I hope Cataclysm consolidates factions

Faction Rep is the timesink Blizzard loves it not only keeps a player online and busy it also gives them a direction to work in .This however from my point of view as a casual gamer means I'm left with only a few hours a week to grind rep up through instance running and dailies (depending who you are grinding for). They won't change this system anytime soon if they make it easier then hardcore gamers which play a important part of the WoW makeup will complain that its too short & easy. With Cataclysm coming and no new continent to explore, the area they will focus on is faction rep now I'm not going to be too cynical here but my two cents are they will make it longer and hard with juciy gear at the end of it ,probally better than what we can get now with WoW but still longer and more complicated. I agree with you on consolidation & reduction but from a marketing viewpoint this would be a disaster and cause more bigger problems as they have to rush out more content once people grinded up the rep & content. Any case best area they can focus in regards to rep is the mission layout, If i worked for blizzard the one idea i think could really make faction rep fun is introducing scripted story lines and puzzles. Hell if i have to grind it I would want to see that some progress is been made other than seeing 15000/20000 [Insert Faction Rep here] everyday I log in. |

I’ve been considering returning to WoW after a long hiatus, but I am wary of the long grind to 80. Been a casual player I don’t really know what wotlk is like and would ask you lot would it be worth it returning to WoW again? I don’t keep up with the patch notes so I do have one to two questions I would like to ask. Are they going to implement exp for Battlegrounds and Arenas and what’s the situation like for casual gamers atm? I am a level 70 mage in WoW before anyone asks, thank you for reading this post. |

Though I should return if there was the shutting down of the servers it would be for me personally a pyrrhic victory in the end. I'd said my last good bye to peeps ingame and watched how the Nazi orientated board mods deleted good bye thread by me (which I might like to add had no whatsoever comments made by me or people to Combat Upgrade, come on getting to the level of deleting a thread like that is silly) frankly I don’t really honestly care now. Only thing I would be happy is if someone tied Smed to the SWG servers and then set on fire the building as they shut it down. |

Hello everyone I managed to play LOTRO as it was released and leveled my way up to 41 as a champion however I found the grind too insane which required nearly insane amounts of grouping plus little to do but wait in angmar trying to get groups for instances which never happened (Btw this was on the European realms) Throwing in the towel decided to quit just after Shores of Evendim patch. I've however taken a massive break and wanted to return back to LOTRO. However I’m currently wondering for those that stayed what advice could I be given and what major changes have happened. Any pointers to which realms are the busiest now or have activity on them and what changes have been made ingame would be appreciated.

To be honest what killed SWG off was the fact the developers listened to no one and from is this when problem after problem kept creeping up in SWG, (even now they only have begun to listen to players with these councils they're trying to set up in game) it also didn't help that they hired and fired developers during important stages. Anyone remember when Tiggs (Yes she was very shitty dev but hey got to give feedback to someone) got the axe during NGE testing and everyone was left without community rep with SOE refusing to even talk to the community. |

3/8/2011 One thing i learnt is this is matter of honor for SOE, rather than shutdown they will simply downsize and combine servers which will give them much more time and money than people think. AoE and Warhammer Online won't drasticly pull players from SWG, I still remember when WoW came out SWG had quite a good number of players it was only when CU came did numbers start to really downfall and people switched. It's still has life left in it just that SoE are moving the Devs and staff to other mmos.

A major problem is and I think someone can drag up the post here is John Smedley has stated there will never be a rollback as long as he's in charge, one thing I’ve learned about SOE is the fact they will never accept defeat even more with SWG as other companies such as blizzard have taken digs at SOE for the mistakes they made in SWG so its now a stupid matter of honour for SOE not to give up. My guess is even if numbers are or reach 10k player base they'll start to server crunch and combine servers until LA pull the plug or SOE hand SWG off to another company. |
