I think people should stop criticizing the game at this point. It's getting sad. Yes, Bioware dun goofed and the game failed. But let's not kick a piece of garbage themepark WoW clone when it's down. Just leave it be and let it fade into obscurity.

Out of curiosity, which game(s) (MMOs) are you playing.

I got a warning for my post on how I feel sorry for themepark players, and it was removed.  yet this one remains? Interesting

...

What's wrong with liking themepark?

Skyrim less buggy?  Is this serious?

There was like 100+ people on DK the other day.  Of course, this was empire side.

whatever...

Improvements that will save this game:

1. 3rd faction. Mandalorians maybe?

2. Different playable races. I'm thinking Wookie's, Jawa's and Droid's.

3. Full scale bi-weekly invasions of different worlds that your faction can "own" for different bonuses.

4. PvP in space Dogfights.

5. Cross server queues or server merges

6. Lower the global cooldown on skills making the combat faster.

7. Give us an actual REASON to want to craft. Right now it's utterly useless.

8. Give PvP stats to all levels starting at 10 and teir the levels.

3, 4 and 7 are already being worked on.  Well, at  least in regards to 3 they've already said they are working on having dynamic events happen in the world, whether that's invasions or someting else we don't know yet.

Agree with 1 and 2.

Disagree with 5 and 6.

Uh...space is on rails, is it not? How exactly are they going to work PvP on rails into the game?

/shudder

Space is CURRENTLY on rails.  You really think it'll be like that forever?  They already said they are working on a big update to the way space combat is done in the game.

Rule of thumb:  when something is in game, assume it will be there until they say it won't, and show you what the alternative is.

The rail shooter thing is an embarassment though.

^This

Rule #1 for MMO promises/hype: Don't believe it until you see it in game.

Space on rails ain't going anywhere. And yes, truly an embarassment. Star Wars? Space on rails? Whoever thought that was gold should be fired immediately, if they even still have a job.

I know, could you image if SWG had launched without space combat?  It never would have become one of the best parts of the game if it wasn't in there right at launch.

Are you saying space was launched day 1?

I like the way it is.

If i want to solo, i will do my class story (awesome)

If i want to group, i will do FP or OP with guildmates.

What's wrong with that?  I challenge you to point to me what is wrong with this!

So they are actually listening

Champion bags now always contain 15 Centurion Commendations and 7 Champion Commendations, and the chance to obtain a direct trade item token has been reduced. Battlemaster bags now always contain 15 Champion Commendations.

Full patch notes: http://www.swtor.com/patchnotes/1.1.2/272012

Of course they are listening.  Why wouldn't they?

to OP.

Of course it is.  It's a game changer.  Pay attention to what Blizzard will do next.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with this. After getting my first character to 50 and PVP'ing (lol Ilum lol 3 WZ's lol BM bags) I decided to roll an alt. I made it to 45, and even told myself that I'd stop to smell the roses and explore/datacron hunt while I leveled.  I just can't get myself to log on right now. I'm pretty certain that pure themepark MMO's are just not my thing anymore. There isn't one thing I can point to and say why TOR got so boring after I hit level cap the first time. The game just feels very "meh" to me.

I actually went and bought FFXIII-2 and have been playing that.

Good for you man!  LOL

As a player of SWTOR ive stated before that i feel this game is mediocre at best. And i can only see the game will entertain me for a few months. My highest lvl char is 37 a jedi counceler. And i found that the gameplay and story wasnt all that great. So i created a trooper and lost a bit of intrest at lvl 11!!!. I then made a jedi knight and went a bit on the dark side with him and found him a bit more entertaining than the two first. So dark side eh? I then went and created a BH my favourite profession from SWG. The story and abilities so far is much better than the others so far(But i hear that the BH story is bugged?) And im locked to the empire and no player bounties!!! I guess smugglers suffers from same.....

To be honest all in all the story telling just dont seem all that good to me. In conversations i choose one answer and get a response from my char that doesnt really seem to fit? Story seems shallow and not that interesting. Really the story telling in LOTRO, both main quests(books) and side quests entertains me a lot more, and that without VO.

So my question is. can future content be created so that players will have more power on how the War in Star Wars will evolve? Will new planets be wide open spaces that can be fought over? Space battles between players starfighters and/or capital ships?

With 100-200 mill invested in this there just got to be more....

Welcome to the first iteration of an MMO.

keep in mind that people whinning over here are not making up even .5% of swtor player base.  And some people saying how bad it is probably never played it.

The majority of people who have some gaming experience in MMOs and played TOR.. can't have liked it for very long... and by long I mean they stay for the story... or less.

I say the majority because there's people who like it obviously... but the game offers hardly anything new and what it does offer it doesn't offer very well.

There's a list of games that do things better than TOR.

It really is simple as that.... try and distinquish it from the brainless game-bashing some people exercise.

I play MMO since open beta of UO.

Swtor is the best mmo i played to date.  Maybe it's because i'm 32 now... who knows.

He summed up everything he was going to say in the first few mins when he said "Perfection is Warcraft."  It's quite evident that he is a mega WOW fanboy from watching this.  Additionally, there was already a thread about it weeks ago.

He gives valid arguments on what WoW does better then SWTOR.  He played SWTOR wanting to like it and wanting to see it succeed.  Ignoring his valid arguments makes you a SWTOR fanboy.

I never ignored his arguments, but he needs to redo the video without talking about WOW.

Oh I'm sorry - I shouldn't compare SWTOR to WoW because SWTOR is a unique little snowflake that developed all of its ideas by itself.

How old is wow now?

How old is swtor?

There was some debate before the game released about how replayable the game is, ie. by my definition how fresh and interesting a second or third character is.

I have played 4 characters past level 20 on the same faction.  I have played to characters past level 30 and one past level 40.

The replaybability is terrible especially if your first character was a stealth class that can skip fights.  Every single character will wind up doing the exact same quests in the same area almsot 90% of the content will be shared extactly the same.  The only 10% difference is the class quests of which you will do roughly 1-2 per level after leve 15 o 16.

If you solo the game and stealth past some fight you must do almost every single quests that exists.  If you solo and don't skip you will need to do about 90% of the quests.

Obviously if you grind instances you may do less or possibly none at all.

The only variation that exists is in light/dark side choices/companion reactions.  And in the end simply by playing one light side and one dark side you have basically seen all there is to see except the small portion of quests that is the class quest (which is far too slow to develop to justify griding through the same quests a third time).  Compaion reaction is novel and all but in the end only matter from a roleplaying perspective anyway as gifts is the way to go if you have seen it all before.  And frankly that is extremely meager picking unless you are really into the role play part.

Seems like you a playing every mmo out there.

At least this one, you can say there's 8 different stories.

Man I'm really enjoying myself in swtor.  I don't feel any pressure.  It's so nice so quests through an epic story.  i just got my surname and looking forward to all the cool things that comes with the legacy system when it's implemented.

Best game since EQ.

What a load of crap SWG (from day 1) was when you think about it... haha.

When i think back... SWG was one of the worst MMO I played.

Nothing to do.......

I see it like this:

There was UO and there was EQ

UO was "sandbox"

EQ was "Theme Park"

Blizzard looks at a bunch of games

-UO

-SWG

-EQ

They decide to go with EQ and "iterate" on it.  Nothing wrong with that.

I give up some people are just too hard headed to get it.

Even if they did sell 2m which they " can not " confirm, they promised investors much much more.

See the problem?

Investors have lost confidence and are dumping shares, it takes those investor dollars to pay for game expansion.

All those big promises Bioware has made need to be paid for, I know some of you think that those expansions and added content are paid for by your monthly subscriptions but you would be greatly mistaken.

Development even after market development, is VERY expensive and takes investor capital. If you lose investor confidence well it has happened before..

Then the news about EA stock increasing is good news!

So I'm curious, I can't help but notice that even on Torhead they aren't really giving notice about which bugs or missing features might be fixed/implemented on which patches? Wouldn't this information be most welcome by the community? Or is that located elsewhere?

I'm curious because i'd like to find out more about it to see when it would be most fitting to possibly purchase it.

Not BioWare official announcement, but even if it were, a developer can't predict the future date when a bug will be fixed. To say otherwise is to admit ignorance of coding at its core.

It's an idea of what might be...

Also, development studio are planning what they will work on and create a priority list of bug fixing.  I know, i work in one.  So... that's what they are planning to do.  Nothing wrong there.

I suppose that vgchartz wasn't that far off....

Now it's official.  2 million copies sold.
