beyond anything you can imagine....after a full year I still find something that just blows my mind....found a guy hot air ballooning.....he took me for a ride to the store he bought it...and now I have one!! hahahah....ya baby!!! you can skydive, develope futureistic weapons that blast a person into orbit....nuke your neighbor (but you will get busted!) You can have a pool party and play YOUR own music to everyone....play YOUR home videos on YOUR TV in game.....to show everyone how ugly you are! haha. I think those of you that proclaim it's just sex run to the first word with "strip" in it and then get all goofy....ya that's a generality, but really...what happened to spending a LITTLE time at help Island...there's no sex there and it took me 6 hours to read how to just get the basics of sl...this guy can't say 1 hour and he knows about it. |

hiya Ob! Nice to see you still here! muahahaha. Actually I did read that post, It didn't say that a person could not say certain things, it was a nice way of suggesting the topic be focused to that thread....and if one looks closer, you'll see I really didn't say what it appears I said...Rather, just an observation of the SWG forums here after months of being gone...But THAT is something we'll never see since the thread was deleted. But....like I said, the game is still no good after NGE, so I left here also since I am playing another game that has no relationship AT ALL to SOE or it's affiliates. ~Ike. |

ya, I don't like this answer either. I played 2+ years on swg looking at a guy's @ss. I don't feel it contributed to any mental issues. However, the one guy I knew somewhat well that played a female used this line.....But...to be honest, I think it was more for other reasons of his own. |
