This if there was more MMO "fluff" and other things to do this would be huge I think.  But they still only have basically an open MMO world for arena-pvp.  They must put in a lot of other fluff or there is no hope of broader appeal.

Think he meant 2k current subscribers instead of 20k?  I mean if there just for arguement's sake 10k subscribers and each with an alt the whole damn world would be slam full of people everywhere...  I just do not see the 20k being right.

Need 15,000 more subscribers because they are out of money and owe debts all over town.
With current subs, they are slowly dying, can't really pay their bills.


Think's game will keep running, and AV can get more money- But for the game to thrive, needs more players. Some developers aren't currently getting paid.

Plans to improve cities, give them more worth, and increase pvp.


1. Steam Keys, looking into.
2. Player models.
3. Prowess Reset.
4. Conquest improve cities.
5. Different fund raising/promotion methods.
6. Clause has an idea of arena's to set up wager duels, and allow people to bet.
7. 

Clause talks about amazing network code, a genius behind it, needs to do more work.. but not getting paid.

Previous project manager left a mess.. Clause brought in to fix things.

Clause wants to hire the best, smartest players, and bring them into the company.

What would keep your alliance subscribing?

A: Give a reason to go out in the world, not stare at bank. Enchanting, Mob Loot, anything but suiciding into the best players.


Clause thinks the interface is terrible.


Clause wants to:
Wants to create a new role... A support class that deploys turrets.

Wants more loot, like Diablo3 or Path of Exile.

Wants to add quests.


Repeatable Prowess Feats. Remove diminishing returns.

29 dungeons would be 29 more places to go, thus the world will be bigger, and people will be more spread out.

You just said there were "tons" of people on NA , doens't that normally imply excess?

Perhaps new content would = new players?

If you're saying the game population can't survive new content than the game is already doomed.  Also, I'd don't remember dungeons being excessively large given DFUW  landmass .

 

Spot on there.  Plus with all the fast travel and how easy it is to teleport all over the map it would hardly take any time to travel to the dungeons.

 

Lust - right now game is at an all time populaton low and yes new content is needed to have any hope of bringing people back.  

While putting more content in the game and MORE places to go find people....

I'm still waiting on all those dungeons Tasos said were finished months ago, in fact DFUW was advertised to offer hundreds. Which was later edited AFTER pre-orders along with the "vast underwater world".

 

AV has always been good about "selling a game" , but actually delivering is a different story.

For all we know 29 dungeons are done and ready, but AV doesn't want to make the world too big with 29 dungeons.

I'm still working on the 3 dungeons we got, and more will come out when we need them.

You have clearly never played the game. What would add a point to PvP beyond what is already in there? (territory and resource control, and wonder control).

As far as I know, that is more meaning to PvP than in any other MMO except for Eve and DAoC.

And if you're still operating under the delusion there's only PvP in the game, you haven't played it in years.

 

Either you dont know me or you ignore that fact me beeing the most loyal supporter for DF even of the most people here had given that up. Active subscription for 3+ years + Beta of this DF:UW fiasco.

About the 'meaning'...what about consequences ..PvP has to include risk.

If gear is generic and everyone can craft it where is the point of loot ? 

If auction house is global and you can retrieve everything in safety where is the point if there is no risk ?

What about the risk of become rogue ?   Of course in a big safezone that is DF:UW everyone can group hag  and no risk involved.

Another good starting point is to give some meaning to the feeling of "feeling home" somewhere on Agon. 

Nothing is worthwile to defend . No racial wars, no meaningfull playercities, no affinity to some area being special as any area is not special.

oh sorry there is a difference one big area for group hag and other small area for epeen PvP without risk. of anything

The list is ongoing and it just mentiones the weakness of PvP in DF:UW  i even didnt touched the real gap between a good MMORPG  and  DF:UW.

200k+ people intrested in DF don't play DF because of other reasons and its not the PvP  to give you a idea.

I have always wanted a game that has gameplay like Elder Scrolls Oblivion/Skyrim and ESO will provide this but all pvp is limited to Cyrodiil and you can't see enemy players in their territory so I probably won't buy it.

 

So I am going to give DF:UO a try and I am worried that I might not like it. So it will be 55$ wasted if I don't like it but I am willing to take the risk, on steam it says auto renew after 30 days, I think I will know if I like the game or not after 30 days so can I cancel it after 30 days or before if I want to? The subscription of course, so it doesn't renew? It can all be done through steam right?

start your char on the na server whatever your location is..

 

EU server has around 500 players or less.

Na is around 1500 but dying fast aswell

Listen to this man IF you ever change your mind.  Game died a LOT faster than the first one BUT if you play definitely go NA server and even then a lot of the world is empty.  Good thing is you can get all your feats done lol

AV even went as far as to delete/edit the feature list AFTER the DFUW pre-orders.

 

Spot on and remember they had 29 dungeons all ready to roll last November....

I'm still waiting on all those dungeons Tasos said were finished months ago, in fact DFUW was advertised to offer hundreds. Which was later edited AFTER pre-orders along with the "vast underwater world".

 

AV has always been good about "selling a game" , but actually delivering is a different story.

Exactly - last November 29 dungeons were all done and 1 year later barely any are in game....

Former players of DF1 needed to basically buy the subscription and there was a limited time to do so.  If you didn't you are now SOL and have to purchase the game if you wish to play.

Wow - AV either has the siege timers resetting or they remove siege stones themselves with no warning when the same seige stone placement in the past has been considered to be just fine...  unreal company...

I am just curious about this title since I never played either of the DF mmo's and might just pick it up. I am a avid player of more of a SciFi base games and may mix up some Fantasy to change my gears this summer.

Accepting this themepark static game and pretending it's a sandbox just because there are no quests..

Not demanding sandbox tools that allow us to build unique things

Accepting these static classes with very few skills so that every build is identical.

Accepting that everyone will be using the same equipment

Accepting this slow pace combat

Accepting that there is very little strategy to sieges.. lack of siege equipment lack of even the ability to be creative in regards to war.



DF UW is not in a better state than DF1..

All players even those subbed need to demand more than just the same static shit that was already in DF1 being added very fucking slowly to DFUW..  Instead of praising AV every time they even speak to you.


AV is focused on their asian release because they see it as a big money influx. I agree they should get that part of their business growing so that they can hire more people and keep working on this game, but as a group we got to demand they start really rethinking this so called "sandbox".  We need tools to build and create.. we need massive amount of skills so that people can really be unique with their playstyles..

We need something better than killing 180 of every mob.. especially considering I spend YEARS on my DF1 character to just get wiped out and have to start over grinding in the most boring way possible.


AV has the ability to turn this thing around to please everyone.  They need to wake up and save this game before all these other titles come out and sink DF once and for all.

Like I said just like DF1 - they all said people would be back bu they never came back.....

 

Even the infamous DF forum mod Agent Oranj has no idea what is up at AV....

Empire is pissed because they lost a few sieges and their pixel property.  Nothing new here.  When you spend a lot of time, sweat and tears building your pixel property and then someone tougher comes and takes it from you, it's going to make some folks quit.  That is just the nature of a FFA Open World PvP game with real territory control.

 

Yes, many old vets who really enjoyed AFK macroing skills to gain an edge are not playing.  Those are the bulk of the bitter vet posts.  Clans that used to dominate now find themselves on a more even footing and thus get embarased and quit.

 

The population is fine. Still 50 plus in my voice server anytime I login (and we are not in one of the major alliances). I still have to bank after harvesting every few nodes because I get jumped regularly.  PvP group ride 2 nights ago resulted in 5-6 group fights in the 90 minute trip.

 

Will the game be huge in 6 months?  Doubtful, because everytime a clan loses a holding you attrit some players so they need to bring in fresh blood which they will probably not be able to do.  That is the nature of the game.  For the next few months I still plan to have fun.

 

 

 

No the case is made because the leaders of them are quitting along with other officers - another clan Zealot has quit...  So YES those are not good signs and points to a dying game.  Sinister had over 100+ players and now down to 82 as they kicked inactives.....  Council of the Elders is on the way out due to no content...  Look you guys can ignore the facts and #'s all you want - no biggie, lol

Hell half our clan's alliance is not playing either and log in only for sieges IF that...  But you are right the population is not decreasing.....

It's always hard to get through to the fanboys.  They are so uber hyped up they put a 2nd dungeon and totally gloss over how Tasos bent them over and stuck it where it counts - I mean Tasos' own words were that 29 of 32 dungeons were done in November....  Yet somehow only 2 have made it in game and they let AV slide completely, lol

They should revisit this thread and see what AV has delivered as they said they would...
