If we could get that browser based zombie mmorpg, "urbandead" 3d it would take off.  I haven't played it in a year because busy life, but it was fun.  You choose a "class," such as military (start with m16), nurse/doc (med kit) and you have a certain amount of energy to do tasks.  Anyways, I like the thread. :)

So basically....  Computer Science OR Graphic design?  Nothing online?  Nothing else eh?

Aw will do.  Hey why that demon and not the others?  Lol what does that have to do with birthdays?  Oh wishes?

Awesome.  Thank you sir!

So I had the PC version AND the xbox 360 version of the game.  I had all expansions including the new abyss expansions.  I moved a few months ago and decided to play FFXI again with my old ID.  I installed playonline through the website than downloaded and installed FFXI through fileplanet.  Unfortunetly, I cannot find anywhere to download the expansions I already have linked to my ID.  I know I can purchase the games, but I already have the ID's linked, so I do not need registration codes.

Most companies allow you to download the expansions if you already have the code.  I've already bought FFXI and the expansions over three times.  Is there any way to just download the expansions for free legally?  I have playonline and ffxi installed and fully updated...  Just need the expansions.  Please help.

As my topic above, which is the most reconized, recommended college or university to attend online in Canada?  I'm living in the Niagara region in Ontario, Canada.  I would attend Niagara college but at this time I need to do online.  So if anyone has any suggestions, experience, etc. let me know please.

Any degree or program for game design, game development, anything related to games.  I would like to work for SOE, SE or any company producing MMO's.  I've done some research regarding hiring process but the only information I have found is the basic.  Thank you in advance.

No gifts just wishes! :D

Good read.  What I am expressing however is group play vs solo play.  I do see your point and I understand people want to play solo sometimes however...  If a game can be achieved solo, it could mean the game is easier.

I can see why developers are making games more user friendly.  It doesn't limit the player base into something they do not want.  However, this discussion is solo vs. group.  We aren't here to compare games, just the point of view of the two.  If developers make the MMO more solo friendly, it allows players a sense of achievement for leveling up quickly.  This design might be good for the players who don't have a lot of extra time on their hands, but what about other players?  Players that love to group are having harder times getting the thrill out of group play.  I find it far more enjoyable when I know I have to group to get anywhere in the game.  It shows real achievment and character through the hard times of grouping and grinding.

It's a real shame really.  Most MMO's are now making every game solo friendly until of course end game raiding.  By the time the player solo's his/her way to the end game, they have no real experience on grouping, and therefore aren't as good as a player that has been grouping from the start.  Personally, the best way to go for both parties to be happy would be to force group play and to allow certain specs/classes/jobs/skill to solo.  The group playerbase would be happy to group to level and the solo level playerbase can enjoy easy mode.

Why do people honestly play MMO's now if they are fully soloable?  It's easy, it's usually great graphics, and they can feel superior at becoming a high level.

At the end of the day it really is up to each individual.  This debate can go on forever.  It's a matter of personal choice and expectations.  Both have pros and cons, the final answer is up to.... ...  Ya, him.

Actually soloing ruined the genre for me and hundreads of thousands of others.  Look around, what do most MMO's offer now?  Everyone can solo, than end game raid, and therefore it's all the same as people calling "Wow clones."  Idiotic?  I believe any opinion that is relavent to the topic is smart.  The more opinions the better.

Back on track.  Community makes a game great for the genre of MMO.  Games that allow soloing for every class are just glorified RPG's with trophies to show off to other people.  A MMO that requires group play builds communities, shows how people communicate, and grows friendships.  If I wanted a soloable "MMO" I'd play an RPG on PS3 and show off my trophies.  Honestly, if we keep giving in to the solo player this genre will have literally no community outside of raiding.

If we want better games and games that are fun throughout the entire game and NOT just endgame, we NEED to add forced grouping.  I'm sure many poeple will agree.  Don't dare troll, everyone gets an opinion.

Tomorrow is my 22nd birthday and I'm in need of figt ideas.  One thing to keep in mind is I am wanting to go to school soon for game design.  I have a nice gaming laptop, mouse, some MMO's and Unreal Tourn 3 with the editor.  I also bought the huge unreal engine 3 and a book with it.  I'm halfway through learning the programming side of gaming.  So what would be some good gift ideas to ask my fiance for?  Something related to game design, books, MMO real life gifts to help build/ learn/ help.

If it were your birthday what would you ask for related to computers/ mmos/ gaming/ designing/ etc?  Also I was looking to ask for a book called "The art of game design: lense."  Something along those lines but the book was out of stock.  Anyways, let me know.  Thank you!

I say we get rid of solo all together.  It's a MMORPG for a reason.  If you want to play solo play a class with pets.

Stop fighting.  WoW destroyed the MMO industry not EQ2.  EQ2 tried to please the solo groups and hurt what we needed most, more group play.  I hate how every MMO out now is trying to please everyone, this is a situation where you can't please both parties.  It's called MMO for a reason, stop making games soloable.  Until the developers realize this, games will become boring quick.  We need to focus on group play.  My 2 copper.

Ah purchased using the code BUNNY.  It's going fast.  I might leave my computer on and update so when I wake up bright and early I can start playing.  I work for my mother-in-law at the moment and my job allows me to be able to bring my laptop and game there.  I'll be making money AND playing EQ.  Awesome!  I guess we'll go on the progression server?  I'll be rolling a Human Paladin.  Not sure the difference between deites?  Anyways, drake will you be starting on progression as well?  Any input on deities?  Message me here so we don't overflow the LF game thread heh.

I'm on Windows 7 64 bit.  I've tried setting everything to admin and I've tried right clicking and adding the windows xp SP2 to the compadibility.  Ugh what to do...

From Station Launcher I went Everquest > subscribe > chose "Starter Pack" for 20 dollars I believe.  Did I do it wrong?

Starter pack I chose.  Is this the wrong one?  I'm updating right now.  Had some issues with it at first because of a sumcheck with everquest.exe and some other file, tried a bunch of random stuff that I read from google, and now it's updating again.  Dumb Station Launcher eh?

I'll be starting Everquest 1 on the progression server tonight or this week.  I'll be looking for more to group with if interested.  Write back if interested.

Aw I plan to stick with it.  I'm trying to fix the updater right now with Station.  Keep getting error messages about testgame.exe than it restarts and keeps doing that process.  I think I will stick with Paladin.  I'm excited!

I'm currently installing EQ.  I bought the subscription so I'm waiting for the update.  I'm stuck between Cleric and Paladin.  Which to choose.  I've never played EQ, is there a lot of class specific quests?  Which is a better Damage dealer?  I know Paladin is a tank and cleric is a healer.  I've always chosen Paladin, even from FFXI and EQOA for PS3, the reason for cleric is because they still have heavy armor and they are able to heal and nuke.  The only problem is they aren't concidered a Holy Warrior, more like a Priest.
