Guild Wars 2 - Beginners Guide to Crafting and Gathering
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 6/09/12 7:56:27 AM
Regardless of item quality you'll be able to use crafted items for their skins as well. Im sure more than a few will be unique in that sense.

I personally love the game. For a themepark. It is the best one out to date and by a long shot. I will be playing it for a very long time to come.
That being said, I understand where pony is coming from (except the compelling swtor comment, unless my sith inquisitor line was the only bad apple). I'm a sandbox fan first and foremost as well and there's just nothing that compares to that player generated excitement. Sadly, outside of eve we have nothing to fill that hole with. Yet.
My advice to you pony, and anyone else in our shoes, just enjoy this for what it is. A casual game to sink time until something better comes along. Do what I'm doing and play 1 toon. Maybe try everything once. Achieve everything once. And play it mainly for the WvW or sPvP, whichever floats your boat. Both are fun.

Really dude? My experience was the exact opposite. Loved every minute of it. If you're going to make or break on a BETA event then maybe you should just wait til launch to play. The only botched thing by arenanet so far was opening up beta to preorders IMO. What they got were n00b beta testers like this who don't understand why they are even playing. They assume its to have fun and not work. Sad days these. |

I don't get the hate on class systems. They've been in place since the dawn of rpgs and now suddenly they're not cool. I think the main reason for them to go with a class system is for replayability. In every previous ES game I have only ever had one character because with one character you can learn and do everything. They want you to play through this game several times. More hours played = more dollar signs. |

I would boycott this if it would stop it but the fact is, like it or not, it's coming. I was hoping for a lot more but over the last couple weeks I find myself coping more and more with it. I don't hate it now and who knows may even come to love it. Time will tell. |

How about we just let the pony have at Matt and co. on a live feed and we rest of us just pop some corn and watch them squirm frantically as they stutter out answers. :D |

Gonna be sad if you can't bring the fight to the homelands, but it didn't really sound that way did it. Idk wtf comes up with these ideas sometimes. They can't seem to think outside these age old boxes and to boot there isn't any sand. :( |

I liked wow back then too but I'd have to be getting paid to play that game again. |

Kind of against them opening so many. Seems like every hot new title does this and then three months in half of them are low population. Granted you can server hop here which will insure you can stay with a crowd but then you have a bunch of servers with no one on them at all. Idk, if they need them they need them, just seems like too much. |

I don't mind the art. It was pretty enough with just enough elder scrolls in it to appease my standards for this game. I like the idea of less UI though. That was my biggest peeve with rift that I spent all my time watching the action bar and cool downs and never the beautiful game. Razer naga has helped ease some of that with these games but still. I get the feeling though that there just isn't a lot of innovation behind the gameplay and being that I already hate that it's not a FPS, they really need to make it up to me in this department. Time will tell I guess but I'm not holding my breath.

TESO the game of Can't and Impossible
General Discussion « Elder Scrolls Online 6/01/12 12:13:10 PM
Regardless of the bugs in darkfall, adventurine has proven a fpsmmo is feasible. Like the game or not, I particularly do not just based on the skill system alone, it's the proof in the pudding. If a small indie company can pull it off, a huge AAA company can make something incredible. Zenimax could've done it and captured a million + subscribers for 5+ years and instead will pull a SW:TOR, rake in the box sales then combine and open up mega servers a couple months in. FPS may not be for everyone, but it is for millions and with no one else competent doing it, they've really just missed out on the motherload. Kudos to whoever does it first. |

Well I only played WvW during the first event and got to lvl 16. I played a significant amount, but I think with travel times and death times with the amount of kills you get and objectives you take over, you're looking at half the speed of pve. Lots of people got to lvl 30 ish in the same amount of time. I think because in the pve its one mob after another with less idle time. |

While playing through I felt like the game was bottom heavy too in that there was less and less to do in each act. Idk if it was intentional as the encounters do get more challenging, but it left me feeling like they started the game thinking big then fell behind and cut corners to make deadlines. I'm on the fence with this one. I'm in act 1 inferno now but I'm starting to log in less and less. Kind of burned it out rather quickly which doesn't leave me too happy. This was supposed to last until gw2.

If I knew you, I would. But given the state of things I'd be worried you were a hacker looking for prey. There's been links about random pugs leading to hacked accounts. Good luck though.

Guild Wars 2: Will Extreme Hype Kill The Game Before It's Time?
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 5/28/12 6:11:43 AM
I think hype and genuine gamer excitement are very different. When I first heard about guild wars 2 a couple years ago it seems like, I was excited by the idea. As more info came out I grew more excited about the design. Later when the actual gameplay got showcased, my excitement went through the roof. Why? Because this, as much as people wanna declare it as same old same old, is new and refreshing in what's become a really stale genre where one can say I played one, I played them all.
Hype I believe is something marketing companies generate with their little gimmicks, commercials, forum feeders etc. Where they showcase always the best of and never the worst, where they keep the veil over your eyes until you've bought the box and a founders year long sub or whatever. It is really hard to tell the difference between the two but clearly, at this point, most of us have played this game and we know what we are getting as far as pvp/pve and all the mechanics in place and it's safe to say we are all EXCITED about this title and the possibilities it has in the future.
The use of the word hype on this title officially ended on the first semi-open BWE. Period.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Targeting the MMO Market
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 5/26/12 6:49:18 AM
I definitely will not be buying this game and it's heartbreaking to say as a long time ES fan. I feel completely let down by the design and then to boot I only ever play imperials. What a joke. I hope everyone sticks to their guns and boycotts this one. If a major company like this took a huge loss I'm sure the genre would wake up. I only wish it had been EA instead.
