I don't care if it's successfull or not.

More Sci-Fi MMOs = <3

My account is 3 years old and unsubscribed, I was able to log in without any problem on old characters. Not sure about reactivation issues, but I can use it right now.

Hello kitty online: Teaching your kids how to kill cute fluffy things with a broom.

Free trial? No. They would have to -pay me- if they wanted me to play this shit.

Sounds promising so far. The only thing I am wondering about is how often do you engage in combat. If it is very often, which is unrealistic in most fantasy settings, even Conan, I imagine it would get tiresome to have to use arrows everytime you attack. However, I wouldn't know, so I look forward to your impressions after you've been killing things for a couple hours.

My Xbox 360 controller is going to LOVE this game...

Hooray

My G15 is going to love it even more. Hopefully it wont come with some crazy protection that kills the keyboard's macro manager.

Actually, I hope it wont come with any sneaky self-installing protection that hides as a service. Always makes me want to kill someone.

You're not required to accept an EULA, but then you don't play. If you don't like the EULA, don't play, state you're not playing because the eula and spread the word to other players about the horrible rules they don't know they abide to. That's the best you can do.

And about the changes/enhancements, you must be young. Any contract you sign for power, internet, water, almost anything non specific, has a clause that states they can change it without refunding you, but at the time they change the contract, you have to sign it again, or stop using their service. That's how it goes. It's rare to find a contract/eula with a fair refunding policy.

You see the problem isn't the game being unfinished, they have problems to fix, I know. And they will fix it, they are working on it right now and it will be more and more playable. My problem with the game is that it isn't what they kept saying it was going to be. The world isn't all that dynamic, they force you to walk around to collect logos like mad (which is slow as hell), and not only that, but it's freaking level based. You can kill the very same shitass AI-less creature now and then you walk into another spawn point where they are somehow 5 levels higher and they smack you in the face, simply because of level. That's not good for a quasi-FPS game. I'd rather see different weapons in the hands of those baddies to justify the extra punch.

But eh... Every freaking game is gearing towards that direction anyway. Simpletons rejoice.

It's only 3 days so you don't have time to realize what a piece of crap you're running into. Another funny thing about Tabula Rasa was all the hype it was getting and then bam, release, nobody talks about it anymore.

By all means... Give it a try. It wont hurt your pocket.

Being a casual player doesn't mean you're too dumb to understand a complex game. Nor a complex game means you have to spend hours playing it to have fun. Simpler games like WoW target teenagers which is the main market. Teenagers also seem to suffer from a massive penis envy complex, which Freud would love to analyze if he had lived this far, and since they have the time and 'patience' to spend on these games, they try to prove themselves through it. Or maybe they just enjoy the game. Either way, Blizzard thanks their parents for the subscriptions.

Someone mentioned a beginning character killing the 'game boss' not being fair nor a good goal? I'm sorry, but that's an admirable goal. More admirable than the usual nerfing [sic] and balancing everyone takes so much pride in. Like I said before, in less and different words, if you make a game all about killing/questing for experience you end up with butt aches. I think it's much fairer to give every player equal opportunities instead of favoring the ones that have nothing else to do. Sure, rewards are good, but when they becomes everything there is in your game, they are not special anymore, they become work.

The only difficulty in a game that doesn't rely on strategy is ass pain. Nothing cheers me up more than spending one hour in a game to get 10% closer to level and then think; "Yay, only 30 more levels increasing ass pain left to go". With that said, I firmly believe that no MMORPG developer has ever played chess. Not ever. Not once. Well maybe once when they lost and went crying to mommy. Most MMOs I see only challenge your patience and not your mind. Some challenge your reflexes but that doesn't make any of us less than a fat ass either.

What the MMO stream lacks is a game that will require people to think instead of making them spectators who sometimes press a button. A game that doesn't rely on rock-paper-scissors to say it has 'strategical' elements. A game that doesn't turn everyone into serial killers. A game that shows that ever the smallest mice can kill the mightiest warrior with salmonella. A game that captivates people by being fun to play and not by denying them aspects of the gameplay just to keep their ass there, paying monthly, as they hurt trying to reach the highest whatever they can be in the game.

And that, dear friends, just helped me to decide to pass on this one.

I just deleted Tabula Rasa to make space for it. And I'm not kidding.

At least the quest seemed more interesting than in the aforementioned mmo. Maybe If I have patience, I will install it tomorrow and comment about it.

May I be the first to say;

Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto.

Considering the games listed there, I think there might be something seriously wrong with people who use xfire.

I'd like to be the first to thank you for utterly wasting a beta slot so you could "play the game for free." You "got" TR indeed... pssshhh

Don't like something while it's in BETA? Then say something about it to the people who can do something. Friggin test what they have and give them feedback. That's what you're supposed to be doing in beta not just bitching on MMORPG.com forums how the beta engine isn't fast enough for you so you go back to CoV. Most games optimize (for you, read that as "make it go faster, vroom vroom") as one of the final steps before an open beta, so I'd hardly expect a game that's only been in official closed beta for a short time to be super-speedy. Oh that's right, you're just there to "get" the game for free...

Now now, don't be an internet jerk. Be more original. Post like someone who can read. Or even better, ask before assuming.

Let me address some points concerning your post. For starters, I didn't get TR, I bought TR. Does it waste a beta slot? I don't know, I don't care. Next you assume I didn't give a damn about the things I didn't like. I'm sorry but I checked the forums for all the issues, I didn't bother posting because -none of them- will be changed. There wont be vehicles or any other form of travel on TR release, maybe, just maybe in an expansion pack. So you will have to satisfy yourself with walking and teleport pads. And bitching? Look at yourself, can't even discuss a subject seriously without being hurt because someone wasted your precious beta slot (if it was wasted a all), boohoo. Next, you made a whole post about the game going vroom vroom [sic] when I said the game didn't have a fast engine once in a post that was entirely based on the game's mood. But since you make such a big deal about that, they are in fact optimizing the game as beta goes on, the last insanely huge update did fix a lot of bugs as it was expected. The graphic still does not justify the requirements and I I don't think they will change. If you had access to TR forum, which you may have, I don't know, you'd know there are dozens of threads about everything I said here. As much as they're working on pretty much everything, it still doesn't fix the main point of my previous post.

I don't care about graphics, I play rogue-likes after all. The only thing I expect is good gameplay and a fast engine. TR doesn't seem to have either and just like my fellow poster up there, I got TR and yet I find myself playing CoV every day instead.

I think my primary issue is that they make TR seem moody. Everything they say gives you the illusion that the game contain a great deal of immersion and dynamism. But the fact is the game, in its current state, seems like one of those games you wanna rush through to see the ending. Nothing there really catches your attention. Traveling is utterly boring and to make things worse, every little quest has you traveling miles and miles on foot. Spawn points are also another annoyance, because they're static and full of campers, but yeah, things don't just appear, instead a drop ship appears from -nowhere- and beams them down, making them appear. My point of view may be biased because from what I heard, the first island is everything the others aren't, but it's a truly annoying place you have to go through to get your logos and levels in order to move on to what hopefully will be more interesting. My character is in that place right now and it's too annoying for me to try to get him past it.

Meh, life isn't balanced, games shouldn't be either. What pulls me away from a lot of mmorpgs is too much balance. No mater what style of character you build, it always seem you're doing the same thing, which in fact, you are. Not only that, but most games make sure to remove any sort of tactics players could use, sometimes calling it exploits or sometimes just saying it isn't fair or balanced.

Regardless of how many people "might" have bought a particular game or CD vs downloading it, the intellectual property owner has every right to restrict access to people who pay them for it.  If you don't pay, you should not play.....

but I digress....

Well, I obviously do not agree with intellectual property, despise having art and projects stolen. There's a difference between copyright and plagiarism.

The world is made out of stolen ideas and dumb people who get caught in dumber concepts anyway ;)

Anyway, back to the subject. This was stupid on both sides, specially when it comes to running a stolen source of a horrible game and getting caught. Can you say pwn3d?
Yet another example of stupidity. First of all, they take the word 'potential' as if it was a certain. I'm even bold to guess and say that none of those players would actually pay to play the original lineage 2 server. The same goes with mp3s and other p2p downloadables. If I gave a high guess, I'd say maybe 1% of people who download stuff would actually buy them instead if they couldn't download. So they say a certain company/artist had the 'loss' of dunno how much when in fact, they never ever lost anything. Anyway, I'm done ranting and no, I never played lineage nor going to.
Because what girl doesn't love chopped off heads, right? ;P
