It doesn't lock every log in, just that one patch. If it is locking you you are either logging in from different computers/ISP's or you have a security issue.

I wish I was always coin locked. If I ever wanted to conduct a transaction it is easy enough to unlock. Some people just complain about everything.

It doesn't really matter. No matter which platform future MMO's are made for they will still be a half assed under invested POS rushed out to make a quick buck.

I guess if its on a console it at least has to be approved by Sony/Nintendo/MS to get released so it will be less buggy. So thats probably why so few MMO's are released on consoles....they actually have to work to be released.

Thread title says it all. I love the game except the whole aim to shoot, switching weapons etc. Put in a traditional MMORPG combat system and I'm there. I suck at twitch games thats one of the reason MMORPG's appeal to me and this one is a bastard child hybrid of a FPS and MMORPG and does neither one well.

Oh well

I have to agree with the OP. This game has many of the features sandboxers are crying for. It doesn't do them perfect and it is not a pure sandbox but it is a decent themepark/sandbox hybrid. probably the closest people are going get.

Let's not forget that a mouse and keyboard are 100X better at FPS games which is mostly what consoles are about these days.

Also the current gen of consoles are so f'ing expensive how can anyone say PC's are more expensive. Well maybe they are if you are buying pre-built off the shelf crap like Dells but if you build your own you can get something way more powerful for way less. By the time you buy a PS3, X-box 360 and a Wii because for some reason console gamers have to have all of them.

last if they made the kind of games I like on consoles than maybe I would buy them.

Lets go over some key points we can surmise by going to the Old Republic Forums and reading the Dev Blog.
1: Gear Based.

Great!

2: Themepark.

Sounds good

3: Easy PVE content.

Sucks but what game doesn't have this now.

4: Carebear PVP content.

I don't care about pvp. If I wanted a pvp i would play one of the dozen or so other pvp based games that are a fail. This phenomena has caused me to assume that pvp games just don't work.

5: Lore will get tossed aside for end game Progression.

LOTRO stuck to lore heavily and look what that got them. Do what they need to do to keep the game fun..
6: Crafting will be bad or non existant.

I don't care about crafting.

7: Class balance is going to be laughable.

So you say, time will tell.

Thats just a few but honestly other than being Star Wars, what will the game offer that WOTLK doesn't already have?
A themepark with no crafting, bad class balance issues, Over the top progression loot and Burst issues, Soft or easy Raid content and bad PVP balance. ITs not just going to be a themepark the PVE and PVP content will be laugable.
I mean can you think of a reason OTHER than it being Star Wars to play this game?
I have been on the Forums over there since 08 and the only meaningful Dev posts are a interview reassuring Ensidia the game will have heavy raid content, and some blog posts about how exited they are over the loot drops, and if you watch any of the videos, the combat looks a rediculously one deminsional auto attack system.

This review is pretty accurate. I will be really surprised if Blizzard doesn't sue the crap out of them. I know most MMO's copy a lot of things from other games, but it is so blatant that Alganon copied WoW directly it is hard to ignore for many of us. If it was just one or two things I would keep my mouth shut, but the UI the art style, the zones climates and looks, combat and character mechanics are all so similair - and I could name more.

I also find having only four classes and two races vbery limiting and lazy. Firts of, the two raaces theyd o have look pretty damned similair. That might not matter to some of you but it does matter to some of us. I don't need 20 some races like Vanguard but more than two would be nice. Four classes is weak too, and while I know you can specialize it doesn't make up for the lack of variety.

I never had issues with the performance but I have a nice custome built computer that most people won't have. The graphics still looked like crap however.

Overall I think this game makes WoW look even better.

I have said this for a while. It needs to take longer to get to end game. I am not advocating making the "grind" longer to hide the flaws in your product. If the game is unfinished or unpolished it won't matter how long it takes to get to end level.

But it needs to take longer for several reasons. It gives time for the community to grow. Probably only 10% of the community will hear about or jump onboard a game upon release. If a population reaches endgame in 3 months or less than the game becomes "old" before it even gets a chance to become popular.

Also, remember devs makemoney of sub fees, if people are maxing out in 1 month than the development company can't collect those fess to use in improving the game. of course some companies may just milk it, but if they are samrt they will reinvest that money to improve their product. This means more content for us players.

T make a game take longer I suggest they just make leveling slower (or add more levels). If don't think people will mind slower leveling if the content is interesting such as quests that tie into story arcs, interesting zones, etc.

Also stop hand feeding us telling us exactly where to go. WoW clone style games aren't hard when most of your quests are kill x wolves, collect x wolf pelts etc. Stop telling us exactly where to go on top of it. Give people a challange and have some hidden quests hubs in the game.

I think the problem arises because the developer & publisher mechanic that exists in the game industry is broken. Anyone who is familair with how the industry works knows that a deveopment company makes a game and a publisher finances them and handles the marketing and slaes of the box and disk. Developers typically employ a bunch of non-experienced underpaid young adults who work 70 hours a week because making a video game is cool. So many people get burned out that a lot of good talent leaves the industry(or never enters in the first place).

Meanwhile the publisher who is financing the operation wants to earn a huge return but are unwilling to finance the 50-100 million dollars and wait five that a AAA MMORPG requires to compete. They are also unwilling to take a risk on a smaller niche market so nothing innovative gets produced.

Add to all this a lack of goo design that new games seem to have - in other words lets copy WoW but not even do that right because developers can't figure out what made WoW successful.

If you look at Blizzard, and the interview that MMORPG did on the front page you can see the differences. Blizz has a large staff of experienced game developers who enjoy working for the company - so it means their guys aren't getting burned out. This experience is directly evident in the products they release(not just MMORPG's).
Blizzard also has deep pockets and they are willing to spend the time and money it takes to release a quality game.

Now I am not saying WoW didn't have problems on release or still does but it blew away other game launches when it was released. Other games have launched smoothly since then, WAR and LOTRO come to mind but they still lacked polish in their overall game play.

I don't know if FE is as the OP claims as I am waiting on this one, but I believe we will continue to see mediocre MMO's being released as long as the broke ass development cycle of games continues.

Did you unlock all the perks, costume pieces, finish all the quests/PQs/instances?

Perks is not content, and technically it's impossible unless you get every single type of damage to get all perks in game. some are missable so ya.
But i have a level 36, and 4 level 20+ chars, the other peoople i play with are in same boat. There's a serious lack of content, but regardless i'll still give it time to grow (not like there's much else out there to play). Aion is okay, but not something i'd play more then a couple hours a week, i played beta and was getting bored after 1h of playing it. Tried Fallen Earth, same issue lack of content at least when i played beta (i'll wait a couple month for that one).
But i figure this and Aion and other RPG/FPs comming out in next several months will keep me busy until something else comes out.

So you have gotten 126 levels total in a couple of weeks? In a few more you'll have some maxed out characters unless you have to grind to the top, which I hear you do.
Regardless it won't be long before you are maxed out and bored.

Companies have got to stop making it so qwuick to level in these games, its shooting themselves in the foot. When they charge a mointhly fee and they want to you to play for many many months what sense does it make to allow people to level so quickly? I realize most people think they want to get to end game quickly because that is where the "real game" starts but that mentality is killing the genre.

Anyway my point is, as long as games are released that let you hit max level in the first month there will not be a block buster success. developers will never be able to update content fast enough to keep a large player base satisfied and playing. Until a game out that is enjoyable to level, is somewhat challenging, and takes a 6-9 months to max out for the average player we will continue to see midly successful games9at best).

This post was so devoid of intelligence I think I am actually stupider for having read it.

I'm on the fence about FE but it seems this guy just has an ax to grind. What a bunch of nitpicky BS listed as the reason this game sucks. OP - playing WoW as your first MMo does not qualify you as a veteran MMO'er.

Mediocre? You're being generous. I would kill to play a mediocre MMO.

Thats why you never piss off the healer.

Thought it came out already? Didn't they name it  Warhammer?

Right on the spot.

WAR was their sequal to DAOC, just watered down and they got lazy and only made two factions.

As long as mythic is owned by EA I won't play any game they make.

I've booted people out of groups/raids because a better player or class came along. I usually feel bad doing it but sometimes you have one open slot and in order to get the healer in the group you need to invite his buddy. Or you just have too many damned <insert flavor of the week class here> in your group and a better class wants to join your group.

Of course when I boot someone for being a complete tool I don't feel bad at all.

I'm looking for a good pve themepark style game. I detest grinders and while I do enjoy pvp its not my sole focus. Plus every game that puts pvp as the main focus seems to go down in flames so I have just given up on that.

However, while I want pve I would like it to be a little more difficult than what has been thrown at us letely. I believe it is possible for someone too make a successful WoW clone that is more difficult and more group oriented than vanilla WoW was. There are a lot of newbie MMO players that cut their teeth on WoW and are now looking for more of a challenge.

However all the new game released have been even easier than WoW and they have bombed, I think its becasue most people, despite what they say don't want a game too easy.

What AAA developer can make a decent MMO of any type? Who out there has made a game that can sustain 200K subs a year after launch? Not many. Forget about drawing in 500k or more.

Now you ask why no one makes a sandbox? The developers out there have no clue how to make a MMO of any type. No one has a clue except Blizzard. Its a real shame.

No its not a good thing. These games cost tens of millions of dollars to develop. To recoup the costs the devs need to sell boxes and get subscriptions. If people get to end game quickly, they get bored and quit. The don't keep paying their monthly fee and the company can't recoup their money. That makes it harder to create new content and fix existing issues as they have to strip their staff.

A lot of games have released and they have had no problems selling boxes but they can't keep their subs. While the majority of this reason is because the game sucks part of the reason is also that people are maxing out their characters in 90 days or less.

They get bored of doing the same endgame content and devs can't create content fast enough to keep them happy.

Players are also getting bored becasue the game is too damned easy and its no challenge. Of course so many people bitch and whine that they want an easy game b/c they have a "life" and they don't want to devote their life to a game and they should get the lame loot as everyone else b/c they pay their fee liek everyone else.

But I think this is just another example of people not knowing what they want. Yea it may be easier but its also more boring - so they quit.

So in conclusion:

Make the games harder and make it harder to level!!!

More people will play!!!

Stop catering to the casual whiners as this isn't where your market is really at. These casuals aren't leaving WoW no matter what you make. These people are gonna jump on whatever bandwagon everyone else is on. So many game released in the last few years has been easier than WoW and they flop - stop repeating the same stupid mistakes.

The most important thing to make pvp good is strip away all that other pve crap hat pvp'ers don't want. Pvp'ers want to pvp not kill mobs so lets get rid of leveling to 50 by killing mobs and doing stupid quests. You should level by killing players, by taking keeps or towns. Quests, if we go the quest route, should be a quest to kill x number of players or capture the landmark.

The current systems on putting pvp into a pve system is like trying to force a sqaure peg into a round hole. The pve'ers get a half baked experience and they are there just to be ganked. the pvpers are forced to grind through boring quests and what not that they aren't interested in.

Looking for some feedback on which of these I should try. I can't afford to play both right now unfortunately.

They both look pretty similair especially combat wise.

Earthrise seems to have better graphics where Fallen earth seems to have a better story, more like a true post-apocolyptic world and the faction system looks nice.

I'm not into Aion or Champions Online so please don't even mention those.
