I agree with ya, i gavre Vanguard a shot too. I believe the pvp server's population is really low and other pve server are okay. the general chat is pretty dead though, but more and more people are coming or returning to vanguard due to the deteriote state of AoC and the fantastic job that SOE has done.

But i think its an ok game, i am still waiting for the big change/update thatz coming soon i believe in August.

anywayz, i do agree with your that AoC is different and its not something that everyone will enjoy and needs a lot of work and implement to make it a great game.

i love to try out this game, but for some reason, everytime i download the game one of the file in the zip is corruped, i ahve tried downloading 3 times!! o well, i'll give it another try later.

Personally there are no mmorpgs released yet similiar to UO. You can wait for Darkfall or Mortal online.

i am playing Vanguard currently because of the huge world and stunning graphics while waiting for either ot these 2 games releases.

You're having an operating system problem.  Best solution is detroy vista...but since that's not really an option do these....

1) Make sure you have service pack 1.

2) Make sure all your motherboard and Video card drivers are up to date.  My game wouldn't run until I got the latest motherboard drivers.  THat's unique to me though

3) Reload Direct X.  Make sure for some odd reason you don't have direct X 10 chosen in you AOC settings.  I think its locked but you never know

4) Turn off that admin setting in Vista and see if it works

Get on AOC forums and do a search.

Just a long shot but have you tried rolling back your Graphics Drivers to the older version ? I was having issues with the latest Nvidia Drivers and rolled back to the previous drivers and everything s been fine since.

 

But it could also be the opposite and you may need the latest drivers.

 

is your problem same as mine? but i did try both version though. nothing new >.<

No not the same as your problem but I kept getting just black screens and loads of flickering on the Menu screens, just tought it might help tho , real sorry to hear your having these probs too hope you get it sorted soon .

i just bought the card yesterday, but i did update it online, and in the system theres only 1 graphic card driver shows up. i can't find the old one really.

2) Have you got all the latest Vista updates?  Because AoC likes to flash a warning that you don't have Vista's SP1 pack if you haven't.   It could simply be that the patcher is trying to prompt you to download them, but for some reason is failing to do so.

3)  Right click on the Age of Conan shortcut that is on your desktop and select "Run As Administrator".  It could be Vista's "User Account Control" playing silly sods (which you can switch off if you need to by going into the User Accounts section of the Control Panel and removing the tick from "Enable User Account Control").
