EvE WoW DaoC PlanetSide Fury All have better PvP, more content, less bugs and were more fun to play. What WAR has to offer you is more bugs, more imbalance, more marketing spinoff... And sometimes they charge you more LOL (Remember the double charges of september). |

And the problem was... Most of them were chinese gold farmers... But now with the power of google and forums, the botting software is soo easy to acquire regular players now use it. Which brings me to the second point, NCSoft wasn't prepared to meet such popularity, because there was so many players at launch they had barely time to concentrate on bots. So most people nowadays feel invincible and run bots software. This might be a bigger problem than it seems, on one side if NCSoft release a "super patch" and get rid of bots, all those players that have already botted their way up will not be able to use software and start playing, and will not get banned. It's going to take some time before AH inflation goes back to normal. The last issue is if NCSoft doesn't come up with the "super patch" and start banning bots at an alarming rate, they gonna get negative community forums, which ain't good either... Honestly I wouldn't like to be in the shoes of the manager right now |

Originally posted by Riceman I thought this was another sarcastic post... But then I saw you asked a very good question. My answer is this, there is nothing in WAR that you can't do better in any other MMO. That said the only strongest point to WAR is PvP and it is limited to Tier 1&2. If you're looking for a game to play for 1-3 months go ahead you might have some fun. Otherwise: Vanguard, WoW, EQ2, CoH, Eve, AoC, Aion are mmo that have multiple things to do. Mileage may vary but in any case any of those games have way better elements. |

Can I lvl and have competitive gear by PvP/RvR now?
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 11/04/09 2:04:09 PM
Basically what Tribalsoul said. -You need PvE gear to complete the siege PQ. -You need PvE gear to acquire the necessary WARDS to complete the PQ. -You can get your Dark Promise set in a matter of 2-3 weeks with the right guild and friends, the PvP sets will take you a while. Basically Mythic tried to force people into doing PvE as well as PvP, but since the PvE suck so much in this game, most people will tell you, you can get everything in PvP, that's because they either play on a server that never pushed to sieges. So yeah for ORVR you can use the regular pvp gear and grind your way up. |

Free trials=Frist step towards F2P

This is probably the best PR Mythic could have done on this. If you aren't a noob to mmo's you'll easily see through this. -Most MMO that do the same thing do it generally when they have nothing to lose. -T1 is sadly not representative of the game -Prolly the best way to clean up the game forums and get the new players to share positive experience -This is a way to get the server loads up -At this point in time nothing good can come out of this
Considering this game is outsourced to korea, and there have been many talks about going F2P over there, it wouldn't surprised me if Mythic/EA is using the US/EU version to beta test the whole thing. |

Now that things are looking grim for Aion...

Originally posted by RendRegen Funny... WAR is done, it"s just dying slowly. Aion might crash too, but it's way too soon to know. And even if all the newly released mmo would crash tomorrow most players would either return to WoW/EQ/EvE or move to the next big thing. WAR had over 60 servers, Capital cities were sieged so often at one point they had to introduce a timer on fort to reduce city sieges. And now there is so little people on the servers that they had to remove the forts so people siege the city instead of closing the remaining 6 NA servers into 1 or 2. |

I guess this something mmorpg.com could make an editorial about, and what to do and not to do. This would be a lot more informative than many of the junk I've seen in the past 1-2 years. What happenned to the old mmorpg.com staff? |

Mythic keep your credit card info after you cancel
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 10/17/09 12:56:51 PM
Thanks for the info, I wasn't aware of that about SOE nor NCSoft, do you have confirmation of this? I was under the impression those companies used something like E-Link or LinkPoint. Can you confirm this? http://www.websiteforge.com/blog.html?m17:post=just-use-the-credit-card-on-file-credit-card-security Anyway my experience now proves me one thing, before you jump ship one can simply call in and ask the information to be removed. Had I done this before hand I wouldn't be in this situation. |

Mythic keep your credit card info after you cancel
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 10/17/09 12:14:29 PM
Even if you cancel the game, Mythic will keep your credit card credentials on files. This how people got charged after they left. What's worst is if you get charged after you cancel they have no record of the transaction. Facts: -10 days trial -Purchased the game, register for 90 days (discount) -30 days free -90 days paid -2x30 days for referrals So back in august I'm thinking, I'm going to cancel before my 90 days is up and then use the remaining time + 60 days of referrals to think about coming back or not in WAR. Not so, in september 2009 I get a regular 15$/month charged on my credit card. Facts: -Email confirmation of subs cancellation dated august 2009 -Credit card bill with 15$ charged to Mythic/EA in september 2009 -Over the phone Mythic representative inform me they have no record of a 15$ monthly charge, that it must be my CC company charging me somethng about recurring behavior on the part of my credit card company. -Mythic inform me they keep credit card credential on files even after you cancel your account. -You have to call Mythic to have your credit card removed from their database and you can ask for an email to be sent with the confirmation. This kind of thing shouldn't happen. |

Most funny, they nerfd all AoE by 10 feet, how do you rebalance classes if you nerf everyone equally? I loved the letter about fixing path to IC then the next letter was about removing Fortress... Basically you remove something that has to be fixed and then you tell everyone it's fixed? There are so many reasons this game failed, hell 900K players could list you some reasons LOL.

Originally posted by teco221 Yes 1.3.2 is live. What's more important they remove stuff from the game... -Fortress are gone -All new players start in same area. -They added more XP so players level up faster, modified some quests accordingly -Apprentice system (high lvl can play with low lvl players now) What does it mean? With the bleeding out of subscribers there aren't enough hardcore PvP'ers so Forts had to be removed (strangely months back people were able to get to IC weekly, nowadays they cannot thanks to all accross the board low pop). Not enough new subs so everyone starts in same zone. Not enough players to group with in T2-T3 so they introduce Apprentice system. There is two folds to this patch. Since this game rely soooo much on player population they had to do something. -Fix the game so it works with less players -Do some changes to the CC system to please the majority of players left What Mythic did not address is the mountain of bugs which many of them are months and months old. They still haven't addressed the rebalance post 1.3.0b nerf blanket and most importantly they still haven't fix the gimped classes. Put simply, they're running around trying to put out fires in every corner with a skeleton crew. The patches are farther and farther apart. They tell you we get faster smaller patches, then they do bigger and farther patches. They tell you they gonna hit you with the nerf bat and adjust later accordingly and then nothing is done and just add more nerfs to the game. This game has no direction this has been the problem from the start. Mythic has no captain... |

Heads up Mythic double charging, reactivating accounts without consent.
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 10/06/09 5:04:13 PM
Paid for 90 days, got 2 months worth of referrals, then I decided I was going to cancel and wait it out for the remaining of the 60 days referrals and see if I'm going to renew or not.
Thing is, going through my VISA bills, Mythic charged me a full month in september even though I was still running on the first 90 days, and that after I cancelled and received my cancellation email.
Phoned EA/Mythic today...
My only concern is, that no one on the phone could confirm that I will be refund, the only answer I got is:"I sent a ticket to the billing department and you should get a refund". Not only that, the same person inform me over the phoone that if I get a refund chances are I'm going to lose my 60 days referrals...So basically I had to verify, I have to keep a record of the emails and I do have to follow up on their mistakes...
This is exactly the reason I would not renew my account even if the game patch/update/fix were very good. How many cancelled accounts have been reactivated this way without the knowledge of their owners? How on earthcan your account be reactivated and not receive an email about this?
Just a heads up, there is no mention about this issue on WAR's website, a responsible company would issue a statement or at least an email and ask their customers about any unusual activities.
I'd like to thank the people that reported the double charging on these forums otherwise I might not have noticed this and paid 15$ for nothing. Just search their forums, there are many many reports about this. http://forums.warhammeronline.com/warhammer/board/message?board.id=server_bl&thread.id=15149 http://forums.warhammeronline.com/warhammer/board/message?board.id=server_bl&thread.id=16220 http://forums.warhammeronline.com/warhammer/board/message?board.id=server_bl&thread.id=15981 http://forums.warhammeronline.com/warhammer/board/message?board.id=server_bl&thread.id=15868
