Well while I agree with most of your points, it really takes a few games 500+ to realise how shallow and broken the gameplay really is though. |

Originally posted by mackdawg19 I'm sorry but based on this, every shooters out there that offers number 4 could be included. On the same note number 3 is debatable at best. WoT is not an MMO, unless you consider games like Black OPS and battlefield series MMO's. Martial Empire for example is much more an MMO and yet is not features on this website, there are so many MMO's out tere not listed here that you don't need to add pseudo-fps disguised as tanks. Meanwhile you have games like "Battlestar Reloaded" which were stealing copyrighted assets and doesn't even exists anymore listed on this website. www.mmorpg.com quality is going down, down down http://martialempires.gamigo.com/ |

Originally posted by Stormshade Thanks for the informative answer, so basically whether I go gold->silver or silver->gold I get to keep my toon, but get a "respec" in the process? Thing, I went with the power armor archtype from the current version and I don't see how this will affect my toon after the 25th if I decide to go F2P. I mean lots of the information on your website might appear very clear to veterans, but from a newbie point of view they appear very limited. |

So let's say I register to play F2P on the 25th, and after say 15-20 levels with my toon I want to go P2P, few questions arise. -Since the archtypes are so limited I might as well reroll if I switch to P2P. -Say I buy the game get my free month, and then go F2P if my toon isn't one of the basic archtype I'm screwed? I know nothing is free, and I know they use this to lure more people into paying, but the limited archtype is kinda non-sense to me or maybe I didn't understand fully the concept behind this? |

I've followed this story a bit from what I've gathered is this: -Someone admitted having decrypted the files (could be more people out there as this game has probably one of the lowest security features in place for an MMOG) -That person posted the info on the forums -The informations were about the game not showing the "real" stats in game for many items and tanks. The mods banned the user from forums for a couple days, the informations he posted were backed up by other people on forums that are not part of world of tanks, game hacks forums to be precise, which leads me to think more than one person were able to decypher the game data. The game data showed for example that certain tanks had less camouflage coefficient than the value given to players in game for example, which would explain why the in-game experience differ from what it would be if the stats provided to players were true. This is really bad if you ask me specially considering people will actually pay "real" money to acquire those items for the stats showed in game when actually the developpers coded a different value. Combine this to the huge imbalance between tank era and faction and you get a pretty huge mess on your hands. |

Well the way I see it FE is a semi-sandbox, so end game is kinda limited to what you want to do with your spare time. -Acheivements -Crafting the highest gear/vehicules/armor -Grind your faction -RP -Make alts -PvP I mean this is the same for all game online atm, whatever the game once you reach cap, it`s always grind gear/faction/whatever untill you get it, and then what? Say you cap at WoW then start your raids, once you've killed those bosses and got your gear, then what? That is why some people prefer sandbox like mmo's because there is no defined end game, on the other hand if you are used to theme park, you might wonder what's beyond your regular gameplay. |

Originally posted by Dedthom Yes graphic engine received some upgrades in the past year or so, if your videocard play nice with the game the characters move smooth, it's in melee combat that it doesn't look nice tbh, if you play range all is cool. They tuned ragdoll physics 2-3 patches ago, and I have to say it's perfect. Although i have to admit I sometimes miss the boom fly away 30 feet, lol. At any rate there is a trial available, and according to devs new content (high lvl) coming next patch in feb. |

Originally posted by Shari -No -No Servers are PvP only and it's restricted to certain zones only. Rifts allow for PvP in some PvE restricted zones which leads to greifing vs "real pvp" debates. As for crafting, you might as well just forget about it, it's like WoW, you do the dungeons "theme park" to acquire your gear, anything crafted is good, but not compared to drop loot or pvp earned gear. And since everything in this game is based on random generated output, crafting could be the worst experience you ever got from a game. Aio has positive notes though, nice lore, nice classes, very nice avatar details, environment might look flat comprade to your avatar because it looks so good. Combat is your usual 2nd gen mmo, right-click to lock target and click timers in the right order no skill required (a la WoW if you prefer). |

It's possible, I heard very very few players dared to try. But the community is so bad in Aion in general I don't see how this could be doable. I know it's too late but a PvE / RP Server would have been nice. Although some skills require you to actually earn pvp points to purchase/slot-in, I dunno how they could have done this. |

Well social interaction is omnipresent in Fallen Earth, this is a game with "potential" in a sense that you kinda have to look over the tutorial and basic mechanics. Let's just say that if you can experience the game for what it is, it will grow on you. The game is devoid of theme parks, so later on if you don't socialized it will not keep you hooked. |

It's a small company tackling a big project, for what its worth, they did a tremendous job. -They didn[object Window]t just copy&paste -They introduced original mechanics to the genre -Didn[object Window]t take the easy road and do a mmo clone -They didn[object Window]t get the news and ad coverage that big companies can afford -They been improving the game a lot since launch That brings me to the point, with such talented and devoted team, what would happenned if they had the same budget as other major? -Fold and do what every major companies are doing? Reduce risk and protect investment -Go to 11? Who knows, one thing for sure, with companies like Blizzard which can take up to 3-4 times the developping cycle for a product that is polished but the same level as others, get tons of coverage and call it a success, you can rest assure other will follow. Stacraft 2 a revelation? AH! Mechanic wise it[object Window]s sub par to most RTS out there, but the Blizz media machine and polished product turn it into [object Window]super[object Window] RTS all of a sudden. |

You PVE queens should be afraid. New rift changes!

Originally posted by Sukiyaki Well not my personal opinion, but... After asking around within the CM community I found out that the financial report was never published in english and this is from a translation. Even after reviewing the whole report and even if later it is translated into F2P model with cash shop, the translation should read current model with cash shops. Basically plan was to open shops because of possible new/returning players and use this to create a new income. I only pasted part of the report I really didn't feel like browsing through again and only provided the microtransaction. But it doesn't matter at this point the report was lost in translation. Sorry about the confusion I didn't translate this myself, nor I could. |

Originally posted by Shatter30 Says who? LOL Seriously NCSoft last Q2 financial report says they are going F2P with microtransaction, it's in the report, it's not an answer I pulled out of my arse. Shatter30 don't mean to bash on your answer, next time google it up instead of replying your personnal opinion into an official reply. As for higher subs... You are dead wrong again, just google it up. Cliffnotes:

Fallen Earth: Quarantine of Monkeytown
News Discussion « General Discussion 12/08/10 10:52:03 AM
It's a mean to an end. Icarus Studio is actually building tools for game and 3D world building deployment. So every time they tune upgrade their corporate product the game benefit from, since it's built from the same engine. The good thing about this? It benefit to the players as well as the company and doesn't require the same player base as your average mmo. |

I find it funny each time someone mention Aion and PvP in the same sentence. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Aion is a bad game or anything, and sure there is plenty players interaction. But PvP is pretty much limited to, locking your target (using tab or right-click) and then make sure your target is in range and activate your timers in a the right order. I'm sorry but in Aion it all boils down to Gear vs Gear, then using your timer in the right order, at equal level when you crush your opponent under 3 seconds where is the tactical element? I think the RP in MMORPG stands for illusion of PvP, where you make up a story in your head about how the combat went down, when in reality you just right-clicked a toon and pressed your timer and killed it under 3 seconds leaving your opponent w/o even one second of retaliation. An siege... You group up with a swarm of players, and TAB target as many as possible, use all your timers and hope you get enough points to register so you get your fort AP's and money. There are a lot of interesting stuff in Aion and a lot of promising ideas, but PvP ain't one of them. |

Nice changes, light occlusion is more apparent, also very interesting to learn that this was acheived through mapping technique than redoing the textures. Grats! |

Why not just re-launch TabulaRasa and call it TabulaRasa Redux, add a few more zones and voila... Sorry for being cynical, but I don't see how this game is gonna pull a different market crowd than what TR did and sadly failed, unless the publisher is actually aiming for a small market share with cheap continuous development... I dunno seriously. |

No they have a deal online which include the game, a month sub and an in-game item. https://www.fallenearth.com/buy 19.99$ includes 30 days + your trial time |

Another free month - but is it really 'unfinished'?
General Discussion « Final Fantasy XIV 11/16/10 5:59:32 PM
Originally posted by mannyman TBH it's the last part that had me smile, this is my thought exactly. How many of those mmo's a year later after release suffers from the same problems... I mean come on if it was unfinished it would actually get around the flaws a year later, but they are not, and let's be honest few do. AoC was a good example if you ask me. There is something that really bug me, along the same lines. "It's the publisher fault!" Yeah right... I can see a publisher pressuring a developpers but, how many years do you need to complete this title? How about project manager sleeping? How about a ship without a captain? Warhammer online is one of the many example out there of a ship without a captain, Vanguard, Matrix online... |
