General: Wood: Sellin' Beta and Pimpin' Box Sales
News Discussion « General Discussion 11/12/09 3:07:37 PM
good stuff im really glad to see you positions beign taken against controversial issues. this website, like any source of information should address real issues and not spew candy coated paid reviews all the time. It means much more to the community to hear somethign meaningful from the staff than from concerned forum posters. Everything posted gets turned into trolling/flame wars but the ignorant. Keep up the good work. Never comprimise integrity. |

General: Jon Wood: Your Sex: Prove It or Lose It!
News Discussion « General Discussion 10/29/09 11:42:13 PM
for ages ONLY men were allowed to portray women in stage performances all around the world, as being an actor was considered a man's role in society. needless to say what this company is doing is discriminatory to say the least. |

The 100 players per server is GENIOUS!!
General Discussion « All Points Bulletin (APB) 8/27/09 10:48:12 AM
Champions Online did the same thing. but at least give the APB managment their due credit for having the balls to be direct with teh public on this basic feature of the game. I read a lot of material over the entire life of the CO website and from various otehr sites, and not once did cryptic revela that they set up the game with only 100~ people interacting at one.
honestly, when the fuck did Massive turn into a grand total of 100? I suppose its when MMOs became glorified chat rooms for the unemployed and when teh console demographic breeched the PC world.
what ever, neitehr companies are getting my money. |

World of Warcraft: A Quick Look at the Hunter
News Discussion « General Discussion 8/07/09 9:01:36 PM
has it really come to this? A hunter PSA? I cant believe that there are no decent volunteer writers producing half interesting stories for this site to post instead of these silly content fillers. With 364 games listed you'd think there would be something mor einteresting to write about? But i guess not. epic yawn! |

Afther months of doing research on upcomming mmos I have decided I will be playing Mortal Online
General Discussion « Mortal Online 7/23/09 12:53:24 PM
sorry cant resist... but why do you say that you will be playing MO, then say that you havent found out much about it? I get the whole process of elimination thing that you believe to have processed yourself through, but it sounds like you may be forcing yourself to believe that MO is the right game for you. eitehr way i dont care, i just think people are funny creatures. so thanks for the laugh. |

1 most MMOs are easy. 2 if you cant solo most of the content in any of the games out there currently you are either: A one of those morons who face pulls/ charges into several groupings of mobs and yells HEAL ME HEAL ME all day long B someone who absolutely loves pure healing classes and cant spend points on offense C soemoen who does not want to be bothered with the A type player listed above D someone who has very slow mental and physical reflexes 3 Just because somethign is written in a web site article or forum dont take it as the truth. I mean look at dana masseys articles lol they suck and are mostly hypotheical BS that is merely content filler. I doubt most of the articles you read about video games are written by professional writer. And, if ther were professional writers/reportes with a sense of profesionalism and not write based on opinion or heresay, i truely doubt they would have the time to play MMOs. 4 If youve played CoX then you know it is easy and since its made by the same team... well you get the picture. 5 its a comic based game - they want to publish it for young kid sales so it cant be too difficult. granted the median age of gamers is 25 or whatever, you cant make a comic based game and not have it be acessible to young kids. i can go on but i keep getting warnings from the forum admins every time i open my mouth in these forums - so i will end with this... if you cant play a game its probably cuz you suck so get better and stop teh QQ |

read my thread here: http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/241582/Ill-tell-you-what-sucks.html or here: 1. The attack chains in Aion are not only smooth and tactically sensible, but you have the option to hit the power's key that initiated the chain again to execute the next power of the chain (instead of hitting additional keys.) This not only increases efficiency, but increases your attack speed (reaction time) as well as prevent setting off a wrong power durign the heat of battle and missing an opportunity. Of course you have the option to assign the additional chain powers to individual hotkeys and execute them at your own accord. You can activate another power instead of conituing along the chain as well. The next accessible chain powers also appear as flashing icons on the right side of your avatar toward the middle of the screen. You may select the one of these flashing icons with a mouse click instead of depressing a key for the same effect, the choice is yours. 2. The execution of powers or abilities are fast and right on the money!!! You will not experience any sluggishness or delay from hitting the key to hitting your opponent (quite unlike WAR for example.) Also, the global cooldown is very unobtrusive, barely noticable. 3. The abilities for each class are well thought out and provide a powerful combinations of tactics that make sense for your class. In many games I find that there are gaps in combat within a class which makes you dependant on another class to defeat certain foes. Aion closes this gap and provides each class with the necessary tools to survive many more situations than you would expect. What I mean is I wasnt left stranded waiting for the cooldowns of my most powerful maneuvers in order to feel like i was contributing to a fight. The time between various cooldowns are well situated so that you can protect yourself with crowd control maneuvers or buffs that are purposeful, instead of just hitting the same 3 attack keys to win a battle. 4. When I play the various classes, I feel like my character is executing a balance of maneuvers, much like in a martial arts film. In other words, the combat is not only fun, it is totally immersive! The Templars perform maneuvers that you would expect a knight to execute. The Chanter feels like a staff wielding magical monk. The Assasin dances to the music of death and destruction. Each of the classes has that particular feel you might be looking for as a soloist or contributing party member. As combat options become available to you through level progression, the feeling that your character gains important knowledge and tactics becomes more and more evident. New abilites empower your gameplay with a sense of expertise and survivability. I never felt like I was waiting for a certain level (or a certain power) in order to, then at that point, begin enjoying the game. From early on I am able to enjoy a fluidity of attacks and sensible progression of abilites. I cannot say this for many other games, nor the extent to which I have enjoyed the combat. |

What sucks is I dont see enough posts describing exactly how superior the combat system is in Aion. I will describe a few of the aspects that impress me the most, but feel free to contribute your experiences and perspectives on Aion's combat system. Share any details so that people seeking information about the game can get a good idea of what makes Aion stand out in a genre of Asian MMOs that many think can be all to predictable. If you want to present a contrasting perspectve thats fine, I just ask that we try to be respectful of each other's opinions and not let the point of the thread get lost in hostilities. 1. It is necessary to get to the heart of the matter of why we enjoy MMOs... and that is we seek amazing combat: combat that makes sense, combat that excites, combat that makes you want more! Aion delivers on combat. Thats what this thread is about. Thanks for reading :)

wow you are really stretchign it now... is ther really nothign else out there to waste your time on aside from writing randomly thought up ideas for MMO forums content? This article - no, this concept is so epic fail its not even funny! OMG did i just make a pun?
AAAANyway, what people think is funny today is different tomorrow. Comedy is relative to teh times.
just think of what some elements of a comedy MMO migth be if it were made some 3 or 4 decades ago... I can envision lots of racist and sexist and bigoted concepts that woudl be perfectly acceptable - but in to days world such comedy would not be tolerated. aside from the above - who gives a shit about being pwned by rick ashely or whever the fuck.
article = epic fali |

OP i must commend you on your atriculate post. There are many people that share your sentiments and concerns, however, they have the sense enough to ignore childish mentalities that are rampant on teh web. Those who chime in and attempt to ruin an atmosphere are immature losers who crave nothing more than attention at any cost. Often times the silent majority who enjoy MMOs regardless of loud mouth dorks, are pwning thier sorry asses in game left adn right. Regardless of their short comings, these brats do not control the fate of a game. Believing such woudl just inflate their egos. Immaturity only affects forum communities with regard to how often people will visit or botehr returning. When it comes down to paid in game time, the silent majoirity and forum lurkers take a stand. In conclusion - the ignore function is the best game feature ever invented! /guildkick is at a close second.

He won't find any better , unless you want to play craptastic games of LOTS of promise but no delivery. ---- Tell him he won't find ANY other MMORPG with these nice controlled fluid avatar moves. Tell him he will need to adapt to avatars with a "stick in their asses" and clunky unresponsive controls and movement. Tell him about the "real" mmo games are out there which will PROMISE things but NEVER deliver. Tell him his daddy wanted real massive world PvP games of 100 against 100 every night, but that daddy still waits for a new game that will have these promised things... while the son's been playing it all along. --- I think your kid has the right to be told the truth. Before he thinks you are filling out your savings in a spreadsheet every night in "playing" the "never leave the cockpit game"..... waiting for .... promised things. Perhaps the son has the intelligence of his mother instead of father's views....
