p..s AoC is nice game worth trying out and doing some of the content so take it as a mutliplayer game that you can spend a month or max two in it .. dont expect some long term appeal.

If you are into PvE Crom is the best choice, however if you want to expiriance full thrill on FFA servers then join Fury.

AoC you can hang around a guard, PvE server, or levels 20-75 do to anti ganking and play saftely.

I think you are really confused guards wise. 

Guards are postioned next to merchants and zones enterances, you do not do quests there.

So you enter the zone or go to city to get or return quest yes guards are near, you move 100m away and you are free prey that will be kicked, you move 2000m away to mobs you need to kill well you can guess. 

 

Darkfall due the items loot most of players with good equip on will avoid PvP.

Yeah same as Aion BUT AoC has zero penalties and the majority avoid PvP.

Please get free trial account and make char on Fury start doing tortage quests and lets me know how many times you died from level 1 to 20.

AoC you cant even do quests as you will be killed on every step and its basically like RvR game just that everyone is RED to you and every one can kill you everywhere. The only safe zone are 3 major city hubs where you cant do any PvE. 

Nah there are level restrictions and guards all over, which I don't get as there is zero death penalty...compared to Warcraft where you can get killed anywhere and have to retrieve your corpse that is probably being camped and take a small PvP durability hit or any other game, if you die in Aion u lose many PvP points.

lol again with the guards, i think i know whats the problem here, you are reading official forums where people complain about guards without really looking whats the issues.

When it comes to doing quests or leveling no guard will help you as they are NOT there.

Now you have players PvPing NEXT TO THE GUARDS so when they are in danger to jump to guards to protect them. If those players move 100m away from the enterance even guards wont save them.

 

You can compare AoC like being in Eve in 0.0 space without belonging to any corp aka people that find you will try to kill you.

Nah you can't compare AoC to PvP games because AoC restricts PvP, heck the best they have is minning world objects for PvP points on hours on end.

Restrict PvP in what way ?  There are basically no restrictions,

In Eve Online concords will kill you in hig. securty space way way way faster then any guard will in AoC.

You can kill people standing in front of 4 guards that will start hitting you, please do that in Eve 1.0 space.

 

AoC have most of PvP but how meaningfull is that PvP thats completly other story.

AoC definetly doesn't have the most compared to the games he listed AND warcraft, guild wars, Aion, probably everquest 1 and 2 have more today than all of AoC.  Think about it, the developers did nothing for two years and an expansion to enable PvP and did many things to disable it in AoC.

 RvR brings so called meaning, when it comes to FFA game true meaning blend away.

As for AoC winning over WAR well the difference is Funcom will stay behind the game even if it dropsto 500 subs and end up having 1 server while everyone else will just close down the servers as soon as they drop bellow 50K subs. 

Yeah AoC is probably close to 50k subs, but the slow development cycle shows they are not developing as much..3 patches all last year and patch 1.05 was the only big one and many found it horrible and said it ruined PvP by making gear meaningful which I think is fine but dumbed down combat to rid skill.   After the expansion most likely staff will be diverted to TSW or laid off so the development will be even slower.

Regarding subs have no comment, I can tell you Fury EU is over populated atm.  Patches wise we had 7 since december 2009 so not really sure out of where you pulled number 3. 

 Age of Conan atm is a great game that still have some major issues when it comes to mass PvP and Sieges.

Well it isn't a PvP game at all for one thing, can PvE compare to other PvE games...I'm not sure it can. It is mostely a casual PvE MMO do to a lack of content. I'm not sure there is a quarter of the PvE content in AoC's expansion as seen in the first LOTRO expansion, WoW's TBC, EQ 1's velious, or  I think EQ2 had a lot but I started late so wasn't sure which expansion was which. My point is it needs quality and quantity now in order to not lose those casual subscribers to KOTOR which seems like a casual MMO and we have watched the plummet of subscribers after any other MMO comes out and they never seem to return.

Well shitload of people left AoC vent for Aion and guess what they are back in AoC and this time with some of their Aion friends.

when you say L2P that is so funny to me, i played that game since beta and new all the ins and outs to all the glitchs and hacks in that game, you probably just have no clue how bad it really is.

Showing invisible players should still work as its just a flag in memory that character is transparent and it should work in ALL MMO's that have stealth chars.

Buff stacking was bug where player would buff him self then reset his feates and take skill again and use buff and here NO 3rd party app was needed and you 3rd party app could not do that anyway as its serverside.

Completing raids was possible until they added check if character is glitching over walls and running to fast, now if you do that and yes 3rd party application will allow you to go thru wall bud in next second server will rubber band you back.

All iam saying is that in 90% of cases when people scream cheater is only because they lack the skill to play their character,

I have to give you fans of the game credit where credit is due. You have a lot more patience than I have LOL. Maybe one day thery can get it below 150ms which is what I consider the most lag playable in a FPS. I am sure you guys have narrowed it to the server and already dropped your client side graphics to  minimum.

 I was away for 1 year and in that time they did some good optimization GFX wise as a year ago i played everything on minimum and had like really bad FPS now I play almost maxed and the only thing that i change are particle effects for everyone except my raid and I also put particles on low ... currently having between 25 to 35 FPS when all 96 players clash eachother.

However you have bar in AoC that show your current latency and my normal one is between 35 to 50 on public maps but in siege that now goes to 400 to 800ms. On public maps i get to up 100-120 when we are have around 30-40 members and clash against some other bug group with same ammount of players.

So server side lag is confirmed as when those latency spikes occure every one have them so its not client side aka it does not matter what ISP you use etc...

It seems shitload of packets are getting lossed in sieges and like i said 400 to 800ms is far from good latency, when they achieve that all players have less then 150 ( assuming their normal latency is between 50 to 80) then we can consider things fixed but not before.

Fixing siege crashes ( if they are really fixed we will see next few days ) is step in right direction, especailly cause before I left a year ago we did a lot of sieging and no one crashed but back then we all have FPS and latency problems.

So siege wise 2 out of 3 things may be fixed maybe another year and 3rd one will be fixed too, one can only hope :)

p.s. On medium and low populated servers they dont have those problems. ( as far as i read on forums )

Basically its like when people complained about Skill tree's how some classes suck and how some have way better ones.

The link you gave was one guy QQ about it at RoTGS open beta you will find more people crying about it :)

 

p.s. If they are smart they will make client free of charge at expanion so all you need is free trial + sub if you want to play it. ( same model as Eve Online have and also WAR switch to it. )

Why people even bother with expansion release date ?

Dont be one of those guys that resubscribe the game cause expansion is "coming soon" ... just wait and resub ( if you are interested in aoc exp. ) when its out for minimum of 7 days, by then you will get shitload of info how good or bad it is.

If you are patient wait for at least a month after release as i doubt it will take much longer to get reports about 99% of the added pve content.

My wish is that expansion is released asap so they can start dealing with other major problems game have like server side lags in mass pvp and siege crashes. ( as far as i know this mainly happens on Fury EU due over population as for other servers they are runing much smoother )

Speculation wise expansion should be out in May and if that deadline is missed then they should wait till september/October. 

Selling games during summer/vacation time is bad move.

We have quite few members in beta and so for things looks really great: new zones and PvE stuff.

The new alternate advancement and perk system loook great but our guys could not really test it yet. ( it takes time to get that )

Sorry but this is one big bullshit.

People whine about 3rd party apps mainly because they just need to l2p.

When it comes to 3rd party cheats people have no clue how things works thats why so many get scamed by keyloggers etc..

There is a standard cheat (memory hack ) for most of MMO's incuding AoC that will allow you to move faster etc...

However you WONT do any more damage, you cant have more HP etc.. as all that is calculated server side.

Krewel they fixed that a lot, major problem now is server side lag aka red ping/latency.

One year ago I usually had 20 FPS during the siege and now I have 50 to 60 using exactly the same setting and same hardware.

As for gfx lag AoC did improve really a lot, last year I could not imagine playing with having shader 3 and everythign on high including shadows on ultra and now I have that, the only thing that i have on low are particles.

 

p.s. Last year people with decent PC's could play normaly, this year you can have uber machince and you will still have server side lag ( note: thats only on overpopulated Fury EU, other server seems dont have that shit )

Re rating would be valid after expansion is out, there is no need to re rate it now.

The thing is that majority of people that play the game will only have somethig positive to say and finaticd is getting his info from official forums. The fact is people whine a lot on official forums, however he can get some valid data there.

People like finaticd & jackdog care thats why the post here.

I know for sure Jackdog gave AoC few tries and he will probably continue to do so in the future, so far he was not impressed by changes and its his right to point out all negative stuff he noticed.

He is at least bringing partial truth if people here saw only positive posts then you know somethign is really really wrong with the game and Iam not talking about AoC only .. all games have certain flaws etc...

Btw Sieges are NOT fixed, yesterday we had 5th of our siege crashed in a row on Fury EU. ( and so did other sieges )

Current crash rate on Fury is around 80% so there is less then 20% that siege wont crash if both side bring 48 players.

Beside massive lag and rubberbanding and crashes there is huge bug and players that dont participate in siege are not getting ported out.

Our recent siege looked like: us (Futilez) with 48 members against Nastradir (defenders) and all of us vs RusCorp with 30+ players, Ragnorok with around 20, AD with around 18. Siege was already in progress for more then 10 minutes ( and i mean when we already had siege weapons out .. not during battle cool down) before they got ported out and beside porting them out we lost 5 of our members that were also ported out. ( 10 mins after that siege crashed )

So siege is far from fixed even devs on IRC are saying that they will need to do complete revamp as mechanics is flawed.

I cant really comment on 6 man dungeons I dont do them, dont do that many of pve raids either but they are nicely done and should keep everyone busy enough. As for mini games on Fury there is like 5 to 10 seconds wait time ( during prime time)

Some servers are pretty packed now ( no wonder as merges happend less then a month ago ) and population is good.

AoC is getting really good updates but the fact is some things are flawed for 2 years now and that should not be acceptable by todays standards .. except if some indy company is making a game. 

If they manage to fix lag/siege issues and add even more PvP content ( there will be more then enough PvE one with upcoming expansion) we will see more people coming back, even finaticd may deceide to give it a chance.

Why are you guys attacking finaticd ?

He does not like AoC he have some valid points and people that ask questions about AoC should always know truth is somewhere in the middle ... between hate & fanbois posts.

There is a free trial, everyone can check it out ( imo they should allow people to move out of boring tortage to at least level 20 to 30 zones ) and thats it.
