Same with me, I started playing during vanilla and I actually took breaks during the years ( the longest one being about 9 months) but I always came back for every expansion whether I felt " ready" too or not. I came back when cataclysm released and stayed for a month or two but finally left for good. The population of an MMO is just like the ocean tides, it ebbs and flows but the WOW population is still healthy I would venture to say. |

Question: Why Sandbox MMOs don't work?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 12/03/11 4:13:12 PM
SWG was a sandbox and expertly accompolished until Smedley and his lackies got involved. |

I downloaded the free trial and initially thought that Rift would be an enjoyable game. However, I started running into huge problems such as being disconnected from the server even though the population was listed as light; I would attempt to talk to NPC's and the chat box would open up 5 minutes later; mobs that were never there would end up killing me 3 or 4 minutes after I was already in camp. I've never had these problems with other MMO's so I figured I would come onto the forums and find out if these problems are constant ( and hence, ending my time with Rift) or if this is something that is rare.

My fondest memory is of our Guild events. I was in a very small but close knit guild called Red Sun on Kauri server. We would get together and kill Nightsisters. ( Before the NGE handicapped them.) Or myself and some guildies would go to the village and do some force quests. Before the NGE I would log in and go to one of my houses ( I had 3 large on different planets.) and I would log in sometimes just to sit on the balcony of my house and watch the sun rise and set. |

I actually didn't leave because of the impending nerf I basically left just for some time off. But if WoW isn't worth resubbing right now for any number of reasons ( everyone has a third arm, the Lich King is a rapist, Naxx is now high rise condos etc..) I would like to know so I can make my decision. |

Hey everyone, I played WoW for almost 5 years and left back in Dec 09 or Jan 10 right before the Prot Warrior nerf. My question is how bad was the nerf to Prot Warriors and is it even worth resubbing right now? Thanks. |

Got tired of having to relearn how to play my toons in a PvP setting every month because of some assclown going onto the forums and yelling NERF to whatever class they couldn't figure out how to win against in PvP. 99% of the time it was people that couldn't figure out how to PvP in the first place so they whined until Blizzard nerfed every class but their's. The other reason was basically the people. Too many immature, rude, bags of goo living in there parent's basement with an IQ somewhere south of a turnip. After 5 years I called it quits including pulling it off of the computer. |

That's why your xfire info sig says that you've been playing "Global AGenda" this week and you've played this week for 30 hours but all time you've played WoW the most. |

My idea would be to download Dungeons and Dragons Online. The main point being it's free and no one should have to pay for an MMO on the level of SWG. |

That did help thank you very much. |

Throwback P&P player ( from the days of the 1st Edition D&D) trying DDO for the first time. Light RP is ok but wondering what ya'll's suggestion would be for a starting server. |

Thanks all. The statement about the fast travel spots being revamped was good to hear. That was always a pain. I agree that the LOTRO world was always beautiful and that I always appreciated. ( I use to Log in to SWG just to sit outside one of my houses and watch the sky change.) Nice to hear that there are a good amount of people but not so many you want to kick kittens. Since I can pick up both xpacs for $10 might as well give it a try. Thanks everyone. |

Started playing at launch and lasted about a month. Found the game a little too slow and grindy, lacking in certain level brackets. Contemplating coming back but I wanted to get the state of the game ATM. I don't want the view point of a 13 year old that's been sniffing glue since noon. If the game's state is boring, grindy and unplayable let me know why. If the game is great fun on the other hand list off what you like about it. Thank you for any info you can provide. |

weird. Tried to log in this morning and got a message that the login server was down. Now it tells me to check the realm status but can't get to the WoW website because it times out and still can't get past the "connecting" message when trying to log in. |

Anyone else that can't connect to WoW ? |

Is it too late to start this game and progress.

Seriph, WoW will be around for quite a while so it is never too late to start. Jump right in, find a friendly guild and enjoy !! |
Originally posted by Zathoral Hello everyone. I started playing SWG the weekend that it came out. It was my first mmorpg, and i was in love with it. Pre-cu was amazing. The amount of freedom that players had to do anything within the world of SWG was unprecedented. Then NGE came along and took a lot of what the players loved away from the game, and as we all know this caused a mass exodus away from the game. I personally hated the changes, but I still loved the game. I chose to leave once so many of my friends had gone. A couple years later i came back for a little stint in the game that lasted 2 or 3 months. Once again I left. The game lacked content at the time. The only thing to do really was to farm comms in Restuss. Two weeks ago I came back to the game for a second time... And this time I'm amazed. I've been having a blast in the game, and I've never had this much fun since i first started playing back in 2003. SOE has added a lot of great content to the game since i last played. They added heroics to the game which are the new group instances. These instances are relatively easy, but they're all quite fun, and are very rewarding to complete. Furthermore SOE also added battlefields to the game recently. Battlefields have some flaws, but they make getting into the action of PvP much easier, and there are also some really cool rewards that you can earn from battlefields. The trading card game was also added since I left. I have mixed feelings on this subject. I personally really enjoy the trading card game, and i'm one of the few players who actually play it. On the other hand I dislike how SOE added SO MUCH awesome content to the game, but they put it all through the card game instead of giving it to crafters... but that is business... The trading card game is actually quite well done though, and if you like that kind of thing you should definitely try it out. I believe this month every account gets a free month of SWG including those that haven't been active in years, so this is a great oppurtunity for you vets to try the game again . I was skeptical when I came back 2 weeks ago, but I've been having a blast and there is no way I regret it. Unfortunately a lot of servers are dead now, but there is a free character transfer service in effect until september, so I highly recommend transfering over to Starsider or Bria if you start playing. I transfered to Starsider and there are tons of players here. All you vets should really try the game again. It really is a lot better than it was before. Maybe not quite as good as Pre-cu, but it is very good, and better than all of the other trash themepark mmos that keep coming out every year and always disappoint.
BWAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA This sounds just like the PR reps for the little korean games !!!! Only funnier and with better english. |
