You do realise you can minimize the legend in the minimap right? I do agree with you though, the UI is extremely clunky and is the only thing in the game that has not aged well.

using Vanguard for example -- they called their 1st major content patch an expansion

they raised the level cap, adding 5 new character levels

new character progression of AA  (it  didnt exist yet)

and content

 

opinions will vary

but I think its fair to call a free update an expansion if its increasing character levels and adding more content for those new levels

 

not many game updates raise the level cap

There is absolutely nothing wrong with calling a free content patch an expansion. It is just a trend I have been noticing since LOTRO launched, everything they patch in they call an expansion. I remember getting free map packs for fps games, now they are called DLC's and we have to buy them....Boourns!

Anybody remember WISH? I wish that game never got cancelled. :(

They most likely will do a char wipe. Most games do.

This is already prevelant in games or was. EVE is a perfect example. Pre-Trammel UO. If this feature could be expanded upon I am down for helping out.

Well duh, if Bioware was not owned by EA all the races would've come part of the game. Since EA is out to make $$$ you can bet ytour ass on DLC's and boxed expansions. I remember a time "dlc" content would come free.

The only way I can see this improving gameplay is if the UI is much more responsive and less 'loading'

If they do that I believe they will get a shit ton of subscribers. Vanguard had some brilliant ideas but just managed poorly, and killed by soe. I would definitely play EQ Next if it was a lot more like EQ1 with Vanguard features.

I just had an argument last week with a rl friend about how he thinks Diablo 1 & 2 are MMO's Anybody who thinks that or anything with online gaming is an mmo is a complete idiot. Wiki the definition of MMO and read what an MMO is.

This game was truly a unique gaming experience. Even though it definitely shows it's age, it also still has nice art for how old the game really is.

I suggest everyone try this game out if you like the Capitalist/City building sim type of games. It is also an MMO.

There is an ENB Emulator that's been out for quite some time now, google it as it's illegal to link it here.

Haven't played Lotro over a year but it's much more themepark. There were several horses and with Moria they added goat. Back then there weren't any unique armour or weapons other than different legacies on legendary weapons. Armour could be obtained by grinding instances for tokens that you can trade. EQ2 was much more open and there were several unique or very rare items as well. 

What the hell are you talking about, EQ2 was much more open ? EQ2 is a zoning love in,everywhere you go you are zoning.

LOTRO is like WOW when it comes to the map,it's as open as WOW.

OP, their are armour quests just like WOW.

As far as RP goes and story, LOTRO beats WOW for pure immersion.

You are about 95% correct. in LOTRO you still have to zone to enter buildings, unlike wow. In any building in any town you want to go in, you have to zone (which is a bitch) but it's a minor neuance compared to how bad EQ2 is.
