I have my eyes on Aion, Huxley, and The Chronicles of spellborn... now i realize that Aion is a slightly fancier WoW immitation, but as I have been retired from WOW for a year now, I wouldnt mind playing a better version of that game modle. If the PVP snadbox is good in Huxley then that would rock, but the market is plagued with false promises, delays and cuts that I just cant inviest any faith in companies. As for spellborn... will it ever be realased in America before i go gray? these 3 games have been pushign back relase dates since 2007... so idk... im just like wheres the damn qualitiy games out there??? I mean will i have to keep screwign around in CoX and UT3 for another year or two until Champions or STO comes out? Am i going to wake up one morning from a druken stupor and find that I've busted the seal open on a LotR box? I mena I only thought I was attracted to Blue elves... not those pink skins. Eww. IDK, its startign to look like Im going to have to venture back out in the real world and start going on like dates again or something to pass the time... So messy. |

You can have more fun in a less amount of time in COH - COV. More importantly, its usually more consistant fun. Both games (and all games) have a big repetition factor that gives diminished returns, and you can reach the threshold guicker in COH onyl because youre not spending an entire night in one instance for months on end. I must confesss i like WOW pvp better because your enemy isnt constantly zipping around with super speed or endlessly leaping in circles around sky scrapers or hiding near police bots. PVE in COH is so much fun and dynamic for many of the power sets and im always curious to try out new ones. I only love 2 WOW classes. In COH i love most of the power combos. Of course its a matter of taste, like all things, but WOW will usually leave you unfulfilled and feeling like youve wasted your time. |

i should hope people realize that PVP formats in MMOs develop over time and you wont get a super duper developed in depth pvp system at a games initial release. Since lots of folks play WOW, i'll use that as an example. You can track the pvp developments in a long line of WoW patches over the life of the game. World pvp events and tower capturing came after the standard 3 zones(WSG,AB and AV). Then the arena matches and more outdoor pvp towers came with the expansion. Siege weapons will be coming etc. The Spellborn team has revelaed so much in their dev journals about so many aspects of the game, and much of their plaing for release will be ready. Also, they allude to what sorts of content they are reserving for post release patches. I am sure they have many things on their tables for future content and only give us the tip of the iceburg. and i agree with the previous posts - and would much rather have a stable system than big hype and empty promises full of technical problems and limitations. |

Eaach of the numerous topics are interesting reads and very informative. Info about this game has only trickled into this site peroidcally and doesnt do it justice. The Chronicles of Spellborn has class.
General Discussion « The Chronicles of Spellborn 9/06/07 8:45:04 PM
Well stated, Wizgamer. The Chronicles of Spellborn was designed with such thoughtfulness to concepts that will advance the MMO genre and captivate the community. Eliminating time-skins like grinding weeks for armor upgrades that gives minimal stat bonues, and a introducing a combat system that relys on player ingenuity for sucess are only two of the many powerful features that this game offers. The flexibility and diversity of the combat system excites me the most. For starters is a manual targeting system; no more entering combat and then going afk to stir your tea or dive into a bag of cheetos! But to temper a potential twich player advantage they system ustilizes a rotating skill deck where you place the skills you want to use in a strategic sequence that will best serve your style of fighting. Furthermore, the skills and attacks you use can lead to powerful combo sequences that can devastate your opponents. I could go on and on, but check out any info on this game, and you can see for yourself

omg what horrible case of false advertising. ive played the preorder beta for a few weeks and im still waiting for something exciting to happen... rather i've stoped waiting and deleted the game from my pc. NO way im gonna pay $15/month for a revamped environment from Auto Assault, a no skill shooter, and boring missions. After reading articles and watching videos about the game you would expect something at least a few levels above a shoot em up grinder. SO much hype, so little substance. I dont care anymore. The industry is producing junk. Warhammer is going to be a joke, or already is a joke. Conan is, well... who knows when they will finnaly finish it. The only shining star on our horizon is The Chronicles of Spellborn! I cant wait for that amazing combat system to go live and dominate the genre. |
