The older players (and the players with money) have too much power against the newer players who have to fight not only against experience but also better equiped enemies. To compensate, the matchmaking system will put those older players against a greater number of new players. The result will depend on the nature of the mission, if the new players can spawn fast enough to interrupt the older player's objective, all while getting slaughered. In general, the shooter part of the game is very poor, and the progression tiring and boring for all. |

I suppose this release will be limited to NA region, excluding the rest of the world, pretty much like they did with Mabinogi? |

Quite interested in it. But also, only two maps and playtime fee, on top of a 50€ pricetag... Waiting a few weeks. |

We had this in Tabula Rasa. It wasn't exactly manual aim, but a compromise. Autolock of the target infront, and capability to hold the lock from slight movement or shakes. It was fun but grew tiring fast. Somehow makes you reduce the time you play. And I couldn't write at all while out of camp base or walking, since you don't get any "free" moments to answer a pm or chat. On the other hand, it feels like playing a shooter and keeps you on your toes (i.e. you don't fall aslept). For the healers, to deploy direct heals was nearly impossible -specially when too crowded-, but the AOE and Cone heals were good enough on purpose. TR of course had other problems. I wonder if friendly fire could be implemented instead of keeping this kind of games ezmode. |

You can already buy characters, within game rules, for the purpose you want. Maybe someone else I don't care about has spent time switching skills (so much difficulty...). But for the person buying the characters it's all about a dent in the wallet and voilà. Shouldn't all of you quit alread? :p Please, at least show some consistency with your vote and the features offered already ingame. |

L2 is alliance vs. alliance warfare. Lots of politics and drama llama. It has place for smaller party gankage, and the Olympiads. In Aion, you don't choose who you fight along or who you fight against. It's Elyos vs. Asmodians. That's it. It's cool, until you realize you cannot fight against your stupid neighbor because he got to chose the same race as yours. Same drama llama within the faction, lots of quarrels about "why you didn't go to this siege to help the faction", "why did you take that fort", but you have to eat it up. It's completely different from L2 system, and you could get frustrated by it. IMO it's a step backwards, towards mindless gaming and away from virtual worlds and RPG. |

1.9 has increased the XP from quests substantially. Specially the repeatable quests for coins (before, it made you giggle). But the grind, even if barely shortened by this, is the same old mindless grind. They have added "energy of salvation". Which is let's you get bonus XP if you're too iddle while ingame. But I haven't seen it show up anytime. Another cool feature are the Illusion equipment (usable for 14 days). Unfortunately they are too expensive, and cannot socket manastones/enchant which makes it subpar. You're better buying cheap white/green stuff out of the AH for the leveling. Same for the conjunction of weapons, it's too expensive unless you consider your final endgame weapons. To junction a Green Book lvl 40 plus another white book of same level as secondary, it takes about 400.000 K. More expensive than the weapons themselves! The "suplements" to increase the chances of enchanting are cool too. But, again, freaking expensive. And enchanting cap has increased from +10 to +15. Only thing cheaper are the Soul Healer and transport bills, barely. The new "anti-stun" skill is also cool to counter the ganks. They have added a LFG interface, but it's too basic and barely used. That's all I can say about the 1.9 patch. A few improvements here and there, but nothing to make you resubscribe. |

If you spend 15-30€ a month in a F2P, it will be more than a decent power up. That is, supposing that game has an ill driven shop with +XP, +dmg, +def items. On the other hand, if you don't have much time to play, for example while on finals, or summer, you can still login occasionally while paying nothing. |

Why isn't Darkfall taking advantage of the current situation?
General Discussion « Darkfall 1/30/10 8:21:44 PM
There are intermediate solutions. For example, a trial by invitation from current subscribers, with limited keys. The thing is, most people who don't have friends or known people ingame won't hand 50€ just to try an indie game. |

What is going to happen to Lotro when...

Well, you have to go back to protect the Shire from Saruman, don't you? |

The default UI looks as good as WoW's, but zero customization. The pet UI is worse too, since it mixes pet's skills with yours, instead of providing an exclusive pet skill bar. But at the same time, it isn't necessary since all pets share skills (with different functionality depending on pet). It's good for me. But I expected something more instead of a vanilla UI. And gettign into cusmoization and addons, what I really miss are all the cooldown alarms and indicators. When you have ten skills with 10s-30s CDs, it gets messy without any clear indicator. Then we could get into the 7 debuff limit, the lack of diminishing returns on CC, the use of pots to clear debuffs, etc... Again, it's OK. But I expected something more... elaborated. |

Spammers use stolen CCs or stolen accounts anyway, not like they hand over 35$ so happily. Doubt it makes any noticeable difference. What are the conditions of the referral program? max lvl7, only at the noobie zone, with limitations on pms or something like that. |

Instead of being so pessimistic, could be said it's been a lesson of humility for all those 'WoW killers' wannabes. It's one of the problems for a release based on hype, high number of boxes sold to game shops, followed by decline of population. I see lots of marketing involved at the high level too. WAR followed by WOTLK a months later. And Aion-West followed by 3.3. |

Aion: December Address Reveals Paid Services
News Discussion « General Discussion 12/29/09 11:44:33 AM
I'm surprised it's taking so long for NCSoft-West. The thing is, these features are already ingame. They just need to give you the tickets for it. Looks like the winter event will be really shallow, with just some XP weekends, some poor decorations, and a piano at the city. |

As ranger, the SMs are pancake to kill with sleep and silence arrows. The thing about fear is that the target can keep taking damage without breaking it, which makes players nerdrage about not being able to control their char. It's not much different to assassins stunlocking you, for example. SMs had other good 'class' spells, as Wing Root and instant summon, but these spells got nerfed so much, out of the key bar. At the end you have a debuffer class made around the fear spells. Heck, it doesn't even have a 'filler nuke' to use between debuffs. |

Market is full of bad games, so I shouldn't really care. I'll mention Aion as worst buy, since I played the beta and first month. It tried to pull a mindless grindfest as P2P game. It also suffers a lot from the pay-by-the-hour model from Korea, which adds lots of time and money sinks just for the sake of it. There is no reason to play Aion instead of L2 other than the shiny graphics. Another title to mention is Mabinogi. Because of licensing contracts, the access is limited by region. Looks like now, after years, nexon will open an European server. This limit goes straight against the internet freedom of access, and don't like how corps think they can get away with it. |

File a petition for hacked account. This kind of petitions usually take priority. But you must write it formally and with as much information as you can; nothing as your flame post here. If you don't get an answer in a few days, call them. Also make sure to identify and cleanse the trojan/keylogger in your computer, or you won't solve anything. Identify the source, where you got the trojan from, and patch that whole. This part of the end is your own responsibility. |

Only if it was ffa or clan vs. clan, I would sub right now. Unfortunately, no matter how much housing, pets, skills, gfx they code in, the focus of the game is pvp and I cannot stand forced faction pvp anymore. Just for the housing it deserves a subscription, imo... |
